Speaker 1 (00:00):
I just wanted to
preach a simple message entitled
experiencing the goodness ofGod, and so let's go ahead and
lift up our Bible.
I don't want to.
I don't want to forget that weall usually make a confession of
faith.
So let's just, you don't haveto stand up, you can just lift
up your Bible with me and let'smake this confession together.
(00:21):
Say Heavenly, I'm grateful tobe here tonight to have my faith
stirred.
I'm a man of faith.
You can put woman in there.
If you're a woman.
I'm full of your word, I'm fullof your compassion and I desire
to see your glory.
(00:41):
I'm a carrier of your glory andI take that responsibility
seriously and I check in withall that I have and all that.
I am all for your kingdom to doyour kingdom business, to learn
(01:02):
everything that I need to learnfrom you, to go to the next
level in you.
In Jesus' name, amen.
Well, if you'll open with me toPsalm 63, this was one of, yeah,
one of yesterday's Psalms andstarting in verse one, let's
(01:23):
just go through some of the OldTestament examples of the glory
of God, because that's what thegoodness of God is.
It is His glory, and so youknow, some people take this
subject as really deep, and itis, but it's also really simple,
and so I'm just going to stickwith the simplicity of the glory
(01:47):
of God.
Let's talk about it.
It says in verse 1, I'm sorry, lee, I'm reading out of the
Amplified Classic, I forgot totell you that, just for I
believe this one scripture, psalm 63, amplified Classic.
And it says oh God, you are myGod.
Earnestly will I seek you.
My inner self thirsts for you,my flesh longs and is faint for
(02:13):
you in a dry and weary landwhere there is no water.
So I have looked upon you inthe sanctuary to see your power
and your glory Because of yourloving.
Kindness is better than life.
My lips shall praise you, sowill I bless you while I live.
I will lift up my hands in yourname in my whole being, that my
whole being shall be satisfied,as with marrow and fatness, and
(02:37):
my mouth shall praise you withjoyful lips when I remember you
upon my bed and meditate on youin the night watches.
And so back in verse two ittalks about his glory.
So I have looked upon you inthe sanctuary to see your power
(02:57):
and your glory.
His glory was manifested in hispower and his glory.
And that word looked in theHebrew obviously it means to
look and to see, but it alsomeans to regard, to look after,
to see after, to learn about, toobserve, to watch, to look upon
, to look out for, to find out,to consider, to give attention
(03:20):
to, to discern, to, to discernand to distinguish.
And so David, he was a manafter God's own heart.
I kind of talked about that.
The Sunday night before last Ipreached a message entitled Be
of Good Cheer and I talked a lotabout David.
We kind of went through some ofhis mindset and how he
(03:43):
approached battles.
There were several differenttimes he went against the
Philistines and he alwaysstopped to get a new, fresh
strategy from the Lord.
He didn't just launch out anddo the same thing over and over
and over again, what he did lasttime, and he always got that
fresh strategy and we talked alot about that.
But here he's observing, buthe's looking out for, he's
(04:06):
considering, he's discerning anddistinguishing.
That requires a little bit ofknowledge, right, the Lord's
power and his glory.
And so you know this is the OldTestament.
Old Testament, you know, davidwas satisfied with nothing
except the glory of God and hewas known, like I said, to be a
(04:35):
man after God's own heart.
So the glory of God is thesimplest form.
In its simplest form is thegoodness of God, his manifest
presence, and it's the one thingthat satisfies the human soul.
It's something that everybodyis longing for, that they don't
know is the glory of God, and soit's the one thing that one
experience with it changeseverything, it changes someone's
(04:56):
total being for eternity, andso experiencing the glory of God
changes all of your desires.
It turns a person totallyaround.
And so here in the last days, you know, god's calling us,
(05:16):
god's calling this church, he'scalling every Christian to be
full of His glory and to becarriers of his glory, and so we
carry his spirit everywhere wego.
So let's just to know whatwe're carrying around.
Let's have a definition of theglory, and so it means wealth,
it means numbers, it meanscommerce, it means power, wisdom
(05:38):
, promotion, superiority,dignity, authority, nobility,
splendor, valoror, valor,magnificence, extraordinary
privileges and advantages.
Amen, isn't that a good one?
That's what we carry on theinside of us extraordinary
privileges and advantages, andbecause it contains all of the
(06:01):
goodness of god.
In the Hebrew, in the OldTestament, the word glory is
kabod, and it meant weight orheaviness.
So God's glory carriessignificance and authority.
And in the Greek in the NewTestament, it's doxa, which
means honor or splendor.
And so Psalm 19 says theheavens declare the glory of God
(06:26):
.
