What makes Chris Plaza with Jetmo LLC a Good Neighbor?

Thinking homeownership is out of reach because you don't have a massive down payment saved? Think again. Chris Plaza of Jetmo LLC joins the Good Neighbor Podcast to shatter one of the most persistent myths keeping potential homebuyers on the sidelines.

After 15 years in the lighting industry, Chris made a career pivot when a close friend recognized his natural talent for helping others. Now approaching his eleventh year as a mortgage broker serving communities across Texas, Chris has built his reputation on something he considers increasingly rare in today's business landscape: exceptional customer service.

"Customer service is a dying breed," Chris observes, setting his mortgage brokerage apart by maintaining seven-day availability for clients—sometimes answering calls as late as 9 PM when urgent situations arise. This dedication has earned Jetmo LLC nearly 65 detailed five-star Google reviews, a testament to Chris's commitment to going above and beyond for clients navigating the complex process of home financing.

The conversation reveals how down payment assistance programs create accessible pathways to homeownership and equity-building without depleting savings. Chris also offers a glimpse into his work-life balance, juggling mortgage brokerage responsibilities with family travel adventures and his children's soccer activities that have "literally taken over" his life.

Whether you're ready to purchase now or preparing for future homeownership, Chris welcomes your questions and concerns.

our listeners a little bit about your company.
So we're a mortgage brokeragethat does Texas as a whole.
We'll do loans all around TexasDallas, austin, san Antonio,
houston and all the surroundingareas.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
And how did you get into this business?

Speaker 3 (00:56):
So, not to make a story too long, I was in the
lighting industry for like 15years.
Me and my family owned a store, managed several stores around
the Houston area.
And then I have a friend he'sactually one of my best friends
that was in the mortgageindustry and said that I would
like to.
I'd loved helping people getinto their first home, second

(01:18):
home investing it's a reallygreat way to invest and the rest
is history.
I've been doing it for aboutgoing on 11 years.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Wow, now, having so much history in your industry,
what is the most common myth ormisconception you typically come
across?

Speaker 3 (01:47):
That first-time homebuyers need to have a ton of
money to buy a home.
We have some really great downpayment assistance programs that
allow people to get into homesfor little to no money down.
It's a really great avenue togive people equity in a property
without having to deplete alltheir cash.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Now we know marketing is the heart of every business.
How do you currently marketyour business and who are your
target customers or audience?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah, so I work a lot with past clients.
I do focus on five-star reviewson Google I've almost got about
65-star reviews make sure thatmy clients write detailed
reviews, not like, hey, Chrisdid good, because that's not
going to really tell people verymuch about what I do.
I do actually house an officeout of a realtor brokerage as

(02:44):
well, so I have about 50realtors that I help with their
day to day clients and then justnetworking through family and
friends and stuff like that.
That's basically kind of how Ibuilt my business.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Now, have you ever thought of having your own
podcast?

Speaker 3 (03:05):
I have not.
I don't know if I could handlethat with family and my busy
schedule.
My kids play soccer, so it'slike literally it took over my
life.
So I'm literally mortgages, soccer and family.
That's basically it.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Well, you already answered my next question.
I was going to ask outside ofwork, what do you and your
family like to do for fun?

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yeah, we travel.
We just got back from ElSalvador.
That was a fun trip, but we dodo a lot of travel.
We have several trips for theend of the year.
We're going to Massachusettsand then I'll be in Detroit in
October.
And we're going toMassachusetts and uh, and then
I'll be in Detroit, um inOctober and, uh, we're going to
San Miguel in September.

(03:49):
So, yeah, we do a lot oftraveling and um just get
together with friends and familythat we hold near and dear to
our hearts.
And then the soccer, of course, yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Yes, Can't forget the children Now with me a lot.
Please tell our listeners onething they should remember about
Jetmo LLC.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
One thing that they should remember is that we are
always there for our clients.
I answer the phone seven days aweek.
Clients I answer the phoneseven days a week.
You know, if there's a tighttimeline on a home purchase or a
refinance, I'll make sure thatI'm there for them at all times.
I mean I've answered the phoneas late as nine o'clock.

(04:38):
I don't want everybody to callme at nine o'clock but in
certain instances I will do itright.
You know you have a family.
You have to kind of balancethat work and family aspect.
But I'm there for my clients.
That's really, I think, why Ihave such a high review on
Google.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
And, as a mortgage brokerage, what makes your
company stand out the most?

Speaker 3 (05:05):
I think customer service I think it's a dying
breed customer service.
I mean I've been in thecustomer service industry for 25
years it's crazy to say, but Ithink that is something that is
lacking in the world period.
In sales, I think you don't getthe level of customer service

(05:25):
that I guess you're used to.
So I think that's why I holdthat with such high regard with
doing what.
I do and helping clients, because I know that people get
really bad customers.
I mean, I've got bad customerservice and I can point it out
immediately.
I'm like, oh, this is horriblebad customer service.
And I can like point it outimmediately.

(05:45):
I'm like, oh, this is horrible, but I do have hope and I strive
to do that for my clients.
Just give them, you know, justthat, wow, he did such a great
job, he went beyond.
You know, what he really neededto do is kind of like going and
answering the phone at nineo'clock at night.
No loan officer is really goingto do that, or very rarely.
I'm not going to say no,because it's probably loan
officers out there that do whatI do as well, but there's a lot

(06:07):
of them that don't.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
And where can our listeners go to learn more about
Jetmo LLC?

Speaker 3 (06:16):
