you can find. So kick backwith your bacon and eggs and pour yourself

here fighting pills and take you aroundthe league right now on Baseball Brunch Playball.

(00:32):
Good morning, Philadelphia, and welcomein for bud Light Baseball Brunch brought
to you by Cheerleaders Gentlemen's Club, powered by Green Leager Radio and on one
or two point five Fox forcing himof Philadelphia w dasam around the rest of
the Delaware Valley. We're simply downloadthat iHeartRadio app and you can join us
and listen to us anywhere Crystal Clearworldwide. I'm Chris Sack Mgreen Legion Radio

(00:53):
on broadcasting to you live from VicfinityLive and a very sloppy and wet South
phil Philadelphia rails out of CIS's BankPark today hoping to get in today's final
game finale here at Citissons Bank Park. Between you're fighting Philadelphia Phillies and the
San Diego Padres and um you know, all these years that we've been doing
this show together, I didn't quiteknow that I was doing the show with
the wicked Witch of the West orsomebody that doesn't know how to invest in

(01:17):
an umbrella. Phillies broadcaster Greg Murphy. Murph, how are we doing this
morning in a torrential downpour? Here'sPhilly. So I'm joining you remotely today
and thank my hair is very thankfulfor that. Oh yeah, good work
by everybody able to kind of getthis all tied together. I appreciate it.

(01:38):
Yeah, no problem at all, man, I listen. If anything,
I picked the wrong day out ofthe whole entire season to wear a
white T shirt. Um, youknow, I know, I've I've slimmed
down a lot over the last fewweeks with the Peloton workouts, and I
finally had the guts to wear mynew wet Bandits T shirt with Marsh and
uh and and stadium. And Iwas getting into the car this morning,
I was like, I really shouldtry maybe change over into a red shirt

(02:00):
because this is a bad idea.What T shirt contact? I don't know
what the uh the immediate future holdsfor baseball here in South Philly. I
mean it does appear that the rain'sgonna stop later this afternoon, so perhaps
they'll keep us here and we'll playlater this afternoon before o'clock or something like

(02:22):
that. I mean, I haveno inside knowledge at this moment, but
I don't see a way that thisparticular game starts on time today, and
uh, that is unfortunate for everyoneinvolved. Partner. The thing is is,
uh, you know, both teamshad the day off tomorrow. Um,
ideally they want to get the gamein today. I'm sure everybody wants
to enjoy their day off on Monday, and and the you know, the

(02:44):
Padres don't want to fly out tomorrowafternoon tomorrow and night to head back.
I don't know where they're going fromhere. And maybe they're going home back
to San Diego, but that's notwhere they're going from here. They're going
to Toronto. So it's an easyflight for him. Yeah, okay,
so it's an easy flight for him. But even then, like like we've
talked about, you know, likethose Sunday games where the Phillies have off
on Monday, you would you know, say, hey, listen, we're

(03:04):
flying out today just we're gonna geta full day off wherever we're going.
I think that's ideal what the Padresare looking for on their end of things.
And also at the same time, like even though with the new balance
schedule that they're probably gonna be backon the East Coast another time or two
by the end of the season, but to fly in the Philadelphia to try
and fit in a game and thenfly back out, they're gonna do everything
that they can to try and fitthis game in today. Yeah, I

(03:25):
would think they probably will. Butif they decide that it's just not going
to be uh, it's not gonnabe feasible today. Hopefully they make a
decision early, send everybody home. The off day happens today, we come
back and play baseball tomorrow. Sothat's kind of the two scenarios. If
I had to bet, I wouldthink we'll probably try and play today.

