(00:00):
Let's talk about how much itsucks to be invisible online.
I know, I know.
You're probably like angel.
Dang.
We gotta go all in with theharshness.
We gotta go all in with therealities of what I'm feeling.
Believe me, the warmth and theencouragement that I always love
to give you on these episodes iscoming, but.
Along with that warmth andencouragement that I love to
(00:22):
give you every single week, youalso know, or if you don't know
yet, you're about to know.
I like to dive into the real.
I like to be honest, no facadesabout what we're really going
through, how we are reallyfeeling when it comes to being
creative entrepreneurs trying tobuild what God wants us to
build, but we get stuck.
(00:42):
We get held back, we get afraid.
We're struggling with money,we're struggling with building,
we're struggling withconfidence, we're struggling
with clarity.
All the things in between.
And amidst all those thingscomes thoughts, comes
roadblocks.
And on this episode, I wannatalk about one of those thoughts
and one of those roadblocksbeing why.
(01:03):
Am I so invisible online?
You're trying to show up, you'retrying to post that content.
You're trying to be consistent, but you're like, man, it is
disheartening to get no tractionon all of this effort I'm
putting into this.
Not many likes, not manycomments, not many shares.
Maybe you've been trying for awhile and you are getting
(01:24):
absolutely no growth.
Maybe you feel like you're notreally impacting anyone or
reaching anyone.
It is a feeling that juststraight up sucks and here's
why.
It's disheartening because youfinally got over your fear of
doing it in the first place.
You finally got over yourhesitation, and you're finding
(01:46):
this consistency andpersistence, and yet you're
seeing no growth.
You're feeling like you're notmaking an impact.
You're feeling like your voiceis just quiet out there in this
noisy online world, when youhave a bold message on your
heart, when you're trying to dowhat God is calling you to do
(02:06):
and you're trying to build forthe kingdom, right?
Build a business, build it tomake impact, and yes, build it
so that you can.
Lead so that you can bringincome in the door and maybe
leave the current job orcontract or whatever situation
you're in to be and step intofully what God is calling you to
(02:28):
be.
But when there are crickets, when you're trying and ain't
nobody really engaging with it.
It is just tough.
So let me first start off bysaying I feel like you need to
hear this.
I am really proud of you fortrying for finally getting up,
(02:48):
showing up and putting ineffort.
Even if it's the smallesteffort, you are taking a step
forward.
And I need you to understandthat this is an action that a
lot of people do not take.
They're too afraid to take thataction step.
You.
Took it.
You overcame that, which meansthat you overcame anything that
(03:11):
the enemy was trying to doagainst you when it came to
instilling negative thoughts inyour mind about what you're not
or what you'll never be, andtherefore keeping you from
taking that very first step inthe first place.
You overcame that my friend andI need you to be proud of your
progress.
And if you're struggling withfeeling proud, if nobody has
told you, Hey, great job, let mebe the one to say, Hey, great
(03:36):
job.
You are trying.
And a lot of times my friend.
That's what God wants to see.
He wants to see you try.
He wants to see you put ineffort.
He wants to see you put in theattempt to build a relationship
with him to do what he's callingyou to do step by step.
(03:57):
Now, it's one thing for me totell you, Hey, I'm proud of you.
Hey, you're doing a good job.
It's a whole nother thing toallow some encouragement like
that to inspire you enough tosimply keep going and that my
friend is where I'm gonna bereal with you.
That is where the mental work, the mental healing, really comes
(04:19):
into place within yourself.
When you finally start tobelieve that you are doing the
thing, you're doing a good job.
And even if you might not seeyet the fruits that are being
produced from the good job thatyou're doing.
You cl tight to the hope thatone day that will happen on
(04:39):
God's timing and in God's way.
When you start to believe thatyou're doing a good job in
simply just trying, you start toget the motivation.
To keep going and that.
Is the main motivation that Iwanna give you in today's
episode is to keep going.
(04:59):
Even though you are trying toshare this big message, make an
impact, become a leader.
Do what God is calling you to doand what He wants you to create
in this world.
Even if it feels quiet, even ifnobody's noticing, even if it
feels invisible, even if youfeel disheartened, my friend,
keep going now.
