Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Good
Neighbor Podcast, the place
where local businesses andneighbors come together.
Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Welcome to the Good
Neighbor Podcast.
Are you in need of a generalcontractor?
Well, one may be closer thanyou think.
Today I have the pleasure ofintroducing you to your good
neighbors Kurt Landry and JordanBombershine with their company
Dunrite Home Professionals.
(00:31):
Kurt and Jordan, how are youboth today?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Great great.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Doing good, Great
Well.
We are so excited to learn allabout you and your business.
Can you tell us a bit aboutyour company?
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Absolutely Well.
First of all, thank you verymuch, sophia, for having us
today.
It's a pleasure to speak withyou and share our company.
We are Dunrite HomeProfessionals or a remodeling
company general contractingcompany, and we do both
residential and commercialremodeling company.
General contracting company andwe do both residential and
commercial remodeling.
(01:09):
Primarily residentialremodeling kitchen, bathrooms,
indoor, outdoor, interior, exterior, roofing whatever your
needs are, we can actually doremodeling from the ground up
and build a home if we have to.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Well, that is pretty
impressive, and so how did you
both get into this businessoriginally?
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Well, in 2006, my
wife and I and brother and
sister-in-law bought a generalstore, actually in a hotel in a
small town in Oklahoma.
The hotel was kind of a shotgunhotel 40 bedrooms.
(01:57):
We turned it into afive-bedroom bed and breakfast
and ended up building that outand the general store.
We just demoed the inside andredid it and actually turned
around and sold it.
So had a little bit of taste ofgetting into flipping, so to
(02:21):
speak, and it worked out great.
Just kind of gave us the lovefor being in this business and
you know we've been going at itand developing our crews and
doing it right here in the NorthDallas area.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Wow, what is the most
common myth or misconception
you come across in your industry?
Speaker 3 (02:50):
That's a great
question.
A lot of times we find customersthat are not happy with their
previous general contractor, orsomeone did a job and left them
or didn't do a great job, and sothe misconception in the
industry is that some generalcontractors will leave a job
undone.
(03:10):
We named the company Done RightHome Professionals because,
first of all, I hire only topprofessionals working with me
that really understand theircraft and we do it right.
I'm not leaving the home orbusiness until it's 100% done
right and we tell that to thecustomer throughout the process
that you have to be 100% happybefore I leave, and that's
(03:36):
pretty much given us the successthat we need from customers and
referrals going forward.
Who are your target clients and, in terms of marketing, how do
you attract them?
It's a great question.
(04:04):
We do a lot of referralbusiness, so our target audience
is anyone that needs a kitchenremodel or home remodel,
interior, exterior upgrade ofany sort.
We take it on and, thanks toJordan being my interior
designer and marketing, shehelps out a lot in that area.
I'll pass it over to Jordan forthe marketing and try to let
you know exactly what we dothere.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
Yeah, so we are
actually.
We've been rebranding ourwebsite and starting an
Instagram and we'll eventuallymove to Facebook.
I think that's kind of the nextstep for us.
Like he was saying a lot of ourclients.
We get a lot of our clientsthrough referrals, which is
amazing, just kind of showcaseshow good of a job my dad's team
(04:49):
does.
But, yes, moving forward, kindof promoting on Instagram and
that type of thing, we'relooking forward to jumping in
more in more.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
What about being a
family business outside of work?
What are some activities you?
Speaker 3 (05:11):
guys like to do
together for fun Together.
Well, jordan is pregnant andlooking to spend a lot of time
with the grandson-to-be and justreally excited about that.
Just a lot of time with agrandson-to-be and just really
excited about that, just a lotof.
Also, she'd been married forthree years now.
So, just you know, gettingtogether with family is really
(05:34):
important to us.
We spend a lot of time.
We're a very close-knit family.
I come from a very large familyso we're typically used to
being close and doing thingstogether.
So, personally, I like to playgolf.
I play golf with our husband,my son-in-law, and when we can
get together and sing in thechurch and just church
(06:00):
activities, jordan, you canshare.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
For me.
My husband and I actually justbought a property, so we are
completely renovating it.
