Less than 30 days and you canfeel it.
The excitement's there, it'sright around the corner.
Guys are getting registered.
If you haven't already, goodluck.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
I don't want to hurt
anybody's feelings, but if you
haven't registered already, Ithink you're out of luck.
Unless you want to play in thechamp flight, you're on your own
, I think.
If you're registering this late, I think Dennis may put you
with Jaspers, Jeff Wong, LanceLacombe and you.
(00:53):
That'll be your foursome forthe Bless your heart For the
first round.
What do you think?
Speaker 3 (01:01):

Speaker 1 (01:03):
You out, you out on
that.
Yeah, I'm out.
Oh boy, yes, I just pulled itup.
Yeah, you could be a champ playplayer.
Maybe you could be a b-flightplayer and it's shown like three
d flight, d flights.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Uh, right now, so um
you know that as we're recording
, it could be different as youlisten.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Oh yeah, as when you
listen, most definitely it's
probably going to be, mostdefinitely it's probably going
to be different.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Yeah, most definitely
probably.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Most definitely
probably.
Oh boy, that's where we're at,man, feeling a little punchy.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
I'm excited.
I mean it's going to be fun.
It always is.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
It always is.
It always is Anything goodgoing on in your world.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
It's busy man.
September, october is always abusy month around here, so I
understand.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
I got lucky, spent
some time with the grandkids,
had some Work obligations and Imight as well just go ahead and
tell everybody I'm doing a, I'mwriting a book.
Oh, writing a book, and it willbe published, probably.
(02:18):
My guess is I actually justapproved the book cover
yesterday.
I'm thinking I don't know thatwe have an actual date yet, but
it's going to be like rightafter the National Championship.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Okay, so we're
working.
I didn't hear what that's about.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah, we're working.
Anyway, it doesn't haveanything to do with golf, so
let's just go ahead and get intothe episode and give everybody
all the information you're gonnaneed here we go, let's go do it
ladies and gentlemen, golf weekamateur tour proudly presents
(02:59):
golf week amateur tour, thepodcast talking about all things
golf Week Amateur Tour, including interviews with tour
directors, players and courseprofessionals.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Now here are your
hosts, tim Newman and El Paso
Las Cruces.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Tour Director, chris
Rocha yeah, hey, chris, we're
right back at it and again, oneof these days, we will not this
episode.
(03:34):
We're going to cut that partout.
You'll never hear me say what Ijust told you Right, that's
going to be to the cutting roomfloor.
That's going to be to thecutting room floor, but anyways,
eventually we'll have anouttakes episode, because
there's always something goingon always it's a fun time it is
(03:56):
so what's going on, man?
Speaker 3 (03:58):
nothing much just
getting ready where my real job
is.
I wish this was my real job,but my real job is the busy
month of September.
You know just working throughit, trying to finish our season,
as is everybody else around thecountry.
So you know sprinkling eventshere and there and, honestly,
(04:22):
from TPC Scottsdale all the wayto Nationals, it's nonstop.
It feels like a blur until Iland in Hilton Head and get to
relax a couple days and thenback to work.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Relax for a couple
days.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
You could be here,
for you're saying through
seniors this year no no, I'mjust saying you know, get back
to work and put my golf hat onand try and go win the thing.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
I actually get to
warm up and take some time in
the morning, okay, unless likelast year.
Just remember what happenedlast year.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
How much time you
took.
I would not take that much time.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Oh man.
Yeah, that's a story to tellone day, but it was crazy.
I'm surprised.
I made it, which ended up beingmy best finish ever, so maybe
I'll try it again and see whathappens.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Well, I'm hoping that
we'll be able to kind of
replicate some of the things wedid, you know, sitting around
the table and having a good time.
I'm not sure a lot of thosethings are going to happen this
year, just with everythingthat's going on, but maybe if we
don't do it at where we were,we do it somewhere else and
still have some fun.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yeah, we'll have a
good time.
It's going to be a littledifferent this year, first year
for the directors.
