This is the Good
Neighbor Podcast, the place
where local businesses andneighbors come together.
Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Welcome to the Good
Neighbor Podcast.
Are you in need of an exteriorremodeling company?
Well, one might be closer thanyou think.
Today I have the pleasure ofintroducing your good neighbor
John Quint, with Quint ProSiding and Windows.
John, how are you today?
Great, great.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Well, we're excited
to learn all about you and your
business.
Can you tell us a bit aboutyour company?
Yeah, we're an exteriorremodeling company.
We specialize in replacementwindows and upgraded siding
options.
We've been in business for alittle over eight years.
We've had two differentlocations over the years.
Right now we're in Rockwall, but we service the whole Metro
(00:56):
Plains.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Amazing.
And so, John, originally.
How did you get into thisbusiness?
Speaker 3 (01:06):
originally.
How did you get into thisbusiness?
I've been in the homeimprovement industry my whole
life.
My father was in the homeimprovement industry so I grew
up kind of around that industryas a kid.
My first jobs were in retailhome improvement and I just over
the years kind of grew aknowledge for it and I've always
loved talking with people andI've got recruited into sales
(01:30):
organizations for exteriorremodeling and, you know, loved
it.
And then I was a manufacturer'srep for a while for a product
and I just always enjoyed it.
So I wanted to start my ownbusiness and I just always
enjoyed it.
So I wanted to start my ownbusiness and you know, over the
years I saw things the way otherpeople did it and had my
(01:51):
opinions on how I wanted to dothings and I knew the only way I
would be able to get that doneis to start my own business.
So I started this, like I said,a little over eight years ago,
to do just that.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Amazing.
It's like they say when youwant something done right, you
got to do it yourself, rightyeah?
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah, you know I'm a
big believer in.
You know the lifestyle as well.
I love the lifestyle that comeswith this kind of a business as
well.
I get to be out meeting peopleand out and about.
You know I'm not in an office, you know eight hours a day.
You know under lights.
You know I get to be out outand you know experiencing.
(02:32):
You know all these remodels andthings like that, so it's
really enjoyable as well.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
So, John, go ahead
and tell our listeners what is
the most common myth ormisconception you come across in
your industry.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
All products are the
same, all installs are the same
and all companies are the same.
You know when you go out thereand get estimates you're going
to find that you know pricing isgoing to be all over the board
and it's hard to make sense ofthat sometimes.
But when you realize you knownot everything is the same.
You know there's a lot ofvariables that go into that and
so it's really important to makesure you know the company that
(03:13):
you're getting, you know thatprice from, so that you
understand what comes with thatprice and what doesn't come with
that price as well.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Most definitely, and,
on that note, who are your
target customers?
And, in terms of marketing, howdo you stay attractive to them?
Speaker 3 (03:32):
So we're looking for
somebody that's wanting to
upgrade their home.
You know they've had leaky oldhomes aluminum windows or
something like that, woodwindows possibly and they're
tired of maintaining them ordealing with you know the
troubles that come with that sothey're looking to change that
to something that's going to bebetter performing, longer
(03:55):
lasting, maintenance free.
We're, you know, a lot of timeswe'll have storms come through
and people will get a brokenwindow here or there, and you
know they'll call us to wanthave storms come through and
people will get a broken windowhere or there, and you know
they'll call us to want to comeout and take care of it.
But they're wanting to restoreit to how it was before the
storm, you know, affected it.
That's not really our customer.
Our customer is the one thatrealizes that, even in good
(04:17):
condition, that window wasn'twhat they wanted it to be.
So they're wanting to upgradeit to something that's going to
be more, you know, appealing, more energy efficient and, like
I said, more durable and longerlasting, and then with siding as
well.
If they're looking to restorethe outside of their house, you
(04:40):
know a painter can come in andmake small repairs and then
paint the house and give it afresh, updated look, whereas we
are somebody that wants to teareverything off to put something
on there that's not going to beneed to be constantly painted
and updated or maintained.
So they're.
They're looking to putsomething on there that's
maintenance free, that's goingto last them, you know,
hopefully the rest of theirlives rest of their lives, and
(05:09):
how often should customers be?
getting their windows and otherexterior areas repaired.
Windows, I mean, that's kind ofan opinion.
I mean, obviously if it'sleaking and you have issues and
they're broken, it's time.
But if you know there's fog inthe glass and you've replaced it
a few times, you know you mightlook at replacing that window
(05:31):
now with something that's notgoing to continue to do that.
So it's just, you know what isyour tolerance to putting up
with it.
You know, because I canalleviate all those issues that
you deal with.
You know it's just going totake money.
But the great thing about thatis it's an investment.
You know, when you're replacingglass, when you're repairing
(05:51):
your siding and getting paint, anew paint job, that's an
expense.
But if you put in a maintenancefree you know siding like Hardy
, you know that doesn't expandand contract and cause the paint
issues you're investing in yourhome expand and contract and
cause the paint issues you'reinvesting in your home.
So you're not going to have tospend that money over and over
(06:11):
again, adding up to the cost ofjust replacing it in the
beginning.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Anyway, let's go
ahead and switch gears for a
second.
Can you describe a hardship orlife challenge you overcame and
how it made you a better andstronger person today?
What comes to mind for you?
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Yeah, I've had a fun
journey through life and I've.
You know, family is really whathas changed that for me.
When I had kids, having to bethe person that they would look
up to became very important tome, and you realize that
(06:52):
sometimes you might not treatpeople properly, and those are
things that I dealt with.
I was very self-centered.
I would say I was not a meanperson or unkind.
I was very self-centered untilI had children and you know,
that really changed my outlookon life and helped me overcome
(07:13):
some of my challenges throughchildhood you know, raising my
children, and so, yeah, thatreally changed my life.
When I was a manufacturer's rep,I was traveling quite a bit and
being on the road once my sonwas born got tough, so I wanted
(07:34):
to do something that allowed meto be at home more.
So that's why I said thelifestyle of this is great as
well, because I get to be withmy family when I want to be as
well, so I get to set my owntimes and, you know, live the
lifestyle that I want.
So that's very important to me.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Right, I agree with
you 100%.
And family, no matter what, isalways so important.
John, please tell our listenersone thing you would like them
to remember about Quint ProSiding and Windows.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Wow, wow.
There's so much.
One thing I would like them toremember is you know we are
going to take good care of yourhome.
We are very invested and doinga good job when it comes to our
(08:37):
installs.
I take this very personally.
I'm involved in every project.
I love seeing the reactionswhen we're able to make these
upgrades to homes.
Sometimes people have beenwaiting, you know, years or
decades to get this stuff doneand to see that transformation
and to see how happy they are isgreat.
(08:59):
So just remember, we're in thiswith you.
You know we want to see youhappy at the end of this project
and we want you to enjoy theprocess getting there as well?
Speaker 2 (09:09):
