Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Good
Neighbor Podcast, the place
where local businesses andneighbors come together.
Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Welcome to the Good
Neighbor Podcast.
Are you in need of a bridalcompany?
Well, one may be closer thanyou think.
Today I have the pleasure ofintroducing your good neighbor,
Diana Mikhailova, with Only you,Bridal Diana, how are you today
?
I'm doing great, sophia, thankyou so much for having me.
Yeah, it's a pleasure to haveyou on and so excited to learn
(00:31):
all about you and your businesstoday.
Can you start by telling ourlisteners a little bit about
your bridal shop Of?
Speaker 3 (00:38):
course, I'm Diana
Mikhailova, co-founder and CEO
of Only you Bridal.
We're located in Colleyville, which is just a short drive from
Frisco.
I co-founded our boutique withmy mom, liana Mihailova.
At Only your Bridal, weactually specialize in
custom-sized wedding gownstailored to each bride's unique
measurements, so you could saywe're not the standard
cookie-cutter type of boutique.
(00:59):
This helps our brides savethousands on alterations and
helping them create astress-free experience.
We do believe that bridal gownshopping should be an enjoyable
moment rather than somethingthat anybody kind of stresses
over.
We have partnered withexclusive European designers
known for their attention todetail and exceptional
craftsmanship, so there is nomass production, no outsourced
(01:22):
seams, just quality.
We have designers from theUnited States, bulgaria which is
actually where we're originallyfrom Greece, turkey, ukraine
and Latvia and, last but notleast, we also offer a
one-of-a-kind only youexperience, which is a luxury
at-home wedding gown try-onservice, whether at home or a
(01:43):
special location.
We bring the boutique to thebride so we can create a truly
unforgettable and accessibleexperience for everyone.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Wow Now, Diana, who
are some of those top designers
that you work with when it comesto wedding gowns?
Speaker 3 (02:00):
So a couple of our
favorites are Demetrius.
Demetrius is a very well-knownUS designer, but they're
actually originally from Greece,so that's a little unique fact
about them.
Another one that we absolutelylove working with is Aria Bride,
which is a Ukrainian designer.
They offer full customizationsand, honestly, we have not heard
(02:22):
a no as far as having specialasks by brides if something was
possible so far from them.
So those are a couple that weabsolutely adore.
Another one is we have IngaDesigns, who's from Latvia.
We have Madame Bursu, which isfrom Turkey, and they offer
couture gowns.
Really really gorgeous stuffcouture gowns, really, really
(02:48):
gorgeous stuff.
And, of course, we have knownsbridal, which is another
Ukrainian design that we have onour hands.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
So many questions for
you today.
But getting into it deeper, howdid you get into this business
originally?
Do you have your own Cinderellastory you wanted to share?
Speaker 3 (03:03):
So I wouldn't call it
a Cinderella story now but
honestly, the idea for Only youBridal was kind of born from
frustration, sprinkled in withsome corporate unfortunate story
and then a blessing in disguisecircumstance.
But I guess I won't be coy In2022, I was getting married
(03:26):
myself and as I was looking formy dream gown, I grew
increasingly frustrated.
Frustrated with the entireprocess.
Everything I tried on was justreally expensive.
Honestly, the quality was notthere, and when I found out that
after ordering a dress, itwouldn't even arrive for an
entire year and it wouldn't evenfit me at the end, that blew my
mind and I just couldn'tunderstand why.
(03:47):
That was a status quo.
So I ended up finding adesigner overseas that was able
to custom size, order my dressand when it arrived was
absolutely amazing.
It fit perfect.
I didn't need to do anything.
So that's kind of when the ideafor Only you Bridal was born, I
was like why isn't thissomething that's offered around
here?
(04:07):
But at the time I had a verycomfortable corporate job.
So you know, fast forward acouple of years, there was a
company acquisition and myposition was eliminated.
A month later I found out I waspregnant.
So, as fate would have it.
(04:27):
I, as I found myself lookingfor another position in the
corporate world while with child.
I quickly realized that thecorporate world was with child.
I quickly realized that thecorporate world was probably not
going to have me back anytimesoon.