So it's seen in multiple places, right.
It's seen in God's creation, right, the whole universe
reflects God's glory and God'smajesty the stars, the oceans,
the mountains, and so I knowthat's a big part of my dad's
testimony, right, mountains.
And so I know that's a big partof my dad's testimony, right,
(06:46):
that y'all have heard many times, as he was a deer hunter and he
would go out to the Texas hillcountry and just look at the
stars and just realize how small.
You know how large the universeis and how small he is and how.
You know how did he get here?
He was started questioning hisexistence and that began to open
up his heart, uh, for thegospel.
(07:09):
And so we see god's glory inhis creation.
We obviously see god's gloryand and uh in in jesus christ,
which we will get to in just asecond.
I, I, uh.
I left out of scripture.
Let's go to, uh john, verse 14,and you can do everything in
the New King James now, lee, ifyou don't mind.
(07:31):
It says and the word becameflesh and dwelt among us and we
beheld his glory, the glory asof the only begotten of the
Father, full of grace and fullof truth.
Begotten of the Father, full ofgrace and full of truth.
And so that's talking aboutJesus.
When Jesus came to the earth,he became flesh and dwelt among
(07:56):
us and he carried the glory ofGod everywhere he went.
He manifested the glory of Godin the miracles that he did,
that were performed through him, that God did, and he allowed
God to use him.
And so we see God's glory inJesus and then we obviously we
see it in God's presence.
All in the Old Testament God'sglory appeared as a cloud and as
(08:20):
a fire for the children ofIsrael in the book of Exodus.
But today God's glory lives inus because it comes in the title
deed that we have, that we'refilled with the Holy Spirit, and
if we're filled with the HolySpirit, we're filled with the
(08:41):
glory of God.
We contain all of the goodnessof God right here, if you've
received the power of the HolySpirit.
And so later on we'll talk aboutsome purposes and our response,
but I just want to get to mypoints.
Number one is to believe andknow you are a carrier of his
glory.
(09:01):
And so I want you to turn toJohn, chapter 17 and verse 20.
So, john, chapter 17, this isJesus talking.
This is all in red.
And so the title above thissection in your Bible probably
says most Bibles says Jesusprays for all believers, and so
(09:27):
he's not talking to just hisdisciples, he's talking to all
of us, amen.
And it says in verse 20, I donot pray for these things, these
alone, but also for those whobelieve in me through their word
, that they all may be one, asyou, father, are in me and I in
you, and they also may be one asyou, father, are in me and I in
you, and they also may be onein us.
(09:48):
That the world may believe thatyou sent me and the glory which
you gave me I have given them.
That they may be one just as weare one, I in them and you and
me.
That they may be made perfectin one.
And that the world may knowthat you have sent me and I have
(10:09):
loved them as you have loved me, father.
I desire that they also, whomyou gave me, may be with me
where I am, that they may beholdmy glory, which you have given
me, for you love me before thefoundations of the world, oh
righteous father.
Verse 25,.
The world has not known you,but I have known you, and these
(10:34):
have known that you sent me, andI have declared to them your
name and will declare it thatthe love with with which you
love me may be in them and I inthem.
And so everything that we have, jesus gave his glory, god's
glory, to us.
First of all, god gave it toJesus and Jesus gave it to us,
(10:55):
and so now we have it in theform of the Holy Spirit, and so
we've received his glory, and soeverything that we do reflects
back on to God.
Right, and so you know, I justwanted to bring in Hebrews 11, 6
into the mix.
You know we can all quote it.
It says but without faith it isimpossible to please him, for he
(11:19):
who comes to God must believethat he is, and that is, that he
is a rewarder of those whodiligently seek him.
And so it's so important tobelieve and know that you are a
carrier of God and that God is.
He's a rewarder for those whodiligently seek him.
He's not standing there with abaseball bat trying to knock you
(11:41):
in the head every time you dosomething wrong, but instead
he's a reward.
He rewards you when youdiligently seek him, when you
follow him, when you obey him, and.
But you have to come.
When you come to him in faith, you come to him in faith and you
believe that he is, that he is,that he is I am, that I am that
he's a rewarder, and so youknow.
(12:03):
That leads me to number twothat we recognize and honor
God's glory.
You know, when we come tochurch again, if you believe
that you're a carrier of God'sglory, that means when you get
here you're still a carrier ofGod's glory.
You should be looking forwardto being with other people.
I think sometimes we get so lost.
(12:25):
Sometimes I'm preaching tomyself, and so if you can't
preach yourself happy, thensomething's wrong with the
preacher, right.
I'm preaching to myself, and,and so if you can't preach
yourself happy, then something'swrong with the preacher, right.