(03:47):
Yeah, but you know, rightnow it would not be feasible here to
suspect part Yeah, not with howit looks right now. But this first

if I did not. You knowspeak you know about our family dog who

(04:54):
we put the rest this past Thursday, Sebastian, love you to death,
buddy, You're gonna be great onthe other side. But I'm not gonna
say that you're in a better place, because the best place for you it's
with us in our family and mysister rest in peace. Body love you
to death, all right, Solet's give away a pair of tickets today,
now, Murph. I went toa concert the other night. It
was the first time in seven yearsthat um, you know, my my

(05:16):
childhood band, uh card was backtogether touring and uh, you know,
it takes me back to those ridesman, like you know when when you're
going to and from your school andyou had the CD playing in there.
You know, some people it's acassette tape, uh you know, transistor
radio. As for others, Uh, you know. So I wanted to
dive down deep, you know, into a little bit of a deep path

(05:38):
here, Murph, with you, because you know, obviously there's a little
bit of an age difference, notmuch, but you know, I think
you're closer to my dad's age andyou are my hair full but uh,
you know, I kind of wantto take you back to the eighties when
you you know, you're cruising aroundand probably your camaro, uh you know,
you got this slick, you know, back hair and a lot of

(05:58):
good stuff going on. What waslike your go to song like that?
That just like when you hear iton the radio, it always takes you
back to a place in time inlife. Right. Uh yeah, I
know you got a top five forme, But what's one of the five
that takes you back to that timein your life? Oh? Yeah,
I got it. I got amillion for you, quite honest with you.
But but I've narrowed it down tofive five. And for the record,

(06:21):
uh no Camaro. Uh the Murphyfamily did not give cars to the
kids. I shared a car withmy mom. The first new car I
got what it was when I gotmarried. So for the record, I
never had a car until I gotmarried at my own. Now what now,
what car did you share with yourmom? Was a minivan? No,
it was like a little white Corollahatchback. It was. I did

(06:45):
not have any street kip cred whatsoever. Bad. Look, It's amazing I
got to where I've got to becauseit was it was bad. I was.
I struggled with the coolness factor andhigh school. So uh well,
anyway, all right, so yeah, I do have a bunch. I

(07:05):
mean, I love music and andso many songs you know, bring you
back to particular times in your life. So, uh, you know you
have to know how old I am. I guess if you're going to try
and pick one on my list,um so, but I'm not going to
give any hints out there. However, I'll give you my first one because
the first one that popped into mymind kind of an obscure song, but
every time I hear it, andI do hear it because I listen back

(07:27):
to those kinds of stations all thetime. Um, in Excess was just
kind of like burst onto the sceneat that time when I was in high
school. So I Need You Tonightby in Excess, Uh, is one
of those songs that I just loved. We'd sing it at the tough for
our lungs in the in the hatchbackCorolla and uh, you know me and
my my buddies. So h soin Excess Needs You Tonight one of the

(07:50):
songs on my Little Yeah Pretty.I think it's pretty simple for me.
I mean I already alluded to theband for me, and you know,
I look back to like my senioryear, going into my senior soccer season.
We're cruising around. We're playing Mattin two thousand and four and the
song the big hit that put themon the map off of Ocean Avenue album
was way Away, you know, just a just a great song, you

(08:11):
know, like we log on,we played Matt and all the time.
It was definitely a big time hitfrom me before, before and after a
soccer game, getting myself hyped upso way away from me. Maybe maybe
we have it on the board thereat I Heart Radio we could play as
a rejoinder because that's it's definitely definitelyslaps. It definitely hits. But make
sure you guys go to our socialmedia platforms to check that out. Get

(08:31):
yourselves involved, especially on Twitter atGreen Legion, or you can go to
our Green Legion Facebook live page,or it's the one or two point five
Fox Sports to Gambler Slash is wherewe're doing stream yard today, So make
sure you guys go over there andget your answers in for two tickets for
Phillies Marlins on Saturday, July ninthat six oh five. And the guy
that's sitting right next to me,I'll make sure to gate Hayes. Once
we start out the second segment myseat filler today is the unhappy Gilmour who's

(08:54):
joining us from Ohio. Looking forwardto getting some content out of him today.
It's gonna be a good time.So I appreciate you joining me,
buddy. Yeah, happy to behere, brother. It's gonna be a
good time, all right. Cool, So let's talk some Phillies and then
we're gonna talk with you at secondsegment, right all right, So murvu
since the last time we reconvene, they lost the series and uh, you
know out there down there in Miamilast Sunday, um, and then they

