(00:03):
The blobs are right and the ambianceis nice. I'm gonna keep it.
Fly tears on the line as well, kicking that have the lost cast so
(00:24):
craverl lost all right. Vibes areright, ambiance is right. This is
the bottle of twenty sixteen Kiana PinoNoir from Willikensia State. I've talked about
this on this podcast before, soI'm not gonna go into all the tasting.
He knows how it smells other goodstuff. You can look it up
(00:45):
again, twenty sixteen, Kiana PinoNoir from Wilikensia State. But right now,
as I'm sipping it, it tasteslike, or what it really tastes
like, is excellent conversation, Likewhat a just enticing, amazing conversation where
(01:11):
you are being heard and you arein taking someone's perspective. That's what it
tastes like to me. We allknow that those of us who are just
on the wave of trying to learnand increase our intelligence, what stimulating conversation
really feels like. That's what thisreally tastes like to me. And I've
had a bunch of those this weekand that makes me happy. I like
(01:34):
quality time with people and being ableto have a good catch up session.
I think it's important, and Ijust hope that you genuinely did something the
way that a good conversation does forme, that you did something to make
you really really happy this week.Going into this week, everyone around me,
(01:57):
but especially my cowork is kind oflike the small talk at the beginning
of a meeting. They were allasking what everyone had planned for the holiday
and for the weekend. And sometimeswhen I get that question and I have
nothing planned, it's an easy answerbecause I've already thought, like, no,
(02:20):
I don't want to do shit,I want to relax, I want
to catch up on sleep. We'rejust gonna rest this weekend. That's always
an answer for me. However, this holiday, people asked that, and
I had legitimately forgotten that it wasa holiday in the middle of the week,
mind you, and that I reallydidn't have any plans because I hadn't
(02:44):
even put my brain to it yet. It wasn't on purpose that I was
gonna say, I'm gonna rest andchill, and I really had no idea,
so that was just gonna be thedefault. I was so caught off
guard by the question when it came, so I just replied, I'm sure
we'll find something that makes us happy, but we have no plans. However,
(03:06):
with the time off, that's exactlywhat we did. I wasn't just
blowing smoke. Somehow, someway,we found a way to be super happy
with spontaneous plans in the moment allweek and all weekend to make us happy.
Each day, we woke up threeof us and just decided something fun
(03:29):
to do that would just put asmile on our face, and we did
a lot. We ate a newrestaurant, Top Burmese here in Portland,
so good. Baby boy got totry some solids, which was awesome.
We love going to a new restaurantand it panting out man makes us so
happy. But I feel like havingthe ability to do that and pushing ourselves
(03:53):
to do that for whatever reason,it feels like a lost art for all
of us. Busy, busy, busy schedule, schedule, schedule, Everything
is part of the schedule. Letme check the agenda. We all have
to check personal calendars and then workcalendars and cross reference this item with that
meeting and that commitment. Oh,genuine exploration, especially for new parents like
(04:18):
us, which we happen to knowa lot of new parents, and congratulations
to a special couple that we knowthat just had one. It's sort of
out of the window just really foreverybody. And we got back to that
this week, which I love.It was refreshing. What's funniest I think
(04:42):
about that like it being a lostart of just being able to be like,
you know what, no plans, nothing, and then actually going and
finding plans that you love that genuinelymake me you happy. I think what's
funny about that is we all knowsomeone who has never lost that. Someone
you know that you could probably identifyright now in this very moment is so
just full on life. Is justa full on explorer, someone who finds
(05:09):
every way to make themselves happy.Every choice they make is just rooted in
this experiential love for their life. And I mean a person who can do
it in any situation. I'm notjust saying that they have all the money
in the world and they can jetset here or there, or they have
(05:30):
you know the means. Obviously thosepeople exist, but I'm just saying that
they're able to do something of substanceno matter how much money they have in
their pocket. Something to make themhappy. I mean the person that rolls
out of bed and is determined goalnumber one is to be as happy as
they can be, and that theychoose yes as the only option for that
(05:55):
happiness. Person that comes to mindfor me, I think about my neighbor
two houses down. You could justtell that that brother doesn't skip a day
without finding the simplest things to makehim happy. I've told him on a
number of occasions that I want tobe him when I grow up. Be
(06:15):
and I are out with our sonthis weekend. We had just parked the
car, beautiful weather. We're justgonna go downtown and make shit happen.
So we're walking and behind us wehear music, classic R and B.
Not too loud, not too soft. Obviously you can make out the music,
but it's not so crazy that it'san annoying thing for everybody around.
(06:38):
Just at the right volume. Andit instantly caught my ear for three reasons.
Obviously, I love the song thatwas playing, classic R and B.
Type of guy, that's who Iam. It's clearly coming from a
car. And see, my neighborcomes home every afternoon, Jim, and
just like that, Lo and behold, ronic and I both turn around and
(07:02):
there he is, tank top bucket, hat top down. We must have
seen him at the exact time thathe saw us, because he pulled over
for just a minute, quick waveand hello, and he says, good
to see y'all out, Good tosee y'all out. Let me see what
(07:23):
he said. He said, goodto see y'all out, and about as
a family. I think he saidy'all go have fun, something to that
effect, and then he sped off. Now, I'm sure it helps that
he drives a very very very nicecar so coop top down. I'm sure
that helps, yes, But thatenergy I don't think would change if he
(07:45):
drove a hooptie, if he drovea nineteen ninety six g O with a
donut on that Mutt, I don'tthink it would change his energy. I
think he's just a happy person.So this week, I hope that you've
spend some time doing something that youtruly, actually, undisputedly loved, something
that makes you happy, whether it'ssomething that costs you a little bit money,
(08:09):
whether it's free, whether you didit alone, whether you did it
with your people, whether it's greatfor your health, whether you smoke a
cigar like I did, and it'snot so great for your health. Whether
you're gonna have to double up onthe cardio on Monday to make it work
and make it make sense, whatever, I hope you did it, and
if you did not, well,I just I feel like you should know
(08:33):
that there are people around you thatare doing that thing and that they don't
feel an ounce of guilt for livingtheir life and skipping out on an obligation
to do it, and frankly youshouldn't either. Much love to the creators,
no matter your flavor, May Godforever be in our favor. You
know who it is. My nameis David Thomas, David Gerard Thomas,
(08:56):
also known as the One and onlyBig Broccolini. Cheers everybody, Buddie,
love y'all, thanks for listening,