So I'm going to preach myselfhappy, some, some of these
things I'm preaching to myself.
But sometimes we get so caughtup in the circumstances that
we're going through and then weget a little selfish and we just
(12:45):
start thinking about.
Oh well, you know, duringworship service God is gonna to
heal me or I've got this ailmentor I've got this going on, and
we come to church to getsomething.
But, man, we ought to be able,we ought to know that we're full
of his glory and we know thatwe're going to be poor, we're
going to be a supply when we gethere to other people that are
(13:08):
hurting, that we've alreadyprayed up, we've already been
reading our Bible, we alreadyhave something to pour onto
others, and it's the love of Godand it's pouring out literally
every pore of our body, andeverything that we say and
everything that we do brings Godglory, and so we're going to
get to that here in anotherscripture.
(13:29):
But I just wanted to get lost inmy notes for a second Ephesians
.
You know, just pointing out theEphesians three prayer.
You know, let's just look at it.
Just kind of open up your Bibleto Ephesians three.
It starts in verse 14, kind ofopen up your Bible to Ephesians
(13:52):
3.
It starts in verse 14, and Ihave my Bible, and so I just
wanted to point out a few things.
We've read it so many times.
My dad preaches on it quiteoften, but it says in verse 14,
for this reason, I bow my kneesto the father of the Lord, jesus
Christ, from whom the wholefamily in heaven and earth is
named, that he would grant untoyou according to the riches of
(14:14):
his glory.
God is rich in his glory, inhis goodness, of his manifested
presence, of everything, of allof the things that we read
earlier.
I mean, if I can find it back, let's see where did it go?
Um, let's see I think I thoughtit was after that scripture
(14:38):
anyways of all of valor, of allof the wonderful things that you
know.
Extraordinary privileges, youknow, remember that one.
And so he is rich, to to thatwe're strengthened with might or
with power through his spiritin the inner man, and that
strength and his power, it comesfrom his glory, right?
(15:00):
You see that that it's allconnected to the glory of God,
and so we really we don't wantto move outside of anything
that's not connected to hisglory.
In other words, we need to beaddicted to and know that.
That is ingredient number onein our lives.
In order to change anycircumstance requires his glory.
(15:23):
So it's that if I'm operatingin the power of God, I'm
operating out of a supply of hisglory that's already on the
inside and so, and so we need tohit the mark.
In order to hit the mark, inorder to be accurate for God,
it's going to require youtapping into the glory of God,
(15:46):
recognizing it, honoring it.
God recognizing it, honoring it.
And you know, we have Mr Tom andTeresa here this evening, and
brother Tom, he's a retiredHouston police officer and he he
taught at the firing, at thefiring range, for decades at the
police academy and that's whathe did.
(16:07):
So he knows, if you were totalk to him about guns, about
ammunition, about anything, he'sgoing to know all about
accuracy and being accurate andteaching people how to shoot,
how to draw their weapon underfire, under stress, all the
different situations that anofficer could be in, and and uh,
(16:28):
he knows all about it.
And so, just like he knows howto teach somebody how to be
accurate with a gun, uh, theHoly spirit teaches us how to be
accurate with the gift of Godthat's on the inside of us.
We don't want to be just goingshooting from the hip and just
uh, with, with a little bit of asupply.
We want to honor and recognizethat we carry every spiritual
(16:52):
blessing.
Ephesians 2, it's already beengiven unto us, and so we don't
want to step outside of that anddo something on our own
strength and our own ability.
No, I'm going to grab a hold ofthe glory of God.
I'm going to do.
The grace of God is his ability.
I'm going to grab a hold of hisability before I try to do
(17:13):
anything.
I can't cross the streetwithout the glory of God.
You know what I'm saying.
I can't go check the mailwithout the.
I can't walk outside and checkthe mail without the glory of
God, you know.
And so that's how much honorand how much recognition should
be.
So that's the expectation weshould have when we're walking
(17:36):
into this building.
Hey, I'm going to be changedtoday, but not just me, all
those around me, every personthat walks through this door.
That's why we're so excitedthat you walked through the door
tonight.
Amen, because this is a supply, and I can feel it as a minister
of the gospel.
I can feel your spirit pullingon my spirit.
You're pulling things out of me, amen.
(17:56):
And so that's the way it works.
Amen, that's what it's allabout.
And so you know to bestrengthened on the inner man.
If you walked in tonight, Idon't know what you walked in
here facing, what circumstanceyou have, but there's strength
supernaturally being imparted toyou right now on and in your
inner man.
(18:17):
That's where we get strengthfrom.
