I know you’ve all heard about dwarfism.  While this is a rare condition, stay tuned because 80% of children born with achondroplasia (that’s the technical name for the most common form of dwarfism) have parents of average height and weight.  The disorder is the result of a gene variant that affects bone growth.

Achondroplasia is a genetic condition that affects bone growth. People living with this condition may have to work harder than others at everyday tasks like turning off a light switch or opening doors. While often associated only with short stature, people with achondroplasia can face health complications like sleep-disordered breathing, chronic pain and dental issues, on top of the emotional toll of social stigmas and biases.

Our guest today will provide much-needed education around the condition, highlight the importance of early intervention and discuss the latest medical advancements to offer hope to parents and families navigating this diagnosis.
