Speaker (00:00):
I often get asked the question of, I don't know what
my calling is, angel.
I don't know how to go about mycalling.
Angel.
I'm not sure exactly what nextstep to take in this calling
that I know that God is callingme to angel.
Valid questions.
Great questions.
I've had them before too andlet's be real it, I.
It's frustrating when we reallydon't know the next, the next

(00:25):
step, uh, the what of something, the why of something, and
definitely the how behindsomething we tend to get,
especially stuck in the how.
If you know that God is callingyou to build that business, to
write that book, to finallystart that project, and you have
been putting it on the backburner, mainly because you just

(00:45):
don't know the how, or maybe youdo, but you're scared to
implement the how.
Maybe you're overthinking alittle bit.
Whatever the hold back is foryou, whatever the hesitation,
it's valid.
It's a real human emotion as wetry to obey in what God is
calling us to do.
Now, here's what I'vediscovered.

(01:05):
We overthink things.
We overthink things way too muchto the point where we are our
own reason as to why we'rehesitating, why it's delayed,
because we're overthinking.
I want to simplify something foryou.
By asking you this question, what if the answer to that next

(01:27):
step, the how behind going aboutit, what if that is found in
your story?
Just thinking about your story, reflecting on your story, and
allowing your story to shapeyour next step.
Let me explain what I mean.
Oftentimes.

(01:47):
Your story, your experience, what you've gone through, what
you've overcame, what you'restill learning to overcome.
Oftentimes that is the piecethat is needed in that next
step.
Oftentimes, that is the answerin regards to how we go about
something within our calling.
Your story, my friend, is yourministry.

(02:12):
A lot of times we think that ourstory.
Is something that shapes who weare.
It is our identity.
And a lot of times if ourstories are traumatic or they
have traumatic moments, we wantto avoid that because we're
trying to grow out of it.
We're trying to grow beyond it.
But what if that story issupposed to be attached to that

(02:35):
next step?
What if it's supposed to bethere for God-given reasons?
Especially when it comes to,like I mentioned earlier, the
how behind doing something, howto show up better on social
media.
How do you start your YouTubeand what do you even start
talking about?
How do you have thatconversation?

(02:56):
How do you go about writing thisbook?
What direction do you take?
We have all of these questionsthat have to do with the how and
where we get stuck is thinkingso much.
Overthinking it.
When it comes to our expertise,we're trying to have our
expertise be the solution to thehow that we are asking when in

(03:20):
actuality, your story is thesolution behind the how that you
are curious about how you talkabout that thing on social
media, YouTube, thatconversation in that book, the
direction you take, stopthinking so much about your
expertise and showcasing thatpivot, and instead think of your

(03:42):
story that is the starting pointof what you talk about and how
you talk about it and whatdirection to take.
You start there.
Your story is your ministry.
Why?
First thing, your story sets youapart.
It's what makes you unique.
Think about all the times youplay the comparison game, and

(04:04):
myself included, I havestruggled with playing the
comparison game for so manyyears and still struggle with it
to this day, but I have learnedthat it's much easier to break
the comparison game.
Off of my life.
When I think about how set apartI am, because of the story that
God gave me over the years, myexperiences, the good, the bad,

(04:25):
everything in between, it is apart of my unique experience
that nobody else to the T has.
Out of 8 billion people, I amset apart within the story that
God gave me.
And when it comes to pursuingwhat God is calling you to do
confidently, you want toremember that you are set apart

(04:48):
because there's going to bemoments in your journey where
you feel insecure, where youfeel doubtful, where you feel
like you wanna give up, whereyou play the comparison game and
all of those things will makeyou hesitate.
It will make you delay on thepath that God has called you to
rather than progressing throughit.
But when you remember, wait aminute, I'm set apart.

(05:11):
I'm not supposed to look likethem.
My journey is not supposed to betheir journey.
My timeline is not supposed tobe their timeline.
My personality is supposed to bedifferent because my story has
helped shaped the person that Iam today.
And the person that I am today,God is going to use more than I
could ever think or imagineusing me as a vessel, speaking

(05:34):
through me to other people, leveraging the creative ideas
that he has gifted to me tobring out into this world as a
way to plant a seed to someoneelse.
As a way to plant a seed in mylife and my family's life, to
the point where it istransformational.
You want to remember that youare set apart and you are

(05:54):
supposed to be second reason whyyour story is your ministry.
A part of your calling that Godhas placed on your spirit,
people can be changed by yourstory.
I talk about this a lot in mypodcast episodes because it's so
essential.
God wants to use you.

