Speaker 1 (00:00):

businesses and neighbors cometogether.
Here's your host, Lisa Swiftney.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Hi everyone and welcome to episode 130 of the
Good Neighbor Podcast.
Today I have with us LaurenRichson, and she is with Made
for More Mindset and WritingCoaching.
That's a long word.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Good morning Lauren.
How are you today?
Good morning Lisa.
I am doing well.
I'm doing so good.
Thank you so much for thisopportunity.
I'm so excited to be here.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Great, we're excited to learn more about what you do.
So, with that being said said, why don't we start off by
telling us what is your business?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
yes, I am the founder ceo, I guess, of made for more
mindset and writing growthcoaching.
So I know those are like twodifferent ends of the spectrum
there of coaching.
But it literally has been sucha dream and it has been
fulfilling my passion andpurpose since I officially

(01:10):
launched my coaching business inMay I'm sorry, april of 2024.
And, yeah, I, I focus withmindset growth, with women and
mothers especially, and helpingthem break free of the limiting
beliefs that once has held themback and by helping up-level

(01:31):
their mindset with differenttools and techniques of growing
the mindset to discover whattheir true divine purpose is for
their life.
This came to be when, about ayear and a half after I was a
client of life coaching, that Iwanted to give back to women,

(01:52):
just like I received for mycoach and as a mother as well,
and how my life completelychanged in just six months of
working with my coach,one-on-one, and I knew that
there's other women, andespecially mothers, who needed
that as well.
So that is where the mindsetgrowth you know comes in, and I

(02:15):
and I named myself a mindsetgrowth coach because, yes, we're
dealing in life with my clients, but the mindset is like a
whole other realm.
You have to have the patternthoughts to get you to the next
step or place personal life ifyou own a business, you know in

(02:38):
marriage, in, you know as beinga mom, like all these different
areas, and to have a, you know, more of a growth mindset than a
fixed mindset.
It is a game changer.
I also, within my mindsetgrowth program, I focus on

(02:59):
self-love.
So that's another part of mycoaching program, that with
mindset and focusing self-lovefor yourself as a woman.
My clientele is definitely, youknow, women and mothers and it's
just.
It's been amazing the time thatI've already launched my

(03:19):
business working with twoone-on-one clients currently
working with clients.
It's been great.
And then writing the writinggrowth aspect of my coaching
program is I went through, Iactually I'm still my writing
coach and which you know, her, olivia Parks May and you know I

(03:41):
want to give that same you knowgrowth back and helping women
fulfill their dream of writingtheir first children's book.
And I'm proud to say that I'vehad three amazing former clients
who have gone live onself-publishing their children's
books and their books arethriving and these women had

(04:06):
held on to these stories foryears and they had done nothing
with them.
They had not, you know, theyjust sat on their computer or
sat in a fold if theyhandwritten.
You know things like that, andI'm just so proud of each and
every one of them for makingthat first step, investing in
their dream and you know.
And now they haveself-published children's books.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
That is amazing, so tell our listeners about our
journey.
What motivated you to getstarted in this business?

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Yeah, so definitely my own personal journey
motivated me to become a coach.
It wasn't until August of 23,summer of 2023, where I was in
conversation with my formercoach, who's now one of my
business partners with our womenempowerment group, weriseco,

(04:57):
and I was like I think I want tobecome a coach for women and,
just you know, help them breakfree of what stopped them
becoming their best version ofthem.
And she's like I think youwould be amazing coach, and so I
sat on.
You know that dream from Augustuntil December of 23,.

(05:17):
You know fears, doubts, all thethings that you feel right as
something new.
And then I just got gritty.
I go, I'm literally wearing ashirt that says grit on it,
cause I'm a huge lion and thatwas an incredible game last
night.
Oh my God.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Oh, yes, it was.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Oh my gosh.
And so I got gritty and I gotbold and I was just like you
know what I'm doing this and Ifollow God in what he put in my
heart.
I'm very faith-based and I justkept listening and I just went
for it and I had an opportunitythat came organically with my

(05:55):
first former mindset growthcoaching client and we worked
together for six months aftershe she entrusted in me as her
mindset coach, and where shestarted and where she ended was
a complete transformation.
And it's just, it's wild, and Ijust think like what, if I

(06:16):
never would have believed inmyself, this one woman would
have been still stuck in a placethat I felt two and a half
years ago, where I felt verylost, I felt in the wilderness,
I felt very trapped in a boxthat I didn't think I could get
out from, and so I wanted tostop that feeling for women and

(06:41):
mothers especially, which shewas a mother, my current client
is a mother and so I just wantedthat to be that, those fears,
those doubts, those limitingbeliefs to be broken free.
And then, as far as writingcoaching, I knew that amazing
feeling when I that dream cametrue and I saw my book was
self-published and live onAmazon, kdp, and I was like this

(07:05):
is real and what a surrealfeeling.
And now I've had three clientswith those same feelings and
they're going to schools, they're going to libraries,
their books are going towardscharity and foundations and, you
know, raising money, and I'mjust like, oh my gosh, how
amazing.
So I just I'm very, I feel veryblessed.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
How amazing.
So I just I'm very, I feel veryblessed.
That is amazing, Can?