So my mom and I decided to justgo for it, without original
idea we had, and at while I wassix months pregnant, we decided
(04:49):
to start the start, bringingonly you, bridal, to life.
And, yeah, I basically workeduntil day my water broke, but it
was honestly an amazingexperience and it's given us a
lot of freedom to spend timetogether and um lots of lessons
learned in the process wow, soyour child was born into the
(05:13):
industry?
Speaker 2 (05:13):
huh, exactly.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
What a better way to
start right.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
So, diana, we know
marketing is the heart of every
business.
Who are your target clients?
Speaker 3 (05:30):
So our brides are
most of the time, I would say
that they're fashion, forwardforward women that value
quality and they want a personal, stress-free experience.
Many could be professionals, creatives or just busy mamas who
want that great design withouthaving to compromise with
anything else.
We try to attract our customerbase through social media, but
(05:55):
mostly word of mouth, and bycreating those experiences that
brides like to talk about, especially with our at-home
wedding gown, try on service.
Once someone sees how easy andluxurious it is, they just want
it for themselves and refer afriend, which we're always,
always, grateful for.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Amazing, and have you
ever thought about doing your
own podcast?
Speaker 3 (06:20):
funny.
You say that I.
That was one of the ideas thatran through my head when I was
restructuring, restructuringthings, uh, in my personal life
and trying to decide what to do.
And I actually played aroundwith the idea of doing a podcast
on the topic of corporatecustomer success because that
(06:43):
was my background and I had alot of knowledge and I kind of
wanted to spread the wealth ofknowledge.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
But passion for
fashion won oh, my goodness, I'm
right there with you when itcomes to passion for fashion.
You always got to look yourbest, right?
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Now, outside of work,
when you're not a mama and
you're not running aroundhelping brides look their best,
what do you do for fun?
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Oh, to be honest with
you, right now, everything I do
for fun is actually evolvingaround my seven-month-old Just
because she is growing sorapidly.
Any moment I can spend with her, I do.
I was chatting with Mother ofthe Bride just a week ago.
We were talking aboutdevelopmental milestones and how
(07:34):
fast babies grow and she made areally funny joke.
She was like you know, we spentthe first couple of years
teaching our little ones how totalk and walk and then the rest
of their lives trying to tellthem to be quiet and sit down.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
I laughed so hard and
.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
But it made me
realize it's so true, they grow
up so fast and so I try to kindof live in the moment, live,
live in the blank, because she'sJust experiencing the world for
the first time and I get to doit right by her side and it's
just fascinating.
So most of my free time isspent with her just doing new
(08:15):
little activities that bring herjoy.
Like we went to the aquarium.
It was the most amazing.
I've never been to an aquarium.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
It feels like until I
went with her, everything was
just all inspiring like until Iwent with her, everything was
just all inspiring.
So, oh yeah, it's really thosefirst in life that you know are
the most near and dear to ourheart.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Exactly Now.
She never knew love before Imet her.
Now Diana, please tell ourlisteners one thing they should
remember about only you, bridal.
One thing to remember aboutonly you, bridal, I would say
that wedding dress shoppingdoesn't have to be overwhelming
or impersonal.
(09:02):
So, at only you, bridal, combine, as I like to say, old
world craftsmanship with modernconvenience.
So whether you want to comeinto our boutique or have us
come to you, we focus on thecustomer.
Our internal company motto isactually serve the customer.
Well, I took that from mycorporate background and I kind
(09:23):
of live by that.
So every bride does deserve tofeel beautiful and seen, and
that's what we deliver, and Iwould say a very reasonable
prices too.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
I was just gonna ask
you about the elephant in the
room.
Can you discuss budgeting whenwe talk about wedding dresses?
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Absolutely Very, very
reasonable question.
So the standard I guess in thebridal world they say the
average amount spent on awedding gown by most brides is
around $2,000.
So we try to offer a widevariety of options for to be
able to actually hit many bridesbudgets so we can help anybody
(10:16):
be able to create that specialmoment and have them say yes to
the dress as some like to sayand where can our listeners go
to learn more about?
Only you, bridal, I know wherecan our listeners go to learn