(05:21):
You might listen to that and youmight be like, yeah, angel,
thanks so much for motivatingme.
I appreciate it.
That's all I needed.
But you also might be like, okay, and because let me be
real.
When I am down and I am just ina mood and someone tells me,
don't give up, angel, keepgoing.
Sometimes I'm like, wow, yes, Ineeded to hear that.
Thank you.
(05:41):
Thank you for that motivation.
But other times when I'm just sodown, I'm just like, look, I
appreciate the effort of tryingto pour into me, but that is
going in one year and out theother.
Because right now my negativethoughts are just a little too
loud.
So if me telling you to keepgoing is being drowned.
By the negative thoughts thatyou're feeling of not being good
(06:04):
enough, maybe wanting to quit.
All of those things that youknow about.
Let me dive into some remindersthat can help you keep going,
some facts to keep you pushingforward.
First thing, when you areshowing up consistently, you're
doing the thing, you're postingthe content, you're taking steps
(06:25):
day by day, you're trying thewhole online thing and making an
impact, and it's invisible.
I want you to think about this.
The one person that engaged withyour stuff online.
Think about that one personbeing face to face with you,
having a full on, real timeconversation.
(06:46):
Imagine that that person issomeone that you are talking to,
meeting with, helping face toface.
When we see one person, likesomething, one person comment on
something, one person give us acompliment, whatever it is, we
tend to downplay it becausewe're like, oh, it's just one
(07:07):
out of the millions of people inthe online space.
Oh my goodness.
It's just one.
That's it.
No, this is a person, a humanbeing likely.
Okay, because I know that thereare bots out there, but for the
most part.
That's a real human being thatsaw your stuff, felt impacted by
(07:27):
it and engaged with it.
Imagine that person being in thesame room with you and you are
taking the time to pour intothem so much to the point where
a seed was planted, and maybethat was all the seed that God
needed you to drop.
In that day to that one person.
Maybe that's all he wanted youto do, and in his eyes, that was
(07:52):
enough.
I had to train myself on thisthought because when I was first
starting out, especially withputting out my podcast, I was
barely getting any listeners, and I was just like, should I
even keep doing this?
This is getting exhausting.
I feel like I'm just shouting toa wall.
But I had to look at the little10 listeners at the time that
(08:14):
were listening to my podcast, and I had to remind myself that
this isn't little.
Those are 10 human beingslistening to what I am trying to
say, listening to the impactthat I'm trying to allow God to
make through me.
10 people that I can envisionmyself in a room with talking
(08:36):
to, pouring into that is nosmall deed.
Every human being matters.
Every life was created onpurpose for a purpose.
And what if God chose that pieceof content, that online thing,
whatever it is that you'retrying to put out there?
What if he chose that and said,Hey, I just need this to be for
this specific person right here, right now, the audience and all
(08:59):
the other people that you'rewanting to come.
That will come in time, butright now I just need this one
person to be impacted by itbecause they are ready to
receive it.
What if that was the case?
A lot of times we don't thinkabout that because we think
about the surface level.
Uh, nobody really liked this.
Nobody engaged with this.
I feel invisible.
(09:19):
I don't know if I should keepgoing.
This isn't working.
We get so caught up in that andmy friend, if you stay in that,
you will end up quitting.
You will end up pulling backfrom doing what you know that
God is calling you to do.
We have to remember that we donot fight flesh and blood.
We are fighting spirits.
We are fighting attacks that wecannot see.
(09:42):
And you, my friend, need to wakeup and realize that those
negative thoughts of quitting.
What you know for a fact, God iscalling you to do that is the
enemy.
So what does it look like tostart being joyful in the one
person that engaged with yourstuff, the one person that saw
it versus all the other peoplethat you feel like are viewing
(10:04):
you as invisible?
What about that one person, those few people that aren't?
That are seeing it, that areengaging with it, that are in
the slightest or in the biggestway impacted by it, and maybe
just maybe that was all the seedthat God needed you to plant for
that day and that my friend isgood enough.
You will grow.
(10:25):
You will get there.
Keep showing up.
Keep being consistent.
