Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to
the People.
Station on GreatDayRadiocom.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hey everyone, welcome
to Great Day Radio's
motivational podcast.
For this episode we are goingto be discussing Thinking Big
the mindset for extraordinarysuccess.
I'm DJ Mikey D, and with me isthe incredible DJ D Marie in the
house.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Thanks for having me,
Mikey.
I'm excited to dive into thistopic.
Thinking Big is literally how Iwent from bedroom DJ to leading
discussions on relationships.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
That's exactly what
we're talking about today.
So many people get stuck insmall thinking, setting safe,
achievable goals, but you, dj D,you're the epitome of thinking
big.
How did that mindset shifthappen for you?
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Honestly, it started
when I stopped asking can I do
this?
And started asking why not me?
Like someone's got a headlineCoachella, why not me?
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Love that energy and
look at you now, living proof.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Exactly.
But here's the thing Bigthinking isn't just about
confidence, it's about strategy.
I treated my career like a BHAG, a Big, hairy Audacious Goal,
before I even knew what thatterm meant.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
For our listeners who
might not know, bhags come from
Jim Collins' book Built to Last.
They're those 10 to 30-yearmoonshot goals that seem crazy
at first, like, say, going frombedroom DJ to hanging out with
the likes of the late OzzyOsbourne.
Now that's cool.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Bingo.
By the way, I listened to thatout with the likes of the late
Ozzy Osbourne.
Now that's cool Bingo.
By the way, I listened to thatpodcast about the late great
Ozzy tribute that is lit.
So here's the wild part.
Once I committed to that BHAG,the small obstacles stopped
mattering.
A bad gig, just a step.
Haters, background noise, thegoal was so big it made the
bumps feel tiny.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
That's the resilience
piece.
Right there, research shows bigthinkers bounce back faster
because the vision outweighs thesetbacks.
But let's get real.
How do you handle the fear, thewhat if I fail?
Voice?
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Oh man, I still get
that voice.
But now I talk back.
What if you don't try?
That fear is way scarier.
Plus, failure is just data.
My first radio gig flopped, butit taught me how to convey my
messages with much moreconfidence.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Turning failure into
fuel.
That's the growth mindset inaction 100%.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
And here's a pro tip
Visualize the process, not just
the outcome.
I didn't just see myself on aradio station, I saw the daily
grind to get there.
That's how you make bigthinking actionable.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
That's a mic drop
moment right there.
So for our listeners ready tothink bigger, what is your first
step?
Speaker 3 (02:30):
challenge Ask
yourself what's my version of
leading my first radio show.
Then and this is key say it outloud, speak it into existence.
I told everyone I'd be on airbefore I reached 20 years old.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Accountability meets
audacity.
Dj D, you're a force.
Any final words for the bigthinkers tuning in?
Speaker 3 (02:50):
The world's already
full of small ideas.
Be the one who dreams loud, andMikey.
Next time let's get on the bigpodcast shows like iHeartRadio.

Motivational Talk podcast for
this positive spin episode.
I'm DJ Mikey D and with me isthe amazing DJ DeMarie once
again, hey, mikey, so excited tobe here for this episode.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
We've got a really
important topic to dive into,
don't we?
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Absolutely, dj D.
Today we're talking about hownegative thinking can seriously
affect our mental and physicalhealth.
It's something a lot of usstruggle with right.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Oh, for sure, I mean.
We've all been there, stuck inthat loop of negative thoughts
that just drag us down.
But the good news is we canshift that mindset.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Exactly.
Research shows that movingtoward positivity can boost
happiness, resilience andoverall well-being.
But how do we actually do that?
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Well, one powerful
technique is mindfulness.
It's all about being presentand aware of our thoughts
without judging them.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Mindfulness is huge.
And then there's cognitiverestructuring fancy term for
challenging and changing thosenegative thoughts.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Right, like when you
catch yourself thinking I'm
terrible at this.
You pause and ask is thatreally true?
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Bingo and another
game changer.
Gratitude practice Taking timeeach day to acknowledge what
you're thankful for can rewireyour brain for optimism.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
I love that Even
small things like a good cup of
coffee or a sunny day can shiftyour perspective.
Like a good cup of coffee or asunny day can shift your
perspective.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Totally.
And let's not forgetaffirmations Repeating positive
statements about yourself canbuild self-esteem over time.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Yes, but here's the
thing it's not an overnight fix,
it's a gradual process, right?
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Absolutely.
Consistency is key.
You've got to put in the effort, but the payoff is huge.
Better emotional healthstronger relationships and just
a more fulfilling life.
So true, and it's not aboutignoring the negative stuff,
it's about balancing it withconstructive thoughts.
(06:57):
Exactly.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
It's like spinning a
record You've got to find the
right groove to keep the musicflowing smoothly.
Love that analogy, Mikey.