(09:16):
come out of the gates. They'relooking a little sluggish on on Friday night
until we get into the ninth inningand the Phillies make it interesting. They
forced Josh Hair to come in uhto you know, he doesn't get a
save for that, but he stillhad to close the door on the Phillies
as they were threatening. Um.You know, some interesting things that happened
at the course of that game. But yesterday's doubleheader was huge for the Phillies,
um, especially in the standing stare. From the standing standpoint, making

(09:39):
up a game and a half onthe Braves and making up a game and
a half on the Marlins putting themetsa game and a half further back,
which is what a what dumpster firethat team is with Brett Batty. Uh
did you see that play yesterday?Uh, unbelievable. I love every bit
of it. They are a blooperreal winning to happen. But um,
but the doubleheader yesterday and listen atthe game last night. And I know

(10:01):
you've covered both games of the doubleheader, You've covered all three games this weekend.
But man, I'll tell you whatthe intensity that is ratcheting up right
now between the Phillies and the padresUm. You can feel it. It's
it's kind of becoming paramount. Thehot dogging from Fernando Tatis, you know,
with the stutter step into third base, Juan Soto taking thirty two seconds
to round the bases after his homerun the other night to make an eighth

(10:24):
to one. Uh some sweet chimmusic up on Kyle Schwerbury yesterday. I
was glad that you got that homerun his turn at bat to make them
pay for that. Um, youknow, so Socia getting hit. Uh,
tell me what your feel is fromyour standpoint and covering the team.
Uh, you know some of theintensity seems to be existing right now between
these two teams that met in lastyear's NLCS. Yeah, you know,

(10:45):
I don't know. I can't saythat. I've I thought about that too
much. Um honestly, yesterday asI was watching the games here um in
South Philly. You know, thePadres have a handful of guys on their
team that are uber talented, right, and young and brash and all of
that. And I think that's justkind of the way they play. And

(11:07):
look, I mean that's baseball now. I don't like it personally, but
it doesn't matter if I like it, because the guys down on the field
they don't mind. And the guysin the Phillies dug And I've asked these
guys before. Does it bother youwhen Juan Soto takes thirty two seconds to
round the bases on a home run? Or does it bother you when he
does the shuffle? Uh? Youknow, when he takes a pitch inside

(11:30):
or turns around and tells the empirethat was high because of it? And
pretty much the answer is not really, Because on their side, on the
Philly side, or whomever else isplaying in the big leagues, they have
a couple of guys on their teamthat have a similar kind of brashness and
a similar kind of way to celebratebig plays. So it's just it's pervasive

(11:52):
in the game nowadays, you know, whether it be bat flips or bat
spikes or you know, got noproblem with like For me, I don't
have a problem. Here's the thing. I don't have a problem with any
of it because it's not my placeto have the problem with it. As
long as the guys down there don'tcare. If if the other guys over

(12:15):
here are showboating a little bit ordoing whatever they do, then it is
what it is. You know.If if it gets to a point where
the guys in one dugout get startto get ticked off about the way the
guys in the other dug out areacting, well, then they have to
take care of business and they haveto throw a little chimmu or they have
to hit someone on the float umto to to send a message. I

(12:35):
don't think that's what was happening yesterdayquite frankly. Um, maybe a little
bit, but again I don't thinkit has risen to the level of that
quite yet. I you know, obviously the phillis beat the Padres last year
to get to the World Series. But they they beat him pretty good.
You know, they beat him infive games, and it really kind of

(12:56):
was a lopsided series. And Idon't know that there was a whole lot
of bad blood coming into this series. And you know, Andres took it
to them game one, Phillies tookit to them Games two and three.
We'll see what happens here this afternoon. But I don't know, it doesn't
feel like the intensity between the Philliesand the Mets, or the Phillies and
the Braves, or the Phillies andand even the Nationals. For me,

