Embracing UDL in Higher Education
Hosted by Dr. Lisa Wisniewski, our inaugural episode includes a robust discussion of how the UDL principles and guidelines are implemented in undergraduate and graduate courses at Goodwin University. Dr. John Kania shares his UDL story on the many ways he applies the UDL framework in his English and ESL courses to minimize learning barriers and minimize environmental barriers that have stymied students’ progress in the past.
Dr. Rob LeGary provides an overview of how the M.Ed. program is grounded in UDL course design and teaching practices. He highlights how the M.Ed. program models UDL principles where graduate students can experience the benefits of UDL while learning how to integrate UDL strategies into their own K-12 classrooms.
Throughout the episode, specific examples of the UDL curricular applications and student experiences at Goodwin are detailed. Overall, the episode serves as a call to action for other educators to engage deeply into the UDL framework and share their success stories.
