Speaker 2 (02:11):
Thank you for having
me on this morning.
I'm very grateful to be here.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Absolutely.
It is my pleasure and I am justreally excited for just good
conversation.
I feel like whenever we talkabout the goodness of God, we
can't go wrong.
Right, Right, right, Absolutely.
(02:38):
Well, I'm so intrigued to hearmore about your story Before we
do.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
I understand that you
recently released a book yes,
it's Overcomer by JacquelineWilliams, and it's available on
Amazon.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Oh okay.
So all right, we're just goingto dive right into it because
I'm like Overcomer.
There's already stories thatmean are wept into that.
So tell us about Overcomer, like what inspired you to write?
Write it, where did this comefrom?
Speaker 2 (03:04):
well, I, um, I had no
attentionally uh, of an idea of
right, even writing a book.
What came about is my typingteacher.
Um, god had brought her backinto my life for, you know, only
a season.
And so she called me one dayand she said you know, jackie,
(03:26):
you ought to put your life storyin a book.
And I was like me, I'm likethat was way out of my head, but
I didn't tell her that I justsaid, yes, ma'am.
and so when I got off the phonewith her after that, all I was
hearing in my spirit was write abook, write a book, book, write
a book.
And I'm like God, I don't knowhow to write a book, but I had
(03:49):
to finally change my mindset andmy words, because our words,
you know, speak either life ordeath.
So I had to grab a scripturefrom his words saying I can do
all things through Christ, whichstrengthens me.
So, uh, god, after I said that, god and the Holy Ghost came in
(04:13):
and helped me, you know, to putthis book together.
He would give me, you know, even at night time, he would
give me things to put in thebook and he would give me
information you know that Icould get that's available on
the Internet about the drug andeverything, oh, and everything
(04:34):
to put in everything.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
He just put it
together and helped me format so
tell me, like, as the holyspirit inspired this, and help
you put together this format forthis book, what can people kind
of expect in hearing from yourstory I mean without moving us
to all the details, of course, like I'm interested in overcomer
(04:57):
, like what type of things canthey expect?
Speaker 2 (05:02):
one thing, a couple
things they can expect.
One thing is when they read thebook, they will see, uh, how
god displayed his power in mylife when the enemy tried to
take my life, how god prevailedover him, uh and uh protected me
through all the obstacles andchallenges that I went through
(05:25):
in my life.
So they will absolutely seethat, and also they will.
They will see that, you know,it wasn't me in my own strength
that overcame these obstaclesand challenges, but it was, uh,
(05:47):
god's strength that gave thatgave me strength.
I went through and and wasovercome because of his strength
and not my own strength.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yes, yes, I love that
absolutely.
I mean, I think so many times, like we know that just in our
human nature, right, we seesomething and we're like, oh, I
could do this.
So we try and do it on our own.
And I'm often reminded how thescripture says to pray about all
things right, take all thingsto him, so that, truly, like,
the Holy Spirit can lead us, toguide us, give us direction, and
(06:18):
that we can have the strengthof the Lord behind us.
I mean, we know the joy of theLord is our strength, and so I
love that aspect because I too,y'all you guys know I'm very
real and transparent with you.
There are so many times wherethis young lady thinks that
she's in control and I'm stilllearning.
You would think I had learnedthe lesson, but I have not.
(06:41):
Y'all I still find myselfsaying, oh yeah, I'm not in
control.
Did I go before the father?
Did I bring him into thecircumstance?
Am I leaning on his strengthand not my own?
And so I love how they can getthat from your book, just the
inspiration of how, when theLord carries us through.
So I'm imagining, like when youwrite a book.
(07:04):
I know many times when I amwriting a piece.
In my aspect of writing, I'malready considering the reader
and I have a certain way that Iwant them to experience the book
or come into the book.
And so let me just ask you, like, what do you want people to
experience when they're readingyour book?
Speaker 2 (07:27):
I want them to
experience that they can
overcome, they can be theirovercomer, and and and not to
fear, you know, because that'swhat the enemy brings in fear.