(13:16):
it just feels like a National Leaguegame at the moment, you know,
where the intensity really uh you know, dives deep down and in this rivalry.
Is that that's what's in guys, those those like you know, five
or six clowns before Game one ofthe LCS last year. Uh, you
know, Bryce gonna lose, man, He's gonna cruise. That's what says.
Maybe was that the song that theythat they all dude, Maybe maybe

(13:41):
hopefully the Sean's back in studio canbring that up for us at some point
during the course of this Sean, you can. You can play it whenever
you want, dropping in time please. It is it's so cringeworthy, but
it's hilarious. Uh you know, the one what goes on? Uh,
but I'll tell you what, man, those guys, I don't know what
they were thinking. Can goes Heythey wrote that song, be they choreographed

(14:01):
it, and then see they decidedto present it to the world for all
of us to laugh at. ThePadres are now six and two against the
Phillies since that moment in time.Um, you know, but hopefully we
can get that played here so youcan, you can witness it, you
can live it, and uh,you know, we can all laugh at
it again. But for me,what I'm taking out of yesterday Murph is
the debut, the major league debutof Phillis outfielders six ranked prospect in their

(14:26):
system, Johann Rojas. Which Imean, if you're gonna have a welcome
to the big Leagues moment, you'rehaving it, Goose, that's what's in
Bryce gonna lose and man, he'sgonna crops, that's what's in a little
bit there. You get to getyour audio back. But um, yeah,

(14:50):
it was a terrific moment for sure. You know, here's the young
guy, kind of unexpected right comingup from Double A making his major league
debuts, skipping over that triple Astep. But what a season he's been
having down there for the ready fightingPhills. We all know what kind of
defense he could play. We seehim in spring training. He's all over
the field, running all over theplace and pulling it in. But offensively,

(15:11):
he's been terrific this season as well. And the Phillies, to their
credit, you know, when theyneeded someone to fill that spot for Christian
Pace, they reached down into thatdouble A letter level and bring him up.
And uh, you know, dynamic, I think is the best way
to describe him. When he wasasked what he thought he could bring to
the table, um, you knowhere at the big league level, his

(15:33):
first and his first word was energy. And I think that's terrific because that's
exactly what you're looking for from aguy like that. And to your point,
what a way to introduce yourself tothe Phillies fans. First of all,
he got a huge ovation when whenhe was introduced in the free games,
what Dan Baker said making his majorleague debut, you know, and

(15:54):
the place went nuts, which wascool. And then he goes out and
makes that play in the first inning, the double play on the second batter
of the game, Tattis and uh, great catch, great throw, great
tag by Ellis? Did he inthe air? Was that? Like?
Was that great to Ellis in theair? I mean that's a that's a
that's like three hunt. Yeah,I think I want to say two eighty

(16:15):
nine was what they measured it atto right around there. Um, Yeah,
it was tremendous and uh, andhe kind of did it flat footed
too, because he hit the wall. He kind of stumbled back off foot
the wall and then he got hisbearings and then he saw that um that
Um Song had has Song Kim hadyou know, grounded Si at that point
and needed to come all the wayback and he kind of just flat footed

(16:37):
it all the way to Ellis inthe air, and uh, it was
impressive and and and to Ellis's credittoo, catch and tag that was that
was not an easy play for him, and he made the play look easy.
So yeah, good way to start. And then the game too,
he gets his hits RBIs um andthat gets all that stuff out of the
way. So that was great. To see as well. The Gambler.

