SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
This is the Good
Neighbor Podcast, the place
where local businesses andneighbors come together.
Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.
SPEAKER_01 (00:10):
Welcome to the Good
Neighbor Podcast.
Are you in need a cognitivebehavioral therapist?
Well, one may be closer than youthink.
Today, I have the pleasure ofintroducing your good neighbor,
Michelle Palacios with LifeRevised Therapy.
Michelle, how are you today?
SPEAKER_02 (00:27):
I'm great.
How are you?
SPEAKER_01 (00:30):
Great.
Well, so excited to have you ontoday.
Now we are excited to learn allabout you and your business.
Can you start off by telling ourlisteners just a little bit
about your company?
SPEAKER_02 (00:42):
Sure.
I'm Michelle.
I'm a licensed therapist andfounder of Life Revised Therapy
and Online Therapy Practice inTexas.
And I help people who on theoutside look like they have it
all together, the strong onesthat everybody really feels they
can count on.
But on the inside, they feeloverwhelmed, hard on themselves,
and they struggle in theirrelationships.
(01:03):
So I help them to relax theirmind, reclaim their confidence,
renew their relationships.
And I do that through providingevidence-based therapy for
anxiety, stress, trauma,relationship issues.
And I do all of it virtually.
So I help clients get supportfrom the comfort of their homes
or in their office, anywhere inTexas.
SPEAKER_01 (01:22):
Now, Michelle, we
before we get deeper into your
story, um, where does your heartfrom helping these clients
really come from for you?
SPEAKER_02 (01:32):
Well, it's
interesting.
I have wanted to do this since Iwas a child.
I read a lot of books likeChicken Soup for the Soul, and I
had just had this calling to beable to help others, knowing
that others might be silentlystruggling and that I could
actually make a difference.
And then in middle school, I hada really great school counselor
who I watched have kids comeinto her into her office crying
(01:57):
and upset, and they would leaverelieved and happy.
And I just thought that wasreally cool.
She touched so many lives.
So she was really myinspiration.
And then as I've gone throughthis journey more and more, I
really understand even deeper, you know, how much people are
struggling and um especially thestrong ones that are quiet and
don't often ask for help thatthey also need.
SPEAKER_01 (02:18):
Wow.
Well, that is a beautiful thingthat you are doing.
Now, how did you originally getinto this industry?
SPEAKER_02 (02:28):
So I started this um
industry of therapy.
Like I said, I've wanted to doit for a long time.
So I've done everything fromdoing research in university to
working in the school systems.
I've worked as a special edteacher, school counselor.
Um, and all those things kind ofled me here to private practice
(02:48):
where I feel like I have theability to make the biggest
impact in people's lives.
SPEAKER_01 (02:53):
Now that you're
making that impact on the
day-to-day, what is the mostcommon myth or misconception you
come across?
SPEAKER_02 (03:02):
I think that the
biggest myth about therapy is
that people feel like they haveto be in crisis or that they are
broken if they come to therapy.
But the reality is it's foranybody who wants more peace,
confidence, clarity.
Many of my clients look reallygood on paper.
They have careers, families, alot of success, but on the
(03:23):
inside is where they're reallystruggling.
They struggle with anxiety, notfeeling good enough, their
relationships are in turmoil.
So therapy helps them tounderstand what's driving those
feelings and helps give thempractical tools to make real
actual change.
SPEAKER_01 (03:37):
And what is the
first step that they should take
going into that journey ofself-discovery and improving
their relationships and theirlife overall look like?
SPEAKER_02 (03:48):
I think it starts
with finding the right therapist
in general.
Everybody's different, everytherapist is different.
And so having a freeconsultation call is something
that I offer.
A lot of other therapists offerthat too.
And getting on a call with atherapist, talking about what
your goals are and making surethey're in alignment with your
personality, what you want toachieve through therapy, things
(04:08):
like that.
SPEAKER_01 (04:10):
So, Michelle, let's
go ahead and switch gears for a
second.
We know marketing is the heartof every business.
Who are your target clients?
And in terms of marketing, howdo you attract them?
SPEAKER_02 (04:23):
So my clients are
really the leaders, the strong
ones, the ones people count on,the ones who probably have the
hardest time asking for helpbecause they're usually the ones
who are helping everybody elseand they forget about themselves
and put them on the back burner.
Um, and the way that I reachthem honestly is mostly by word
of mouth.
So most of my clients come to mebecause they have other friends
(04:43):
or relatives, colleagues thatthey see struggling in the same
way.
SPEAKER_01 (04:48):
Michelle, you said
the leaders and the strong ones
care to elaborate.
SPEAKER_02 (04:53):
It's more of a
personality type, right?
These are the people who arehyper-independent, who really
don't feel like they need to askfor help.
SPEAKER_01 (05:00):
They've Okay, so
more of that alpha personality
type.
SPEAKER_02 (05:03):
Yeah, probably I
would say more of type A type
people, perfectionistic, highachievers.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (05:11):
Completely
relatable.
Now, have you ever thought aboutdoing your own podcast?
SPEAKER_02 (05:18):
I have, yeah.
I do.
I think that would be a reallyfun thing to do.
Um, and I hope to do it sometimein the future.
SPEAKER_01 (05:26):
And outside of work,
when you're not helping these
individuals, what do you like todo for fun with your family?
SPEAKER_02 (05:35):
Well, I love to
garden.
So that's kind of my mindfulnesspractice in itself.
So spending time with my family, gardening, things like that,
exploring the DFW area, doingfun little adventures.
That's what I like to do.
SPEAKER_01 (05:49):
Amazing.
Now, Michelle, please tell ourlisteners one thing they should
remember about life-revisedtherapy.
SPEAKER_02 (05:58):
I think you should
remember that it's okay to ask
for help and that even thestrong ones need it, and that
taking care of yourself helpsyou to take care of others.
It helps you to show up as yourbest self and every aspect of
your life.
And you don't need to be incrisis or you don't need to be
broken.
You don't need to have adiagnosis to want to improve
yourself and to do better andhave more ease in your life.
SPEAKER_01 (06:20):
Amen to that.
Now, Michelle, what is one thingthat makes life-revised therapy
stand out from every othertherapy clinic?
SPEAKER_02 (06:30):
That's a great
question.
I would say for me, it's that Ihave a more direct approach.
So when someone comes to therapywith me, this isn't a time where
they're just going to sit andtalk about whatever they want,
whenever they want.
I have a much more structuredapproach.
You do have a chance, of course,to talk, and I'm a really good
listener.
And I do think people feel seen, heard, and understood.
(06:51):
But my clients, I find wantdirection.
Like I said, I work with type Aclients.
And as a type A person myself, Ilike to have structure, have a
plan, and I want to know that mytherapy is working.
So I implement a lot ofdifferent tools to make sure
that we're making progresstowards the goals that you
decide on along the way as well.
SPEAKER_01 (07:10):
Amazing, amazing.
So, Michelle, what our listenersreally want to know today is
where can they go to learn moreabout life revised therapy?
SPEAKER_02 (07:18):

my website at life revised
therapy.com.