It's going to be a littledifferent this year, especially
for the directors, but I know wealways tend to figure it out
and we make it work.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
And just on that,
directors, as you're listening
to this, please make sure yourespond to the text message that
I sent you all over the weekendand that you've already
responded to the one that Jensent you, because we need to get
those things wrapped up andordered.
Really, they should havealready been done, but we may
(06:14):
have a day or two, so pleasemake sure you do that.
And again, here we go.
So, chris, we do have onemember of the month we haven't
mentioned yet.
Do you want to announce whothat is?
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Yes, definitely For
the member of the month.
We're going with Mark Meyerfrom the Contessi Tour.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Yeah, we just got
that back and it's a little late
to get him on for this episode.
We're going to see what we cando getting him on for the next
one, but we also need to startthinking about how we're going
to get the voting done for thePlayer of the Year.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
That's in the works,
but it's going to be exciting.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
So, jen, let me ask
you a question about that.
Is it possible for us to youknow, I don't know how much you
were involved with the surveyfrom last year to the tour
directors in terms of can we put, like a picture, the pictures
of the winners and like a linkto their segment and send that
out to tour directors?
Is that up and have them vote?
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Off the top of my
head, I don't know, but I'll see
what I can find out for you.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Saying there's a
chance.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Yeah, man.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
I'll do what I can.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
I think that's what
we're going to do in terms of
voting for the Player of theYear, I think that's and just
have tour directors vote on it,you know, since they were the
ones who were submitting thingsall year, and then we can just
go from there.
What do you think?
Let's take a break from theshow to hear about Strixon's ZX
(08:06):
Mark II irons.
Speaker 5 (08:08):
A great iron set
needs more than good looks.
It's got to be fast and got tobe pure, but good looks never
hurt either.
The all new ZX Mark II ironsfrom Strixon.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
So yeah, I think
that's what we're going to do.
We'll just put the picture andthe link with their name and
tour and let the tour directorsvote on that and go from there.
If that's possible, jane, canyou get back to us on that?
Yeah, all right, very good, that'd be awesome.
I appreciate it.
(08:43):
So we're so lucky to have youon tonight, because this is our
annual tour championship episodewhere we talk about all things
tour championship and we havesomebody from the national
office giving us all the insidescoop or the tea, as the kids
would say.
Oh geez.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
Now you see what it's
like living in the Newman
household.
Now you see what it's likeliving in the Newman household.
We have trivia to see if we candetermine what the actual slang
is these days.
So the T for the Golf WeekAmateur Tour.
I'm trying to riz it up.
I'm not claiming him, I'm justputting that out there I am.
(09:29):
I am not claiming him when hetalks like that.
Neither do our, our kids that'shilarious so uh, okay, so we're
uh gearing up.
Obviously, national championshipis, you know, right about a
month away and we are filled upin just about all of the flights
(09:53):
.
I think the biggest thing thatpeople should know is that we do
have waiting lists.
So, and the way that a waitinglist works is people are put on
the list when we have both theirregistration and their payment.
We keep track.
Everything is time stamped sowe know exactly when those
(10:13):
things came in.
So if you got in at, you know, one o'clock in the morning and
somebody else got in at 11o'clock at night, the one
o'clock in the morning person ishigher up on the wait list.
So we do keep track of that.
As far as the wait list goes, one of the most important things
for people to keep in mind isthat we are not touching that
(10:36):
wait list until after the lasttournament is done.
We've gone through, we've madesure that all of our points are
done.
We've made sure that any playerthat's been promoted to a new
flight, if they are already onthe tournament, they've already
registered and paid.
They're showing on the who'splaying list and then they get
(11:00):
moved up a flight because oftheir score.
They have priority over anybodywho's on the wait list, which
is why we are not touching thatwait list until after everything
is said and done.
That's probably one of thebiggest questions we're getting
right now.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Jen, let me just stop
you right there.
And just so everybody knows, there's still a ton of
tournaments out there.
