What makes Adam Moore with Mosquito Hunters of Texoma a good neighbor?

Pick the work you want first, then find the industry that fits. That’s the filter Adam Moore used to build Mosquito Hunters of Texoma into a trusted, family-run pest control company serving neighbors across the region. We talk through how a clear personal vision—being outdoors, meeting people, and staying woven into the community—led him to full-service pest control, from termite certifications to comprehensive mosquito control, and why that alignment still powers growth five years in.

Adam takes us back to the freezing early days of door hangers and yard signs, when hustle and proximity mattered more than perfect digital funnels. As the client base grew, those yard signs turned into social proof, while targeted Facebook and Google campaigns added steady demand. We dig into what actually moves the needle: simple messaging, relentless follow-through, and a service philosophy that puts training, customer satisfaction checks, and employee development ahead of short-term profit. The payoff is consistency—fewer bites, fewer callbacks, more neighbors willing to vouch for results.

You’ll also hear why Adam keeps tech in its place. When a prospect enters a zip code on mosquitohunters.com, a real local person calls back—no AI, no maze—because context and trust start on the first contact. We touch on family life, late-night nursing shifts, band and football schedules, and the many ways those community ties compound word of mouth. If you’re building a local service brand—or just want a smarter approach to mosquito control—this conversation offers practical steps you can use tomorrow: align your work with your strengths, show up where your neighbors are, and make service your strategy.

SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place
where local businesses andneighbors come together.
Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.

SPEAKER_02 (00:10):
Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast.
Are you in need of afull-service pest control
company?
Well, one may be closer than youthink.
Today I have the pleasure ofintroducing your good neighbor,
Adam Moore, with MosquitoHunters of Texoma.
Adam, how are you today?

SPEAKER_01 (00:25):
I'm doing good.
How are you?

SPEAKER_02 (00:27):
I'm also doing good.
Now we are excited to learn allabout you and your business.
Can you start off by telling ourlisteners just a little bit
about your company?

SPEAKER_01 (00:36):
Yeah, so um I own the company.
Um my wife kind of does thebooks, and uh we're a very
family-oriented company.
So I have uh my head guy, his uhoperations manager, his wife
works for us as well.
Um, we are a full-service pestcontrol company, so we do
everything from we're licensedand certified in termite control

(00:58):
all the way to taking care ofany problems in the house, in
the yard.
And of course, we're experts inmosquito control as well.

SPEAKER_02 (01:08):
Well, that is amazing.
So, Adam, why isn't your wife onhere with you today?

SPEAKER_01 (01:13):
She has a second job, so she's a nurse up at the
hospital.
So she works nights and sheworks hard, she sleeps, she
works the concession stand forthe kids uh football game to
help raise money for the band.
So she is a busy little being.

SPEAKER_02 (01:32):
Oh well, it sounds like you guys make a great team.

SPEAKER_01 (01:35):
Yes.

SPEAKER_02 (01:36):
So how did you guys get started in this business?

SPEAKER_01 (01:41):
So that's a great question.
Um, whenever I was looking atwhat kind of business I wanted
to be an entrepreneur in andwhat to start out the first
thing I did was reflect onmyself.
Um, what what do I want everyday?
What do I want to wake up toevery day?

(02:01):
What kind of a person am I?
What do I enjoy doing?
And so I just got a little listdown together on the type of
environment, atmosphere that Iwanted to work in.
You know, a good example wouldbe like, well, I don't want to
work in an office, I want tomove around outside.
I want to be outside and and uhmeet different people and and

(02:23):
integrate into the community.
And had I made that list first.
After I made that list, then Istarted looking into all the
different industries and uh thatare available to go into
business.
And with an open mind and andnot really caring about what it
landed on, I just decided I'mwhichever industry fit that the

(02:47):
best, that's what I was gonnado.
And lo and behold, to mysurprise, this is where I
landed.
So it was a it was a bigsurprise to me, but it met the
kind of person I was.
So that's kind of how I pickedout and how to why I was gonna
do pest control.

SPEAKER_02 (03:03):
Amazing.
Now you're still a businessowner today, so what kept you in
the industry?

SPEAKER_01 (03:10):
Uh grit and determination for sure.
Um, you know, visions and goals, you know, visions of sugar plums
and fairy tales, you know.
So you have to wake up with avision to continue to go.
We've been in business for fiveyears now.
Uh first five years isdefinitely the most difficult.

(03:31):
And, you know, if you don't wakeup with with vision and goal and
just a refusal to quit, thenyou'll definitely knock yourself
out pretty quick.
So that's what's kept me in it.

SPEAKER_02 (03:42):
Amazing.
Yes, we could have a very longconversation about that, but we
don't have time for that today.
So switching gears, you know, marketing is the heart of every
business.
How are you currently marketingyour business?
And who are your targetcustomers, audience, or clients?

SPEAKER_01 (04:03):
So we use um pretty much all levels of marketing.
Um, you know, at first, wheneverwe started, I was doing door
hangers by myself and thefreezing weather, and just
really doing door hangers andyard signs and and leaving the
digital marketing up to amarketing team.
And uh now things have changed.

(04:26):
Um, we still use all platforms, but we're blessed with a lot
higher customer base.
So we help you to they allow usto use their yards with you know
uh yard signs and stuff likethat, which is almost just as
good as a referral.
So um, but we pretty much doeverything.
We do door hangers, yard signs, all social media, Facebook,

(04:47):
Google, um, all across theboard.

SPEAKER_02 (04:52):
Now, have you ever thought about having your own
podcast?

SPEAKER_01 (04:57):
I have not.
No, I I'm not a big uh computerguy.
So I'm kind of uh, you know, grew up in the old uh no
internet days and and you know, you had the house phones and
that was it.
I like staying away fromcomputers and and from
technology as much as I can andintegrate myself in with

(05:22):
everything around me.
So I've never really just kindof wanted to dive into that.

SPEAKER_02 (05:28):
Okay.
Now, outside of work, what doyou and your family like to do
for fun?

SPEAKER_01 (05:34):
Well, for now, we pretty much stay busy with their
activities that they do atschool.
So um I have two teenagers, uh,one's a senior and one's a
sophomore, and one does band andone does color guard and the
other one does football.
And so we're pretty much tied upfrom Thursday to Saturday, and

(05:59):
then we try to utilize that timein between to get a little bit
of rest in.
So we're we're staying busyparents right now.

SPEAKER_02 (06:08):
So, Adam, please tell our listeners one thing
they should remember aboutmosquito hunters of Texoma.

SPEAKER_01 (06:16):
Well, I think the best thing to remember is um we
because we're a kind of afamily-oriented company, um, we
put all of our resources and allof our changes in our company uh
towards making service betterfor our customers, um, whether
it be training, whether it bemore programs to check our

(06:37):
customers whether they'resatisfied or not, or um better
our employees, which will inturn, you know, better uh the
service for our customers.
So we're one of those companiesthat take those things into mind
so that whenever we bringservice to our customers, I
mean, we're not going to beperfect, of course, but um

(06:59):
everything we do is to drivetowards our customers, and then
we let the uh the profit, we letthe money, we let all that stuff
uh work its way out on the backend just for our great service
that we try to bring toeverybody.

SPEAKER_02 (07:12):
Well, as I always say, it's about progression, not
perfection.

SPEAKER_01 (07:16):
That's right.

SPEAKER_02 (07:17):
So, Adam, what our listeners really want to know
today is where can they go tolearn more about mosquito
hunters of Texoma?

SPEAKER_01 (07:25):

phone number, or you can just goto mosquitohunters.com and enter
your zip code, request a quo, enter the zip code, and somebody

(07:46):
