Angel Marie (00:00):
Hello and welcome to another episode of the God
Empowered Podcast.
It is a new week.
Hopefully our minds are feelingrenewed and ready.
But hey, even if you're not, ifyou're tired, you're exhausted,
you're like, Can this week justbe over already?
It's okay.
It's okay.

(00:20):
Some weeks are better thanothers.
And at the end of the day, youpressed play on this podcast
episode.
And I am hoping that this givesyou encouragement that you need
today and throughout the rest ofthe week too.
Today's episode, my friends, weare going to talk all about that
fear.
That's right.
The fear you're currentlyexperiencing, the fear you are

(00:42):
going through, the fear that isholding you back from doing what
God is calling you to do.
The fear that keeps you frombeing consistent.
We're going to talk about it.
There's surface level fear,right?
Like, it's easy to say, well,I'm just scared.
I'm just scared to do it.
I'm scared to try it.
I'm scared to try again.

(01:03):
I'm scared to start.
I'm scared to scale it.
It's easy to say the statementof you being scared.
What's hard Is you getting tothe root of why your fear
specifically exists when itcomes to that thing?
That thing that God is callingyou to do.
That thing that you're supposedto be starting.

(01:25):
That thing that has a lot to dowith your creative gifts right
now.
There is something deeper as towhy you're fearing that.
Yes, you're scared.
Fear happens.
It's okay.
But you can choose to remain inthat fear or you could choose to

(01:47):
learn how to overcome it.
The choice is yours.
But, if you are ready, and ifyou are listening to this
episode and wanting to feelencouraged, let me just tell you
that a goal of yours this yearshould be how to overcome your
fear that's holding you backright now.
Before I dive deeper, I don'twant you to feel like it is

(02:10):
wrong.
For you to fear you are humanExperiencing a world that has a
lot of tough things in itThere's a lot of difficult
seasons that we go through ashuman beings living in the world
that we live in today workingTrying testing figuring things
out Navigating life, it's hardDo not deny your human

(02:33):
experience of being scared.
At that point, you're just lyingto yourself and God can see
right through that.
Okay?
He sees your fear.
He knows you're scared.
He understands.
Fear can come from many places, and it's different based off of
The type of person you are andthe experiences that you've had

(02:53):
in life.
So yes, does everyone deal withfear?
Absolutely.
But you my friend have a uniquetake on fear that is different
from someone else's fear basedoff of deeply rooted things that
were planted in you sincechildhood from experiences from
your overall life story so far.
You need to uncover that so thatyou can deal with it.

(03:17):
Face the fear, overcome it, andmove forward in doing what God
is calling you to do.
Now when it comes to overcomingfear, I could make the obvious
statement of you just need togrow your faith.
Faith can help you overcomefear, faith over fear.
100%.
Okay.
Yes.
Yes.
And yes to all of that.
But we need to go deeper.

(03:39):
Okay.
Because how can we allow ourfaith to overcome our fear, to
supersede our fear?
If we are not fully self awareof where our fear is deriving
from in the first place, we needto get to the root, my friend,
get to the root, understand it,become self aware so that you
can face that fear, grow infaith and move forward.

(04:01):
All right, I'm talking a lot, solet's take a step back and let's
dive in.
First place that your fear couldbe deeply rooted in is your
childhood trauma.
Something that I have learned asan adult is how essential it is.
To be mindful of how you act andreact around your children, not

(04:24):
even just your children, butaround kids, youth in general,
because they will see that theywill see how an adult acts and
reacts to things.
And they will take that on andthink that that is the norm.
They think that that is how theyshould act or react in certain
situations to the way youparent.

(04:45):
It is so essential.
And I can only talk very lightlyabout this because I am not yet
a parent, but I've been learningabout it because through therapy
and reading and my faith walk.
Really just discovering that alot of the way that you are is
from what you've seen in yourparents, or the people that

(05:08):
raised you, or just how you wereraised in general.
And it's not necessarily ahorrible childhood situation
that you have to be in in orderto have this childhood trauma
that causes fear into youradulthood.
It honestly could be the factthat you had a great childhood.
But There were things that yousaw, things that you witnessed

(05:31):
that made you scared to docertain things as an adult, but
you don't realize it yet becauseyou haven't dug up that pain
from that childhood experienceyet.
Think about the actions and thereactions that you saw from
parents, communities, school,teachers growing up.