There's a ton, you know.
So today there's a tournament.
Columbus Ohio has a tournamentat Jefferson Golf Country Club.
That's today, on a Monday, andthen you know, if you go down
(11:36):
the line, there's a ton ofone-day.
Well, there's some one-days,but there's a ton of two-day
tournaments in the final weekendof the year.
So it could be what do youthink, honey?
It could be October 1st, whenwe'll have all this stuff done,
(11:58):
if the last tournament is on the28th.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
So if the last
tournament is on the 28th, as
soon as all of the directors gettheir scores and reports
submitted, we are going to beworking to get those scores
posted, make sure that we'vegotten any of the last points
adjusted that we need to.
We're going to be doing all ofthat as quickly as we possibly
(12:23):
can.
People just have to rememberthat once those scores go up,
there is a manual process thatwe do behind the scenes to
ensure that every person whoplayed on somebody else's tour
gets the correct points.
We have to go back and see ifthey've missed something, so
that takes a little bit longer.
(12:44):
So the scores get postedquickly and then we have our our
manual process to to go through.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Is that the same
process for for seniors?
Because you just pull up thesenior schedule there.
Now there's not nearly as manytournaments for the end of the
season, but so the senior tourhas got to tournament all the
way up until the 30th ofSeptember.
Southern Virginia is playing atSleepy Hole on September 30th,
(13:18):
so that looks like that's thelast tournament of the year.
So is that process going to bethe same, and seniors should be
in that same mode.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
Yes, process is going
to be the same Now, of course,
because the nationalchampionship for golf week is
first the seniors.
We will do that's alwaysslightly behind when it comes to
getting everything updated forthe national championship.
So the focus will be first ongetting everything done for golf
(13:46):
week and then we'll shift gearstowards the seniors.
So again, if you go, ahead.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Let me stop.
Stop here Just as another pointof clarification.
Everybody knows that Jen and Iare married, we live together.
But understand, when she'stalking about this stuff, I'm
hearing it for the first time, just like everybody else is.
A lot of times I don't know,I'm not privy to any of these
things.
So I mean, if I knew I wouldtell you all before.
(14:15):
But again, I'm hearing thesethings and asking questions,
just like another tour member ortour director would be.
So just kind of bear with us asI go through that process too.
So just kind of bear with us as.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
I go through that
process too and I guess, in all
fairness to everyone listeningto you know both Tim and Chris
and everybody out therelistening.
I appreciate the questionsbecause we work so hard in the
national office and we go backand forth and talk about things
and check each other and makesure that we're following our
(14:49):
procedures and that we'retelling everyone the same thing.
Sometimes I forget that we'vehad that conversation and that
maybe we haven't shared all ofthe updates with the tour
director.
So you know, don't hesitate toask a question and sometimes I
just forget that I know it andyou don't.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
So All right, so I'll
try not to interrupt too much,
but go ahead.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
So, basically, what I
want to put out there is number
one if you are a tournamentplayer, if you're a member and
you want to go to the nationalchampionship, you need to
register and pay.
If you've got the fourtournaments and you know you
want to go, you need to registerand pay and get on the wait
(15:36):
list.
If your flight is sold out, there's no way you're going to
get in if you don't register andpay.
If you're thinking, oh, you'regoing to wait and see, you know,
we know that there are going tobe people who drop out.
We're, you know, like I said,about a month out.
In fact, I know we just hadsomebody today drop out saying
that a work commitment came upand now they can't play.
(15:56):
That's going to happen.
We'll get people withemergencies in their family.
You know somebody gets injured,as they're, you know, trying to
get more practice in.
So we know there will befluctuations in who's playing.
So if you want to have theability to come, register and
pay, if you don't get in and wedon't have a spot for you and
(16:18):
you're on the wait list, you'llget refunded your money.
So don't worry about that.
We've got systems in place, butthe key is register and pay.
The second key is, if you're onthe wait list, just hang tight,
because nothing's going tohappen until after the season is
over and we've made sure thatwe've got the adjustments.
