(00:01):
Last week I discussed failure. Youmissed that episode, go back and play
it, Okay, go back.I discussed failure and what it feels like
to me. My definition's broken down. Fly shit. Good episode again,
go back if you haven't heard it. I appreciate all the love on the

(00:23):
episode, as well as just thelove on this grab a Glass journey reaching
the four year of milestone. Butsomeone asked me, and I appreciate it
because it was a friendly and genuinechallenge, which I always accept. They
asked, how can I say I'mafraid of failure when I have clearly been

(00:46):
in pursuit of something for four years, completely put myself out there. How
could I say that I'm afraid offailure and I have a history of just
going for it if you know mewell, which I was, you know
me well enough to be playing this. But if you know me well,
I've always kind of gone for it. And I said to them, my

(01:08):
fear of failure is absolutely real.It exists, it is present, but
it does not and will not stopme. The light and be yondbiyonce is
nice. I'm gonna keep it.Flattening tears on the line. We have

(01:38):
a lost so craver love all right, vibes are right on. Beyonce is
right. This is the bottle ofCalifornia Cabernet Sauvignan. I don't feel like
telling you the brand for a myriadof reasons. Nothing against y'all and is

(02:00):
whatever. I just have it hereand I'm finna drink it, so I
didn't pay for it. But youknow right now I'm not. I'm not
fucking with them. It's a bold, bold cabinet Samona, California. It's
exactly what you would expect. What'sit tastes like? It tastes like what

(02:20):
it tastes like. It tastes likeuncommon wealth and fuck you money. That's
what it tastes like to me.That's what it tastes like to me,
which is not bad per se.You know, it is what it is.
This is another episode of a podcastcalled Grab a Glass About Yours Truly.
David Thomas, better known as DTput your Money in, mother fucking

(02:43):
put Matt Boys, also known asthe one and Only Big Broccoli. I
got a short message for you totoday. I do a little short message
today because a lot of shit's goingon a lot and the culture and my
life and all that they that culminatein my life. I could talk about
so much, but I'm just seeingcommon threads. It's what my gift is.

(03:07):
Common threads, common themes, commoneverything. Everything's connected, isn't it.
I'm seeing that those of us whoare genuine and pure and driven and
not malicious and not trying to dothings for attention or be performative, have

(03:32):
got to be careful and aware ofwhat things are muddying the water, what
things are muddying the message, andthat can apply. Just think about what's
happening in your life around you, surrounding you, the headlines, Twitter,

(03:59):
threads, its TikTok or whatever youare seeing on your screens or otherwise.
There's real messaging, a side ofpeople, or a side side of people
that are genuinely trying to make apoint and deliver a message. And then

(04:27):
there are people a side of peoplethat are opposite that. Sure, there's
an opposition, but then okay, here we go. There's the side of
people that are on the first side. I talked about those that are trying
to be pure and clear and delivera message, that are acting as if
they're with them, But you cantell I always tell they're doing some phony

(04:53):
shit that's making that message, thatclear pure message look weaker. Let's use
what's happening on college campuses as anexample. You have to be living under
a rock or just not care aboutpolitics at all to know that there have
been protests happening all over the countryon college campuses surrounding the Israel Palestine conflict.

(05:25):
Go back to some episodes, youknow what, I think we don't
need to rehash that, but whatyou will see is that there are definitely
students at these universities that genuinely wantto work with their administrations, that want
to have their voices heard, andthat want to just deliver a message.

(05:49):
And then there are agitators, peoplewho are acting as if they're the exact
same as those students that are intelligentand want to like conquered this thing and
have their message be heard and seeaction. And then there are people who
are pretending to be that and justwant to fuck shit up, just want

(06:11):
attention, just want some violence andsome escalation and muddying the water. The
message is being lost. It's horrible. Not students, people who don't even
go to school there, that aren'teven affected by what the students are trying
to advocate for just going and fuckingshit up, muddying the message. Be

(06:34):
careful all types of wrap beef anddisk tracks, and we don't need to
get into all of it. Youknow how, if you listen again,
maybe that should be the name ofthe episode. If you listen, you
know what I think. You knowwho I'm worried with. But I like

(06:58):
the discourse. I think that thereare conversations that are being had about this
artist and that artist and what thatartist is represented and what this one is
represented. That's great, and everybody'sentitled to their opinion. It's just entertainment
for the most part. But thenyou'll look at the timeline, or you'll

(07:18):
be in a barbershop conversation or whateverthe case may be, a group text,
and there will be somebody who voicesan opinion. You're just like,
you're not of this. Let megive you an example. And I almost
got caught up in it. I'mscrolling through the timeline. I think I

(07:42):
can't remember it was video, soit was either Instagram or TikTok. And
at this point, if you clickon anything on your algorithm, that's what
you're gonna get for the next thirtytwo to forty seven business days, You're
just gonna get that content. SoI've made the mistake of liking if you
tweet it's about the fact that Drakeis a culture vulture. And then here
we go. Now my whole shitis Kendrick drink No matter what. I

(08:05):
had to actively search for news toget news back on my platform, and
I see a video of somebody breakingdown some lyrics. Now I got about
ten seconds into the video before Isaid, why would I ever Why would
I ever take your word or youropinion and put any stock in it based

(08:31):
on this black art form and allthe history that goes behind it. Now,
I wasn't judging a book by itscover. I never do that.
I made sure that I would goto that person's profile and see what they
talked about. Typically, I promiseyou it was never about any black issues,
muddying the water, fucking up themessage. It's happening all over the

(08:54):
place. Things that you may seethat you should be aware of, especially
if you're trying to actually take inthe message that is being portrayed. We
gotta watch out for man explaining andI I guys, gals, everybody.

(09:16):
I'm trying my best not to bethat type of podcaster. I'm never trying
to man explain shit, y'all know. If I have it's something I don't
know about or I don't feel comfortablewith, I'll bring a guest. It's
rare, but I will bring aguest on the talk. Podcasting has gotten
fucking muddy. Oh my god,the mud, the muck everybody. I

(09:43):
say it a lot, but everybodygot a podcast. I'm not trying to
pick on people, so I won'tsay, well, I maybe I will.
There's NBA wives that have a podcasttalking about stuff. There's oh,
there's This is Us. The actorsfrom This Is Us have a podcast now
about the show. It's just gosh, everything is just being muddied. I

(10:09):
say all that to say, asyou are navigating whatever you're in taking or
outputting right, because some of usare consumers, some of us are creators,
most of us are both. Ifyou're putting on a message, I
would hope that you're careful not tomuddy your own message or to allow anybody

(10:33):
to make your message a little murky. And as you are taking in any
and everything you see that you're tryingto get the most authentic, genuine,
pure message you can receive, becauseit is just easy, easy, easy
now to allow disingenuine voices, justpurely disingenuous to seeping. Much love to

(11:05):
the creators, the true creators,no matter your flavor, May God forever
be in our favor. My nameis David Gerard Thomas. Cheers everybody,
Thanks for listening.