But God said he will always bewith us, no matter what we go
(07:49):
through, no matter what we face.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
And I want them to
experience to, to lean in in his
peace and his rest and hisstrength and allow him to lead
and and and take over their life, to bring order in their life,
that they can be their overcomerI mean just thinking that alone
(08:13):
, like when I think about fear,um, the first thing that comes
to mind is just perfect love, cast out fear and we allow God
to love us first and we don'tseek for validation in other
spaces that we can have thatfear be cast out because we're
(08:33):
driving from a place of his love.
Uh, how?
And as I'm thinking of that,I'm just curious, like how have
you experienced his love thatcarried you through and casting
out that fear through yourexperience?
Speaker 2 (08:49):
well, I grew up
without my parents and when I
say without my parents, I grewup without them in my life so
because my mom, she didn't wantme, and my dad, he took me in
but he was very abusive.
So I I had to grow up in in myimmediate family, you know, like
(09:13):
my aunties and uncles.
I never had them in my life.
So I had to really grow upreally fast, oh, as far as that
is concerned, and I wanted toexperience that love, you know.
So I began to, with all thehurt and the abuse and all the
(09:33):
hospital things I went throughconcerning my health.
I had to come to the crossroadto make the decision that I had
to bury my past.
I had to have a frown, so tospeak, with my past and I was so
(09:54):
hurt that I said I was going toblock all of this out.
And just, I had bleeding woundsand a hurt heart that I said
I'm just going to put a bandageon it and so to speak, and just
jump into these relationshipsthinking it was going to be
better, it's going to heal andeverything.
But it got worse because all ofthe abuse patterns fell into
(10:18):
those relationships.
You know, guys, that I dated.
They would abuse me, if notphysically, mentally and you
know people that said they wasmy friends.
You know they took advantage ofme or manipulation or rejection
.
I went through all of that butthe case was that I didn't blame
(10:41):
them.
What I did I told God.
I said God, I don't blameanybody, I'm not pointing a
finger.
Deliver me, lord.
You know I need inner healing.
You know, sometimes you knowGod will remove you from the
situation, he'll remove you fromthe people and he'll remove you
(11:05):
from yourself.
But you still have thoseinjuries.
After he delivered me from thesituation and the people, I
still had the injury.
I survived it, but I was stillhurt and I needed him to deliver
me and to heal me.
(11:27):
That internal healing healthose wounds, heal the heart,
change me.
Just make I told him, just do awhole new makeover in me.
You know, make me brand new.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Yes, you know I think
about you know in Philippians.
Yes, you know I think about youknow, philippians.
I mean, I remember thisscripture from a child and
almost holding on to it, noteven recognizing what I was
holding on to, but wherePhilippians 3, I believe it's 14
, says forgetting all thosethings behind me and pressing
(12:01):
forward towards the mark.
And so I think about how evenour brains, how our body works.
We have these implicit memoriesthat we don't even consciously
always remember.
But the way, the beautiful wayGod actually designed our bodies
is that they hold on to thesememories and that often, if we
don't take time to sit with theLord, ask him you know when
(12:24):
we're responding to things hey, where is this coming from?
Why am I feeling bitter aboutthis?
Why am I feeling jealous?
Why am I feeling hurt aboutthis?
Lord, show me where this iscoming from and then help me
walk through healing in it.
Right?
You know I am a firm believerthat therapy and theology go
hand in hand.
Our listeners know this.
(12:46):
I believe that there is nocoincidence in how God shaped
our physical body, our mentalaspect, our emotional aspect and
our spiritual.
There's a reason why there isall four components, and so I'm
curious to ask you throughoutyour healing process, what
resources, what tools did youfind yourself uh, I want to say
(13:07):
tapping into, in addition to, ofcourse, sitting with the lord
and letting him lead the way foryour healing?
Speaker 2 (13:15):
well, after he um,
there came, there was in my life
and it still is a lot ofisolation.
I had a whole lot of isolationand during those times of
isolation it was just me and theLord.
(13:37):
He just wanted me and him so hecould take out things out of us
.
It's almost like a computer.
Sometimes you have to reprogramthe computer.
So God has to reprogram us awhole lot.
(13:59):
He has to tune us up.
He has to reset us.
He has to tune us up.
