Gotta talk fast, gotta talk fast.
Gotta talk faster, faster, faster.
Gotta talk fast. Welcome to an oral review of
Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog.
Boy. This is this is a bright screen.
Let me, let me put on some sunglasses.
Go to hell. So I can, so I can see.

(00:22):
Let me let me let me start over now that I've got my knuckles
esque shades on. Honestly, if you.
Get the right angle, I could read it off the the monitor for
you. Welcome to an Aura review of
Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog, letting you know that
we know that yes, crime does happen.
No, not every criminal is a popper from the French

(00:44):
Revolution that's nobly stealingbread loaves for their family.
We get there. We get there are people who do
terrible things. If someone pulls a weapon and
demands my wallet, I'm not goingto try to appeal to their class
consciousness and provide a lecture on the value of urban
density. I'm going to give them my
wallet. What we care about is what

(01:04):
drives people to do crime and doing everything we can to
prevent it. Education, workers rights over
policing of specific neighborhoods, public transit,
money in politics, healthcare reform, irresponsible
journalism. All of it is connected and all
of it takes years to come together to lower crime.

(01:25):
So unless you're talking about personal experience, stop
casually complaining about violent crime.
Talk about the web of things. Society at large can lower the
numbers. I'm Nick and except for this
intro, I wrote the script. And I'm Dominic, and except for
this intro, I haven't read any of today's script.

(01:46):
You know there's something. This is probably my most
all-encompassing manifesto yet. Your choice.
Your tactical use of of cool shades is brilliant.
I it is funny because I had no idea what this was going to be
and I was just like, well cuz I was last issue was the knuckles

(02:07):
one. I was like I'm going to buy
them. I'm going to buy dumb fucking
shades. It was these were on sale and I
was just like, I feel like there's a sign from God not that
I believe in him. I believe in him when I want to
make irresponsible choices and Ionly.
Call out to Jesus when you need Him to take the wheel.

(02:29):
Yeah, exactly. I, I recently bought a bike and
had the realization that if I'm going to be doing bike rides
that are long distance, I don't want bugs in my eyes.
So I went on to a subreddit, which is how you Google anything
these days. And I was like, what kind of,
what kind of bike shades do theyrecommend?

(02:49):
And they're like, well, if you want, you get these like $300.00
Oakleys. And I'm like, I don't.
And then they're like, or you can get these cool shades.
And I was like, these are still pretty expensive.
But I happened to go on the sitewhen there happened to be a sale
going on. And I was like, OK.
Does that say Viper pit? It does say Viper pit.

(03:10):
It's insane. Who's the man?
That's the name of the brand? Is that the brand of Viper Pit?
That's Yep, they all all of their glasses say Viper pit.
Can, can, can we clip this introand e-mail Viper pit and be
like, hey, can you sponsor us? You know what shot in the dark?
Why not they? They clearly know the aesthetic

(03:31):
they're going for. Their website was very like,
cool DS UI. Yeah, they they know what
they're doing. We'll give them a freebie.
Hey, this episode is brought to you by.
It's it. Honestly, I didn't even need to
say anything. It's implicitly 'cause if you're
gonna, you're gonna freak. OK, OK, let's just.
I'm not, I'm, I don't think I'm gonna wear them for the whole
episode. I feel like that might be, yeah.

(03:53):
I don't wanna blind everyone watching it on YouTube.
That was a taste for Viper Pit if you wanted to wear it the
whole episode, he will. He you will.
You will pay him and he will wear it.
I would automatically wear them every single episode.
Give, give me that money man, I am so poor.
We we are reading Archie comic Sonic the Hedgehog issue #27 Pub

(04:18):
published of August 1995. A Scrambled Hedgehog Part 1.
Late at night, deep in the bowels of Robotropolis, we find
2 dogs in SWAT bot uniforms standing beside a wall with
spray paint in their hands. Vandals.
One must assume their names Sleuth Doggy Dog and Kicks a Lot

(04:44):
Sleuth Doggy Dog is a brown dog with floppy ears, very
reminiscent of Mcgruff the CrimeDog.
Kicks a Lot is an orange dog with pointy ears.
It is at this point I wish I knew different types of dogs, as
did I, but I know corgis and that's about it.
This dog is like a corgi becausethey are both dogs and perhaps a

(05:05):
very similar shade of orange that one would associate with
the standard corgi look. But I believe that is where the
similarities between them end. So this is all right.
OK. Before, before you do whatever

(05:29):
you're about to do, I, I need you to know that I needed to
make I, I, when I started this, I literally didn't understand
what their names were. And I thought these were
nicknames. And so I went and I was just
like, OK, what are their names? And so I went on to their like
IMDb for Archie, whatever you want to call it, and.