(17:00):
Phillis home for all things sports. What I think definitely all right, went

(17:22):
and rainy morning here in the DelawareValley right outside second lead to Radio Philly
broadcaster Greg Murphy. Don't hang outalone in the man came for baseball this
season, Try hanging out cheerleaders withsexy entertainers, four dollars, domestic beers,
Jamison specials, and awesome game dayexperiences all season long. That's right,
stopped in before door or after thegame, not only to see your

(17:42):
favorite entertainers, but also your chanceto have the best game day experience at
the game day experiences are at CheerleadersGentlemen's Club where champions play. Cheerleaders is
open daily from noon until to am. All right, So I want
to get your your finish up,your points about Johann Rojas and his debut
yesterday, and then I want todive into a couple other things. And

(18:03):
then we're gonna welcome in the unhappyGilmour from Green Legion Radio and we're gonna
talk with him for about fifteen minutesbefore we go into our final break.
So Murph, please finish up.Let's talk about Johan Rojas last night at
the plate, three for four,a run, scored, two RBI,
you know, and then he's stillpicking it out there in center field.
I think that's what we're gonna cometo expect from him. And man,
can can he run? He could? He could cover some space. Man,

(18:26):
he's a heck of a ballplayer.Exciting to watch Barry Electric. Yeah,
he can fly, There's no doubtabout it. And I think that's
a big part of his game. You saw that defensively yesterday, covered a
lot of ground. You know, when you have Rojas and center and you
had Marsh and left field last night, it really, you know, you
see what a difference it can makewhen you have guys that can go cover

(18:49):
ground. Not to take anything awayfrom Kryle Schwarber out there and left field,
because you know he does what hecan do out there, but he
is not a defensive left fielder. And you put those two guys out there,
and you know, you had Nickin right field, who's been very
solid, and all of a sudden, you know, those hits that have
been falling in in shallow left centerfield, they're getting gobbled up. And

(19:10):
we saw that a couple of timesyesterday. So that's what they that's what's
so intriguing about a good defensive playerlike Johann Rojas. He's one of the
best in any level of baseball whenwhen you stop and look at his metrics
and you look at his numbers anddefensive run saved and all of that stuff.
Um, he grades out as oneof the best in all of baseball
depending no matter what the level uhhe's at. And then yeah, you

(19:32):
know, look, the offense isgoing to be a bonus for him,
and he has to understand what hisgame is right, and his game is
speed, hit the ball on theground and try to try to run it
out. Um, you know, the William Mays Hayes kind of school of
hitting. And that's going to bevery effective for him. And we saw
that yesterday when he did the pushbuntthat that ended up being a base hit

(19:53):
for him. So I'm excited tocontinue to get a chance to watch him
play because he's a dynamic kind ofkid. A few quick hits there.
Also in regards to the last, you know, a couple of games here,
Bryce Harper gets off the Snide endsits thirty eight game homeless route and
the first home run last night.Since May twenty fifth, I'm a little
disappointed by his teammates though. Imean like it was the perfect opportunity for

(20:15):
them to give him the silent treatment, and they didn't do them. Some
of them did. It was itwas kind of a mixed bag in terms
of the silent treatment. There werea handful of guys who left the dugout
and didn't but there was, yeah, there was. But there was a
couple that that hung around and congratulatedhim. So, you know, we
talked to Bryce with the Posts nightafterwards, and you know, we asked

(20:37):
them, is there that sense ofrelief, you know, a monkey off
your back, you know back? And he said no. Honestly, he
said, I knew that it wouldhappened, and I was really not worrying
about it. He has hit acouple of balls, um that to the
track and ball in a couple ofthe games, and you know that would
have left the different ballpark that kindof he said, if I'm hitting the
ball and I'm barreling it up,hitting line drives, getting my base hits,

(20:59):
the rest states scare of itself. And I think that's a pretty good
attitude for any hitter to have, but certainly good attitude for Price Harper to
have. I'll tell you what.I'm sure he's happy that he got the
home run, but but he wasn'tobsession. I also think he's you know,
the media pundits I want to saythat he's not gonna hit a home
run like ever again, or helost power and all that stuff, like
the guy put on a display inbatting practice a couple weeks ago. I

(21:19):
think they said he hit fifteen homeruns. He can hit him. It's
just a matter of finding his way, keeping his head in there and and
running to barrow the ball. Uh. A guy that doesn't that doesn't get
discussed enough. Murph. And youknow he's not he doesn't play every day,
and he doesn't play you know thatvital of a role on the field
because we had the best catcher inbaseball in j t Romuto. But Garrett