He has to reset us.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
So that was mostly my
time alone, in isolation with
him, allowing him to justreprogram me.
Yes, yes, I love that.
I love it, if you look at oursociety today and Lord knows we
have a lot going on.
But if we look at society today, if you had to just pinpoint,
like, what would you say is oneof your biggest, what are the
biggest challenges you seeamongst society?
Speaker 2 (14:38):
The biggest challenge
I see is not people, not, their
eyes are not open.
That not.
The eyes are not openspiritually.
That's what I'm saying here.
They're more focused on thenatural, this natural realm here
(15:02):
.
And when we are so focused onthe natural realm, then we can't
see what God is doing, becausehe says in his word, in Isaiah
43 and 19, that he's doing a newthing.
And if you don't see the newthing God is doing, then you're
going to be left behind doingthe same old things that you did
(15:23):
You're going to still be inyour own way, as you were 20 or
10 years ago.
When god is doing somethingelse, he's doing something new
within us and he's doingsomething else within this earth
and in this nation yes, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
You know, it makes me
, uh, think about the scripture
in Colossians, and Lord knowsour listeners, though I probably
say it every episode like y'all, I will start quoting scripture
and I have to be like, wait, wait, wait, let me give you the
location.
So Colossians 3 and 1, if, then, you've been raised to Christ,
(16:04):
seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the
right hand of God.
And so, even when I just thinkabout that scripture, I mean we
have direct instruction to seekthe things that are above, seek
those heavenly things, look atthings from a spiritual eye,
look at the aspect of what'shappening in the spirit realm,
(16:26):
because we know that what'shappening in the spirit is what
we're seeing here, right?
I always say, you know, we knowscripture says that we don't
fight flesh and blood, right, but it's spiritual warfare.
And so when we try and do thisthing called life here on earth,
here in this world, and notdoing the spirit thing, we're
(16:48):
actually doing second thingsfirst versus first things first.
And so, you know, when I thinkabout Paul's writing in
Colossians, when he wrote thathe tells us to see things above,
meaning pursue those things, and I'm going to break it down
for our listeners, like pursuethose things that are spiritual
(17:08):
growth, those virtues, thosevalues that align with God's
kingdom.
This, you know, when we talkabout Christ's teachings, the
humility, the love, therighteousness, like when we look
at the things happening amongstthe world today, we can find
where there's a lack ofspiritual focus, where there's
not a heavenly perspective, where we're focused more on the
flesh.
Which description did tell usthat this is where things will
(17:31):
go right, where men becomelovers of themselves.
And so, as we have listeners andviewers here, I would implore
you to really dive into that andevaluate, like, do you run to
the spirit realm first or do yousit with what you see?
We know that we're to look atthe things that we don't see
right, the unseeing things.
(17:51):
And even as a mom and I'm sureyou know you can relate like
there were times that things arehappening with my children and
I'm looking at it physically,but I know I'm like this is a
spiritual thing.
I need to go to war in thespirit for my kid, I need to be
interceding, I need to cast offanything that's trying to attack
(18:14):
them.
I need to pull my scripturesout and remind the enemy of the
God that I serve and who mychild is, and so it's a
spiritual thing and I absolutelyagree, Like that's one of the
things that I think, even fromjust the.
I mean of the things that Ithink, even from just the.
I mean, yeah, I date myself, so40 years old, I think even what
(18:40):
was happening even in churches30 years ago yes, that church
was perfect.
There was many things thatmaybe were lacking.
We wasn't talking aboutemotional health, we wasn't
talking about mental health, butI will say we were up at 6 am
for intercessory prayer, we weredoing overnight watch services
and praying and worrying, and sothat is a perspective that is
missing in the sense, I wouldthink, of our world.
We're so microwave sense nowright.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Yeah, and technology.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Oh yes.
Absolutely, absolutely.
I say all the time like I havethis love-hate relationship.
You know, with technology ithas its good purposes, but yet
it can pull you in so easily, right?
Speaker 3 (19:19):
Hey, let's take a
quick break.
Consider this paradox.
We live in an age of medicalbreakthroughs.
Advanced treatments, therapies, drugs and technologies improve
the science of medicine everyyear.
