Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello, hello, and
welcome back to Learning to Live
in Truth.
We are so glad to be before youone more time.
I hope all is well.
I hope you're having a greatday.
Amen, my name is Catherine.
Amen, I am your host.
I hope that you are havingyou've had a good one.
Yeah, hold on, turn this down alittle bit.
(00:23):
Turn it down.
There we go.
Yeah, that's better.
All right, so I am ready to getinto the word.
I hope that you are.
Today, we're picking up at verse14, as promised, yeah, and we
are talking all about the gracethat Noah found before the Lord.
(00:46):
Amen, so now we are gettingready to go into building dark.
So let's do it.
Verse 14 what am I doing?
We gotta pray.
What am I doing?
Y'all know it.
Let's pray.
Thank you, god, for giving usyet another opportunity to get
(01:07):
into your word.
Thank you so much, father, thatyou have called us into this
place.
I want to hear and I want to beable to understand what you're
saying to us, not only in thishour, in this moment, but in
this season.
Pray, god, that you would useus to your glory.
Use, pray, god, that you use usto your glory.
Use me, father to your glory, awilling vessel, god, ready to
do what you called me to do.
I pray, god, that you wouldjust do what only you can.
(01:31):
I pray this prayer and we ask,in the precious name of Jesus
Christ, we do pray, amen, amen, hallelujah.
So we are picking up at verse14.
I hope that you were here onyesterday and listening.
If you have not, I want tosuggest that you go back, listen
(01:52):
to yesterday.
So, coming into the chapter, itmakes sense.
Yeah, because we left off at 14and he said make thee an ark of
gopher wood.
On whom shalt thou make in theark and shall pitch it within
and without with pitch, amen.
(02:13):
So what he says, uh instructsnoah to do, is to get some pine,
cypress type of wood, wood, wood that's strong and durable.
It's able to be able to what isit like?
A water resistance to it?
Yeah, that it won't crumble, much like what we use today.
(02:37):
It gets wet.
What is that wood?
Pressed wood, I think that'swhat it's called.
Yeah, it's a bunch of woodchips like put together to make.
This is wood that is solid.
Yeah.
And then he said when you makethe rooms, put some pitch on it.
(03:00):
Pitch in our language, our todaywould be, would be like caulk,
yeah, seal, it keeps, keeps umstuff from coming in or out.
Yeah, we see caulk on ourwindows, see caulk on our
bathtubs, caulk around our umwindows, um the borders of our
(03:22):
floor, of our um rooms.
We see all of that.
All of that is to protect againwhat is coming in and what is
coming out.
Nothing is damaged.
Yeah, so obviously that was themost good way of doing it before
they came up with somethingmuch cheaper, much more
attainable for us in our dayCalking, yeah, verse 15.
(03:42):
And he said and this is thefashion which thou shalt make of
it.
Makealky, yeah, verse 15.
And he said and this is thefashion which thou shalt make of
it.
Make it of the length of theart shall be 300 cubits and the
breadth of it 50 cubits and theheight of it 30 cubits.
Okay, so a cubit, because I'vealready, you know, bit, because
(04:08):
I've already, you know, did alittle bit of research, I guess
you could say, uh, a cube, it isfrom your middle finger, should
be here to your elbow.
That's about 18 inches, aboutround, about 18, and so the
length of it is 300, thethickness of the wood 50.
I mean, god, that's long, right, um, and then your height is 30
(04:30):
.
So, yeah, an ancient ship asthe bible describes here in my
commentary.
Ancient ship.
I'm not like our cruise ships,we get on, but, but I ain't
shitting, amen.
And another thing to note thefact that it's three stories
high.
We'll read that in the nextverse, but it's three stories
(04:53):
high and I would definitely, andI hope y'all would agree that
I'm sure that every room was bydesign.
Yeah, because we had a male anda female of every animal that
had been created.
Yeah, and then, of course, thefamily of noah.
Yeah, I think I'm getting aheadof myself, but I want to put
(05:13):
some things in perspective inyour mind.
Yeah, drinking the.