(05:53):
So I imagine they have they havelike headshots.
Yeah, IMDb for hedgehogs. Make it happen.
Well, honestly, I mean, IMDb came about because what, it was
a way to rank hot women in movies.
I assumed, I assumed we're very close to the same thing in the

(06:16):
hedgehog universe. Anyway, I did go on their IMDb
page and saw that there's multiple issues with these guys
in them. So you gotta you gotta remember
this voice. I, I, I figured if they were
named, that's, that's what I wasplanning on and I'm going to tie
it back into an earlier dog thatI did.

(06:36):
I don't think you're going to remember it, but I did it.
So I'm going to assume that all dogs have this same accent.
My my memory is very very bad, so I can guarantee you I did not
remember this voice OK. You're sure it's safe?

(07:09):
Sleuth Doggy dog? No respect.
No respect long enough for us tosend a word kicks a lot.
Remember that. Remember that one?
I'm not going to forget the Rodney Dangerfield.
That one random dog that got trashed by bad Antoine disguised
as good Antoine. In the race car, yeah.
Yeah, so and honestly it it kindof works looking at this image

(07:34):
cause 'cause like Dangerfield has kind of that kind of thing
that dogs have. Yeah, so, so you're, he's the
Mcgruff guy. He's he's doggy dog.
Yeah, but doggy dog absolutely does kicks a lot, not as much.
OK anyway, Sleuth Doggy dog spray paints what looks to be

(07:57):
two fish looking at each other, an N2 sun symbol and a four and
a stoplight. Then he spray paints the words
Sonic and Sally with a heart around them.
So Robotic thinks that vandals have sprayed the wall and that
this isn't some secret message. A flawed plan because you
normally would want to include the names of the people that the

(08:19):
secret message is for in the secret message.
But perhaps that's why the Freedom Fighters are always on
the ropes and not winning against Robotnik.
Sleuth and Kicks run off into the night, putting their SWAT
bot disguises back on. Not long afterward, Sonic the
Hedgehog rolls up and finds a secret message on the wall.

(08:40):
He reads it and starts heading back to Knothole when he's
spotted by some SWAT bots. The SWAT bots immediately start
attacking and Sonic starts running away, only to run right
into a SWAT bot that knocks him out.
Sonic wakes up tied down to a bed.
Robotnik and Snively hover over him.

(09:01):
Take your time awakening hedgehog.
Now that I have you, I can afford to be patient, but not
too patient. After all, I have a lot of
schemes to foil and enemies to crush.
Sonic is dazed and confused. All right, all right, all right.

(09:21):
No hedge. Be a lot cooler if you did.
Hedgehog. What hedgehog?
I'm not sure who I am. Sniffly leans over to Robotnik.
I think he's faking, Dr. Let's get rid of him once and for all.

(09:43):
Quiet, Snively, this is perfect, don't you see?
He doesn't know who he is, therefore he doesn't know who or
what I am. But Sir, what if this is all an
act? Have you ever known the hedgehog
to show weakness or act so docile, Snively?

(10:04):
Not that I can recall, Doctor. Exactly.
Robotnik takes five steps towards Sonic, who was
apparently out of hearing distance of this whole
conversation. Excuse me Snively, but the lad
needs help. Robotnik turns to Sonic with
kindness and sincerity in his eyes.

(10:26):
Do you Remember Me? Nothing that's too much, sorry.
I liked that. I liked it.
Thank you. Nothing.
Nothing at all. My mind is a total blank.

(10:46):
Why am I not surprised? You mean you don't Remember Me,
your most trusted mentor and advisor to whom you turn for
guidance and support? No.
I'm very sorry, but I I don't. That's OK, my boy.
That's quite all right. Let's make sure these straps are

(11:06):
secure so you don't hurt yourself, and then you can get
some rest. We'll talk again later.
Robonic and Snively walk out of the room Sonic is detained in.
I'm beginning to get the idea stiffly.
An awful, wicked idea. So wicked I even scare myself.

(11:27):
Come, wretched assistant, there is much to do.
And of Part 1. All right, so I might, I might
have worded it poorly. What I was trying to say was
it's insane that they put Sonic and Sally's name on the wall
because they put Sonic and Sallyon the wall.

(11:47):
The first thing Robotnik would think it's like, well, OK, these
people know who Sonic and Sally are.
Do you do you think they're like, they are they super like
famous? I think everyone knows who Sonic
and. Sally.
Well, look, Sally is literally the the sovereign, right?
She is sure. But are they going around like

(12:12):
I, in my mind, I guess I always kind of picture the reality of
their like living situation as like obviously they're famous in
that whole village, but outside of that, I, I don't think people
know them. That's how I've always kind of
interpreted this. Outside of Knothole, you're

(12:32):
saying. Outside of the Knothole
civilization. Oh yeah, the the area large like
'cause the fucking the loser guythat has a lot of people skunk.
Oh, I don't. I did not know who you were
referring to. Yeah.
No. Jeffrey Saint John.
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, he didn't know who.

(12:54):
I mean, he knew who Sally was, but only because he was in the
like, the Royal Guard or whatever.
But you didn't know who Sonic was.
I mean, look, the important thing is that this is Robotnik's
thing, right? This matters that Robotnik
thinks this is Sonic and Sally, right?