I know that sometimes we havecrazy thoughts and I know our
body can feel tired and wore outand you know, sometimes I get
like like I just feel a littlebit dizzy or like I've been
running a marathon but I hadn't.
You know what I mean.
You, you get to where you'rejust so wore out.
But you need strength more inyour inner man.
(18:40):
That's where your innerstrength comes from.
And I'm not really talking aboutright now, I'm not talking
about being motivated orinspired, but I will tell you
this that real quick yourmotivation comes from the inside
, through the inspiration of theHoly Spirit.
So, before you do something toyou know, you know you watch TV
(19:02):
or you watch something on yourphone, some reel or something,
or you know some wild, crazypreacher or something, and you,
you think that you got something.
No, your, your inspirationcomes directly spirit to spirit.
And so, uh, I was talking aboutaccuracy a second ago.
I'm getting totally off mynotes now, but the Holy spirit
has kind of been dealing with merecently about that.
(19:23):
Uh, if I'm going to get up here,I want to be able to be
accurate to to meet your needs.
I want to be good at this.
In other words, and I'm nottrying to be good for my name
and my fame, no, I want toplease the Father who sent me,
who called me to stand righthere in this podium.
I don't want to tell a story Ishouldn't tell.
(19:43):
I don't want any detail to comeout of my mouth that's not
anointed by the Father.
So I believe that he gives meutterance.
But you know 1 Corinthians 2,you know just that whole thing
about we really truly can thinkthe thoughts of God and have the
mind of Christ, and it comesnot brain to brain but spirit to
(20:05):
spirit.
And then so if you're notlooking at your spirit, you know
inside, if you're not, again, with the Ephesians three prayer,
connecting it to firstCorinthians two, about having
the mind of Christ, if you'reallowing your brain to just have
all these wild, crazy thoughtsthat get off track so quick,
(20:26):
you're going to miss it, you'renot going to be accurate, you
can't hit the target.
You need to hear from him andhe reveals your future, he
reveals the plan that he has foryour life.
Go back and read that in 1Corinthians 2.
I encourage you Again.
It's not in my notes, but justabout having the mind of Christ.
He reveals that to a spirit tospirit.
(20:49):
He reveals that to a spirit tospirit.
And so and the importance ofthat, amen.
So you know I have this in mynotes of Acts 13, 36, that David
served his generation well.
I want to serve my generationwell.
How many of you want to serveyour generation well?
And so you know, if Jesustarries, and you know, I get put
(21:14):
in the ground, my body rather, and I'm in heaven, but my body's
down here and it's in somegrave, somewhere on the
gravestone.
I don't want anything else, buthe served his generation well,
amen.
And so number three believe tosee and experience his glory.
You know, john 15, seven andeight, verse seven says if you
(21:37):
abide in me and my words abidein you, you will ask what you
desire and it shall be done foryou.
By this my father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, and
so you will be my disciples.
And so I'm talking aboutbelieving to see and
experiencing his glory.
(21:57):
You know, when we bear fruit,it makes, it brings him glory.
And so that's what I wastalking about earlier.
When you're, when you're inobedience to his will, when
you've spent time in his word, when you have allowed your
spirit to come in contact withhis spirit through studying,
through prayer, through again, you've sought him out.
(22:21):
You haven't just ignored him.
You didn't just wake up andstart your day and start
planning all the things that wehave to do and start engineering
all the answers to whateveryou're going through.
No, you've put him first.
You put him first in yourprayer time.
You put him first by seekinghis face and therefore you're
(22:42):
able, when you ask him foranything, he can do it.
But what you're asking him foralready lines up with what his
will is, because you've spenttime, again, spirit to spirit,
getting his plan, getting histhoughts, thinking like he
thinks, getting his perspective.
You know, my perspective reallydoesn't matter.
(23:02):
I want his perspective, amen.
And so when we do that, we bearfruit, and that bearing of
fruit gives him glory, um, andthen.
So then you'll be my disciples.
And so that's Jesus speakingagain.
And so notice that if you abidein me, that abiding, uh, that
just means spending time withright, making sure that you stay
(23:24):
connected, and so and it's nothard People make it hard it's
not hard.
If you'll draw near to him, hedraws near to you, and so that's
a real simple thing.
You don't need a Bibletheologian to pour into you, you
just need I mean, you do needchurch, you need your pastor to
(23:45):
pour into you.
But again, it's not hard, it'sreally simple.
Hey, I'm glad y'all are here, more people coming, hallelujah
and so.
But notice, there's an if there.
So the if is on our side.
And so abide means to remain,to not depart or to leave, but
to be kept In reference.
(24:06):
It's in reference to condition,to remain as one, not to become
another or different.