(16:40):
You know, one of the biggestquestions that we have from
players is you know, I'mborderline.
What if I get moved up?
What if I play really well?
That's okay, you're going tohave priority over anybody in
the wait list, and that's.
We've had some questions comingin because this past weekend we
did have several players moveup.
(17:00):
I got a message from DennisMcCormick today just reminding
us to be ready once scores comein.
We know there are going to bemore players who get promoted,
so that's also why we know thatthe numbers, as it says.
You know, some of the flightsmight look like it's maxed out.
Some of that happened todaybecause players got bumped from
(17:22):
one flight to the next.
So we need all of that tosettle out and then we'll
address the wait list and then,if there is a player that's
already registered showing up onthe who's playing list and
something does happen, all youneed to do is send an email to
(17:44):
support at amateurgolftournet, let us know that things have
changed and you can't make it.
The deadline to withdraw fromthe tournament and get your
money back is October 1st.
So it doesn't matter what thereason is.
If you are registered and paidand showing up on the list and
you can't make it, don't want tocome, something happens.
(18:07):
The list and you can't make it,don't want to come something
happens, as long as it's beforeOctober 1st.
Send us in that email and youwill get refunded.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
And that October 1st
deadline is for both Golf
Weekend seniors.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
I believe.
So I say that I'll to double.
I'll double check and you knowI'm glad you're asking that I
say these things and themajority of what we have is on
the website.
If you go to either the GolfWeek website or the senior
website and on the homepage thenational homepage there's a
(18:45):
button that says nationalinformation, and look there.
Most of your questions will beanswered.
So I would just have to Timknows I'm not good at talking
and looking at the same time, soI'm not going to do that right
this second.
Maybe one of you can and seewhat it says on the senior page,
but I believe it is October 1st.
(19:05):
I'll really derail if I stopand try and look it's all good.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
I have a question
real quick, uh, yeah, so as far
as we know what the waitlist isconcerned, um, if, if that
player is on the waitlist, uh,about when will they get
notified if they don't make it?
You know, as far as if they'retraveling in plans of that
nature, like when will theroster be finalized, per se.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
That's a great
question and I don't know off
the top of my head what thatdate is.
I know that.
Let me put it to you this way.
I know that we have had in thepast couple of years, we've had
players who showed up and said, look, I'm here, I already we
will.
But as far as I can't predict,um, what it's going to be,
(20:11):
because you know, at some pointwhat happens is we send off
everything to printing, so thebig scoreboard that has the
names on it, there is a dropdead date for that Um, and so
people have to expect that ifthey, if there is a change
afterwards, they're not going toshow up exactly the same.
I can tell tin's got a question.
(20:33):
I can see it all over his faceit's not really a question, it's
a comment.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
you know, I don't
know that the the field is ever
set until actually they, everybody goes off, because you
know, there there's beeninstances where your tour
directors just don't show up.
They've got to be called out.
They were sleeping in the car, they missed tea time.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Hey, slow down, slow
down.
I made it All right.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
I wasn't going to
bring that up and actually I
think I had blocked that from mymemory and now that's coming
flooding back in For anybody Imade it.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
I put my bag on the
cart, I rolled three putts and
we were on the first seat.
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
I'm like I always do,
but again, the one point I
really want to make that Jensaid is this is really no
different than any othertournament in that, up until the
balls go in the air, people aredropping out and adding for any
number of different reasons.
It happens every year.
(21:37):
I mean, chris, you've been incharge of a course and Jen,
you've been in charge of acourse, where you're checking
people in and a tour directorwill say, hey, by the way,
so-and-so is not coming.
Something happened the firstday of the event.
Somebody just called me had togo home.
But whatever it is and thishappens, it happens every year.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
Yeah.
I do want to stress, though, that there are a couple of
things that I want to stress.
Yes, that's the case, but thisis more complicated in many
reasons, which is why we havethe deadlines and that's also
why we've got the date.