As you do day by day, it's goodenough.
Let it be good enough and havehope for growth to take place in
the near future God's way.
God's timing.
Now that brings me to my secondpoint because we have to be
really careful when it comes togrowth, when we grow.
(10:49):
Whether it's, we grow our money,we grow our audiences online, we
grow anything that has to dowith raising up our status.
We unintentionally start toglorify ourselves because it
becomes about you.
You have this large audiencenow, and you scaled your income
(11:09):
to all this money now, and itstarts to become about you to
the point where selfishnessunintentionally takes over.
When we get selfish, when westart glorifying ourselves, we
deem.
Ourselves.
We deem our businesses as anidol.
What we prioritize, what wechase after over everything
(11:31):
else.
That is where we need to becareful when it comes to growth.
So my next reminder for you, myfriend, is to remember that this
is not for your glory.
This is for God's glory.
I know you wanna build up thataudience.
I know you wanna make thatmoney.
I know you want to grow thatthing, but it's not for your
glory.
It's not for people to glorifyyou and idolize you.
(11:55):
It is for God's glory to makespace for people, to glorify
God, to see God through theimpact that you wanna make in
your own unique way in yourindustry.
Based on what God is calling youto do, he is using you as a
vessel.
Wants to use you as a vessel tospeak through you to make impact
(12:17):
to other people that need God.
And God can creatively go aboutthis in so many ways.
What you say and how you say itbased off of the industry that
he's calling you to be in.
How do you relate it to theaudience that God is calling you
to make an impact for?
Are you more bold and frontfacing?
(12:37):
Are you more discreet andmeeting people where they're at?
There are so many ways that Godcan work in and through you in
order to impact the peoplearound you.
All to glorify him and to planta seed to others.
So the next time you findyourself posting something,
(12:57):
putting something up online, putting in effort, and you just
feel like you're invisible, youfeel like it's getting crickets,
I need you to tell yourself, Iam doing this to glorify God.
Not to glorify me.
And if that is a hard thing foryou to even say, then that means
that you are unintentionallyglorifying yourself.
(13:20):
You want the praise, you wantthe likes, you want the look and
feel of a really strong, bigaudience.
You want that for yourself?
Heart check.
Heart check, because businessGod's way has nothing to do with
you.
It has everything to do withwhat God wants to do through you
calling you to be a leader, tomake impact for others.
That doesn't mean that you won'tbenefit from it.
(13:41):
That doesn't mean that God won'tbless you.
That doesn't mean that you won'tsee the fruits of that labor.
God has blessed me in so manyways.
Given me more than what Ideserve, but it's the heart
position.
Am I leading with, Hey, I wantmore.
I need status, I need moremoney.
This audience is all about meand it's for me.
(14:02):
Am I leading with thatintentionality or am I leading
with, you know what, I'm gonnashow up to glorify God because
I'm doing what he's calling meto do.
I don't care if one person seesit or nobody sees it, or a
hundred thousand people see it.
I don't care because at the endof the day, I am doing this.
To glorify God and if he hascalled me to it, he will see it
(14:22):
through on his timing.
All I have to do is keep going.
Now, let me say this too, glorifying God in what you are
doing right now.
In that business, in that book,in that creative project,
glorifying God means that youare content with whatever
outcome he wishes to produce toyou.
(14:45):
Meaning, let's say you'reconsistently going all in when
it comes to your online content, you are not giving up.
You've been doing this foryears, and let's say that by the
end of your life, you didn'treally grow that big of an
audience at all.
Will that be enough for you?
That's a hard question because alot of us are striving for
growth to see an outcome thathas to do with a numerical
(15:09):
result.
Money or audience growth.
Growing our customers, growingour clients, growing our online
audience, growing our sales, allthe things.
But what if God gives you just alittle bit of that or just
enough, or maybe it's not thebig old goal that you thought it
would be, but it's enough.
What if that is his plan allalong at the end of your life is
(15:33):
to just give you this, to haveyou reach this?
The reason why I'm saying thatis because.
We should learn to be contentwith whatever God produces as
the outcome for us.
Now, on the other end, he couldproduce big results, a following
that you never would've thoughthave happened.
