Welcome to the very first episode of Glow State by Nai — the space where we stop dimming our light and finally show up as the women we were always meant to be.
In this episode, I’m getting real with you about what the “Glow State” actually is — no fluff, no filters. Just the raw, honest truth about how I broke down, rebuilt, and started creating a life that glows from the inside out. I’m sharing what this podcast means to me, what you can expect each week, and why you deserve your own glow-up story.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, overlooked, or just craving something deeper than another “motivational” talk — this is your sign to hit play.
✨ Let’s define your Glow State… together.
Let me keep it real with you — my glow-up journey was anything but easy.
Back when I was a teenager, I wore glasses, had braces during my pre-teens, and after high school, my skin completely turned on me. I battled painful, stubborn acne that just wouldn’t let up. I tried everything, and nothing worked. It wasn’t until years later that my sister-in-law gifted me the Elemis Superfood Facial Kit — and even though it wasn’t designed for acne, it completely transformed my skin.
Why? Because the ingredients were real — fruits and veggies that we eat daily, turned into skincare. That moment flipped a switch in me. I started taking skincare seriously — not just for how I looked, but for how I felt.
My body didn’t start changing until I began taking antidepressants. On the outside, I felt and looked “fine,” but on the inside, I was hurting. My mental health was struggling. My liver was suffering from the constant painkillers I took to deal with the brutal cramps I had in my teens and 20s. And I didn’t realize just how much I was breaking down until life forced me to slow down.
You see, to me, the Glow State is about way more than what’s on the outside. It’s about how you feel inside — in your soul, in your mind, and in your spirit. It’s about rediscovering yourself when you feel like you've lost everything.
When 2020 hit, my world turned upside down. My grandmother on my dad’s side passed away. Not long after, my dad was hospitalized. Then my engagement ended. All of this… back to back… while I was isolated during the pandemic. I thought I had hit rock bottom.
That’s when I started therapy — first with BetterHelp. My therapist, who I still work with to this day, helped me start seeing myself differently. I stopped looking for validation. I stopped asking for permission to take up space and be who I am.
Two years later — boom, we’re in 2022. I lost my mom to ALS. I ended a relationship that should’ve been over long ago, but I put my feelings on pause so I could take care of her before she passed. Every single hardship I’ve faced, every heartbreak, loss, and moment of self-doubt — it’s shaped the woman I am today.
And today? I’ve got a job I love. I’m in a healthy relationship with an amazing man who moved across states to be with me. I’m slowly but surely living the life I always dreamed of — traveling more, dressing up just because, and reclaiming my joy.
This podcast? It’s not your typical show. I’m going to be raw with you. I’m going to give you little “homework” assignments to help you grow (don’t worry, they’re doable). And we’re going to glow together through the doubts, the delays, and the down days.
✨ Make sure to tune in next week for Episode 2: “How to Glow Through What You Go Through.”
