I'm so excited.
Today we have Jennifer Bostickwith Ageless Beauty Med Spa.
Welcome, Jennifer, Hi.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Karen, thanks for
having me.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
It's great to talk to
you today.
I'm super excited about yourbusiness and what you're
bringing to our community, andwhat I love to do here at the
Good Neighbor podcast is helpbusinesses connect with our
community and then anything elsethat's going on that's
important, that people want toknow about.
So I'm excited to talk to youand let the community get to
(00:49):
know you just a little bitbetter so tell me, excuse me,
tell me um so you, who you are, your background and um how you
ended up here.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
In advance, north
carolina, yeah sure so my name
is dr jennifer bostic, like yousaid, owner of ageless feeding
med spa.
I'm actually not a native tonorth carolina, nor is my
husband.
We both grew up in the tampabay florida area, went to
medical school at lecom inbradenton, florida, which is
where we met.
For our second two years ofmedical school we had the
(01:22):
opportunity to move to Erie, pennsylvania, to complete our
clinical rotation years.
From Erie we moved to Cleveland, ohio, for residency.
During that time we had twowonderful, beautiful boys with
lots of energy and we quicklyrealized that we needed to move
somewhere.
A lot warmer, so that they couldhave more of their outside
(01:44):
green time, so to speak.
Looked around, ended upchoosing to move to the
Winston-Salem Advance area to becloser to family.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Awesome Now.
So you've been south and eerie, colder climates and so forth,
so we like to call this LA LowerAdvance.
So you have moved to the EastCoast side of LA, don't you love
that?
So you've got family here.
That's awesome.
(02:13):
So you didn't have to kind ofmake the leap on your own.
A little bit of support systemwith your two boys, so that's
awesome.
Definitely, yes, love it.
So tell me a little bit abouthow you got started and how your
business came about.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Sure.
So growing up in grade school,I've always loved the world of
aesthetics.
I actually frequently didpeople's hair and makeup for
things like homecoming, prom,dance recitals.
It's always been a passion ofmine.
Also, prior to opening our medspa, I personally was getting
things like laser treatments, dermal filler, disc port, and I
(02:53):
really love the medicalaesthetic side of aesthetic
world.
It's really the art of medicine, so to speak.
Prior to moving to NorthCarolina, like I said, we were
in Cleveland, needed to getsomewhere warmer.
At the same time, we finishedour internal medicine residency
program and then my husband andI both worked as hospitalists
(03:17):
after that, as hospitalists, wewere working seven days on days,
hour, 12 hour shifts.
It was quite a gruelingschedule and we really only got
to see our kids 50 at the time.
It just wasn't, wasn't idealfor, you know, family and
wanting to spend time with them.
So, um, when we decided to makethe move, uh, I wanted to do
(03:42):
something with a much moreflexible schedule.
I initially took a job workingin various nursing facilities,
which I liked, but it quicklybecame longer days, more hours
at the facilities.
I was frequently having to domy notes at home, which really,
you know, was kind of defeatingthe whole purpose of having a
more flexible schedule and morefamily time.
(04:04):
So with that about a year ago Isat down with my husband and we
looked at things.
We had finally felt like wewere settled in our new home.
We're financially in a goodspot to pursue opening this new
business.
So here we are about 12 monthslater, all the planning and the
renovations and we opened abouta month ago.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Well, it is super
exciting and we're so glad that
you're here.
I can't wait for the communityto get to know you better and
hopefully visit and utilize someof your services.
So, speaking of that, tell me alittle bit about what sets you
apart, like with yourcredentials and training.
I know in conversations thatyou and I have had, it's like
(04:47):
you have more credentials thanjust your typical quote unquote,
if you will.
Med spa.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Correct yes, so one
of the main things that sets us
apart is that all of ourtreatments are performed by a
licensed physician, mainlymyself and my husband also does
treatments.
Here, too, we offer a full, complimentary consult for every
patient to ensure that they'regetting a customized treatment
plan based on what theirspecific skin and skincare needs
(05:19):
are.
We offer appointments on daysand times outside of our usual
business hours because ifanybody understands busy lives,
busy schedules, it's us, and wewant to make sure that we are
working with our customers toaccommodate their needs.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Got it, got it Okay.
What would you say is along-term vision for your
business?