(13:15):
I don't think I I. Or you're saying you're saying
that the the dogs? They don't want no, no, no.
What I'm saying is they're they're they're doing the heart
symbol to show that it's Vandalsdoing it right.
But the mere fact that they're putting Sonic and Sally's name

(13:39):
on the wall, I feel like impliesthat they're not they're that
they're somehow associated with Sonic and Sally.
You know what I mean? Like I feel like.
I think I kind of do I, I would think that if it's anything,
well, first of all, we haven't established what the Freedom

(13:59):
Fighters decentralization policyis as a resistance movement.
But it seems that at this point in time, everything is very
centralized to Sonic and Sally as the people in charge of this
resistance movement, specifically the resistance
movement, which is the Freedom Fighters.
So anything that the freedom fighters are involved with, you
can reliably bet that Sonic and Sally are at least have a

(14:22):
cursory understanding of whatever situation is going on.
So if you just print everything with Sonic and Sally in it, that
might mislead Robotnik to think that it is someone else or it's
not someone else. It's everything is just Sonic
and Sally related, right? I accept it.
It's it's like, it's like the myth of this, not the myth, but

(14:45):
like the the appearance of strength of the CIA where it's
like, yeah, we're the CIA. We know everything because we're
the FN CIA. So in that sense, you know,
everyone's always thinking, well, the CIA might might be
listening in on this or the FBI,right?
And if we're thinking domestically right going.
On anymore. Not anymore.
Not, not, not, not as this administration, but I, I don't

(15:07):
know, I, I kind of like it because this, I kind of like the
aspect that they are going into like secret messages and stuff.
Oh, I like, I do like that part.It was just the fact that they
put Sonic and Sally down. I was like, that feels like
you're shooting yourself in the foot.
No, see, I like it because it's like, well, it I think it is so
plainly obvious that it is a secret message.

(15:30):
That that's the thing. Maybe that's what my real
problem is because it's chip like I I what kind of who would
graffiti this? Yeah, that that's very true.
If anything, it would be more like what the Underground
Railroad did, which I think every school in America during
our time knows this, this aspectwhere during the Underground

(15:51):
Railroad while it was in use, like people would use quilts,
slaves and people who are tryingto free the slaves used quilts
to like secret messages to like, hey, follow the North Star with
you see this quilt or go this way.
If you see this quilt or we're compromised, If you see this
quilt, do not come to us. And I, I don't think there was a

(16:11):
universal standardization, but that's kind of the point, so.
My my problem with the Underground Railroad is be
careful. How, how, how do you make such a
big railroad system and then we lose it?
That that's what makes Harriet Tubman so cool.
She figured it out. Yeah, she dug those tunnels

(16:32):
herself across this entire country.
Yeah, man, she was John Henry. I could have done better with
that joke. I could have worked.
I, I don't know. I'm I'm not on my A game today,
guys. You've played too much Bolter's
Gate. Yeah.
And now it can't be funny. I if you guys heard me earlier,

(16:54):
all of my comedy was used on Bolter's Gate.
All all my good stuff and Lord knows I can't repeat it in the
same night. Were you streaming?
No, no, no. In fact, I was going to announce
streaming. Well, OK, OK, this is this.
It's extremely funny you say that because this is gonna air
after it happens, but I was going to announce my triumphant

(17:19):
return to streaming with MonsterHunter and I took I took Friday
off work and I'm gonna stream all day.
This has already happened, so you missed it, but you might be
able to watch the video on demand if you're interested.
I'm gonna be, I didn't tell him yet, but I'm probably gonna be
streaming with Mike F and he also took off work and you do

(17:41):
have become. Soft, fast friends, I love it.
Yeah, And then I was gonna finally go back to committing to
a schedule of streaming every probably Tuesday, maybe
Thursday, and then I've just found out that I have to go away
for three weeks for work, so. When I get that discord.

(18:02):
Yeah, so you, you guys are gonnaget a few episodes of Discord in
a row, so we apologize. We know Discord isn't ideal, but
you know, that's life, baby. I, I bet you a lot of people are
gonna start saying like people who are going through this.
It's like, I think I kind of like the Discord episodes better
somehow, someway. That's yeah, I don't know.

(18:24):
I got an elephant. Me neither.
A scramble. Oh, what?
What do we think about the setup?
It's a classic amnesia. Story.
Thank you. Yeah.
Classic amnesia story. I'm, I was very apprehensive of
reading that first part 'cause it go, of course they're doing
this, but I, if we can, when we continue, I, I, I think there's
more to it. No, I I definitely think the

(18:46):
interesting thing here is kicks a lot and doggy dog.
I agree say Sir kicks a lot. Yes I.
I OK, so if you think about it, those names.
Yeah. If we're just on a broad
sociological state scale, kind of sounds like a Native American

(19:09):
name. Like in this culture are dogs
the Native Americans, 'cause youknow, you know how in the
native, in the Native Indian, Native American cultures, it's
not like American names, right? It's not like Western
traditional names like John Smith, right?
It's, it's descriptive of, you know what I'm saying, right?