You know, part of why we say norefunds after the October 1st
(22:23):
is because we are committed tocertain things and the processes
that we go through, and we haveno problem and that's the most
lenient that we can be, justlike.
It's no different when tourdirectors say here's my
drop-dead date in order to get arefund.
So we've got that date so thatwe can do what we need to for
(22:46):
the logistics of close to youknow, a thousand players coming
in and all that is required tomake that go off as smoothly as
possible, and that's why we askfor flexibility, and so there is
not a problem if you're on thewait list.
And let's say, like Chris, youknow, we know you come from far
away.
Some of your players are goingto have a certain date that they
(23:09):
need to know by or make adecision by.
So I have people who will sendin an email to support at
amateurgolftournet saying I'm onthe wait list, but as of X, y,
z date.
If I'm not on, take me off thewait list.
That's fine too.
If I'm not on, take me off thewait list.
(23:30):
That's fine too.
Then we have people who say Ilive close enough.
And when I say close enough, itstill might be a six hour drive
, but they say I will be thereif there's a chance that I can
play.
And so there are people wholiterally show up at a course
with their bags so that ifsomebody isn't going to play,
they can go and take their spot.
So we need all of the playersto be flexible and understand
(23:53):
that.
If you're looking for aguarantee, if you're looking for
dates when you're going to nobuy, I can't tell you that.
All I can say is it goes backto if you want to play.
The way that that's going tohappen is first, you know,
register and pay.
If your flight is filled, you're going to be on the wait
list and then we will getthrough those people as best we
(24:19):
can.
When spots open because peopleare promoted from one flight to
the next, which opens upsomething in your flight, or
somebody drops out.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
All right, so let's
move on to registration.
Skins game and registration.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
What do we got for
Sarah?
Okay, so this is anothermessage from Dennis today saying
that if you want to play in theskins game so let me make this
point out there now for everyoneFor both the golf week tour and
the senior tour, we've got theoptional skins game, which is
before the national championshipthat takes place, that we have
(25:01):
spots for.
So go ahead, register and paynow.
That's open, it's available,it's on the website, so you can
go ahead and register and paynow.
That's open, it's available,it's on the website, so you can
go ahead and get in there.
All of the details are on thewebsite.
Again, I don't have them top ofmy head, but the information is
there.
Go ahead and sign up for that.
That is different from skinsduring the national championship
(25:28):
for each day that you'replaying, that is, you're all
going to pay on the on the firstday and we take care of that.
But so what Tim was justreferring to is the optional
skins game before the tournamentbegins.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
And that's a Hills
course at Palmetto.
The Palmetto dunes Hills courseat Palmetto dunes Hills Course
at Palmetto Dunes is where thebig scoreboard is.
Speaker 4 (25:52):
Okay and that
oftentimes can be a nice payout,
depending on what happens there.
So that's something for me toshare is about making your hotel
reservations or bookingwherever you're going to stay.
(26:14):
I know that the Beach House, which was recently renovated,
still has openings, so thatwould be a good place for you to
.
If you haven't already madereservations, you can check that
out.
I'm going to do a little plughere.
I didn't mention this to Timbefore, but I'll put it out
there If there's anybody who is.
(26:36):
For those of you.
I assume a lot of the audienceknows that Tim and I are
full-time RVers and we actuallylive at the Hilton Head Island
Motor Coach Resort, which is aresort for Class A and Class C
motorhomes.
So if you have a Class A, classC or a Super C RV and you're
(26:57):
looking for a place to stay, wedo have a promotion that you can
get a discount.
I did make a post.
I'll mention that so I'm sureTim can get some information
there.
There's a promotion that youcan book a stay anytime between
now and the end of the year andget a discount, but I know that
(27:20):
October is a busy month.
So give it a shot and maybeyou'll see us.
Even some of the golfprofessionals I know Tim has
made fun of me for this havestayed in the resort.
We used to have one who owned alot there, but no more.
