What makes Jeny Rendon with Oh my Gatos, they said "I do!" a good neighbor?

Jeny Rendon’s story is one of resilience and love—turning a sudden corporate layoff into a beautiful new beginning. Known among friends as the ultimate wedding coordinator, Jeny skillfully planned her brother’s wedding in just three months and her best friend’s in six weeks. When her corporate career ended abruptly in 2024, she channeled her passion into founding Oh my Gatos, they said "I do!"—a name inspired by a joyful portrait session featuring Jeny in her wedding gown alongside one of her five cherished cats.

Since 2020, Jeny has opened her heart and home to six fur babies who inspire her every day. Her business not only reflects her love for weddings but also her deep commitment to providing for her feline family, turning officiating and coordination into a full-time mission fueled by passion and care.

Jeny’s approach centers on accessibility and peace of mind. She specializes in wedding day coordination—helping couples hand over their “planning baby” so they can fully enjoy their special moment stress-free. As she explains, coordinators differ from planners: while planners guide the entire wedding journey, coordinators step in on the big day to manage timing, enforce boundaries, and handle unexpected surprises.

True to her feline devotion, Jeny donates 10% of all proceeds to cat adoption organizations and lovingly names her service packages after her cats, adding a unique, heartfelt touch to every wedding.

If you’re ready for a wedding day coordinator who treats your special day like her own, visit Jeny’s website or find her at Carrollton pop-up markets to explore her packages and cat-themed merchandise.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place
where local businesses andneighbors come together.
Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast.
Are you in need of a weddingcoordinator for your big day?
Well, one may be closer thanyou think.
Today I have the pleasure ofintroducing your good neighbor,
Jenny Rendon, with.
Oh my Gatos, they Said I Do.
Jenny, how are you today?

Speaker 3 (00:31):
We're doing good.
We're doing good.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Great Well, so excited to have you on and I'm
sure our listeners are excitedto learn all about you and your
business.
Can you start off by telling usa little bit about your company
and its creative name?

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Yes.
So basically, oh my Gatas, theysaid I do started officially in
February of 2025.
So this particular year, however, I myself have always
been the friend, the sister, thewedding coordinator, the
wedding efficient, that personthat has always helped out all

(01:10):
my friends.
I will say, the biggestchallenges that I've ever had
was wedding coordinating mybrother's wedding.
We planned that specificwedding in three months I know
record time and then I thoughtthat that was going to be the
only hectic wedding that I wouldever do, until my best friend
decided that she was going toget married in less than a month

(01:31):
and a half, and so we had topiece it all together.
In less than a month and a halfI will say in September of 2024
, I was laid off from mycorporate job and I started
helping my friend with herspecific wedding.
That was my one month and ahalf challenge, and she was

(01:52):
looking for a wedding officiantand I told her hey, I'm a
wedding officiant, I can do itfor you.
And so I ended up creating abeautiful script for her and her
husband and I thought that youknow, fourth quarter.
That's why individuals are notcalling me back for an interview
.
I keep placing a whole bunch ofCVs and resume and after we did

(02:14):
her wedding, she told me hey,you did amazing, you like, you
helped me with one and a half.
You know we only had a monthand a half.
You helped me with one and ahalf.
You know, we only had a monthand a half and you also were a
great wedding efficient.
Can I refer you to a couple ofpeople in my Facebook group and
I was like sure, yeah, we candefinitely do that.

(02:36):
And we started off with somesign and go wedding efficient.
And at the same time I wascalled in for a portrait at Park
Hill to do a portrait with mypets, and I am a cat mom of five
.
Please don't judge me.
I am married, so it's not thatbad as it sounds.
I like to say that two cats toone person in a married

(03:01):
household is normal.
When I added the fifth one, that was just kind of like okay,
I've become a crazy cat lady, but I ended up taking my
beautiful cat and she's actuallyin our website and we ended up
taking a portrait together.
They asked me to bring abeautiful gown that I had.

(03:22):
They wanted something that wasformal and at the time I had
enough time and I said you knowwhat?
I'm going to take my weddingdress to the dry cleaners.
And when they called me forthis particular photo shoot, I
had just gotten my wedding dressback and I was like perfect,

(03:43):
we're going to go ahead and putour wedding dress on and we're
going to go take pictures withcats how beautiful this is.
And next thing, you know, whenthe portrait.
When I finally saw the pictureand I had just finished wedding
coordinating and weddingofficiating my friend's wedding
I was like this is it, this isthis is what I'm destined to do,
this is it?
This is this is what I'mdestined to do and we're going

(04:08):
to go full, full in let's youknow.
And so that is how we decided.
I kept looking at that portraitof myself in Vienna and so I
just kept thinking what would bea good name?
And in corporate world, whensomething would go really wrong,
I would always be like, oh myGod, those are like my fate.