It's kind of a cool process forme because I've worked with a
bunch of clients but now I'm myown client, so that's been
pretty exciting being able torenovate our own space.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yeah, I'm sure that's
a lot of fun, and congrats on
your family expanding Jordan.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
Thank you, we're
excited.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Girl or boy?
Speaker 4 (06:28):
Boy.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Oh well, that's
awesome.
Now let's go ahead and switchgears for a second.
Can either of you describe ahardship or life challenge you
overcame and how it made youbetter and stronger today?
What comes to mind for you?
Speaker 3 (06:47):
Well, what comes to
mind to me is I had parents that
passed away two days apart andit was life changing, of course,
put us on a different path, Ithink, in life, because we
weren't expecting them both topass at the same time.
The funny thing is my not funny, but the thing is my mother
(07:08):
passed on a Saturday and we werein the funeral home when we got
the call that my dad passed, and so people came to see my mom
and actually saw both of them.
So they were, you know, thestaple of the family, and and
did we?
What did we overcome?
Just the hardship of it.
(07:30):
I mean, when a tragedy likethat happens in your family, you
tend to want to, you know, gointo a cocoon.
But we flourish and I believewe've been blessed, and maybe
even more so since then, andmaybe it's divine intervention
(07:50):
that we're getting the customersthat we get and the responses
we get.
We've always had five-starreviews.
I've never had anything lessthan a five-star review, and
that has a lot to do with theguys that work for me, that are
really good at their craft, andJordan doing amazing designer
work for the customers andrendering so they can, you know,
(08:13):
see what the project's going tolook like even before we start,
so well, I'm sure they'relooking down on you from heaven
and very proud at what you bothhave done yes, we're, uh, we've
been blessed.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
So, kurt, please tell
our listeners one thing they
should remember about done righthome professionals, besides
your five-star reviews.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Well and I'm touched
on it we won't leave a
customer's home and sell us 100%.
We're really focused on bringingthe best quality service.
I'm not the most expensive, I'mnot the cheapest, but we're
going to always do it right andwe're going to give them the
best product that they canreceive.
(09:09):
I think we're a little bitdifferent in terms of being able
to offer a design.
You know Jordan does a lot ofinterior designs for customers,
but if they need a design, ifthey don't need necessarily
colors picked out or patterns ortiles selections, we still use
(09:29):
Jordan to do a design so theyhave something to look at when
we're going through the process.
Once we demo that house, thehome, they can't picture what
it's going to look like, and wepost up her renderings or her
drawings in the areas where theyou know, so they have an idea
(09:51):
of what it's going to look like, what they can expect.
It also helps my my guys thatwork for me knowing what's
coming, what's you know whatwe're doing, uh, and being on
top of it so that there's nevera question as to what the cost
the customer wants.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
So, jordan, if I can
jump in on that, yep, Good, I
was just going to ask you wherecan our listeners go to learn
more about Dunrite HomeProfessionals?
But I know you had something tosay before that, oh yeah, well,
they can go todunritehomeprofessionalscom.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
We have our portfolio
on there, some reviews, a
little bit about us, and thenthat's also where they can
contact us and reach out.
I'll let my dad touch base onhow that process starts.
But I would say, for theinterior design too, what's
really cool about done righthome pros is there aren't a lot
of contracting companies thathave an interior designer.
(10:46):
There's a lot of interiordesign companies that work with
contractors, but the nice thingabout our company is my dad and
I are in constant communication,so it's nice to have your
interior designer and yourcontractor on the same page, and
so I think that's whatseparates this company a little
bit, just having a designer onstaff.
(11:09):
And then I'm very flexible inhow we work with the clients.
You know, if they just want tosee a 3D visual, I can do that.
If they want tile and paintselections and that type of
thing, we can do that.
So we really cater towards whatthe client's needs are and not
so much.
This is what I'm going to dofor you and this is the payment
Right.
So it's kind of a nice.
(11:30):
It's like a la carte, I wouldsay, for our clients.
So it's kind of a nice.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
It's like a la carte,
I would say for our clients.
Amazing and well.
Kurt and Jordan, I reallyappreciate you both being on the
show.
We wish you and your businessthe best moving forward.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
Thank you very much.
Appreciate you having us,Sophia.
Yes, thank you so much.
Thank you having us Sophia.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
