This is the Good
Neighbor Podcast, the place
where local businesses andneighbors come together.
Here's your host, Lisa Swiftney.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Hi everyone, and
welcome to episode number 122 of
the Good Neighbor Podcast.
I'm so excited to have my goodfriend, christy Zambas, with me
today, and we're going to talkabout something very near and
dear to her heart that's comingup soon, so it's an event that
you're doing.
So, christy, tell us a littlebit about your event.
(00:34):
What's the name of it and whyare you doing it?
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Yeah, thank you, I'm
super excited.
So it is called Fight or NightIgnite your Passion Within.
It is an event that is gearedtowards high school girls and
older and the women that inspirethem.
So it could be mom, sister, grandma, aunt, cousin, best
friend or just simply a mentorthat's in their life that really
inspires and empowers them.
(00:59):
I'm super excited it is gearedto.
There's kind of a whole bunch ofdifferent things that we're
trying to incorporate into it.
So one we have team speakersthat are going to be talking
about adversities they face intheir lives and how they've
overcome it.
We have women that are going tobe speaking about sisterhood
and friendship and body imageand self image and mindset and
(01:23):
just all the different things toreally bridge that gap and how
to support women starting at ayounger age.
So we really want to hone intothat.
And then we're going to havemother and daughter duos that
are going to be talking abouttheir relationship, how they
bridge the gap to really createan open line of communication
and build a strong foundation intheir relationship.
(01:44):
And we are going to havevendors on staff that will be or
on site that will be talking orsharing their products and
services.
But then we also have businesswomen that are going to be
talking about their businesseshow they got into it what they,
what the day-to-day looks like, how you can get into it as a
young teen, what the options andopportunities are, as well as
(02:09):
what different things, all theway from multi-level marketing
up to CEO, doctor level statusfor individuals that will have
there.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Oh, that's amazing.
So what's the passion behind it?
Why did you decide to put thistogether?
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Yeah, so great story
and great question.
So it actually was inspiredfrom my daughter.
I do a lot of events that helpto empower women and I sit in
and a lot of these events and alot of the common thing that we
hear in these events is I wish Iwould have had something like
this when I was younger.
I wish I would have known I gotinto the corporate world and
(02:46):
decided to go entrepreneurial Ihave a hard time with that word,
but go into the entrepreneurialworld and they start one way
and they end up in a completelydifferent field or line of work
or passion.
And I came home after one ofthe events.
I was talking to my husband andmy daughter about one of the
(03:07):
exercises that we did and it wasso incredibly powerful Not
going to share it on herebecause we're actually going to
do it at the event.
It was incredibly powerful andmy daughter said she would love
to get up and tell her story ona stage one day.
She's had a lot of medicalissues from the day she was born
(03:28):
and her story is very inspiringand empowering.
From freshman year to junioryear she's missed over 300 days
of school from her medicalcondition.
She's really had a lot ofdifferent things with
friendships and being able to goout and do things like a normal
teenage girl.
She's just been hindered in somany different areas.
(03:49):
So I thought it was a great ideato get her on stage.
But also, in my mind, how doyou get a 16-year-old she's now
17, on stage in front of40-year-old women to tell a
story and inspire them, right, mama brain went into like full
and like how do I make thishappen for her?
So I decided to create thisevent to really bring her in
(04:12):
front of peers her age and allowthem to tell their story, and
or her to tell them her storyand just kind of how she's
overcome it.
And now we are at threeincredible young girls that have
amazing stories that I'm superexcited for them to be able to
share.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
That is awesome.
That's going to be an amazingevent.
So what are you looking forright now to help with the event
?
Do you still have vendoropportunities?
Are you still looking forsponsors?
Yes, yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
So we always have
vendor and sponsor opportunities
, so we are looking for if thereis anyone that wants to get in
front of these girls.
We do have a pretty incrediblelineup of women that are coming
to share their business and whatthey do.
We have boutiques I do the hairschool coming.
We have military.
We've got entrepreneurialentrepreneurs from every
(05:10):
multiple different kind ofindustry.
So we're looking for women thatreally want to share their
business.
I've got someone that's an hvacbusiness owner.
She's a female.
It's amazing to see somebody ina trade that's there.
So there are so many cool womenthat are going to be on sites.
We're always looking for morewomen that want to share their
businesses, what they do, howthey got into it, what the
(05:31):
opportunities are.
We're looking for vendorsalways as well, so anyone that
wants to come and share theirproducts.
But our biggest thing right nowis sales.
We are looking for the girlsand their moms or women in their
lives that we can get.
Get to come to this event.
It is an allday event.
We are going to have acontinental breakfast and a taco
bar lunch and we will have that.
(05:55):
So it's nine to five and we'rejust looking to fill the seats
now and get the girls in thereand give them the opportunity to
be able to talk to someincredible women and listen to
some incredible women.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Amazing.
So how do they get tickets toattend your event so?
Speaker 3 (06:11):
there is an
Eventbrite link and because I
decided why not do all of thethings all at one time?
I'm going on vacation next week, so we created a code.
It's enjoy vacation and it willgive $15 off for a ticket.
So there is an event right linkthat they can go to to get the
(06:34):
tickets and if you use enjoyvacation, you'll get $15 off
while we are on vacation.
Oh how fun.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
We will share that
link, um, at the bottom of the
podcast so everyone can click onthat link to purchase a ticket.
So we know how, how to gettickets If they want to be a
vendor or sponsor the event.
How do we get in front ofbusiness owners?
What do they need to do?
Speaker 3 (06:57):
So the business
owners just need to actually
reach out to me directly and Ican get them set up with
everything.
So if they reach out to me, wecan get the contact information
for that as well.
Cell phone is always available.
I'll give it right now ifanybody wants to write it down.
But you can put it in there too.
But cell phone is 586-747-8190.
(07:18):
It is attached to my hip.
It's always in front of me.
It's literally going off as yousit here and speak.
So anyone is available to callat any time.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Okay, perfect.
Well, chrissy, thank you fortaking some time out of your
busy day before your vacation sothat we can do this podcast and
get this out in the hands ofwomen, business owners and
teenagers.
To come to the event Reallyquick too.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
I just want to share.
It is October 20th.
From nine to five.
It is a Sunday.
We did this intentionallybecause we do know there are a
lot of girls that are veryactive, involved in sports and
dance and all the differentthings.
So Sunday seems to be the bestday and it is at the Vintage
House in Fraser.
So just so everybody knows that, the date and location, and
(08:10):
it's from nine to five.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Great Vintage House
is a great place as well, so
thank you so much for being aguest today.