(21:41):
Stubbs, I mean, what agamer, what a player that guy is.
Every time he plays, he makesan impact one way or another.
I mean he's third in the leagueand a six bunk base hits. Uh.
You know, he could rolls thepitching staff, he could roll the
music in the clubhouse. You know, the guys. The guys love his
playlist. I mean, Garrett Stubbsdoesn't get discussed enough what kind of role
he plays on this team. GarrettStubbs is as an important player on this

(22:06):
twenty six man roster as anybody else. He just simply is the amount of
work that goes in to getting picturesready behind the scenes is it's never ending
in JT and Garrett together handle that. And you know it's along with the
coaching staff and the amount of workthat Garrett puts in on a daily basis

(22:30):
is it's just I mean, he'sworking as hard as anybody else. You're
right, he doesn't get a chanceto showcase it out on the field during
game time as much. But whenhe does play, and I've said this
many times that he always always doesone thing to help a team win a
baseball game, and he did itagain yesterday. It might be defensively,

(22:52):
it might be you know, thebunt, it might be thrown a runner,
aunt at second. Whatever the casemay be, he always something,
and sometimes he does more than onething when he gets his opportunity. Backup
catchers in baseball are so important, and when you have a guy like JP
Roalmuto, who's the best in baseball. You're not going to play a lot,

(23:14):
but it doesn't mean that your impacton this team is not great.
And for Garrett Stubbs and the guyslove him too. He's a great personality,
that kind of thing. But forGarrett Stubbs, what he offers this
particular team cannot be measured. Itsimply can't. He's a huge part of
what they're trying to do. Realquick, before we bring our guests on

(23:34):
the Unhappy Gilmore Adam Gilmore Green LegionRadio is owned. I had listen.
I was getting some backlash off ofthis yesterday, and I don't think people
understand this, and obviously it didn'twind up hurting the Phillies in the long
run. But the play by TreyTurner yesterday where his body and his momentum
are going towards first base and hetries to throw up behind his back to
ed Mundo Sosa, you need oneout in that instance, and all your

(23:57):
momentum and everything is going towards firstbase and you're already passed second base.
If that ball is behind second baseor to the shortstop side of second base,
yes, you make that play tosecond because it's the easier play to
make. All his momentum and hisbody and everything is going towards first base.
And when the replay was shown lateron, I mean, the guy

(24:18):
was only two thirds of the wayup the base line. He would have
easily had him at first base. That play was unnecessary. You know,
I understand his thinking of it andthe like and behind it, and maybe
in the moment in the instance, and baseball's a bang bang game, but
I do not see the understanding thereof why people are saying that he made
the right play When he's throwing theball behind his back trying to get it

(24:40):
out at second base, the rightplay was going to first base. You
agree, Yeah, Well I don'thave to agree because I asked Tray after
the game that very questioned, andhe said he made the wrong play.
So for all the folks out therethat are saying he made the right play,
Tray would disagree with you. Herealized after that he should have gone
to first His explanation was pretty simple. It happened quickly, and when he

(25:03):
said, in his body clock,he felt like by the time that ball
hit his glove that he had verylittle time to go across the diamond and
get the runner at first. Buthe could see out of his purpheral vision
that the runner heading to second stillhad about, you know, seven steps.
So for him, in that veryquick instance, flipping it behind the

(25:26):
back was his best best chance toget it out. In retrospect, when
he looked back up and realized heprobably should have thrown to first, and
then he went back and looked atthe tape and then he confirmed that he
had he had time. He justhit his body clock. And that's how
these guys work, right, youknow, they have an idea of how

(25:48):
fast the runner is, and theirinternal clocks are I half time, I
half time, I don't have timekind of thing. And for Trey,
his internal clock betrayed him at thatvery moment he thought the only player he
had at second. But in retestfact, yeah, he said, look,
I have to make that play tofirst, and I get him at
first and we're out at the inning. Um. Ultimately, it didn't come

