This is the Good
Neighbor Podcast, the place
where local businesses andneighbors come together.
Here's your host, Nick George.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Welcome to the Good
Neighbor Podcast.
Are you in need of a partysetup company?
Well, one might be closer thanyou think.
Today I have the great pleasureof introducing your good
neighbor Chandy Weber, with ModPicnic Company.
Chandy, how's it going?
Speaker 3 (00:26):
It's going good, Nick
.
How are you today?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Excellent, having
some technical difficulties, but
we work through it.
Thanks for being patient.
We're excited to learn allabout you and your business, so
tell us about it.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yeah, absolutely so.
I own Mod Picnic Co.
We're located in Fort Collins, but we pretty much serve all of
Colorado and we're one ofColorado's original pop-up
picnic services.
So we've been around since 2021.
And we really focus on creatingunique picnic experience
(00:57):
primarily.
So pretty much our style isjust curating really stylish,
stress-free events for ourclients.
So anywhere from proposals toelopements, birthday parties,
bachelorette parties, etc.
We really just try to take thehassle out of it for our clients
so that way they can show upand actually enjoy their event
instead of having to stressabout the details.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
How did you get into
this business?
Speaker 3 (01:22):
So it's kind of crazy
.
How did you get into thisbusiness?
So it's kind of crazy.
So I work full time in tech andMod Picnic is pretty much my
side business that I get toreally run on the side and be my
creative outlet.
But so essentially, a couple ofyears ago, I found myself just
like wanting more of a creativeoutlet, essentially, and it kind
(01:43):
of worked out.
A couple was actually sellingmod picnic at the time and, um,
yeah, it kind of just lined upfor them to pass it on and I
took it over at that time.
So that was a little over twoyears ago.
Um, and, yeah, it's just beenfun.
I just building, I've beenbuilding off of what they've
built essentially, and, um, yeah, I've been getting to add my
(02:06):
own spin, personal details, style and all of that.
So it's been really fun.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
How old was their
book of business?
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Maybe you said that
twenty to twenty twenty one, and
then I purchased it 2023.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Okay, gotcha, gotcha.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Well, what are some
myths or misconceptions in the
party event setup world?
Speaker 3 (02:29):
So I would say,
specifically for Mod Picnic,
just because it's so unique, andI feel like people have a hard
time just like grasping exactlywhat we do and how we serve our
clients.
One thing I get a lot isthinking we're like a catering
company.
So we're not.
We actually just provide thefull setups, um, so we don't do
(02:50):
the food ourselves.
We do get to work with a lot oflocal businesses.
For example, we work with theWelsh rabbit for charcuterie.
Um, we work with, like, localflower spots as well, so we're
really connected within thelocal Fort Collins community,
which is nice, um, but yeah, wefocus on just creating a unique
design, curated for eachindividual and like what they're
(03:10):
looking for for their setup, and we don't do anything with
the food, so that one comes up aton.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
We know that
marketing is the heart of every
business.
Who are your target customersand how are you attracting them
now?
Speaker 3 (03:23):
yeah, um, our target
customers are really
bachelorette parties, likepretty much the bridal industry.
So whether you're just tryingto celebrate your bridal shower
or bachelorette party, so Iwould say um, anywhere from
early 20s to, you know, early40s.
So we have a wide range of likedemographics, but I would say
(03:45):
primarily the wedding industry,so those couples looking to get
engaged um having an elopement, bachelorette parties.
But we also do serve, like wedid we do a couple um corporate
events per year for our clients,as well as birthday parties.
So so it is really likewidespread, but I would say our
primary target is, like thewedding industry.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Have you ever thought
about doing your own podcast?
Speaker 3 (04:10):
I have not.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Outside of work.
What do you do for fun?
Speaker 3 (04:15):
You know I love to
travel.
I feel like that's why I workso hard.
So I have my full-time job andI have my picnic.
I'm actually off to Greece andItaly Thursday, which I'm super
excited about, but yeah, I justlove exploring new places,
whether it's a new country, anew city or even Fort Collins.
I feel like there's so much newthings that are like popping up
(04:37):
, and then outside of that, youcan probably catch me at a happy
hour during a weekday at likeright at five.
So yeah, that's what I do forfun to let loose.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Right, shandy, please
tell our listeners one thing
they should absolutely rememberabout Mod Picnic Company.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
I would say that it's
going to be our attention to
detail.
So pretty much we've madecustomized picnics and events
tailored to our clients.
So whether you have a specifictheme in mind so we have like a
garden party theme, or maybeyou're more of a pink girl, or
maybe you just like neutral basewe pretty much tailor our
(05:17):
picnics to be exactly the wayour clients want their event to
be, and then we always add instylish little details along the
way.
So I would say that's whatsticks out the most about Mod
Picnic.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Nice.
What's the best ways to get intouch with Mod Picnic company
online?
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Yeah, so on our
website, modpicnicco is the best
way to just learn more aboutour services, our packages.
There's a book now button righton there so you can kind of see
the different offerings we have.
And then, if you have a superunique event, we do have an
inquiry form that you can fillout at any time.
We're also super active onInstagram so you can message us
(06:00):
at any point in time.
Our handle is at modpicniccoand, yeah, we can get back to
you pretty much within the sameday or within 24 hours.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Is there a phone
number you give out?
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Yes, and our phone
number is 970-597-0136.
And that's a great number totext or call at any point in
time too, about your event.
Speaker 2 (06:28):

really appreciate you being on
the show and we really wish youand your company the very best
moving forward.