(19:29):
No, no, I I I understand it. It's because they are
descriptive of their personalities with their names,
which is something that is not common in Western names.
Yeah, I, I, no, I take that backbecause originally.
In a different way, yeah. 'Cause I mean it used to be your

(19:51):
name and then like your job title.
Right, that's true. That's why I was like John
Smith, 'cause he was a blacksmith.
Or that's the only example I canthink of.
Cooper barrel maker, right? Yeah, that's definitely always
what I assumed, but. That that's true, yeah.

(20:13):
But in any case, it's OH. Is that OK?
Sorry, keep on going. Yeah.
Cooper is a barrel maker. Is that why do you keep whining
barrels? I don't know, I maybe I think
so. OK, I was thinking maybe don't
worry about it. The the thing I like about this

(20:36):
is they're going to go do crimes.
I got crimes and they take off their disguise of a swap bot to
do the crime so that they could be easily identified.
Well to be fair, if a swap bot is graffitiing then they're
caught anyway. I I'm I'm I get what you're

(20:56):
saying. I'm assuming it's because they
can't see out of those things aswell if they're trying to do
graffiti. I don't know.
For the sake of the plot they need to.
We need to see their face, right?
Well, yeah. Kind of, sort of, yeah.
Yeah, fun setup. I like just like how Robotnik is
like. Just go ahead, say again.

(21:18):
I like that Robotnik is like you.
You stay here and I'm gonna makesure these straps are secure.
And then he just like, walks away with Sonic tied down to a
table. Yeah, I do.
I I just, I just think it's coolthat if every dog has a name
like that, then that's actually cool.
World building. World building because it's
still, and it's kind of an implicit joke that all dogs are

(21:41):
still named like humans have them as pets even though they
are they are the society. They are anthropomorphic
animals. We gotta we gotta like write
down a post it note so we don't forget, so that the next time we
see a dog, we can. I'm not gonna forget.
Yeah, it'll actually, it'll be very obvious, 'cause it's gonna

(22:01):
be something like, yeah, it's gonna be something like that, a
name like that. A scrambled hedgehog.
Part 2 Robotnik is cheering Sonic as he beats up realistic
robot duplicates of the Freedom Fighters.
Sonic defeats the robots easily.Snively points out that these
robots aren't as strong as the Freedom Fighters.

(22:22):
Robotnik smiles and says that's the beauty of this plan.
Snively, I'm not so much concerned with them stopping
Sonic as I am counting on their hesitancy to take action against
Sonic. Robotnik congratulates Sonic and
says he's ready for the real thing, and Robotnik shares his

(22:44):
plan. The evil Princess Sally and her
band of cutthroats threaten to overthrow the government, and
since we can't strike until we know where to strike, you're to
resume the mission you are carrying out.
Locate not whole village, observe the underground
terrorist group and learn their plans.

(23:08):
Sonic runs off in the general direction that Robotnik suspects
that Knothole Village is located.
We cut to Robotnik and Snively watching Sonic on a surveillance
camera. While Sonic was unconscious,
Robotnik implanted a microtransmitter on Sonic.
He has demolition tractors on standby that has directional

(23:29):
homing to the transmitter on Sonic.
Once Sonic finds not whole village, these demolition
tractors will be right behind. We cut back to Sonic where he
finds a tree trunk that looks vaguely familiar to him.
He goes and investigates it and discovers a secret passage in

(23:49):
the trunk. Going underground we see
Robotnik and Snively watching Sonic on the monitors.
After all this time Snively we finally learn where the secret
entrance is and with the tractors tracking Sonic from the
surface, it won't be long till we learn the location of Not
Pole Village AKA Ground Zero. Weird 911 reference dude.

(24:17):
End of Part 2. Yeah, I don't know why he would
just bring up 911 like. That I I thought the same thing.
There's a panel specifically here where they drew way too
many spikes on Sonic. It's on P7.
It's it's so creepy. It looks a little one too many.

(24:40):
Yeah, interesting plan from Robotnik.
Very convoluted. Very.
I'm gonna. Yeah.
I don't. This is one of those things
where I respect him. I think it's silly but also I
don't get what's happening because he says he put a homing
device on him but also they havelike a direct video feed of

(25:03):
Sonic also so I don't know why he feels the need to put the
homing thing on when he like hasit and he can just no no.
No, no, it makes sense because imagine you're watching this,
this first person camera from robotics view.
And it's like, OK, we have, we have the view, but we don't know

(25:25):
where he is exactly. It let me rephrase, they have
the GPS. Right.
What why why does he have it so the tanks will just auto go to
the GPS location where he could get the location and then send
the tanks. But having having this it just
feels like it complicates thingsin a unnecessary way.