However, the prevalence ofheart disease is up nearly 10%
since 1999.
(19:40):
The prevalence of cancer is upnearly 20% since 1999.
And diabetes up 35% since 1999,is a gateway to other diseases.
Unless we reverse this trend, experts predict that, for the
first time in history, one inthree children born today may
live shorter lives than theirparents.
(20:04):
So why aren't we healthier?
It's largely because we'reoverfed and undernourished.
Take a few seconds to thinkabout it.
We often choose convenienceover our health.
Fast food sales have increased2,000% since 1981.
Eating fast food more thantwice a week is associated with
(20:26):
an increased risk for diabetes.
Even so-called healthy foodsare full of artificial
ingredients and fat.
Only two percent of us get ourdaily recommended servings of
fruits and vegetables, andstudies show that produce is not
as nutritious as it used to be.
Poor nutritional habits arebecoming a national epidemic.
(20:47):
But you are in control.
Countless studies show thatnutritional supplementation can
positively affect your health.
With proper nutrition and ahealthy lifestyle, 80% of all
heart disease in women ispreventable.
60% of all cancer-relateddeaths could be prevented.
(21:07):
90% of all type 2 diabetes ispreventable.
Proper nutrition andsupplementation are critical.
Give your body the nutrients itneeds.
Invest in your health today.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
When you think about
how you had to forget those
things that were behind youright, and really like bury the
past.
How would you suggest someonewho is looking to say, like I
have a past that I'm trying toleave behind, I'm trying to bury
it, like?
What tips would you give them?
Speaker 2 (22:03):
I would tell them to
give it to God.
And when I say give it to God,and when I say give it to God
because I used to go, I wentwhen I was in my situation I
went to people that werespiritual and I asked them and I
talked about it to them andthey said give it to God.
(22:25):
And I was like, well, how doyou give this to God?
And a lot of people don't knowhow to give it to God.
And I was like, well, how doyou give this to God?
And a lot of people don't knowhow to give it to God.
And and one of the ways is togive it to God you begin to let
it go and say, god, I give it toyou.
I can't handle this situation,I can't fix it, I can't do
(22:45):
anything about it or with it.
So I put it in your hand.
And when you put it in his handsee, sometimes we so easily put
it in his hands and then we takeit back.
You know it's just a back andforth.
You know going on a tug of warhere with that.
But once you release it, see,if you keep holding on to it,
(23:08):
then it's saying that you don'ttrust God.
You know, and when you keepholding on to it, it's bringing
more anxiety into you.
It's bringing all those thingsyou know that's not of God in
you.
You know anger, whatever thecase is hurt, you know it's
(23:30):
hurting you more as far asholding it when you and you
can't do anything with it.
But when you release it, youknow you feel that burden lift
up off of you and you becomelighter.
So you have to have, so youhave to have, you have to keep a
(23:55):
relationship and and and andstay in communication with God
and and just talk to him.
I talk to him just like I'mtalking to you.
I just talk to him.
He just wants us to talk to him.
He's our father.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Yes, he wants us to
come to him about anything, even
though he already know yes, Imean, I just think about
relationships, right, like Idon't necessarily just get up in
the morning and say, okay, I'mgonna talk to my kid for 15
minutes and then I'm not gonnaspeak to you again until I lay
down at night and say good nightto you.
(24:26):
Like, no, we are consistentlycommunicating.
When things are happeningthroughout the day, I'm like,
hey, guys, guess what, when I'meven having challenges, I think
about my husband and I, right, like, I will have that
conversation of like, hey, can Italk to you?
Hey, this is what's going on,even if it's just me offloading
right, just me offloading right, which, if I'm offloading, you
(24:52):
have to offload, right, you know.
I think of when we, if someonecomes and says, you know, or we
decide to give right, there'sbeen times where I've decided to
give financial funds.
Once you release it, I can't bein control of like, okay, I
released this to you, but listen, I want you to spend $5 here
and do $10 here and do thisdollars here.
No, if I am giving it to them,I am releasing it, and I'm
(25:16):
releasing that aspect that I canstill control that dollar that
I gave.