So I'm not trying.
You know, the world will jadeyou, it will try to change you.
The news media itself is tryingto feed you so much fake news
Every day.
They're trying to affect youropinion, they're trying to
(24:26):
affect your perspective, but weforget all that and we abide in
him and we, therefore, we havehis thoughts, we know our
purpose, we know his plan forour life.
And does he reveal to us all 50years at one time?
No, but it's day by day, fromfaith to faith and glory to
(24:48):
glory.
We're, we're, uh, we're, youknow, uh, uh.
Mark 11, 22 says have the, havethe God kind of faith, have
faith in God.
That means grab a hold of it.
So we're grabbing a hold of hisfaith and our faith is our grip
on him and his grace or hisability is, is his grip on us,
(25:09):
and his grip is always greaterthan our grip.
And so we have him, he has usby the hand and I'm telling you,
we're not letting go and he'snot letting go.
We're connected directly towhat he has, we're tied directly
to him and we're giving himglory in obedience to him.
Right.
(25:29):
Another scripture is 1 Peter, 1,8 and 9, but I'm going to read
it out of the PassionTranslation.
It says you love himpassionately, although you have
not seen him, but throughbelieving in him you are
saturated with a static joy, indescribable, sublime and
(25:49):
immersed in glory.
In other words, joy unspeakableand full of glory.
But the next verse says for youare reaping the harvest of your
faith, the full salvationpromised to you, your soul's
victory.
And so we have joy unspeakable, full of glory.
I'm telling you we're saturatedwith joy because we know
(26:11):
passionately, know our purposeand we're connected with him.
Amen.
And so that is, um, believing tosee the inexperience is glory.
So so, uh, no matter whatyou're standing for, uh, no, no
situation or circumstancehinders your trust in God, amen.
(26:32):
And so I was reading a littlebit today about the glory and I
got to this quote in PastorMark's book on the glory.
It says a man with an argumentwill always be at mercy to a man
with an experience.
So I've experienced the gloryof God, I've experienced the
(26:53):
goodness of God, and so no devilin hell can talk me out of that
experience.
You know you're not.
You're not going to go back andtalk me out of my salvation.
You're not going to.
You know he's blessed me toomuch.
I've come way too far to thinkthat God doesn't exist or that
whatever happened bad thinghappened is God's fault.
(27:14):
We dealt with that a couple ofweeks ago when I was preaching
and I just had that come over meabout.
You know, there's someone hereblaming God and uh, and thank
God we had a lady with enoughhumility to respond to that.
But it opened up something andsome more people came forward
and God really moved and touchedsome people.
(27:35):
And I'm telling you, it's justso easy to let go of that.
You just know that that's ahindrance that's hindering when
you blame God for whateversituation that you're facing or
circumstance that is doggingyour track.
When you do that, that you'refacing a circumstance that is
dogging your track, when you dothat, you're hindering your
(27:57):
faith, you're hindering yourprayers, because it's like an
immediate trust issue and you'renot you're saying like, well,
there's this one area over hereI don't trust God in.
I trust him over here.
Trust me, jay, it's only like10%.
No, that 10% is blockingeverything.
And so let it go.
Know that it's not God's fault.
Right, god didn't send it, buthe's sure going to use it.
(28:20):
He's going to turn it aroundfor his glory, amen.
What the devil meant for evil, god is turning it around for
God's glory, his own glory, hisglory, not your glory, his glory
.
And so and I'm telling you sothat, whatever you've
experienced God's goodness,you've experienced his
faithfulness, you've experiencedhe's held your hand through the
(28:44):
darkest of night, don't evergive up.
Don't ever allow the devil totalk you out of God's blessing.
You're obtaining everythingthat God has for you, amen, amen
.
Well, let's just lift our handsand receive the word of God.
Father, we just thank you foryour word.
We thank you for your glory, lord.
We're hungry and thirsty foryour manifested presence to
(29:06):
happen, and we're carriers ofyour glory and we know that
people's lives, not just our ownlives, but other people's lives
, can be changed in you.
And so, father, I just thankyou that you're sending us, the
hungry and the thirsty people, that there's a supply of your
glory here in this house, there's a supply of your
(29:27):
presence that touches people.
One encounter with yourpresence and your glory, five
minutes with the Holy Spirit, can change 50 years of bad wrong
, of abuse and all kind ofnastiness and perversion that
the devil has.
No more will we be in awe ofwhat the devil has done, but,
(29:51):
lord, we're in awe of what youcan do.
And, lord, we're hungry andthirsty for the supernatural.
And so, father, I'm gratefuland thankful that you're
operating in our midst eventonight.
Lord, in Jesus' name,