Speaker 3 (05:46):
would you say, is a
long-term vision for your
business.
Well, when we were working onour business plan initially, we
wanted to make sure that ourfocus was on high-quality,
patient-centered care.
We want to be known in thecommunity as kind, compassionate
providers that make theirpatients feel at ease as soon as
they walk in the door.
We want to be known as theproviders who take the time to
actually sit down, truly listento our patients and their goals
(06:09):
and make that comprehensive planfor them.
With that being said, we'rehoping to grow our patient
census large enough to where myhusband can transition to
full-time at the med spa he'sactually still working as a
hospitalist and eventually oneday build a larger facility.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Oh, I love it, I love
it.
And I can tell you I felttotally at ease the first time I
met you and walked in to yourbeautiful, beautiful spa.
Yes, it was very welcoming andcomfortable.
Um, so, as far as liketreatments and things that
people can get, tell me likewhat a typical like treatment
(06:50):
and timeline would be forsomeone.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Well, it all depends
on what their needs and their
goals are.
Some people maybe just want todo some preventative treatments,
which should be your disc orperiodic laser treatment, some
hydro facials to kind of cleanout your pores, get rid of that
dead skin and then get them on areally good skin product
(07:14):
regimen to prevent and reversesome of the the aging process.
There we offer all top-notch,medical grade uh aesthetic
treatments.
We've got a top of the linelaser that does all sorts of
things.
Really it's it's my baby, butuh, it does uh superficial and
(07:34):
deep skin resurfacing.
It can target uh pigmentation,uh vascular concerns.
It does laser hair removal.
We can do full body, um body, with any of the above.
We also have a hydrafacialmachine, which I am in love with
.
It's amazing what you get offof the skin.
(07:55):
There's a little container thatcollects, you know, the fluid
and things.
You can see everything that'scome off of your face.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
It's unbelievable
really.
I bet no one has any idea yeahexactly.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
And of course we
offer dermal filler Dysport,
which is kind of the newer Botoxand Perfect Derm Appeal.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Okay, okay, awesome.
I bet it's kind of crazy thatno one has any idea how much
stuff and gunk that their skincollects on a daily basis and
then over time how that canaccumulate Exactly.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Exactly.
It's unbelievable.
And you know by cleaning yourskin that thoroughly and
exfoliating all of the skincareproducts that you use can absorb
better, deeper.
You get the most bang for yourbuck, so to speak, out of those
products.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Right, and that makes
sense.
So would you say, like for theaverage person?
They come in and they tell youyou, you know kind of what their
needs are.
How many times a year shouldthey expect to see you?
I said I know it's subjectiveto what they need, but so I
(09:07):
would say.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
As far as laser
treatments, for example, our
moderate depth treatment iscalled the Halo Laser
Resurfacing.
That treatment is typicallydone one to two times per year.
Our BBL, our broad-based lighttreatment, which is the more
superficial targets the pigment, the fine lines, the vascular
(09:28):
concerns we typically recommendthat you get that done every
three to four months, about fourtimes a year.
Hydro facials really could justdo those once a month.
You know, get a real goodservice.
Cleaning this port tends tolast about three to four months,
depending on location andamount used.
(09:49):
Dermal fillers really lasts adecent amount of time.
Some of them last nine to 12months or longer.
And then the perfect derma peelyou can do a couple times a
year, just again depending ondid you do laser treatments or
you know again what your needsare.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Okay, okay, awesome,
so this has been very
informative.
Do you have particular lines ofproducts that you like to
promote and carry in your store?
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Yes, Our absolute
favorite skincare line and we've
tried a bunch is Elastin.
We only offer products andservices that we truly believe
in and that we ourselves havetested and seen results.
And of all the skin careproducts we've tested, elastin
(10:38):
is, hands down, our absolutefavorite.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Awesome, awesome.
Well, I know you've shared acouple of them with me and I'm
excited to get back in there anduse some more.
This has truly been a pleasuretalking with you and learning
more about where you come fromand your business and having you
as a part of our community.
Tell folks how they can get intouch with you and what the
(11:02):
process is if they want toschedule a consultation with you
.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
Sure, so they can
book online, visit our website,
check out the types oftreatments and what they treat,
and kind of get an idea of whatthey may need.