(26:08):
back, or it didn't hurt themto in terms of a loss, but
it was a big bone in thegame early and good for the Phils table
to come back and and uh,you know kind of rally from that man.
And look, the rest of theafternoon for Tray was was pretty good.
Uh so, you know, offensively, he's starting to really swing it,
which is great to see. Soyeah, you know, these bo's

(26:30):
art sport, it's just it justis and and sometimes the guys make the
wrong decisions and ultimately they go backand say, I could have done that
better. All right, Well,at this time I like to welcome in
our guest to the show this afternoon, the Unhappy Gilmore, the host of
The Unhappy Gilmore Show, Adam Gilmore, is joining us from Ohio. Adam,
welcome in, buddy. Thanks forhaving me brother. This is uh,

(26:52):
I'm sorry it's pouring rain out there. I hope they get the game
in today. Um, what adifference twenty four hours makes, you know,
just a here ago, I'm standingright out over there, and it's
about a you know, I'm guessingif we found out the temperature of the
surface of the sun and dial backa degree or two, that's about what
it was. Um. There wassweat dripping down my legs, just standing

(27:14):
still. But I had both myboys out there with me. We doubled
dipped stadiums yesterday here at the Bankand then the seven pm game down at
Camden Yards, which was absolutely awesome. I've been uting it pretty hard since
we got into town. Yeah,no doubt about it. You guys have
been all over the city. Um. First and foremost, I want you
to go ahead and promote your show. Let let people know where they can
find you, what day, whattime? And uh, I know there's

(27:34):
a segment on your show that youtake a lot of pride in. Um.
We're not gonna announce what it means, but the botwh So I want
to know. I want you togive us one from from your vacation so
far, so they think of onethat you know it comes across your mind
on that Well, I gotta tellyou Trey Turner when he did box that
play yesterday, because you know Ibelieve that was Gary Sanchez, right,

(27:57):
it was Gary Sanchez. Get theinternal Yeah, I get the internal clock.
I mean the guy you know,I think he runs at half the
speed of smell um. So youknow I can see where turns like I
got all day to flip this umand then and then the three run homer
happens, right, so like that, you know I'm looking at it like,
oh you know Ranger has been snakebit by that the last couple and

(28:19):
a couple of two out of hislast three starts. I mean, you
know, a couple of weeks agothe Grand Slam because marshan to get to
the ball in the gap, andthen yesterday with with Trey Turner on that
play. But Wednesday nights at sixpm. Uh, Wednesday nights six pm.
Uh, we do it right fromthe house. Um, you drink
a lot of water, man, drink of water. Thing. Well,
I'm not getting any younger, andyou gotta keep you know, everything's gotta

(28:41):
keep flowing, so the water hasto happen. I get guys that worked
for me and there I went outand had six or eight beers. Last
time. I'm like, dude,it's Tuesday, you're thirty eight. Like
that's not gonna last much longer.Bro, you gotta gotta mix. You
gotta get hydrated. Um. Butyeah, lots of water. Um,
someone as because my throat gets driedout a lot. Yeah. Um and
uh, you know someone makes alittle bit of nerves, I guess.

(29:03):
But yeah, we try to havea good time. Botw is something we
go in right after kind of openingthe show and that's where I picked out
a knucklehead in the in the sportsworld, whether it's a player, a
comments, somebody to choose from somebut there, and believe me, there's
always someone. Like we've done BobHuggins twice. He's up for like the
Lifetime Achievement Award. At this point, we try to have fun with it.

