Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place
where local businesses andneighbors come together.
Here's your host, Benjamin John.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Welcome back to the Good Neighbor Podcast once again
.
Hey, are you in search of ageneral contractor who
specializes in shellconstruction, someone who's
reliable and ethical?
Well, there might be someonevery close, closer than you
think, and I'm going tointroduce him.
I got the pleasure of spendingsome time with Luis Rumartini
with Venice Commercial Services.

(00:32):
Luis, how you doing.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
I'm doing great, how you doing, ben.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Yeah, I'm doing fantastic, as always or most
days, I should say.
So I'm excited for you to kindof share a little bit more about
your company to the localcommunity here.
So let's just start off withthat question and get right into
it.
Can you tell us a little bitabout the company?

Speaker 3 (00:52):
of course, and hey, let me thank you, uh for having
me here, thank you for the space, thank you for the time, so
always a pleasure, uh, to sharesome time with you.
All right, so, yeah, basically,uh, my name again is luis
remartini.
With venice commercial services, we are general contractors,
family-owned local company ofporsche and lucy.
We have been in business since2015, so basically we are

(01:15):
reaching the 10 years uh goalthis year.
So we are proud of, you know, have been for this long just
helping our community to keepgrowing.
So we do specialize on shellconstruction, which is basically
concrete walls and roof, soanything on flat work pavers,
driveways, patios, slabs, foundations, concrete blocks and

(01:38):
roofing of any type shingles, tiles, metal or flat roof as
well very nice.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Well, yeah, you kind of cover a wide range of
construction applications whichI I can appreciate, coming from
the construction industry myself, and I think we've talked about
that before.
So really cool to hear thatyou're hitting the 10-year mark.
Congratulations on that thankyou why don't you take us back?
How'd you get into thisbusiness?

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Well, I started working on construction with my
father-in-law, actually back onmy original country.
I'm from Venezuela, but I havebeen here, for you know, about
those 10 years already and it isfunny because I actually have a
degree in marketing.
So you know, I learned a lotabout business and how to sell
stuff like that.
But you know, when I came tothe US, I retake that path of

(02:33):
the construction and one thingone thing take to the other.
You know the opportunity startsshowing up always that you're
willing to step up, show up, dothe work.
So I started learning aboutlicense and all the rules and
you know the way everythingneeds to be done.
And, hey, I'm proud to say thatwe have been building a nice
community.

(02:53):
You know loyal customers and, yeah, again, just I love the
construction.
You know it is beautiful to seesomething coming out of nowhere
, and what I mean?
Because we do a lot of likedriveways, reduce, or you know
remodellation and stuff likethat.
But when you're buildingsomething from zero, it is

(03:14):
beautiful.
You know, when you see an emptylot and a few months later you
see a whole new residence whichis going to impact a family life
, that's what fills my heart.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yeah, me sure that we have that in common because, uh
, you know, sometimes it can betough.
It's a good challenge goingthrough it sometimes, especially
, especially physically andmentally, but when you step back
and look at that project thatyou put so much time and effort
into it's really rewarding foreverybody, right?

Speaker 3 (03:40):
it is, it is all right.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Uh, why don't you tell me a myth or a
misconception that is common inthe industry?

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Definitely.
So you know, a question that weget every day about concrete is
about cracks, just to give youan example, right.
So people always ask wheneverwe're doing a patio, a slab,
whatever it is flat concrete, people will always ask about the
cracks.
Right, and they will say like, well, yeah, I have this other
guy.
They told me that this willnever crack.

(04:08):
And I like to bestraightforward with my
customers, you know, and I saidlisten, there's three things for
sure about concrete it's goingto get hard, nobody's going to
steal it and it's going to getcracked, all right.
So you know, concrete cracksjust by composition.
That's something that we don'tlike to hear, but it is what it
is Right.

(04:29):
So I always explain to peoplemost likely it's not going to
happen.
We're going to do what we haveto do, like the right thickness,
you know, control joints at theright location and at the right
distance.
So we're going to do everythingwe can to help with that.
But we can't guarantee thatconcrete won't crack just
because, again, it just happenedby composition.
The very next day you couldhave a crack Very low portion of

(04:55):
the works that we do.
These tend to happen, but again, it's always a possibility.
So you know, if I lose abusiness for being honest, just
be it.
But I don't want to say yeah, that's never going to happen and
then being in a situation whereit happens.
So that's a big myth about theconcrete, because people think
that there's ways to avoid that100 percent and realistically

(05:15):
there's not a way to promisethat won't happen.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Very nice.
I like to hear that you'reethical and you treat people
with transparency and you'rejust upfront about that, of
course.
Very, very good to hear that.
So who are your targetcustomers and how do you attract
them?
So who are your targetcustomers and how do you attract
them?