(25:47):
Maybe. Maybe it's setting up a plot
point later, I don't know. A scrambled Hedgehog, Part 3.
We are in the underground command facility of Knothole
Village, presumably the Freedom Fighter's headquarters.
Alarms are going off, and we seeRotor sitting in a command
center, watching Sonic race downa hallway.
He scans the hedgehog and decides that it is indeed Sonic

(26:12):
the Hedgehog. However, he notes that something
seems off. Rotor scans Sonic and finds that
Sonic has some sort of device inhim that even Sonic may not be
aware. He has Sally, in what some would
say. A cold hearted move, demands
Rotor to close the entrance to the command center so that Sonic

(26:35):
cannot enter. Sonic is standing at the close
off entrance, wondering how he can breakthrough when he starts
hearing rumbling above them. We cut back to Snively and
Robotnik watching everything over sensors embedded in Sonic.
The first demolition tractor is in position over the entrance.

(26:56):
Very good Snively. And now for the countdown, if
only to savor the moment for allit's worth. 109876 Doctor
Robotnik, we have a glitch. Sir, we have a glitch.
Cut down, aborted. This had better be good.

(27:17):
Sniffly, Dr. Our transmitter shows that the hedgehog has been
sealed off somewhere at a tunnel.
He's nowhere near the objective,Sir.
Robonic sighs. Is that all merely a minor
irritant? I took precautions since the
hedgehog isn't as capable in hiscurrent condition as I'd like.

(27:41):
I thought a little extra something would come in handy,
and as usual, I have been provencorrect.
Robotnik calls Sonic over a transmitter that Sonic didn't
even know he had. Make a fist and raise your left
gloved hand toward the obstructing door.
Use your right hand to press on the pad covering your knuckles.

(28:04):
Sonic does as he's told, and thelaser shoots out of the glove,
destroying the door. Roder and Sally are now in a
panic. Sonic has gone through Princess.
Worse yet, he's to be consideredarmed and dangerous.
He's approaching the triple junction.

(28:25):
If he gets past that, no matter what, Roder, no matter what,
Sonic is not to make it through.Take any and all actions
necessary to stop him. We can't risk everyone's safety
because he used to be our friend.
Sonic arrives at the triple junction and doesn't know which
door to go through. He chooses 1 randomly and runs

(28:47):
through the tunnel he's coming through and his transmitter is
still sending. Our security codes are somehow
being overridden and only something drastic has any chance
of stopping Sonic. We haven't any choice at this
moment. Rotor, flood all the tunnels at
my command now. Rotor pushes a button and water

(29:10):
starts flooding the tunnels. Sonic stops and sees a wave of
water coming at him. Sonic immediately turns around
and starts running the way he came.
Resume countdown Snively. We have to.
We may be able to salvage this mess yet.
Sonic is running through the tunnels when he hears some
rumbling above him and then a cave and blocks his exit.

(29:35):
It seems Sonic the Hedgehog is going to die.
End of Part 3. I I I love Sally in this.
Yeah. Absolutely unhinged because.
Not even locked in. Locked in as the leader of her
people. What what I, I mean, yes, I

(29:57):
agree 1000% but like it's all based off of like a suspicion
that like Sonic seems off, but like, how do you even make that
decision? Like, the fastest thing alive is
running into your base and you're like, something seems
weird and we're gonna just closethe door and then immediately

(30:19):
flood the tunnels to like, kill him.
So obviously previous, none of the previous previous issues
have signaled this at all. But maybe Sonic is also
disobeying a protocol where it'slike, no, this is really off.
To be fair, though, like this isit.

(30:40):
This is the secret entrance to the whole not just the base, but
the whole society, which despitewhat again, what we saw in
previous issues, we're gonna getsome retconning here.
But beyond that, robotics like, no, this is I have found it.
Eureka, I am going to find in genocide all of these people.
So it is all riding on this singular.

(31:03):
I, I, I agree, yeah, it's. It's like, it's like nuclear
weapons. You can't be too careful.
Well, to me it seems like maybe the X escalation was a little
fast, but at the same time I'm here for it.

(31:27):
I like the fact that Sally was immediately like, I'll kill this
fucking guy, I don't give a shit.
It does. It does say a lot about her
character though. I like.
That it's so cool. I I This is the coolest thing
that Sally has done by far, and arguably one of the cooler
things in the comic. Speaking of that whole village,

(31:50):
I I have finally decided on something that makes sense,
which is there is an area in theforest that's either like
incredibly dense or maybe like inside like a volcano or
something where like with high ridges or maybe just like an
area where like their backs are against the wall.

