Let’s be real, friend...your motivation sucks. 🙃 You start strong, fired up about your God-given vision, then hit a plateau…and before you know it, weeks (even years) go by with little progress. You keep waiting to feel motivated, and it’s costing you the business, book, or dream God placed in your hands.

This episode is a much-needed heart check. I’m breaking down:
✨ Why relying on motivation will keep you stuck in cycles of starting and stopping
✨ The powerful shift from motivation → obedience (and why it changes everything)
✨ How to keep showing up even when you’re tired, unmotivated, or doubting yourself
✨ The three reminders that will give you the will to stay consistent in what God called you to do

Your future self is waiting on you. The people you’re called to impact are waiting on you. And above all...God already told you to DO IT. That alone is enough.

It’s time to stop delaying, stop relying on feelings, and start walking in obedience and discipline. Let’s go all in!

This isn’t about hype or quick fixes... it’s about choosing to trust God and keep going, even when your feelings say otherwise.

(00:00):
So your motivation is boo boo.

(00:03):
I'm gonna just get right intoit.
Your motivation lacks, it sucks.
It's inconsistent.
And honestly, you have been inthis pattern for a really long
time.
That roller coaster of, I'm somotivated, I'm doing what God is
calling me to do.
I'm putting in the effort, I'mputting in the work.
I'm just going, going, goingevery single day.
And then you plateau and nowyou're unmotivated, and now

(00:25):
you're really not doing nothingand you keep pushing things off
and all of a sudden.
Years go by where you have beendelaying what God is calling you
to do, all because you've reliedon your inconsistent motivation
that deems either your abilityor inability to do or God is

(00:47):
calling you to do.
Oh, I know.
Heart check.
You might be like, all right, angel, I was not ready for a
punch to the gut today, myfriend.
I promise you it's tough Love.
I say this because I want you tostop.
Delaying.
I want you to stop the back andforth wishy washiness of

(01:11):
starting the business of writingthat book, of finally going
about that venture, that ideathat God has placed on your mind
a long time ago, and maybeyou've started it and that's
great.
That's incredible that you did.
But my friend, did we stop?
Were we all of a sudden nolonger consistent?

(01:32):
Therefore, we didn't see growth.
We didn't see fruit beingproduced from this.
We're gonna talk about thattoday.
Now, if this is your first timelistening, hello.
I'm Angel Murray, and as you cantell, sometimes I kick off these
podcast episodes, giving toughlove, giving the real, because

(01:53):
we need that push.
Other times it's softer.
It's more emotional becausesometimes we also need that
level of relatability,entrepreneurship.
Needs both the push, theencouragement, and the emotional
relatability as well, so thatyou can do what God is calling
you to do.
And that's exactly what we talkabout on the God Empowered
Entrepreneur Podcast.

(02:14):
If you're a returning listener,it's so good to have you here
with me, friend, and I'm excitedto do this necessary tough love
of a heart check that a lot ofus need, including myself.
Here's the thing, we areconstantly looking to feel
motivated.
In order to take steps forward,in order to make progress, and

(02:37):
when we don't feel motivated, weare now no longer making
progress.
We are stuck in one step or weend up backtracking versus
moving forward.
Why this is not a finger pointto you as a person.
Let me just highlight that andgive you that breath of fresh

(03:00):
air.
Your inability to always bemotivated is not a reflection of
you doing something wrong.
I need to voice that because Iknow how easy it is to speak
down to yourself as a dreamer, and when you can't stay
motivated and you're questioningwhy you just can't seem to get
consistent or remain productive, and therefore nothing is growing

(03:21):
in your business.
Your idea, your calling, youblame yourself.
And you say, I'm the problem.
It's who I am.
It's how I am, and I guess Ijust can't do it.
You know what that is?
That is you allowing the enemyto take your inability to be
consistently motivated and toflip it on you, to blame you as

(03:42):
the issue to blame you assomeone who just simply can't do
it.
So now we're struggling withinsecurity.
Now we're questioning what ourpurpose even is in life.
Now we are dang near triggeredwith depression.
It's real.
I've been there and I know thatyou can relate to those feelings
too.

(04:02):
Here's the thing, I believe thatwhen it comes to you progressing
forward, you oftentimes do standin your own way.
You oftentimes are the thingthat's keeping you from
progressing in what God iscalling you to do, from seeing
growth, from seeing fruitsproduced, however.

(04:24):
Sometimes it's not about yourinability of actually doing it.
It's about you trusting in yourmotivation to help you do it,
versus trusting in God, that iswhat we need to fix.

(04:46):
I think a lot of times ashumans, we don't realize how
much we lean and rely on ourmotivation to get up and do
something, and if the motivationis not there, if it's gone, if
we're just not feeling it today,we won't do it.

(05:07):
And the only time we feel forcedto push past our motivation and
to do it anyway.
Is when we are scared that oursecurity is gonna be taken away.
For example, you might not feelmotivated to go to work, but
you're gonna force yourself togo to work because that's the
paycheck.
That's where you're gettingmoney.