(05:53):
What did you see?
Matter of fact, I would love foryou to meditate on this for a
minute.
I would love for you to closeyour eyes and put yourself in
the shoes of yourself when youwere a kid.
And I want you to think about asituation, a specific moment
where what you witnessed as akid, the way that that adult

(06:14):
said something, the way theyacted, the way they reacted,
whether it was to you or youwatched them react to something
in their life, or to the peoplearound them, or at their job,
whatever it might be, somethingthat you witnessed.
that you are realizing stuckwith you this entire time.
Think about that and meditate onit.

(06:35):
Give yourself patience as youmeditate on it, because I truly
believe that it takes this levelof in depth thinking to realize
where your fear is deeply rootedin when it comes to your
childhood.
I grew up watching a lot ofadults in my family react to
certain things that had to dowith money.

(06:58):
And those reactions were eitherextremely negative and emotional
and frustrating or the reactionswere toxic positivity.
For example, I had familymembers when I was a kid where I
remember witnessing them cryover money problems.

(07:19):
On the other end, I've hadfamily members give this false
sense of hope of I'm gonna berich one day.
And there's nothing you can doabout it.
Nothing you can say about it.
It's gonna happen for me.
But then they would neveractually put in the effort or do
the work to reach a goal likethat.
So it was interesting.
It was like two different endsof the spectrum.

(07:40):
Looking back on it, realizingthat My fear around doing what
God was calling me to do wasbeing so terrified of being on
either end of those spectrums.
I was so scared to be in a placeof being broke and therefore
money running my life and beingso emotionally frustrated by it.

(08:01):
So that would make me hesitatefrom doing anything that God was
calling me to do because I wasfinancially terrified.
On the other end I was scared.
To have high hopes of becomingfinancially successful, but not
putting in enough consistenteffort to get there because I
saw that as a kid and I thoughtthat that was normal.

(08:22):
So now I'm scared to also findmyself in that space.
This is an example of what I'mtalking about.
You have to understand whereyour fear is coming from so that
you can heal that inner childwithin you and develop the faith
enough to take a step forward.
To face your fear and to learnto overcome it in time The
second place that I believe ourfear is deeply rooted in we've

(08:46):
compared way too much We havespent way too many hours over
our entire lifespan so farcomparing ourselves to other
people And that comparisonthrows our competence out the
window, dims our light, andmakes us feel as if we are not

(09:07):
good enough, we are not ready,or we don't have the skill to do
what God is calling us to do.
It is okay to feel inspired bysomeone else's success.
That's okay.
What's not okay is taking theinspiration that you're feeling
from that other person's successand using that as a way to

(09:27):
degrade your very own timing, your very own calling, your very
own obedience to God.
You need to remember that yourjourney and your path is
supposed to be different.
You comparing yourself tosomeone else and allowing that
to drive fear in you that youwill never reach that status.

(09:48):
You will never reach thatsuccess.
You will never be as good asthat person.
You will never do things in thetiming that they did things.
Guess what?
My friend, you have a falseperception.
It's not supposed to.
Your success, your status, yourtiming, it's not supposed to
look like that other person's.
your brain, or the enemy, okay,is making you believe that that

(10:12):
false perception is true.
And it's not.
You're supposed to be different.
your status, it's not supposedto match anyone else's that
you're seeing.
It's supposed to be different.
We need to be careful lustingafter someone else's path and
their gifts.
And instead, appreciate, focus, and lean into their gifts.

(10:36):
The path and the creative giftsthat God gave us.
Comparing is robbing you of yourconfidence.
It is robbing you from finallytaking a step forward.
It is robbing you from shiningyour God given light.
That you know you are beingcalled to shine in some way, in

(10:57):
some format, in someconversation, through some
product, through some service, through some launch, through
some book.
You know that.
But you're allowing your lightto be dimmed anyway.
Stop comparing.
You don't have to putexpectations on yourself to live
up to the kind of success orstatus or whatever that other
person achieved.
It's causing you to fear.