(32:13):
And the only easily accessible way to that section of the
forest is through these underground tunnels.
And then the underground tunnelsare also where their command
center is. That is, that is my
understanding of this world now.Yeah, that, that, that's exactly

(32:34):
how they describe it. And that's exactly how I'm also
interpreting it as well, becausethat's the, I mean, look, they
that is a atrociously long tunnel.
Like, well. And that's.
Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if on
the other end of it, there's like service vehicles that it's
like, OK, it's another 20 minuteride.
But because, well, to be fair, he's going so fast that Sally

(32:55):
has to make a decision. It's kind of like nuclear, like
showdown where it's like, hey, Mr. President, we have like 30
minutes to make a decision to end the world or not based off
of this reading that we have. And it's not much, but that's
all you got. If you've seen there's like
Youtubers who have done who havelike set up advanced nuclear
decision making scenarios with like former heads of or like

(33:18):
former government officials. And it's actually very cool and,
and also terrifying at the same time where it's like, yeah, no,
you have minutes to make a decision that will determine the
fate of billions. So it's in that sense I do I, I
don't, I didn't see a single damn thing wrong with the
situation. I do think it is a little cheap.

(33:40):
That rotor came to the conclusion through a scan.
Yeah, 1000% but I accept it. In fact, I would have preferred
if they didn't scan and they're just like he seems off shut the
door. This isn't he would never do
this. Some more deliberation.
Yeah, if, if, if this actually you're, you're 1000% right.

(34:02):
If there was no scan, which feels very cheap.
If there was no scan and you gave us a couple more panels of
like, this is my lover, right? Like I love him and and then
Sally goes wait, wait a second. I thought I I thought I was.
No, I'm kidding. No.
I always shit Sonic and Rotor. Yeah, it just feels.
Right, Sonic and Rotor, Yeah. What would that be, Schroeder?

(34:28):
Shroomer if you're if you're an OG like us or Bonnic.
Bonnic or Boomic? Boomic, that's better.
There you go. Anyway, yeah, it's it's high
tension and I kind of like it. Kind of reminds me of the scenes
in Air Force One, the movie where it's been.

(34:49):
Years since I've seen it. It's a good fucking movie.
I love that movie, dude. It's it's it's actually crazy
good. How?
It's actually amazing how crazy good it is in my in my opinion,
where it's like, yeah, that's myevery time I see Harrison Ford,
I do the final kill on Gary, Gary Oldman, where it's like,
get off my plane. I I just go to myself.

(35:10):
That's my fucking president. That's the president I never
had. Let's finish it out here, baby.
A scrambled hedgehog, Part 4. Sonic stops right before the
rubble, water coming right at him from behind.
That's it. Time to go.
Sonic. Rev up my supersonic spin.

(35:33):
Sonic starts spin dashing and goes vertically through the
dirt. Holy tight fit.
I'm a hedgehog, not a mole. Still, I better keep spinning if
I want to make it out of this alive and kicking.
Funny though how I instinctivelyknew what to do.
Forget the soul searching hero and just spin on Robotnik and

(35:55):
stively have lost contact with Sonic.
Their plan is to just hang tightand see how the situation
unfolds. Sonic is still spin, dashing.
The water's been filling up behind me and not much air left.
Don't know how much longer I canjuice.
We cut the Rotor and Sally in the command center.

(36:17):
But they have. But they have also lost visual
on Sonic. Sonic bursts out of the ground
and is now on solid land. Off in the distance we see a
portion of Knothole Village, Robotic and Snively have visual
again, and the demolition tractors are in the middle of
homing in on Sonic again. We cut to the village, sirens

(36:39):
are blaring. Antoine is there and he calls
out to the villagers to get everyone into the barricades and
he grabs a select few villagers to stand guard with him.
Sonic is charging fast and before anyone can react, they
are all knocked out by Sonic. We cut to the command room with
Sally and Rotor. Sonic has broken through

(37:00):
Princess we must do anything to.We see a shadow of a hedgehog in
the doorway. He cuts Sally off.
Stop me the original bad boy. He starts singing Bad boy, bad
boy, what you going to do? What you going to do when I come

(37:22):
forward, you bad boy? What you gonna do in deed Sonic
the Hedgehog? Find out next week in Saturday
night's All Right for a fight. End of Part 4.
The the singing of Bad boy, Yeah, instantly I, I in my

(37:48):
heart, I don't think this is what's happening, but it
instantly made me think that cool Sonic came.
This is cool Sonic 'cause that feels like such a cool Sonic
thing to do. Yeah, you're totally right.
I I do not think they're going in that direction.
No, and that would be a. Fit for like, it's really bad
and I was like, oh shit, do we have full Sonic here?

(38:11):
It's such overwritten. It's so overwritten.
Like literally the last line, which is an OK last line.
Stop me. The original bad boy.
That's all you had to do. You did not need that song.
Yeah, I I agree 1000%. And obviously this at the time

(38:31):
of this airing, right, or when, when did cops go hit the scene,
hit the hit the airwaves? I don't know, late late like
90s? So after this.
That that that was. Wow, I'm so incredibly wrong.
When did 1989? Wow, that felt 90s to me.

(38:55):
Dominik There's 36 seasons of Cops of Cops.
I'm not surprised by that. It's endless content.
We could we can start a podcast watching every single episode of
Cops. We don't need to do that.