So verse 16 this is a windowshalt thou make to the ark, and
it is a cubit.
Shalt thou finish it above.
And the door of the ark shaltthou set in the side.
(05:38):
Therefore, with lower, secondand third story, shalt thou make
it.
Now, when I picture that, Ipicture that like Therefore,
with lower, second and thirdstory, shop, I'll make it.
Now when I picture that, Ipicture that like a skylight.
You know how we have a skylightso we can see up in the sky.
What's going on?
That window, that's the onlything that I can figure
(06:00):
no-transcript that the dove cameout of and came back into.
Yeah, so outside of that itsays that it is above and then
it says put aside, your there,I'm sure, so you can get in and
out.
Yeah, so I mean a little bit oflogic, a little bit of
spiritual.
We're going to put it together, right.
Yeah, y'all talk about it.
(06:22):
Look 17,.
He said, and behold, I, I dobring a flood of waters upon the
earth.
So god said this ain't nobodybut me.
I am bringing a flood into theearth to destroy all flesh.
So I'm doing this on purpose.
For purpose, yeah, becauseremember, earlier in yesterday
(06:48):
he said you know, he repentedthat he had made all of the
beads that he had made becauseof how they were acting, the
things that they were doing.
He repented of that.
He wished he hadn't.
Yeah, so we ought to be real, real mindful of that.
So he said to destroy all fleshwithin is the breath of that.
So he said to destroy all fleshwithin is the breath of life
(07:09):
From under heaven, andeverything that is in the earth
shall die.
All of it's going to die.
I'm getting rid of it.
Can you imagine what the landlooked like, what the world
looked like when that ship wasrising above the water?
All those bodies, the, theanimals, all of the debris?
(07:31):
You know, kind of like you know, after the flood is over, what
it looks like?
Oh my goodness, I can't evenimagine.
But just imagine it for amoment.
This is how it looked, amen.
Now we go on to verse 18.
He says but with all.
No, he says but with thee WillI establish my covenant.
(07:51):
So he is Talking Indirectly ordirectly to Noah.
He says With your obedience, through your obedience, this is
a covenant or promise that I'mgoing to make with you, that
that thou shalt come into theark, thou and thy sons and thy
(08:13):
wife and thy sons' wives, andwith thee.
So he says you know, this is apromise that I'm making with you
.
Know that you and your familywill be saved.
Y'all all are going to comeonto the ark.
Ark, he said.
And of every living thing, ofall flesh, two of every sort,
shalt thou bring into the ark tokeep them alive.
(08:36):
With thee, thou shalt be maleand female.
So every living thing of allflesh, of all flesh Of all flesh
, he said Of fowls after theirkind, and of cattle after their
kind, and of every creepingthing Of the earth, after his
time, two of every sort Shallcome unto thee To keep them
(09:00):
alive.
So the flesh that he's talkingabout In verse 20.
Is through his sons and hissons and their wives and the
children that they produce.
So that's going to save thehuman race.
He said I want to do it likethis.
(09:20):
And then he says you know allof the animals, one of one, male
, one female.
You know all of the animals, one male, one female.
He said the cattle.
He says the fish.
Look, he said the fowl of theair.
All, one of each, male andfemale.
That's just.
(09:46):
I mean, when you think aboutthat, it's like man Noah had a
lot of no, let's say it likethis Everything and anything, it
all surrendered unto the voiceof God.
I mean, can you imagine tryingto capture a vulture or an eagle
to get it inside of a ship?
Yeah, with a top over it.
Come on somebody.
Logically, that would make nosense.
That's impossible.
But with god all things arepossible.
(10:08):
Right?
Look at 21.
He says and take thou unto theeof all food that is eaten.
So everything that everybodyeats.
He says take some.
He says, thou shalt gather itto thee, and it shall be food
for thee and for them.
Thus did noah according to allthat God commanded him.
So did he.
(10:29):
Okay.
So Noah moved in obedience, based on what the Lord told him
to do.
He didn't ask him a whole lotof questions, did he According
to the word?