Speaker 3 (07:38):
you tell our audience about any myths or
misconceptions you hear about inyour industry?
Yes, so some and I've had thisactually question asked me.
You know, they say what is thedifference between a coach
life's coach, mindset, coach, writing, whatever it might be
and like a therapist?
As far as mindset, okay, we'll,we'll stick in that little area
and I will be totally justhonest.

(08:01):
I I was working with atherapist the same time that I
was working with my life coachand I got through a lot of
things.
I started with my therapist in2019, right after I had my
second son, and there was just alittle bit of you know.
You know, with having him andpost-traumatic.

(08:23):
I mean, it was just a littlebit there but I needed something
and so I had my therapist.
She got me through a lot.
But then the difference I feel, especially with my own personal
journey because I was a clientof coaching as well it's a
relatable, more like someone who, like, had all the things that

(08:45):
I went through happen with themand they overcame them.
And I mean I worked with mycoach on a one-on-one basis
every day.
We talked I mean I didn't eventalk to like some of my best
friends I grew up with, sinceyou know, all of encouragement,
all those things.

(09:12):
It was different.
And even with my former clientand current client of Mindset
they also have been withtherapists and they say there is
a difference with therapists.
And they say there is adifference.
There's like the relation backand forth, the connection the

(09:38):
community of you and I, and thatneutral ground.
And there is a neutral groundbetween a therapist, you know,
and the client patient, moreconnection with my coach and how
my clients feel towards me, andso it's a different type of
investment in yourself.
But I will be another point ofhonesty here.

(10:04):
I moved myself more goingthrough life coaching than I did
having my therapist.
And that's just my personaljourney.
As far as, like you know, people compare or question
everyone's different Everyone'sjourney, everyone's story is
different.
But for my personal story thatis where I literally jumped to a

(10:31):
happier place for myself.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
That is very interesting.
So people do ask that what'sthe difference between a
therapist and a coach?
So thank you for clarifyingthat.
Yeah, so when you're notworking on your business, what
do you like to do for fun?

Speaker 3 (10:49):
So I definitely love just spending time with my boys,
my husband, the four of us as afamily.
We love to travel as a familyand then me and my husband going
on trips, you know ourselves,or with friends, things like
that.
I'm a huge sports girl.
My husband got blessed there.
I'm a sports wife, and you knowI'm a huge sports girl.
My husband got blessed there.
I'm a sports wife and you knowI'm a huge Tigers fan, a huge

(11:12):
Lions fan, and you know you cancatch me pacing the floors,
going crazy at the games, like Imean, that's me.
I love playing sports too.
I love to write.
I'm obviously a self-publishedchildren's book author myself,
and you know, just having fungetting together with friends,

(11:34):
going out for a nice date night, even family date nights, yeah.
Having some alone time for methat's always great too.
Yeah, I just and I love tolaugh, my favorite thing and my
husband always like jokes withme, but I mean I like to just
sit on the couch when I get achance.
I need to start doing a littlebit more of that to myself.

(11:56):
I've been doing that for me,but my favorite show is watching
friends and I just like to justwatch that.
I don't know how many timesI've watched an episode, but
that is my jam, just to like sitand take that in.
Even my boys know, like, mommy, that's your favorite show, and
they're eight and five, so theyknow.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
That is great.
That is great.
Yes.
Can you describe one hardshipor life challenge that you rose
above and can now say because ofthat challenge that you're
better for it and are stronger?

Speaker 3 (12:36):
There's well, there could be a few there.
Lisa, you know, one of the whenI've been asked this question
before and one of the thingsthat always pops in my head that
and I know how I'm stronger nowis I lost my mom when I was 19
to breast cancer and you know, Iwas a sophomore in college and

(13:00):
I could have taken a muchdifferent road and I didn't.
I decided to, you know, I mean,it was very, it was very hard.
My mom passed away one yearexactly from my high school
graduation date and, you know,in May of, you know, 19 years,
and I'm like, oh, my like, wheredid 19 years go?

(13:23):
Right?
And so years go right, and so,but I believe that I became a
stronger person and a woman anda mother, now being knowing what
she had gone through and whereI am now and at my age and

(13:46):
taking care of myself andhealthy and trying to be as
healthy as I can be, but movingmy body and doing everything I
can, and also theself-confidence, my self-worth.
My mom, you know, wanted tobecome a children's book author
herself and she never did.

(14:09):
And so me, I guess, creatingthat dream for myself too and
then fulfilling it and doing itin her honor.
My book launch for my firstbook was last December 9th,
which is which would have hadwhich was her heavenly birthday
my mom and she, you know it.