Income that blows your mind somuch so to the point where you
(15:57):
don't know what to do with it,to the point where you are
overflowing.
That could be the possibilitytoo.
Now I believe that God wants togive everyone overflow.
However, I believe that the kindof overflow he gives us all is
going to vary person to person, capacity to capacity, mission to
(16:18):
mission, calling to calling.
It just depends.
What I am saying is it's God'sway.
It's his way, it's his timeline.
It's his path.
No matter what are we going tochoose to be content with that
Because we believe that nomatter the numerical result of
anything, we will be taken careof.
(16:39):
God has got us, we areglorifying him in doing what
he's called us to do.
No matter the numbers, no matterthe numbers.
So, yes, set your goals on thegrowth that you're trying to get
to put in that effort, but makesure that your heart is in the
right place as you pursue yourgrowth goals.
Glorify God, not yourself.
(17:02):
Glorify God, not the numbers.
Last thing that I'll say, youneed to remember.
That most people start out thisway.
Some of the most successfulpeople that you know to this day
that have large followings orthey make great money, and it
seems like all of their onlinecontent is making this huge
(17:23):
impact and it's gaining so muchtraction.
Those people, a lot of themstarted with nothing.
Started from nothing.
They might have been homeless, sleeping in their cars.
They might have, uh, been waydeep in debt and pulling the
last of their savings to try toinvest money in equipment to
create videos.
(17:43):
They might have started apodcast that completely flopped
and then quit it, and then wenta whole different route just to
refine their persistence andfinally succeed in a whole
nother content channel.
You don't know these peoplestories.
All you see is successfulYouTubers and successful
podcasters, and successfulInstagrammers and successful
(18:04):
salespeople.
That's all you see is ah,they're successful.
They have a lot of subscribers.
They do this, they do that.
What about me?
They have a story too.
My friend, they struggled at1.2, my friend.
Who are we to compare ourselvesto the lives of other people
when we don't even know thestruggle that those people went
through too.
Everyone starts somewhere.
(18:24):
Everyone starts a lot of timeswith nothing.
Everyone starts a lot of timesjust feeling.
And seeming and coming off ascompletely invisible.
The difference is that they keptgoing.
They did not give up.
When they failed, they got upwhen they tested and it didn't
work.
(18:45):
They pivoted and they tried itagain over and over and over
again.
If God is calling you to thatthing, pursue it with
persistence, pursue it in a waythat does not compare you to
other people.
Pursue it in a way where youremember that everyone starts
here at some point in time.
(19:05):
You are in your season of thatstarting period.
Which means that if you stickwith it, if you learn to
overcome it, if you learn towalk hand in hand with God
through it, you will be okay.
You will see the fruits producedout of that.
So keep testing, keep trying, keep learning, keep
(19:26):
understanding what works andwhat doesn't work, and just keep
it up at the end of the day.
All in all my friend, the nexttime you feel like quitting
because you just feel likeyou're so invisible and nobody's
hearing you.
You're just trying to make thisthing work and you're trying to
build it.
But man, it's dishearteningbecause it's just not reaching
(19:47):
anybody.
I need you to remember thesethree things.
Everyone starts here you are inthat season.
Work through it.
You will be strengthened becauseof it.
Glorify God.
The purpose of you doing this orwhat should be the purpose of
you doing this is to glorifyGod, not yourself and not the
numbers.
That should be good enough.
(20:08):
You should trust in that enoughto know that God will take care
of you.
He will see it through growthwill happen on his timing and
his way where he sees fit foryou.
And lastly, just imagine thateven one person that engaged
with your stuff.
That one listener, that oneviewer, that one, like that one
comment, that one share, thatone dm, that is a human being,
(20:33):
that God chose for you to planta seed to on that day through
that piece of content, and thatis enough.
I hope that this episodeencouraged you enough to no
longer feel embarrassed aboutcoming off as seemingly
invisible.
To no longer allow what feelslike invisibility to keep you
(20:56):
down or to make you wanna quit, but to instead, it rises up a
fire in you to keep it up, tokeep showing up, to smile all
throughout it, to glorify God,to know that he's got it.
Keep it up my friend.