He didn't ask him a whole lotof questions, he just did what
he told him to do.
Isn't it something that we willask the lord a thousand
(10:50):
questions before we do whateverhe's told us to do?
Just do it.
Yeah, I mean, just do it,hallelujah.
And you know the things that wedon't know, the things we don't
understand.
He will bring us a sense ofpeace that surpasses
understanding.
Amen, all of that worry andthat fear and the stress and all
(11:13):
of that that comes in betweenbeing obedient.
Yeah, it's difficult,hallelujah, come on.
Tonight.
It's difficult, but if we aretrusting God to bring us through
, then we got to trust God tobring us through.
Yeah, whatever a blank we can'tfill, we got to know God to
bring us through.
You know, whatever a blank wecan't, we got to know that God
has already filled it,hallelujah.
He already knew the adversitythat we faced along the way.
(11:36):
Yeah, you just got to know that.
He got it.
He got it.
I was just praying here just afew minutes ago before I started
.
I mean, I had to talk to theLord for a minute, amen, because
there's some things happeningin my life I don't understand.
I mean I had to talk to theLord for a minute, amen, because
there's some things happeningin my life I don't understand.
I don't understand why.
I don't understand what is theissue.
I don't get it.
But because I'm trusting God, Ibelieve that he's going to work
(12:00):
it all out for my good.
Amen.
He is not here to make us gothrough hell in our water, amen.
But he does desire for us toprosper.
You gotta know that the journeyit ain't always smooth.
You're a journey especiallylike if you climb the mountain.
(12:21):
You got parts of it.
It's gonna be uh hard anddifficult to walk, to climb.
It's going to be places whereit's real smooth and easy to
walk on.
That's life.
You know what I mean.
Amen.
At the end of the day, we'retrusting God.
Trusting God, no matter howhigh the mountain is.
(12:41):
We know that we're not alone.
Come on somebody.
I hope that that was a word ofinspiration.
Uh, for somebody, amen, it wasdefinitely for me.
Amen.
We are not alone in thisjourney.
We are not alone in the thingsthat god is calling us to do,
amen.
And here's another thing thethings that god calls us to do,
(13:03):
it ain't always necessarily adeed.
Amen.
God calls us into differentarenas of life.
Amen, hallelujah.
We have to go through a periodof childhood, don't we?
Amen?
It's difficult and it's hard,but God, that's a part of the
process.
(13:23):
Amen, hallelujah.
And then we have to go throughwhat?
Young adulthood?
Then we have to go throughadulthood, amen.
We're living our life in stages, or in cycles, you could say,
and we are always gaining andlosing and doing all types of
things through this journey.
Then we go from being single tomarried Come on somebody,
(13:45):
hallelujah.
Then we go from being marriedto having children come on
somebody.
And all of these dynamics wegotta know, like a big pot of
soup, it's all working together.
Hey, man, god working ittogether, because he made
everything, he made everybodyfor him, and they were all made.
What?
By him, him For his glory, hallelujah, amen.
(14:08):
We got to know that God is inthe midst of whatever is
happening in your life.
All right, y'all, I'm ready topray.
I hope y'all are.
Father, we thank you so muchfor your grace and your mercy.
Thank you, god, for allowing, yet again, another opportunity
to be in your word.
Thank you, god, for clarity andgiving us some understanding,
making the way clear.
I pray, god, as we continue togo forth, even beyond listening
(14:33):
to this podcast, that you makeour way clear, god, as we go
forth following you as yourdisciples.
God, make the way clear becauseyou are the way, you are the
truth, you are the life.
Hallelujah, we thank you.
Thank you, god, for all of whoyou are and all that we are.
Because of that, father, webless your people, we bless your
(14:56):
name.
In Jesus Christ's name, I dopray.
Amen, amen and amen.
Hallelujah, amen.
I hope that y'all will comeback with me as we jump into
chapter 7 of this great book ofGenesis.
Amen.
So much love, so many blessingsfrom me to you.
Have a blessed day and ablessed night.
(15:19):
Amen, amen and amen.