But you know, if you want tocome, stay it's a great place
(27:42):
I'll do that.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
That's a first.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
I'll leave it alone.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
That's a first, so
you brought up the skins during
the national championship.
That's still going to be $60.
Exact change, exact change,exact change.
That could be $61 bills.
If you want, it could be $320bills.
It could be any combination of$60 in cash Not coin, but cash.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
I'm about to say
Coins are not allowed.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
We want cash money,
not coin money.
Cash $60 exact change, not $100.
And we give you $10 back, not$100.
And we give you $10 back, not$70, and we give you $10 back,
not $80.
We want $60.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Exactly, and please
don't take it out on the tour
directors at the courses whenthey say they don't have change
because they're given veryspecific instructions to not
make change.
So you know, just come prepared.
So there's that.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
Let's take a break
from the show to hear about
Strixon's ZX Mark II drivers.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
ZX Mark II drivers
are for major players, major
winners, major power.
All new ZX Mark II drivers onlyfrom Shrixod.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
There is another
question that I have gotten
asked about that I have notshared with anyone that I did
get an answer.
Now I am going to look at myphone so that I don't mess up
what I'm saying, and this refersto the senior national
championship.
So everybody knows that thesenior tour tee boxes are
(29:37):
different distances because it'sthe senior tour and we have
posted on there some of the teeboxes and people have been
asking hey, you know, if youlook at the tee boxes that are
listed and you looked at thecourses, you're going to think
that the yardages are outside ofthe range of what they're
supposed to play, outside of therange of what they're supposed
(30:00):
to play.
So just want to let you knowthat when it says that the
seniors are playing from thewhite tees, you need to know
that the yardages for the whitetees will be played below the
length of the yardage that'slisted.
So that means that if we haveto move the tees to accommodate
(30:22):
the distances, that's what'sgoing to happen.
So the yardages for the seniorswill be towards the high end of
what's in our tour manual, butthey will be within the correct
range.
So Champin A for the seniornational championship will be
(30:43):
right around 6,100 yards eachday.
So our Champin A is basically6,000 to 6,200.
So I'm telling you Champin Awill be right around 6,100 yards
.
So I'm telling you Champonnetwill be right around 6,100 yards
.
B and C, the range there is5,800 to 6,000.
(31:03):
I'm telling you B and C will beat, or just less, maybe a tad
than 6,000.
So they are going to be at thehigh end.
But so again, if you're lookingonline and you see white tees
and I've had people say, well, they're playing longer yardages
than even the champ no, they'renot.
(31:24):
The yardages will be adjustedand the deflight, which is 5,600
to 5,800, will be right atabout 5,800 each day.
So while they are going to beon the upper end of each flight
distance, they will be withinthe yardages, very close to it.
(31:48):
So don't don't look online andand panic and think something is
wrong.
They, they will be played atthe appropriate distances.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
Did that?
Answer that clearly?
Yeah, I mean it's nationalchampionship, Right it's?
Speaker 4 (32:11):
got to be Yep what?
Speaker 1 (32:14):
other questions.
Do you have Registration?
Is Tim and Chris going to be?
Speaker 4 (32:22):
broadcasting live
from registration this year.
I have been told that you are, that I was supposed to make sure
that you are.
So the question is are you?
We have room for you there.
We're planning on you beingthere.
Yeah, are you going to be there?
Speaker 1 (32:42):
I guess, I suppose, I
suppose We'll be there, we'll
be there 430 to 630.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
Is that a question or
a statement?
It's a statement 430 to 630.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Okay Period.
Come, hop on, have a quickconversation.
We love seeing everybodySpeaking of being live.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
Maybe we'll have some
irons to raffle off.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
That's where I was
going.
We're going to be accepting $10per chance and hopefully we'll
have enough to raffle off theirons before we leave on
Thursday.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
Yeah, so it would be
great if everybody plans on
stopping by the registrationtable.
You pick up all of your items.
It makes things a lot smootherfor registration in the morning.
We've got enough.