(39:16):
There's like a 50 million Twitter accounts that cover
crime on a daily basis in the worst possible way.
As I, as I wrote in the beginning of this intro at at
the beginning intro where it's like, yeah, let me just tweet
out or overblow this one incident where it's like, yeah,
sure, someone got mugged. That's bad.
That's not good at all. And I, I hope that person finds

(39:40):
some kind of pieces. That's got to be traumatizing.
But like, there is a way to fix this and it's through societal
reconstruction, through things like health care, education and,
you know, criminal justice reform.
But no, you let's just let's just constantly talk about crime
and nothing else at all. Maybe throw more cops at the
problem 'cause that's totally which the hey, you got me on a

(40:01):
rant now. But anyway if.
Please I I love this. Like at the very least, which is
not the case at all, but at the very least, if there was a shred
of consistency in these people'sviews, it would be OK sure,
let's throw a trillion dollars of the police.
Let's give it to him. At the same time, because we
want crime to actually lower, let's do it both ways.

(40:21):
Let's throw a trillion dollars of the police and then a
trillion dollars on like, you know, all those things I had
mentioned earlier, social services that way from both ends
of this. But no, it's literally just
crime. It's literally just give the
police more of absolutely everything that way.
Give them give them M raps that that way from military surplus
that Reagan signed in that way, you know they're prepared for

(40:45):
absolutely anything and everything that even Tom Clancy
couldn't write a crime that could be bested by this nation's
over militarized police forces. But regardless, it it it bothers
me that Ken Penders really believed that he needed to write

(41:05):
that song at the end. You, you did a great job of
transitioning right back to Sonic, and I just want to
acknowledge that because I'm bringing it right back to cops.
That's how we juice. Because I'm on the Wikipedia
page for Cops and there's two things I want to call out.
One The show follows 140 different cities in the United

(41:25):
States, Hong Kong, London and the Soviet Union.
They had episodes. That's actually awesome.
Hold on, hold on. That's actually kind of cool.
I know you want to know something not cool but the boy

(41:48):
but. The boy what you're going to do,
what you're going to do? Bad.
Boy. Bad boy, what you gonna do?
What you gonna do when I come for you?

(42:09):
Bad boy, Bad boy, What? You good?
As they all eat, What was it? Pizza Hut?
Is that the that broke down the wall?
No, Gorbachev. Yeah, Gorbachev eats pizza.
Hey, Dominic here. Shortly after we finished
recording this episode, Nick found the Cops in Russia episode

(42:31):
and it was uploaded to YouTube by Kevin Edmonds, so you can
find it there. You have to watch this.
Whatever you're doing, pull overon the side of the road.
Look this up right now 'cause it's amazing.
And listen to the music. So we're going to play the
intro. The following program was taped
over a 16 day period in Leningrad and Moscow by 6 camera

(42:54):
teams, 3 American, three RussianSoviet officials allowed the
crews unprecedented access to all police operations and
permitted all footage to be cleared without censorship or
review. None.

(44:02):
Tonight, for the first time in history, thanks to the new
policy of glasnost, the world will ride along with the Soviet
militia, Russia's national police force, an international
television event direct from Moscow and Leningrad.
This is the reality of the men and women who protect and serve
in the Soviet Union. Unfortunately for the one

(44:27):
thousandth episode, Terry Crews went on the program and they
just did a like a bunch of historical clips and did a bunch
of interviews of reunions of officers and the suspects they
arrested. Sure.
Which that sounds incredibly gross.
Imagine hosting a clip show of aclip show.

(44:54):
Yeah, I do like Brooklyn 99, forthe record.
Like I I, is it propaganda? Yeah, it kind of is, but I still
like it. It's OK to like things like
that. I, I, I, what I'll say is I
liked it enough where I got to like season 5:00-ish and then I
kind of just fell off and. I was like.

(45:17):
What I'll say is like, I would watch the episodes and I was
like, this is fine, this is fine.
And then something hilarious would happen and then it would
go back to being like, yeah, this is OK.
Like every now and then it wouldbe like, good if he chuckles in.
And then, yeah. Exact same, exact same
trajectory. But for me, the this is fine,
this is fine was elevated a little bit more I I was having a

(45:40):
good time the whole way through, punctuated by just moments of
absolute hilarity. Yeah, there.
There's definitely some very funny moments in that show.
Sorry, that was we. We really went on tangent there.
I don't even know if we talked. I love Sonic beating up the
villagers. Give me more.
That's great. That's awesome that that is the
full logic of of this plan and I, I enjoy it.

(46:02):
I'm glad that he's actually fighting local villagers.
Well and low key and I I doubt they will ever do this, but the
villagers will forever have in the back of their mind.
Sonic can come and beat us up atany time and we can't do
anything about it. Like if they didn't acknowledge

(46:24):
the power and balance before, they have to now and.
Yeah, it's literally Injustice the Superman, the the DC
alternate university. Oh sure, Superman going and
going like going evil. He can just go rogue at any
moment in time and he can just snap the world away with a, with
a good couple of punches 'cause he's that I, I, I hope.