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yes, sir.
So any business or propertyowner who is looking to repair,
renovate, add or just improvetheir properties with the use of
concrete pavers, houseadditions, roof extensions at an
affordable price, at aneffective timing and turnaround.

(05:55):
You know that's located on theTreasure Coast and the Palm
Beaches.
That's basically our marketcustomers.
You know anybody who's lookingto improve the property with any
concrete or pavers work.
We do a lot of Googleadvertisement.
We are on Facebook, we are onInstagram, so, but Google, I
think that's where we get themost of our customers.

(06:16):
We have 175 five stars reviewon Google and you know all of
this is a hundred percent realand organic reviews and pictures
.
Our Google profile, venicecommercial services.
People love that.
You know, and and and you know, when people read the reviews
and then they get to know us,they realize everything is real.

(06:37):
So you know we are proud ofproviding a great service.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Very good, yeah, I love, I like that you're getting
a lot of positive feedback fromthe community and I just see
massive growth for you, man.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Yes, I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
So so, outside of work, what do you do for fun?

Speaker 3 (06:54):
You know, just spending time with family,
mostly, like you know, spendingtime with my wife, my daughter,
going out to a park, going outfor dinner.
We love to spend time in frontof the water grilling with the
family, my parents, my sisters, but you know how it is.
It's a lot of work and thenfamily time, that's it.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
All right, that's important.
It's important, I would say.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
That's all.
That's all Family.
Yeah, that's what matters.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
All right, I'm going to switch gears on here a little
bit, and so I want to ask youis there a life struggle or a
life challenge that you've wentthrough that has made you?

Speaker 3 (07:34):
stronger.
Remember is basically the paththat I have walked basically
since I got to the US 10 yearsago, you know.
So when you get here as animmigrant, you got to do
whatever it takes to buildsomething right, to go up and to

(08:02):
be able to be someone andsomebody.
So, you know, as soon as I gothere, I was having two jobs, you
know.
I was working on the morning, working on the afternoon,
working at night, I was doingany kind of my thing.
I was working on schools, doing, you know, the restaurants,
doing the garbage, doing thevacuuming stuff like that Right,
a lot of cleaning.
So I had to do a lot of stuffthat, honestly, I didn't do at

(08:25):
my childhood, you know, I didn'tgrow being used to these kind
of activities.
So whenever I came here and Iwas, you know, facing that
situation, it was hard but itgave me a lot of.
It, made me humble, it made me,it gave me a lot of empathy
with people, you know, justbeing on anybody's shoes, and it

(08:48):
really helped me to appreciatethe good things in life and just
realize that, no matter what wedo, no matter where we are,
everybody has a history.
You know, everybody has afamily, everybody loves somebody
.
Everybody has kids, parents,you know.
So we, as people we are, allvalue the same.
Nobody's more than anybody else.

(09:10):
All right, we may be performingdifferent stuff in our life,
different papers in this game, but everybody's worth the same
as a person.
So that was a good lesson fromthe whole path that I have been
walking.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Very nice.
Well, thanks for sharing thatpowerful.
It's a powerful story in itself.
Yes, sir, All right, luis, tellour listeners one thing they
should remember about VeniceCommercial Services.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
I mean again just the impact that we have on people's
life, and this is somethingthat I love to communicate to
our team, because, you know, alot of people may think of a
construction company just like, yeah, you do concrete, you do
pavers one day here, one day onthe other place, and that's it.
But it goes beyond that, youknow, because every single job

(09:58):
that we're doing, no matter howbig or small it is, we are
impacting people's life.
Like you know, just forinstance, let's say, we're doing
the driveway at your house, youwon't forget us, you won't
forget these people that can'trepower all of that concrete.
You know the love, the joking, the fighting, sometimes the

(10:19):
arguments.
You know.
So, realistically, we mayforget some people because we
are doing 150 plus works a year, because we are doing 150 plus
works a year, but that peoplewon't forget us.
You know.
So this is something that I liketo put on my guys' mind that we
are impacting people's life.
So let's do what we have to doand let's don't settle for less

(10:40):
than you know, as close as wecan get to perfection, right.
So let's really make a positiveimpact on people's life by
adding more space on thedriveway for the whole family by
building a new pergola space sothey could celebrate their
kids' birthdays, grilling withthe family, thanksgiving, you
know, christmas, et cetera.

(11:01):
So that's what I love aboutthis, about, you know, improving
people's life.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Very nice.
I always said that the bestcompanies are the ones who focus
on creating a great experiencefor their customers, and it
sounds like you do that, so I'mreally happy to hear that.
Definitely All right.