(06:14):
Not just for your benefit andyour blessings and your
transformations, and your wealthand wellbeing, he wants to use
you beyond yourself.
He will use you in ways where hespeaks through you, in ways
where he acts through you sothat the people that are getting
impacted by the words that arespoken or the actions that are

(06:37):
taken based off of what the HolySpirit is doing in and through
you.
They are being transformed.
There is a seed planted that Godneeds to be planted in the
timeline of their lives becausethey matter too, because they
were created by God too.
And what a gift for God tochoose you to help other people
in that way, again, it's notjust about your benefit, it's

(07:00):
also about the benefit of otherpeople.
Jesus will not only transformyou, but he will transform
people through your story.
Think about that.
Your story could be a part ofthe transformation that someone
needs, and how powerful is that?
It's not to put you on apedestal.

(07:21):
It's not to idolize you oridolize your story because
that's not what we're trying todo.
We are idolizing God for givingus a story that he can use to
transform us and our lives, andalso the people around us.
Third thing that I'll say inregards to your story being your
ministry and why that is.
It's because it's one of themain things that people can

(07:42):
relate to.
Especially in today's society, people want to feel seen, heard,
and understood.
They want to feel like you getthem.
They want to feel like you'vebeen where they are at.
They don't want to be constantlybombarded with people that are
way up here on a pedestal, authoritative.
They got all their stufftogether, they figured it out,

(08:04):
and then they're just hangingout way down below, desperately
trying to figure it out.
There is a strong disconnectwhen that happens between the
person and you.
However, when you get down tohuman, to human eye level with
somebody and they see that youhave been where they are at, or

(08:25):
that you are currently wherethey are at, that you relate,
that you get them, that youunderstand that you see them.
There is a special light thathappens there, a special divine
connection.
Your business, that book, thatmusic, that creative project,
that content, that coachingprogram, that product, whatever

(08:47):
it is that you are wanting tocreate and put out there in the
world, and therefore answerGod's calling over your life,
over your entrepreneurialambitions.
A big part of that is not yourexpertise.
It is your ability to relate tothe people that you are serving
in the industry that you're in,that is connection that is

(09:08):
humanness, and that can lead tothe kind of impact that God
wants you to make in what he'scalling you to do.
Now it's great to think aboutwhy our story is our ministry
and why we should share it outthere, and why we should
remember to reflect on that whenit comes to showing up and
thinking about how to dosomething, rather than trying to

(09:31):
lean so heavily on ourexpertise.
That's all great, but what Iwanna talk about is.
How can we actually pull ourstory into our calling, pull it
into what we're trying to do,into what we're trying to build
into, what we're trying to grow?
How do we do that?
And the reason why I wanna talkabout that is because a lot of

(09:53):
times we overthink this too.
We get confused on takingsomething like our story and how
it can even connect to whatwe're currently doing today.
And sometimes we don't want tobecause our story can feel
painful and we're trying to growbeyond that, right?
But I wanna give you some hopein encouraging you to bring your

(10:15):
story on over within what it isthat you're doing.
And how to do that in a way thatjust feels natural and not
forced.
First thing that I'll say inregards to how tie your story to
your specific industry.
Let me be clear about this.
If you have a specific storythat has to do with, uh,

(10:38):
perfectionism or procrastinationor abuse or any direction you
wanna take, no matter how deepit is, if you have a story,
let's say that is a part of yourstory, but maybe you're in the
beauty industry.
And you're like, how in theworld do I take moments, deep

(10:58):
moments in my story and connectit to the beauty industry that
I'm in?
Well, think about how parts ofyour story that shaped who you
are today.
Are still being reflected as yougo about the beauty business.
For example, how isperfectionism showing up in you
trying to be a beauty businessbuilder?
How is procrastination somethingthat you struggle with because

(11:21):
of something that you wentthrough in the past it to the
industry that you're in and getspecific with it?
The reason why I'm saying thisis because you don't just wanna
use your story within yourcalling and just flat out talk
about it.
You wanna connect it to theindustry that you're in.
Connect it to the audience thatGod is calling you to serve

(11:41):
based off of how they canreceive it and what they'll be
able to understand.
Stand.
For example, I am a Christianlife and business coach and
content creator.
What does it look like for me totalk about my issues with
emotional instability in thepast?
And talking about how thatemotional instability is