(11:17):
It's causing you to holdyourself back.
It's causing you to remainstagnant.
The third place where I feelthat fear is deeply rooted in is
timing.
I think that a lot of times weget scared about timing.
We fear if it's the right time, and if it ends up not being the

(11:37):
right time, what will happen ifwe'll go down the wrong path.
We also fear timing in the senseof feeling like it's too late.
It's too late to start.
I'm too old.
Everybody else is doing thisanyway.
It's too late.
I have kids.
Well, I just got this job.
So it's too late for me.
No.
If God is calling you tosomething, And you know it, you

(12:01):
know it in your spirit, it isnot too late.
He's just sitting there, waitingfor you to move.
To stop thinking that it's toolate.
And to just move.
See, your version of it beingtoo late is you trying to fit in
the box of your human timing.
When God is asking you to walkout in faith and trust in his
divine timing.

(12:23):
God is bigger than time.
Something too late for you isnot too late for him.
But you don't see that becauseyou're blinded by the thought of
it's too late for me.
Step outside of your box when itcomes to time.
and step into the divine timingthat God has over your life.
doesn't matter how old you are.

(12:43):
It doesn't matter if you'resuper skilled at this thing yet,
and you just need to wait forthat timing.
It doesn't matter if yourecently became a mom.
It doesn't matter if yourecently got a job.
doesn't matter where you're at.
If you feel like God is callingyou to pause and take a break to
focus on that season of yourlife, wherever you're at, then

(13:03):
by all means, absolutely obeythat.
Listen to that.
But if you know in your heartthat you are just making an
excuse, it's time to overcomethat.
Stop letting your fear continueto be deeply rooted in timing.
Last thing that I'll say inregards to where your fear could
be coming from is money.

(13:25):
Oh, I saved the best for last.
I know I did because I knowyou're already thinking it.
Money drives us.
God knows this.
It is why he talks about it inthe book of Matthew, chapter
six, verse 24.
Oh, you don't know what I'mreferring to?
Guess what?
I got it pulled up because we'regoing to go over it right now

(13:45):
together.
In Matthew, chapter six, verse24.
It says, No one can serve twomasters, for you will hate one
and love the other, or you willbe devoted to one and despise
the other.
You cannot serve God and beenslaved to money.

(14:07):
Think about that.
Why was Jesus specificallytalking about the two masters
being God and money?
Because he knows that that isthe number one idol in this
world, the number one idol onearth.
He knows that people will easilychase after money versus chasing

(14:27):
after God and trusting him withtheir finances.
There's a huge differencebetween the two.
You could want to be financiallysuccessful.
God can make that happen for youbetween your effort and the
faith that you put in, and theoutcome that God will produce
from that.
But it's your heart's posture.
Are you chasing money?

(14:47):
Or are you chasing God andtrusting him to put his hand
over your finances as you put inwork and as you put in faith in
order to become financiallysuccessful?
Which one is it?
Because depending on which oneit is, that is a clear indicator
of which one you're serving.
And because money drives us inthis world, because it can so

(15:08):
easily become an idol, we alsocan so easily be feared by it.
Now, I get it.
It makes sense.
And I've been there before, too.
I still find myself there manytimes, many moments, even
currently.
Why?
Because money can give a lot.
And it can take a lot.
If you have a lot of money, youcan get a lot.

(15:28):
If you don't have a lot ofmoney, or if your money starts
to run out, it takes a lot.
Because now your survival, things like your home, you
paying rent, food, paying offdebts.
Now all of these things arecompletely uncertain.
So, I get it.
It's easy for money to driveyou.
Especially when you have afamily to take care of.

(15:50):
Especially when you have debtsto clear.
Especially when you just havefinancial goals in general.
It's easy for money to driveyou.
But because it's driving you sohard, it also is causing you to
be so scared by it.
Meaning, you won't move.
Where God is calling you to movebecause you're afraid of money.