(05:27):
You might not feel motivated todo the dishes and to clean your
house, but you're gonna forceyourself to do it because a lot
of times you feel secure in aclean, good looking home.
And if it's a hot mess, youranxiety is through the roof.
These are just examples and youcan relate to either one or just
pick an example in your ownmind.
At the end of the day, we relyway too much on our motivation

(05:49):
in order to see growth.
The reality is, my friend, yourmotivation is fleeting.
And as human beings, we cannotrely on something that is
fleeting in order to see growthor fruits being produced, you
are not always going to feelmotivated.

(06:11):
You shouldn't expect yourself toalways feel motivated.
That is the challenge, is youstill taking action.
You taking steps consistently indoing what God is calling you to
do, putting in effort daily, ingrowing your business, putting
in a consistent habit, andfinally writing that book and

(06:32):
finally getting healthy andfinally reaching that goal, you
have to overcome the challenge.
In the simple fact that you'renot always going to feel
motivated to do it, and ifyou're constantly looking for
motivation to help you do it,then you will fail.
I normally do not like the wordfail.

(06:54):
I don't prefer to use thatterminology because I tend to
not believe that something is anactual failure, but more so a
learning lesson.
But in that statement, I justneeded to shoot it to you
straight because.
You are listening to thisepisode because you struggle
with relying too much on yourmotivation and you can't seem to

(07:15):
work up enough motivation, andyou're wondering what's wrong
with you, and you're wonderingwhy you can't grow.
You're not growing becauseyou're trying to rely on your
motivation and you're settingyourself up for failure versus
success in what God is callingyou to do.
This is what I'm starting to seeis what separates extremely
successful people from peoplethat just can't seem to get that

(07:40):
business, that idea, that thingoff the ground.
There's a lot of differencesfrom.
Effort and consistency andtesting and trying and seeking
guidance from wise counsel orcoaches.
Yes, yes, yes.
But there was also one bigdifferentiator, which is

(08:01):
successful.
People didn't rely on just theirmotivation because they knew
that it was fleeting.
They showed up even when theywere not motivated.
They kept being consistent evenwhen they were not motivated.
They kept going even when theydid not feel like it.
Now, here's a question.
How, how do you keep going whenyou don't feel like it?

(08:23):
How do you be consistent whenyou're tired?
How do you continue to do whatGod is calling you to do when
you have no more motivation?
Or your motivation is constantlyback and forth.
I recently saw a post byentrepreneur and business guru,
Cody Sanchez.
You can look her up onInstagram.
She posts a lot of really greatcontent.

(08:44):
She has been in the game for along time, is a millionaire.
Huge inspiration.
Now, she put up this reel theother day and I'll link it, by
the way, in the description orshow notes down below, because I
gotta give credit where it'sdue.
She posted this reel.
That was creatively showing thedifference between motivation
and discipline and thevisualization of this Instagram

(09:06):
reel I thought was so creativeand a beautiful representation
of the difference between thetwo and why you cannot rely on
your motivation.
Instead, you have to learn torely on your discipline.
Now, I wanna take that and takeit a step further by
implementing God into more ofthat picture.
In order to keep going when yourmotivation lacks, you need to

(09:31):
rely on your obedience, not onyour motivation alone.
Obedience.
You obeying what God is callingyou to do then produces the
skill of being disciplinedwithin you.
So if you're like, okay, wait, what did angels say?
How do I keep going when mymotivation isn't there?

(09:53):
Pivot to your thinking from, Ineed to feel motivated to do
this, to I need to be obedient.
And that's why.
I'm doing this huge difference, but now we're at the point where
we're like, all right, well, howdo I work up the will to even be
obedient?
Because at the end of the day,God gives us free will.

(10:13):
He does not force you to obeywhat he's calling you to do.
He gives you a choice.
So you have to learn how to makethe choice to be obedient in the
first place so that you cancontinue doing what God is
calling you to do.
How do you do that?
How do you find that will firstthing God said.
So that's it.

(10:35):
You find that will byremembering and believing in the
fact that God said, so if Godtold you to do something.
Then that alone should be enoughfor you to do it.
A lot of times we're looking formore answers.
We're looking for moreconfirmation.
We're looking for more clarity.
We're looking for all of thisstuff when we know deep in our

(10:57):
spirit that God has called us todo this, and we are simply using
all of our questions and excusesas a way unintentionally to
disobey what God has initiallycalled us to do.
I know it's heavy.
But that's a heart check that alot of us need God telling you
to do.
It should be enough.

(11:19):
All of those questions, the why,the how, the what ifs, all of
those that is you accidentallytelling God that it's not
enough.
His answer, what he told you todo, it's not enough and you need
more.
Who are we to tell the creatorof the universe of our human?