(12:03):
something I'm still healing fromtoday within my business,
meaning how I react or respondto business decisions Or what
feels like business failures oreven business successes, how do
I manage that and steward thatemotionally when pressure is
high?
I can relate my story to thosethings because I understand that
it's not just me.
It is also something that otherpeople may be struggling with

(12:25):
too.
Related to your industry, related to the people that God
is calling you to serve, make itmake sense, connect the dots,
and when you do that, younaturally lean on your story as
a way to share your voice, tohelp people to grow the
business.
Rather than feeling like youneed to be this super experty
authoritative person all thetime and share all the tips and

(12:47):
all the advice, that's great, but also talk about your story.
Your story is your ministry.
It is what people can relate to.
It is what helps them to seethat there is a way out.
There is a possibility becauseGod is using you, using your
story to speak through you, toother people, to act through you

(13:09):
to other people.
Again, not just for yourbenefit, but for theirs too.
The next thing that I'll say inregards to your story being your
ministry and how to go aboutthat.
Share your story in bite sizedlearnings, not as a full
transformation over multipleyears.
The reason why I say that isbecause when I say your story,

(13:32):
sometimes we think in the grandscheme of things over all of the
years that shaped our story.
This is all that I went through.
This is all that I had toovercome.
These are all the moments and wekind of look at our story as
like one big summary.
When it comes to how you shareit and how to use it within your
ministry, within your calling, within your business, within

(13:53):
whatever it is that God iscalling you to create in this
world, it's best to share it inbite sized learnings.
What I mean by this is thinkabout not just things that
happened in your childhood andthat being your story.
Think about moments.
Think about.
A specific situation oroccurrence that happened this

(14:17):
year.
Think about something that youare struggling with this week or
something that you're working ontoday.
Think about those things.
And the reason why I say that isbecause your story doesn't just
mean your past.
It also means the current.
Because your story isconsistently going to be shaped
over the entire time span ofyour life here on earth.

(14:39):
Meaning your story is not done.
Okay?
Talk about your story as it'sbeing shaped.
And relate those bite-sizedlearnings through those moments
that are happening this year, this week today.
Relate it to people in theindustry that God is calling you
to serve in, for example, Ishared a story through an

(15:01):
Instagram reel where I wastalking about how hard it is to
read the Bible.
I was talking about howsometimes I don't wanna read the
Bible, how I have a hard timefocusing.
And I shared a story of whathappened that morning bite-sized
learning bite-sized moment whereI'm talking about something that
happened that very morning whereI did not want to read the

(15:22):
Bible, and what helped me tofinally find the will to read.
So in this way, I'm sharing astory.
I'm sharing a moment thathappened in my life that's real,
that's raw, and I'm relating itto people in my industry.
Think about that for you too.
Your story doesn't always haveto be past things.
It also doesn't always have tobe traumatic things.

(15:44):
It's great if it is to helpplant a seed to people, but
don't be afraid to also usemoments that happened today,
that happened this week, thathappened this year, that
happened recently, because thoseare a part of your story too.
Those are a part of things thatyou have learned that you are
going through, that you areovercoming.

(16:05):
That you can align within theindustry that you're in.
Talk about it.
It's all still a part of yourstory and your story, my friend.
Is your ministry a beautiful wayto minister to people that God
is calling you to serve?
Through your business, throughyour product, through your
coaching program, through yourcourse, through that creative

(16:27):
venture, through that book, through that real estate
opportunity.
I don't care what it is, Godwill use your story for anything
to reach anyone in the industrythat he's called you to be in.
Now the final point that I wannamake in regards to how to share
more of your story as part ofyour ministry within your

(16:47):
calling, share it naturally asyou go about your day.
Don't feel like you need to havethis perfect backdrop, this
perfect setup to sit down yourphone and talk about your story,
and it's gonna be this heart toheart Instagram reel or TikTok
video or LinkedIn post that youput up.
No, you're doing too much.