(14:35):
Just it made me a strongerperson Having that loss at such
a younger age.
And, you know, finishing college, getting my degree, you know,
teaching for five years I taughtkindergarten for five years in
the classroom, prior to havingkids and just all the things,
all the dreams that I am doing, and I know she's just so proud I

(15:05):
am doing, and I know she's justso proud, and so I just became
stronger, knowing that I want tobe here and doing all the
things that I can for my boysthat she didn't get a chance to
do, and so that has been one ofmy hardest life hardships.
And then the other, you know,is what I kind of mentioned
before, like getting through my,you know, surrendering to God

(15:28):
in summer of 2022 andquestioning my worth and
literally getting on my kneesand saying, god, what am I made
for?
What is my purpose?
Because I was having one thingthat I thought was going to be
my whole like life career, and Iwasn't.
It wasn't it.
There was more to be done andthat's how everything just got

(15:51):
started.
And from one yes of becoming thecommunity leader for moms and
business of Northern Macomb andOakland area, it's been two
years of so many otheropportunities that have brought
my way.
That is how I met my life coach, stacey Crown.
That is how I met our friend, cindy Spahr, who asked me to

(16:11):
become a keynote speaker for oneof her women's events, after
meeting me for two hours for acoffee.
And then from that event I metOlivia, who became my writing
coach that I spoke at and fromyou know, from there to there to
there, I mean I've met so manyamazing women and how their
business have flourished becauseI said yes to be a community

(16:34):
role leader for a moms andbusiness networking group.
And I can just look back and ifI know in my heart and my soul
that if I never would have saidyes to that opportunity, I don't
think I would be where I amtoday because of all the people
that I've met along the way.

(16:54):
And so just breaking free of myown doubts and fears and my own
limiting beliefs is how and whyI'm here today and what I'm
doing.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
That is an amazing journey that you have, that is,
and a lot of people that havehelped you along the way.
So, yes, that is always.
It's always good to have thosepeople to help make you stronger
and to help you push to yourgoals.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
Absolutely so.
What is one thing that you wishour listeners knew about your
business?

Speaker 3 (17:46):
that trusting in what you're feeling is.
Usually there's a reason.
If there is something thatyou're feeling that there's more
.
Because there is.
And I offer one-on-one coachingfor both mindset and writing.
And my mindset coaching is, youknow, based upon you and I, the

(18:10):
client, discovering what isyour true divine purpose.
What is the one thing, or maybea couple of few things, that is
going to bring you that joy andhappiness and creating that
best life that you want to live?
If we are miserable, and whatis happening, that's not a way

(18:32):
to live, and I say we have one,you know, time around this
earthly side of heaven, and whatdo you want to do with that?
What do you want that to be?
And so I just love working onthat.
I work within four, eight and12 week goals, and what does

(18:52):
that look like?
Wouldn't it be cool if I didthis?
And there's so many differentstrategies the self-love journey
, my clients who haveexperienced the self-love
journey.
It is an awakening for themthat they are focusing on
themselves and then their nextother things their marriage,

(19:17):
their partnership and then theirkids.
And I just say to my clientsyou have to be number one.
It's not, especially as mothers, it is not a selfish phrase or
a thought.
We have to be number one oreveryone else is going to falter
.
And so I really work with myclients just on that, that

(19:42):
one-on-one basis again, thatconnection to have that I am
opening.
I'm working on something thatfor 2025, in the future, that
might be some group coaching aswell, and I'm just super excited
on that.
It's kind of like in thebackground, but I'm definitely

(20:02):
throwing it out there becauseGod has put it upon my heart to
share that.
And you know, I love theone-on-one and I continue to do
one-on-one, but I'm likethinking, if there's more women
that I can help at the same time, how amazing is that too?

(20:24):
And so in mindset there and thenwriting coaching, I mean I've
had clients who had stories andthen clients who are future, for
a client coming up in February, starting from scratch, and so
at all levels, whether you haveyou don't know where to start to

(20:45):
.
I have a story, but I needsomeone to help guide me through
the editing, the proofing, theflow of content, the
self-publishing.
How do I get my ISBNs?
How do I find an illustrator?
And we do all of that togetherwith my one-on-one coaching

(21:05):
services.
So I'm very unique as far as acoach because I have mindset
growth and then I'm a writinggrowth, help with
self-publishing, you know, withauthors.
So it's exciting and I've alsobeen, I've opened my toolbox to

(21:27):
women who are interested to, youknow, write a personal
development or, you know, memoirbook that's not a children's
book and just having thataccountability, someone to help
them, you know, guide themthrough the flow of text and
editing and grammar andproofreading, and you know how
to, you know, do thatself-publishing as well.

(21:49):
And so one of my majors incollege was language arts, with
my elementary ed background, myelementary ed background.
So I'm very confident in likethat level of just helping
someone edit, proof,self-publish and just make those

(22:10):
dreams come true.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
So our listeners are now intrigued.
They want to learn more.
So how do they contact you andsign up for your services?