(11:40):
Bodies of our biological makeup,of every living thing, existing
thing in this world, the sameLord yesterday, today, and
forever.
Who are we to tell him that whathe told us isn't enough?
Sometimes we need to reflect onour discontent with God because

(12:04):
our follow-up questions.
I know you got'em and Iunderstand I got'em too.
But if we're not careful, thosefollow up questions could be the
exact reason that prove to Godthat what he initially told us
to do isn't enough for us toactually do it.
And right now he could be tryingto challenge your faith and
trust in him to do it anyway, because you trust in him telling

(12:29):
you to do it.
And that being enough.
You believing that everythingelse you're wondering about will
get figured out as long as youkeep moving forward consistently
in doing what he's calling youto do.
The fact that God told you soshould be enough for you to have
the will to do it.
And if it is not, then that is acall for you to check your

(12:52):
relationship with him, where itneeds to grow, where trust needs
to be built.
Where the priority of him needsto be first before everything
else.
That is a conversation betweenyou and God.
Second thing to remember, tohelp you to find the will to be
obedient in doing what God iscalling you to do.
The people that are waiting foryour gift, your idea, your

(13:16):
business, your book, to plant aseed to spark the transformation
that needs to happen in theirlife.
They're waiting on you.
Your family, who you want tofinancially help, who you want
to show up as a leader for youwant to pave the way for your

(13:37):
children.
They're waiting on you.
God has already set apart thespecific people that are to be
impacted by your leadership andyour delay is delaying that
process.
That impact, that change, thattransformation.

(13:58):
One of the things that I've donemore recently, whenever I
struggle with the will to obeywhat God is calling me to do, I
don't wanna show up.
I'm tired.
I don't wanna put an effort.
One of the things that Iremember to help me keep going
is that I envision one daygetting certain family members
out of debt.

(14:18):
I envision setting my futurechildren up for success.
When it comes to their collegebeing paid for, if they want to
go to college, when it comes todemonstrating for them what it
means to be financially freethrough God, when it comes to
the people that I feel called toimpact, those that have been
sitting on an idea.

(14:39):
That they haven't started orthey started it, but they
stopped and they can't scale it.
Those people that are called toleadership and what will happen
when they feel impacted enoughto finally move forward in what
God is calling them to do.
All of these factors, they helpbring back the will for me to
continue to be obedient in Godbecause people are waiting on me

(15:03):
and rather than seeing that assomething that gives me
pressure.
I see it as something that givesme purpose.
It gives me a beautifulresponsibility.
I was chosen in this regard, andguess what?
My friend, so are you.
Last thing to help you to findthe will to be obedient in doing

(15:24):
what God is calling you to doconsistently is to remember that
your future you.
Is waiting on you.
A lot of times we get so stuckin the present.
We are so caught up in ourcircumstances and the problems
we're going through in thiscurrent season that it becomes
really difficult to believe inthe future version of ourselves

(15:47):
that we see.
I know that you have that visionthere of that someone who's more
confident, someone who is morefinancially free, someone who is
more mentally free in God,someone who is a trailblazer,
someone who reached that goal,you.
Envision a future version of youto some degree.
But let me ask you this, is thatjust a vision that you're

(16:11):
painting in your mind, or is ita reality that you truly do
believe in?
There's a difference.
Sometimes we need to questionour belief in something.
Do we actually believe that wecan do that?
That we can get there?
Because if we really do believein that.
Naturally that's going to sparkthe will for us to be obedient

(16:34):
in doing what God is calling usto do so that we can get there.
Not so that it's all about howwe want our future selves to be,
but so that we're stepping intothe future version of ourselves
that God wants us to be based onwhat he's calling us to do.
Right now, I need you toyourself.
My future me is waiting on me,but do I believe.

(16:55):
That she's real.
Do I believe that he's real?
When you really believe thatthere's a spark, there's a fire
in you to work up the faith togo all in towards that.
Listen, I know it's tough.
I know that when you don't feellike doing something, it's
really hard to force yourself todo it.

(17:17):
I understand.
It's easy to not do it.
It's easy to push things off.
It's easy to delay, but Goddoesn't call you to what's easy.
Oftentimes, he calls us towhat's hard because that is what
forces the change in us that heneeds to see, that he has been
calling us towards for a reallylong time now.
And when you get tired, when youfind yourself burning out, do a

(17:39):
body check, do a spiritualcheck, it's okay to rest.
Take a Sabbath.
It's okay to take breaks, that'sfine, but how do you do that
without putting your business, your idea, your book on a hiatus
on this delayed break?
If God isn't calling you topause and take a break, then

(18:01):
it's necessary.
It's vital.
For you to keep going.
Why?
For the very reasons we talkedthrough today, because God said
so.
Because there are people waitingon you and because your future
you is waiting on you.
So stop waiting for yourmotivation to be consistent and
start relying on your.

(18:21):
Obedience in what God is callingyou to do.
The time is now.
Thank you so much for tuning in.
I hope that this uplifted youand if you need any other
inspiration today, we got awhole backlog of previous