(17:08):
Okay.
There are moments for that.
That's great, but more thanlikely that's gonna burn you out
because at that point you'rebeing a perfectionist.
You have to have the pictureperfect background and set up to
sit down and look good and talkabout your story to people that
are receiving it from behindthat video.
But my friend, there is a betterway, a more natural way, and a

(17:29):
much more authentic methodbehind this, and that is sharing
your story through bite-sizedlearnings in how you wanna teach
or encourage or educate people.
By just doing it throughout theday.
Naturally, if you're in thekitchen and you're cooking.
Hold up your phone against thecounter and talk while you're

(17:50):
cooking.
Let that be your next Instagramreel post.
If you are at the grocery storeand you bump into someone who's
in line waiting behind the cashregister right behind you, and a
conversation starts up, let thatbe the chance for you to plant a
seed through your storynaturally based on how the
conversation is going.
If you have a podcast or aYouTube channel, and let's say

(18:11):
you have a plan for what youwanna talk about today, you
already know the topic thatyou're gonna talk about, but
maybe your heart is somewhereelse.
Maybe you had a really bad dayand your heart is in a different
space.
Your mind is everywhere.
Why not take the topic youplanned, push that to the
following video or the followingpodcast episode, and instead

(18:32):
spend that podcast or YouTubetalking naturally about how
you're actually feeling in thatmoment.
What you're actually goingthrough, and how you wanna help
people through what you're goingthrough based on what happened
today.
This is what I mean.
So many times when we go aboutour callings, when we go about
our entrepreneurial ambitions,we overthink, we're
perfectionists.

(18:53):
It has to be right.
We have to say this, it has tolook like this.
I have this picture.
Perfect plan.
Now listen, I'm a huge planner.
I love everything about plansand time management, but what I
also love is authenticity.
Do it naturally.
Talk about it naturally as yougo about your day.
There's been so many times whereI've picked up my phone and I

(19:14):
talked about a moment in time ora story or relating to, uh,
something that I'm feelingcurrently or have felt and
relating it to the people in myindustry.
I've talked about it in the car.
I've talked about it during mywalk.
I've talked about it when I wasat the gym.
I've talked about it while I'mcooking, while I'm cleaning,
because it's natural.
I'm already doing these thingsthroughout the day.

(19:34):
And if you need someinspiration, feel free to pull
that from my Instagram.
I don't care if you follow me ornot.
If you do, great.
I, I love that and I appreciatethat, but I'm not saying that
for clout.
I'm not saying that to get youto follow me.
I'm saying that becausesometimes we just need
inspiration in regards to whatthat even looks like to step out
of fear and to walk inconfidence to actually do it.

(19:56):
And you'll notice that a lot ofmy Instagram reels are.
Really natural.
I'm walking or I am drinking mymorning coffee.
No makeup on.
I'm in the kitchen cooking ordoing something.
A lot of my reels are like that.
That is what I'm referring to.
Share your story.
Share how you felt or how youare feeling.
Get relatable based off of.

(20:18):
The industry you are in and thetarget audience you serve and
talk about it naturallythroughout the day, even if it's
in person and you have thebeautiful opportunity to talk
with someone through anin-person conversation, that
matters too.
If you try to have this picture, perfect plan and vision and set
up to share your story, it's notnatural.

(20:40):
There's a facade there.
Drop the facade, approach itauthentically, and when you do,
you get more confident in thatstory because you're just being
you.
And when you can just be you, itgives you more comfort to talk
about your story or yourfeelings or what you've gone
through and relating it to youraudience.

(21:02):
Now just to wrap up, I do wannasay this one tip.
As you share your story, whichis a part of your ministry,
within your calling, do not justtalk about yourself.
I know that that might feel alittle confusing because it's
like, well, if I'm sharing mystory or a moment that happened,
or how I'm feeling or have feltand trying to relate it to
people, I am gonna talk aboutmyself naturally, right?

(21:24):
It's my story.
Yes, I understand that, but youneed to be mindful about who is
watching that piece of content.
Who is listening to you talk inthat in-person conversation.
Who is listening to you onstage, that person doesn't just
want to hear about you.
They want to hear how your storyor that moment you're sharing is

(21:46):
going to help them.
So anytime you are talking aboutyour story and bringing it into
the industry that you're in,make sure that you are.
Circling it back around to howthat story impacts them.
How does it help them?
How can it help change them?
Talk about it, relate to them, share how it can help them
through education orencouragement, inspiration,

(22:09):
whatever that is, share it.
And again, if you need someinspiration on that, feel free
to pull that from my Instagram.
That's totally fine.
That's up to you because I don'tjust want you to listen to this
podcast episode and feelinspired by what I'm saying
here.
I want you to take action.
I want you to practice this.
I want you to get comfortablesharing your story and just

(22:29):
being real and relating it tothe industry that you're in and
to the people that God iscalling you to serve.
You can do this.
I know you can, and man, am I soexcited to see you walk in that
fully.
Thanks so much for tuning intotoday's episode.