(16:12):
You're afraid of losing money.
You are afraid of not havingenough of it.
You're afraid of anything thathas to do with finances or money
being part of the process of youjust taking a step forward.
Here's the thing.
If you are questioning, if Godis calling you to take action
towards something right now, then you need to pause and pray

(16:34):
about that.
Because you could find yourselfin a situation where you are
starting that business, writingthat book, launching that
project.
You start to do it, but yourushed it.
You're rushing ahead of God'stiming, and because you did, now
your finances are in jeopardybecause you went outside of
God's timing.
So, if you're questioning it andif you don't know, pray about

(16:56):
it.
Keep seeking clarity, keepseeking wisdom from people
around you in regards to it.
And if you need extraencouragement on that, I have
plenty of podcast episodes thatreally talk about hearing God's
voice, knowing when it's time totake a move forward, things like
that.
However, if you know, You knowin your spirit that God is

(17:17):
calling you to this and he iswaiting on you to move.
He's just sitting there waiting.
The time is now and you justgotta go.
You know this and you're the onethat's hesitating.
You have a trust issue with Godbecause you're afraid to move
out of fear that has to do withmoney.
You're afraid to take actionbecause you're scared of money.

(17:39):
If God is calling you to itright now, if you give him your
yes, if you obey, if you trust,if you put in hard work and
effort.
If you plan well in order tomove and allow God into those
plans with you, even if it meanschanging it up a little bit,
then my friend, you will beokay.

(18:03):
You will financially be okay.
You have no idea how much Godwill care for you, how much he
will take care of you if yougive him your yes when he is
asking you to move right now.
You never know the doors that hewill open to ensure that you're
financially okay.
You never know the person thatall of a sudden will come along

(18:27):
and help financially to makesure that you're okay.
All the little and the bigblessings that God can and will
do for you all because you gavehim your yes Now this does not
mean that you say yes to yourcalling you take a step forward
you no longer fear money You'reconsistent for a week, and then
you fall off You can't do thatand then expect God to take care

(18:49):
of you financially when you'renot doing your part in
consistency In effort, ingrowing your faith and trust in
God, you got to do that, myfriend.
That is your part.
God's part is the outcome.
The results.
You have to let go of your feararound money.

(19:10):
And this is something that Ithink is the hardest one.
I have had to learn that over mytimes of taking leaps of faith,
where I left jobs to start mybusiness, I pivoted careers,
where I stopped one project tostart a whole different one
because I knew God was callingme to that one instead.

(19:31):
So many leaps of faith wheremoney was on the line and my
rent, my debts, all of that wasin jeopardy.
But I was always okay.
I was always okay.
Now I'm over here trying not tocry.
Because that's how powerful Godis.
I was always okay.
Because I just gave him my yesand I learned to trust every

(19:52):
step of the way.
I learned to put in effort everystep of the way.
I was financially always okay.
Doors opened that I wasn't evenexpecting.
Things came through that Iwasn't even expecting.
He is that good of a God.
If you would just stop allowingmoney to drive fear in you and

(20:14):
instead allow the God that livesin you to drive faith in you.
It's a journey.
This isn't an overnight thing.
But in order to get there, youhave to take action.
You have to work on your fear ofmoney day by day.
Let God be your master.
Let God be your treasure, notmoney.

(20:37):
And when you do, I truly believethat he will financially take
care of you more than you couldhave ever imagined.
So, this episode can definitelygive you a lot to think about.
When I was preparing to makethis episode, it gave me a lot
to think about, too, and reflecton.
And that's what I want you todo.
I want you to take time toreflect on what this episode

(20:59):
talked about.
Journal.
Pray.
And meditate on it.
This is the painful part aboutgrowth.
We gotta do the hard work togrow, to overcome, so that we
can finally move those feet.
Do what God is calling you todo.
I hope this episode blessed youtoday.
I hope that it gave yousomething powerful to think

(21:22):
about.
Share it with a friend if youfeel that they can also be
encouraged by this.

dealing with the fear that youface.