And in that sense, we have tolearn to release things to God
and not to try and step backinto control, because
essentially it's very much likeyou said of it's a saying we
(25:36):
don't trust that you can do thisas good as we can, when the
reality is, lord knows that hecan do it way better.
I think about the song likeFrank Forrest has, your way is
better.
So so, so true.
And, as I stated from the verybeginning, not knowing we're
going to touch this, that is athing that I, even daily, have
(26:00):
to make a choice and remindmyself.
God, you are in control, I givethis to you, I am your vessel.
I don't want to carry thisburden because it wasn't meant
(26:23):
for me to carry, and so let merelease it to you and trust that
easiest thing or it should bethe easiest things to do.
But that's why the Bible tellsus to renew our minds Right.
That's why we're told to castthose imaginative thoughts down,
because the enemy will love, like once we give it away, to
(26:45):
try and come back in.
That's a method that he uses tocome back in and say, oh, this
is not being handled right, oroh, you need to step back into
this.
You gave it away, you forgavesomebody, and then they come
back in the picture.
Oh, that's, you shouldn't haveforgave.
You need to take this back onversus what you already released
to the Lord.
(27:06):
And so I just want to encourageour listeners, as we even
discussed this, like, considerthe things.
Like I sit with the Lord dailyand say, hey, like David said,
create in me a clean heart, arenewed mind.
Like, what do I need to releaseto you, lord?
That's not meant for me to holdon to, because, to your like,
(27:31):
it affects us.
Like you said, anxiety, I mean,it affects us health-wise,
right, our, our bodies respondto the very thing that's inside
of us.
Um, I'm looking at the time.
As always, I'm like gosh, wejust get to talking and the time
gets to fly.
Um, I say it, our listeners areprobably like Nicole, you say
that every episode.
But truly, y'all, I'm trying totell you like the time gets
(27:54):
fine when we're just talkingabout what God's done for us and
in our lives.
And so, before we go, before weclose out, you know, jacqueline
, I want to ask you how wouldyou say you know the value of
your words?
And to our listeners that maybeare struggling with self-worth
(28:15):
or identity, like, how would yousay that you learned the value
of your words.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
I had an identity
crisis as I was going through my
journey of all that of my pastand I had to come to know who I
was and who I belonged to.
So I had to know my identity inChrist.
(28:45):
And there's so many people outthere that don't know their true
identity.
They don't know their truepurpose, they don't know their
true call, they don't know theirtrue uh worth in in themselves,
and and, and I had to find that, and and God brought me to this
lady that was online and shebecame my spiritual mother and
(29:08):
God.
The gifts that she had becauseeverybody has a key to
somebody's deliverance and shehad the key to my deliverance
and she helped me, through thegifts that God given her, to
find my true identity in him.
(29:28):
And once we find our trueidentity, then we have the
confidence in ourselves and inhim, knowing that he loves us
and that he and we are a true asthe Bible says, we are a royal
priesthood.
And see, you have to getscriptures that pertains to your
(29:55):
situation and you have to getit in you so, when the enemy
comes at you, you won't fallcompletely to be destroyed.
You can get back up.
You won't be destroyed if youdon't fall completely to be
destroyed, you can get back up,you won't be destroyed If you
don't have the word of God inyou and then if you don't know
the power that lies within you.
There's so many people thatit's not you and even the church
(30:17):
.
They're not using the power.
I went through a situation onetime and God said well, you got
the power, I gave it to you.
What you going to do with it?
It's time to use the power andif we sit on the power, that
gives the enemy to come in andjust knock us any kind of way.
(30:39):
If you're not fighting backwith the power, he can just do
anything he wants with you.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Yes, yes, that's so
true.
So, so, so true.
I mean, as you were talkingabout power, I'm thinking about
even how the it was so importantto have the Holy Spirit power
that Jesus, when he ascended, hegave them instructions to wait.
(31:08):
Don't just go do what Iinstructed you to do, don't just
go start spreading the gospel, wait until the Holy Spirit falls
upon you.
And so that's just howimportant it was.
These are the people thatwalked side by side with Jesus
and were given instruction towait until that Holy Spirit, our
fellow Barnum.
