What causes someone to go from lukewarm to on fire for God? And how do you keep that fire going?

Often, spiritual retreats center on the personal stories of every day men and women whose lives dramatically change after an encounter with God. Their stories are so powerful that it's hard not to be changed yourself. But once you leave the retreat and life intervenes, how do you get that "on-fired-ness" back?

Second only to going on retreat in person, this podcast brings those powerful conversion stories into your everyday life. Grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and join us each month as we share a new story to nourish your heart and soul.

In this introductory episode of the God is Good podcast, we turn the tables on me, Carol O'Brien, your podcast host. Instead of me asking the questions, we'll have a guest host asking about the podcast.

What is it all about? Who's it for? What's the motivation for doing it? And what do we hope to get out of it?

Carol (00:20):
Hello, friends in Christ.
Welcome to this introductoryepisode of the God is Good
podcast.
In this episode, we'll turn thetables on me, your host and
instead of me asking thequestions, we'll have a guest
host asking about the podcast.
What is it all about?
Who's it for?
What's the motivation for doingit?
And what do we hope to get outof it?

(00:42):
Well, let's dig in and find outthe answer to all those
questions with our guest host,Craig.

Craig (00:49):
What motivated you to do these podcasts?

Carol (00:51):
Well, I came back from that retreat that I was just on.
Everyone was on fire for Jesusand the Holy Spirit was very
present.
And you come back home and allof a sudden daily life gets in
the way.
You go back to work and you losethat on fire ness, you know?
It was about that time where Iwas just starting to feel like,

(01:13):
gosh, I really missed thatfeeling that you have while
you're on retreat.
I was having lunch with a friendof mine and she said to me,"So
what has God put on your heart?"And I just blurted out, I didn't
even know where it came from.
I said,"I want to do a podcast."Which is really funny because I
don't know how to do a podcast.

(01:35):
I've never done one.
I mean, I knew I wanted to dosomething to convert hearts
toward God but I wasn't quitesure what it was.
So when she asked, and I kind ofblurted it out, I thought, well,
how am I going to do this?
And, I remembered Matthew 19verse 26 where he says, For
human beings, it's impossible, but for God, all things are

(01:58):
possible.
And so I thought, if God reallywants me to do this, this is
something that I'll need hishelp to do, but I really feel
like a podcast is a greatopportunity to help bring
conversion stories into everydaylife.
So maybe if you haven't been onretreat for a while or you

(02:18):
haven't ever been on retreat, you can still experience a
conversion story of somebodygetting closer to God.
And maybe it'll speak tosomeone.
Maybe it'll convert someone'sheart.
So that's kind of mymotivation-- to convert hearts
with stories of people who havekind of gone through adversities
and made some conversions andnow are on fire for Jesus every

(02:43):
day.

Craig (02:44):
It sounds like the podcast is driving your
motivation and it's like you'recoming off a retreat again.

Carol (02:49):
For me or for the people who are listening?

Craig (02:51):
Well, I think for both.
I think when you hear theirstories, so I'd imagine, you get
the fire back and then I think,it will fan the flames with
others.

Carol (02:59):
I really hope so.
I really do feel like as much asit's been a process for the
people that I talk with toactually share their story, it's
also been something that's beenchanging me.
I mean, to hear their storiesand their courage and their love
for Jesus.
And so I'm getting maybe as muchout of this as, you know, i hope

(03:22):
our listeners.
And so I'm pretty excited aboutthat.
I feel like it's a healingprocess for the people who I've
been interviewing.
They're amazing people and Ican't wait to share them with
everyone.
These episodes so far have beenreally powerful.
And I'm really excited about it.

Craig (03:40):
That's awesome.
Well best of luck with it.

Carol (03:43):
Thanks.
God is good.

Craig (03:46):
All the time

Carol (03:47):
Amen.

Craig (03:48):
Amen.