All of the tour directors whorun the different courses have a
lot on their plate incollecting your $60 of exact
change and getting everybodychecked in.
(33:51):
So it makes things go a lotsmoother.
If you come and you pick upyour items, make sure you know
where you're going.
I can't stress enough keeplooking at the websites for
information and updates.
There's lots of informationthere.
If you have questions, you canfirst ask your tour director.
(34:12):
If they're not sure, send it into support at
amateurgolftournet at that emailaddress and we'll get back to
you.
We're excited to have everybodydown.
The weather here has beenphenomenal.
Courses are in great shape.
I know I've been talking topeople playing just golf in
(34:34):
general on the island sayingthat the courses are in great
shape.
Pros are getting everythingready.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
I'm excited, is there
?
Speaker 4 (34:46):
anything I missed?
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Chris has been asking
for a long time if you're going
to bring us.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Stu's subs.
No, no, no.
What I said is are we going todo a show at Stu's subs?
That's what I said.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
Oh, I think you
should do that.
They would love it.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
It's the same.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
When you want to do
it.
How much golf are you playingwhen you come in?
When are you coming in?
Speaker 3 (35:12):
I'm coming in Tuesday
.
We will make it work.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
So it would have to
be either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Right, we'll talk
about it Be prepared.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
When on Tuesday are
you getting in?
Speaker 3 (35:28):
I'd have to look.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
Okay, yeah, because
Wednesday, remember, we've got
the tour directors meeting.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
Yeah, but if we did
it around lunchtime, chris, I
just need to get my assistant toget things set up and scheduled
.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
Yeah, so as long as
it's real clear, if you do that,
I might be able to get it setup for you, but you're on your
own for doing it because I'll begetting ready for tour director
night, so I can't help you withany technical stuff, you guys
would be on your own On Saturday.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
I mean Saturday.
On Tuesday I get in at 1.30.
By the time I get my car out ofSavannah it's like 4 o'clock,
just kidding, just like 2o'clock and then drive so.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
Yeah, so that's
probably.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
I don't know how late
they're open.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
I don't know.
I'll find out.
I'll find out how late they'reopen Tuesday and what time they
open on Wednesday it may be well, maybe in between golf week and
seniors it may be well Maybe inbetween golf week and seniors.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
Yeah, we'll see,
we'll make it work, we'll figure
it out, we'll figure somethingout.
We always figure something out.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
How about?
I think everybody's clear onthe rotation of the courses Any
new information on that, or justwhat's on the website?
No, I and be ready to rollright.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
Whatever is on the
website is the information that
I have for any of those things.
Is the information that I have.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
For any of those
things.
I will say with this, like youmentioned, most of the flights,
all the flights actually, exceptfor B flight, everybody will be
at that one course, B flight.
They're both playing twocourses Friday, Saturday and
then the top half on Sundaywe'll play Arthur Hills and the
(37:42):
bottom half we'll go playOrchard Reef.
So keep that in mind, that youhave to see what course you're
playing if you're in B flightfor Sunday.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
So you better get on
it.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
I mean, if you're in
the top half, just go to Arthur
Hills.
If you're on the cusp, youbetter start looking.
You better be refreshing thatemail either that or play better
.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
Go to Arthur Hills,
play better or that who's that?
Speaker 3 (38:14):
you said it, not me
alright.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
I will also just kind
of.
I will kind of put out therefor things to start thinking
about.
Every year we have players whosay, hey, I'm riding with
so-and-so who's on a differentcourse because they're in a
different flight.
Can you do anything?
No, whatever the flights are, they are, so you need to know
(38:39):
and plan your transportationneeds accordingly.
We don't take requests for whoyou're playing with.
There's a system that's usedbased on where you are in the
standings, and you know Dennisdoes all of that.
So that's very specific.
The other thing that I will putout there is that there will be
(39:03):
zero, none, no spectator cartsavailable.
Under no circumstances areplayers going to be able to, you
know, get in a cart, bringtheir own cart and you know,
ride with who they want oranything like that.