And so I absolutely understandand agree where you're saying we
(31:31):
sometimes, again in ourhumanity, think that we have the
answers, think that we canintellectually just figure this
thing out right.
Even in churches sometimes itcan become so program oriented,
so intellectually driven, thatwe forget that this drive should
(31:53):
be Holy Spirit inspired, holySpirit power ignited right and
in our lives.
Absolutely, that is where thepower that we draw from, right
as we talk about identity inChrist.
Again, I'm always mindful of ourlisteners.
We don't know who may be onhere and if you are a Gracefield
(32:14):
Community listener and youhaven't had a chance to connect
with me, I am a very relationalperson and so I would love.
I invite you to just shoot anemail to grow at gracefield
communitycom, but I do want togive you some key points on
identity, because invite you tojust shoot an email to grow at
gracefieldcommunitycom, but I dowant to give you some key
points on identity, because ifyou're listening and you're like
, hey, identity is somethingthat I'm struggling with.
Number one if you have thescripture says that if you
(32:37):
believe in your heart and youconfess with your mouth Jesus
Christ is Lord and savior and hedied and rose up on the third
day, that you can and will besaved.
And so number one is, if you'rea child of God, you are a
believer adopted into God'sfamily.
So I would encourage you tolook at John 1 and 12, but all
who received him, who believe inhis name, he gave the right to
(33:02):
become children of God.
Second thing of your identityis that you're a new creation.
We're putting those thingsbehind us In Christ.
2 Corinthians 5, 17,.
Therefore, if anyone is inChrist, he is a new creation.
The old has passed away.
Behold, the new has come.
Third thing I want to tell youis that you are chosen and loved
(33:22):
Ephesians 1 and 4, for he choseus.
When I say us, that's you andme.
He chose us Knowing all Ialways like to say, knowing all
the dirt, all the times.
I'll betray him, all the timesthat I would not be obedient to
him.
He didn't choose me because ofmy works.
He chose me before I was evereven formed.
(33:43):
And he chose you and he lovesyou.
Number four you are forgiven andyou are redeemed.
Don't let anyone tell youdifferent.
If you are in Christ, you areforgiven.
Ephesians 1 and 7 says in himwe have redemption through his
blood.
Y'all who gave up his blood foryou, the forgiveness of sins in
accordance to the riches ofGod's grace.
(34:06):
And the last thing is secureand victorious.
As we're talking about overcomery'all Romans 8 and 37, know in
all these things we are morethan conquerors.
Through him who loved us, youridentity y'all is secure.
You have victory over sin anddeath.
Know whose you are and you're achild of God.
(34:30):
So I encourage you, if you arelistening to this and you're
like, hey, identity is, yes, athing.
Overcoming is, yes, somethingthat I need.
Plug into those scriptures Iknow I kind of rolled through
them Y'all rewind, press that10-second button, go back, write
it down.
Do press that 10 second button,go back, write it down, do what
you need to do to see what theLord says about you.
(34:50):
You are written all throughoutthat book because he loved you
and he had you in mind from thevery beginning.

in to today's episode of
Graceville Community Podcast.
We would like to invite you tovisit gracevillecommunitycom.
Graceville Community is allabout doing church the way
Church of Acts did, using fivemain principles that we see in
the book of Acts Sharingresources, as believers pooled
(37:59):
their possessions and resourcesto support those in need, as we
see in Acts 2.44.
Through hospitality the earlyChristians practice hospitality
by opening their homes to others, as we see in Acts 2 and 46.
By financial aid the church inAntioch sent financial aid to
(38:22):
believers in Judea during a timeof famine, as described in Acts
11 and 29.
Prayer and encouragement theysupported each other through
prayer and encouragement, as wesee in Acts 4 and 24.
And finally, spiritual guidancethe apostles and elders
(38:43):
provided spiritual guidance andteaching to help strengthen and
build the community, as we seein Acts 15 30.
I would like to encourage you.
If any of those areas are areasin which you are in need or can
contribute, please reach out toGraceville Community.
We are working together acrossthe world with ministries and
(39:07):
individuals alike to help bringback the Church of Acts.