(04:31):
My, my signature face to all ofmy employees would be like oh
my God, those like that was myface to them when something was
about to go wrong, clearly wrong.
So I looked at the picture andI was like, oh my gatos.
That looks amazing and that'show it popped up.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Oh my, gatos, they said I do, so your gatos had a
big part to play in the wholething.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
I got to feed the cats being laid off.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
They're expensive.
Oh, that's funny.
Now, in your industry, what isthe most common myth or
misconception you come across?
That really surprised you.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
So the biggest thing is, for when I was doing wedding
day coordinating, is themisconception that wedding day
coordinators are like weddingday plan or wedding planners.
Very big difference between thetwo, I would say.
Wedding planners are more ofthe.
They start from the verybeginning.

(05:39):
They help you with venueselection, they help you with
setting up your seatingarrangements, setting up your
decor, placing the theme, themagic that is going to go into
your wedding, and also gettingto know both of the couples in
the sense of what style ofwedding, what photographer.

(05:59):
So they're involved in all ofthose things.
We hope that in the future oh myGod, those can go into that
specific, have that specificservice.
But for the moment we're doingwedding day coordinating, and
wedding day coordinating isbasically the one person.
So let's say, you and yourhusband are very involved in

(06:20):
planning your wedding, but forthe actual day of you want that
day to be special to you andyour husband or you and your
partner.
Then you hand it over.
You hand over all your planningbaby to me and I make sure that
we execute strongly and that wemake your day just be what you

(06:41):
pictured and envisioned it to bewhen you started your planning.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
So, jenny, we know marketing is the heart of every
business.
How do you currently marketyour business and who are your
target clients?

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Yeah.
So wedding, the weddingindustry there, it's very
expensive and, honestly, Ialways target um different types
of Facebook groups, um to tomarket, towards Um.
The reason being is because, Iwill say, a lot of my previous
work was done with friends andfamily that I knew Um.

(07:20):
And so, for instance, I was uma manager in corporate world and
all of a sudden, one of myemployees was like my best
friend is getting married andshe's looking for a wedding
officiant on this particulardate and all of her wedding
officiants are out of her budget.
And I was like I'm a weddingofficiant, I can do it, and so I

(07:42):
wanted to create a space forall types of individuals to be
able to have that opportunity tostill have their wedding come
into fruition.
And so I will say I have been aguest at many backyard weddings
and the creativity that has goneto backyard weddings has been

(08:02):
phenomenal.
I walk into somebody's backyardand all of a sudden it turns
into like a beautiful wonderlandfull of love and magic.
So I understand, especially inthe current economy that we're
in.
So I'm trying to stick to beingbudget friendly and really
reaching out to thoseindividuals who want a magical

(08:24):
day and may not be able toafford it but, at the same time,
still want to have thatspecific moment either creating
a script that's personalized tothem or being able to have a
wedding day coordinator.
Because, even though you'rehaving a backyard wedding,
wedding day coordinators arestill essential, especially if
you're trying to make sure thatyou capture a specific photo or

(08:45):
you don't allow certain familymembers who weren't invited in.
You know, we are the peoplethat could be the enforcers of
the rules that you set for yourday.
So that's pretty much my realmis our Facebook groups,
instagram and also making surethat we stick into a

(09:05):
budget-friendly range so thatanybody could have that magic
moment.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Oh well, that's beautiful.
Now, Jenny, have you, and maybeyou got those two thought of
ever having your own podcast uh,my cats marrying each other,

(09:35):
because they have their ownlittle buddy, Um.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
So you'll see, uh, Vienna and Berlin, because I
will say they are.
When I have my weddingefficient packages, we have the
Vienna package, Berlin package,uh, Cinder package, Night OB
package.
So they're all named after mycats.
Um, and that's what weoriginally started with, Um.
But I will say, I mean, you'llhear a lot of meows from them,

(09:56):
but we can definitely put somevoiceovers because they all have
their own little sassy attitude.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
So, Jenny, please tell our listeners one thing you
want them to remember about.
Oh, my God, those days that Ido.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Yeah, so, um, I'm a big um cat lover and I will say
10% of all of our proceeds go tocat adoptions, um, and so we
make sure to give back um torehoming cats, because I cannot
take them all in.
The cat randomizer needs tostop selecting me.
I have three, so we have fivecats, two of which my husband

(10:37):
purchased because it was duringa time in 2020 when his cat
passed away.
So he actually ended upadopting his two babies from
Operation Kindness, and so theywere wonderful.
They did such a great job, evenduring COVID time.
It was an amazing experience.

(11:04):
But I will say, for me, my catexperience has been I walk into
a family member's house andthey're like this cat keeps
eating the chickens we're goingto, we're going to we need to
get rid of her, and I'm likedon't get rid of her, I'll take
her, that'll be my cat.
And then I keep telling myselfthat I'm going to give them away
after I bring them home, andthat doesn't tend to happen.
So that's how I ended up.
All of my three cats have beenfree.

(11:26):
My husband has two and I havethree that are specifically mine
.
So, oh my God, oh my Gatos, they Said I Do, is um committed
to doing 10% of their proceedsto go back into cat adoptions,
because, while I would love tohave a hundred cats running
around, that's just not going tobe our life right now.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
And finally, jenny, where can our listeners go to
learn more about?
Oh, my Gatos, they Said I Do.

Speaker 3 (11:53):

some pop-up markets in theCarrollton facility here at

(12:15):

some of the cat merch to be ableto give back to our cat
community.
We also do pet jewelry.