So that's not an option at all.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
So just kind of be
aware of of that as well nice
all right, well, chris you, you,you got tournament, uh, this
coming weekend yes, sir, tourfinal tour finals and I I, you
know with me.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
I think it's kind of
cool because we're
representative of two citiesthat are 45 minutes apart, so we
do one day at one city and oneday at the other and kind of
give everybody a chance to nottake advantage of being able to
sleep in their bed for both daystheir own bed okay.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
Well, that's good and
we will.
We'll see you at some point onthe Tuesday before National
Championship.
Any other words of wisdombefore we get back to the
regular episode next time?
Speaker 3 (40:20):
From me, yeah, from
you.
Have fun.
I mean, I think that's the mainthing is, it is national
championship.
Uh, like jen said, there are noexceptions on who you ride with
or who you play with, so mightas well have fun.
Meet new people.
I mean, that's what we're,that's what we talk about all
year, right, tim, it's so.
You get to meet new people, youget, you get to know people,
(40:40):
and the next year that you go,you get to see them again.
Um, there is lunch providedafter all three days.
Take advantage of that, becausethat's where you get to go,
meet other people and you get tohave a good time and some
pretty good food.
And yeah, I mean, then you'llknow where the awards are,
definitely Exactly.
Speaker 1 (41:01):
All right, my friend.
Speaker 4 (41:03):
Yes, and I do believe
we added a little extra lunch
for the seniors, if I'm notmistaken, as well, and it is a
great opportunity to seeeveryone catch up and just kind
of have a lot of fun with peoplefrom all over the country.
It's one of the best thingsabout it.
I love the fact that we havepeople and Tim and I have been
(41:26):
lucky and cursed whichever wayyou want to look at it right to
have been involved.
See people from across thecountry.
If you've had questions andsent in things throughout the
(41:49):
year, you've gotten either me orSusan in answering them and I
know I can say at least formyself if we've corresponded
over the year.
You know I always say look forme at National Championship.
I like to have the face to gowith the name and uh, so it's.
It's great seeing everyone andwe look forward to it.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
It's true, it's all
true, and Chris you know what?
Speaker 3 (42:16):
Oh, tim, let me do
one more thing before you before
you close this out.
Um, remember, we have the twoman challenge.
I think we need to change thetwo person challenge.
Uh, but get, get your partnerready, I think from what I'm
reading here.
Registration for those openOctober 1st.
So you know, $100 per team.
I've been lucky to be able towin part of the prize pool every
(42:40):
time I've gone, so any of youflyers looking for some partners
let me know.
And yeah, I mean it's a funtime and it's nice to go look at
the leaderboard and see whereyou stand and go from there.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
That does remind me
of one last important thing, and
that is this year all of theprizes for the actual national
championship for the places areVisa gift cards.
So in the past we've had someof our sponsors and some things
that were related to Hilton Head, so the prizes for the national
(43:13):
championship this year are ourgift cards.
Bye.
Speaker 3 (43:19):
Any other one last
things no, are we sure I'm
positive.
Speaker 4 (43:25):
I'm getting that evil
stare.
I know that.
Look, I'm done.
Speaker 1 (43:28):
I got one last thing,
Chris.
I got a text message from Lukethe other day.
Speaker 3 (43:35):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
He won the points
championship again Two of the
last three years.
He added to his arm tattoo andI told him three in a row is his
face tattoo and he said four ina row is the tramp stamp.
He's got to walk around likethat.
(44:00):
All national championshipPeople in Chicago, please,
please, throw in a zing for us,please, championship.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
So people in Chicago,
please, please, please throw
throw in a zan for us, please.
Speaker 1 (44:12):
All right, jen, thank
you so much for joining us
tonight.
I appreciate it.
I know everybody elseappreciates all the information
that you share with us.
Chris, good, good luck thisweekend and we will see you all
next time.
Speaker 4 (44:38):
Take care, have a
good one, bye.
