This week on “The Gold Hoops and God” podcast, I interviewed Gabriela Meza. She truly embodies the transnational experience as she grew up in various parts of California and in El Sauzal, Baja California. We were able to speak about indigenous struggles and solidarity work. One of my favorite parts of this episode is when we talk about how complex religion can be and that faith is about holding two things at once. I could not agree more! Another insight that I loved is how Gabriela reminds us that community includes our ancestors and that we possess tremendous gifts from our ancestors within us. She shares various ways in which faith is a form of resistance. We also talk about the power of therapy and taking up space. Remember, that Self-care is community care.
