Craig, how's it going?
I?

started Outer Space Decks in 1998.
It stemmed from a summer joband I graduated CSU with a
degree in PE about the same timeand the business was looking
promising, so I ran with it andit's been a good decision since

1988.
And we build custom residentialdecks, pergolas, privacy
screens any outdoor structurethat you might need for your
backyard.

How did you get into thebusiness?

Speaker 3 (01:15):
I was working for a guy as a summer job when I was
in college and he didn't have agreat rapport with the clients.
So I started talking to theclients and developed
relationships with them and hescooted out of town and kind of

left that niche open for me andI created my own business and
ran with it.

What are some myths or misconceptions in your
business you?

Speaker 3 (01:47):
know that's a great question, Nick.
Myths or misconceptions?
I think a lot of people thinkdecks are easy and cheap and
quick and cheap and quick and Ithink the most surprise I get is

how involved the constructionprocess is and the cost is a
little more than people tend toexpect sometimes.
So that's something we dealwith.
But when they see our endproduct, I get accolades.
My clients are over the moonevery time, more than we
expected, craig, we love it.

(02:32):
So it's been great, but no realmyths and misconceptions.

beyond that, who are your target customers?
New homes or already builthomes?

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Who are your target customers new homes or already
built homes.
We will do any residentialclient who has an existing deck,
or any new build, a new housewith no deck.
So we target.
They target us for their needand there's really no

demographic that we don't hit.
We hit old houses, older people, new houses, young couples in
their first home, new builds,rebuilds, tearouts, and all over
the area from berthed towellington, greeley, fort
collins 10, greeley, fortCollins, loveland, everywhere
Outside work.
What do you do?

Speaker 2 (03:24):
for fun.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Well, when I'm not putting decks down, I really
enjoy fly fishing.
Do a lot of things outside withme.
My girlfriend hiking and paddleboating and fly fishing is my
passion.
In fact, I'm a volunteerinstructor, fly fishing
instructor at CYO Colorado YouthOutdoors.

Well, we are a small company, a crew of two, and we
do one job at a time.
We're there start to finishuntil we're 100% complete.
We don't disappear during themiddle of the job to tie up
loose ends someplace else.
When we're at your house, we'reat your house until we're done

and we're meticulous about ourdetails and our construction and
our carpentry skills are nextto none.
Nobody.
We build the nicest decks andpergolas in the area.