(46:48):
This actually like something triggers in Sally's mind being
like we need something that can take on Sonic like a cool Sonic.
No, but like back up. Hamlin, Hamlin, Hamlin, Jeffrey,
Saint John, Evil Sonic. I've gathered you all here

(47:11):
today. Evil.
Sonic goes. What are we, some kind of
Suicide Squad? Oh, my God, no.
I want Sally, you know, that Batman plan where he's just
like, yeah, he's got asteroid ofkryptonite, just like circling
the Earth just in case. I want, I want the same thing

(47:31):
for Sonic, just like I got I. What's Sonic's weakness?
Asteroid of glue circling aroundEarth.
Have you, have you heard on YouTube, I don't know what the
source of material is, but it's Kevin Conroy reciting personal
files of Batman where it's like this is these are personal files

(47:52):
where it's it's a way to stop every single member of the
Justice League and and other heroes should any of them ever
turn. I think I was.
Did he do that at a like convention or something?
I don't think it was like it sounded like it was in a
recording booth. So it's probably from something
like some kind of show or something.
I don't know. I have no idea.

(48:13):
I just know that it's on YouTubeand it's, it's fascinating
because he, he breaks it down like like a file for every
single person, including himself.
Yeah, I feel like I remember that because is he says the
asteroid thing in that right. No, I think he says like
Krypton, obviously Kryptonite and just consistently using
kryptonite to to weaken him and deliver the killing blow.

(48:36):
Overall, I like this. Obviously we're not gonna have
Robotnik kill Sonic, which is the logical thing to do.
So if we're not gonna kill Sonic, I like his, like, attempt
at making everyone like be terrorized by Sonic, because

(48:56):
then it breaks a trust that likeSonic had.
I I think that's brilliant. My, my one concern for the next
issue, the continuation or however this story concludes, is
that the stakes that are on the line here do not play out at all

(49:17):
what we're thinking in the next one.
Oh, I. That's my number one concern,
'cause this, this is, this is Ken, right?
This is the more serious story. Did you?
Did we actually, did you give credit in the opening of this?
I did not script Ken Penders pencils, Art Mahuini.
Yeah, well, that's all we normally do, right?

(49:38):
Yeah, exactly. That's that's fine.
I mean that it I could tell right away this was a more
serious Ken Pender story, and it's.
All the moment, the moment they started introducing new
characters in the first channel,it's a Ken Penders.
But also I I'm actually proud ofmyself.
I did notice that this was I knew it wasn't spaziante and it

(49:58):
was I was between either Art or the other gentleman that usually
draws the normally the sillier stories.
Yeah, the more cartoony ish. Yeah, cartoonish.
So the, I think art is, is like the in between of the, of the
big three artists as of this issue between spaz, who's more
on the stylistic, I guess more 'cause we associate him with the

(50:23):
more serious stories versus the third artist.
I'm really, I'm really failing to, to remember here.
That's like full on Kitty or notKitty, but more like like like
Disney esque, not Disney esque. You know what I'm saying?
Right? It's it's friendlier.
It's a friendlier kind of style.Whereas Art Mcwhinney I think is
closer to that friendlier style, but a little more in the middle.

(50:48):
Dave Manak. Dave Manak, thank you so much.
I think I think the highs of spaz is the the best, but if
we're going for like consistencyart, art is probably my
favorite. I agree.
But man, when Spaz hits, Spaz isgreat.
It's just after that last one wedid, which was the what Sonic CD

(51:11):
one that he did where I was justlike, it's too busy.
I can't tell what's going on sometimes.
I mean I can tell I'm not an idiot but like I have to like
concentrate too much. It's it's, it's, it's a little
more bold and I appreciate it for that.
Yeah, he's willing to take wild swings, which I I really like.

(51:33):
Man, what a this white screen too bright.
Should be in dark mode. Don't worry.
I can't even look annoyed that that's you look so cool.
I know. It looks it's it's cyberpunk red
or cyberpunk like magenta. I was specifically looking for
something green like knuckles and they didn't have anything so

(51:56):
they had a pretty cool purple, but I was like I don't know if I
can pull off purple so I. Think you could have pulled off
purple? I but I mean I can pull anything
off. That I I that that's a really
nice hoodie, or at least I like the color of it.
Oh. I I I love this pink hoodie.
I get complimented on this all the time.
Yeah, you should. And it's like a little Mac
Little Mac pink, but the from like punch out.

(52:19):
But you it it it works really well with those shades.
So Congrats, you made it. This episode may be in the
future sponsored by Viper pit. They can pay us retroactively.
Yeah, that's how that works. Right, that's how that works.
And that's how much should they pay for like 10 people viewing?

(52:44):
Maybe they'll give us sympathy shades and they'll send you a
pair. And that's the issue.
Only 391 episodes left to go. I'm Nick, I stream at