(29:23):
Deb Yeah, Wednesday nights at six, it's um. You know,
if you follow the Green Legion onYouTube, Twitter, Facebook, just log
in there, share it everywhere,UM and come on and have some fun.
Sounds great and up mirth. Ifyou didn't know this already, I
might. I might have told youa few weeks ago when we had our
Mets fan, Mike Powers, whenI had him joined the program. Yeah,

(29:45):
we're gonna have a Yankees fan joinedthe show. You know, Adam
Adams from Connecticut, so he isa diehard Yankee fan, but he's a
brutally honest Yankee fan in of that. But the dynamic that I'm looking to,
you know, find out today. And as much as I I've known
Adam over the last couple of years, especially over the last year with our
group text thread with Louise de Mainguz down there in Miami. Uh,

(30:07):
I want to understand the dynamic ofhow did you become a huge Eagles fan?
So my dad was a Cowboys fan. So my dad was Boston everything
except for football. Okay, soRed Sox, Bruins, Celtics, but
then Cowboys. Wow. Yeah,we have quite a few of those scumbags
here in Philadelphia, right, Andyou know, you come from a state
that does not have an actual professionalteam outside of the Whalers for a while,

(30:30):
and I still fly some Whalers guardfrom time to time. Um,
but that's local and sports. Ohyeah, no doubt, no doubt about
it. Yes, yeah, butyeah, that that's kind of how that's
you know, and my dad notexactly the uh the pillar of fatherhood,
so to U to revolt against thata little bit more, we you know,

(30:52):
just I mean, the Yankee thingwas always when I was a kid.
I tell people my parents got divorcedbefore I was too, because my
mother's a Yankees fan and my dad'sa Red Sox. So it makes sense.
You know, fifty percent of marriagesdon't work out that that falls right
into one of them. Uh,so murf they did yesterday him and his
two boys, Grady and Liam. They they went to Uh, so they

(31:15):
were here yesterday for the afternoon tiltat one o'clock. UM. And the
fine thing was the Phillies they didn'tscore in the timeframe that they were here
at the ballpark, So then leavingactually set the stage for the rest of
the day. Thanks loudly for doingthat, No problem. So they well,
they had to cut early because theywere going down to Canney Yards last
night. And uh, you knowa big topic of conversation that Murf and
I had here on the show.We love to talk about ballparks and uh,

(31:36):
you know, Murf gets to travelwith the team and you know a
lot of times we get to talkabout, you know, the ballpark that
he's in that day, the viewsand what he thinks is top ten all
that stuff. So Citisenmanpark, CanneonYards, are they like close to your
top five? Because I think he'sapproaching twenty himself. Adam is u,
So where do you like? Whatare your thoughts about our glorious ballpark here

(31:57):
across the street? They're both inthe top five, Um, having experienced
both of them. Next, likeI told you before the show, I
almost wish that I would have ratherlike the Baltimore game was won and the
bank was seven, because I thinkwhat you see over here, you hear
about it all the time, andyou've even said it is you know,
a lot of a lot of whatwhat what you see at the Bank was

(32:17):
taken from the blueprint that Candon Yardsset out right. It broke the mold
back in ninety two when that kindof style opened up. And so to
see the Bank and then Candon Yards, Candon Yards is great from the aesthetics,
the view and everything. But Ido believe the game day experience here
is better. And the good thingwas that you were here yesterday. But
yeah, go ahead, man,Well, I mean, I you know,

(32:39):
obviously I have a little bit ofbias to the ballpark here in Philadelphia.
It's not the best one times ayear. I mean, you know,
it's a beautiful thing. It is. It is. Can The Yards,
though, is one of the bestin old of baseball in terms of
as you just just said, Adam, in terms of the aesthetics, and
you walk in there and you feellike, you know, old timey baseball.

(33:01):
And they did such an amazing jobwhen they built that ballpark back in
ninety two. Uh and and whenit opened. You know, I was
in college at the time and wewould go down there from from Philadelphia and
go to baseball games and it wasjust such an incredible experience. And you're
right, you know, Philadelphia andmany other ballparks after that took little pieces

(33:22):
of what Baltimore did, and theydid their own as they built their own
ballparks. I think Citizens Bank tookit to the next level, um and
and did just an amazing job.And when the ballpark is full and the
crowd is nuts and and the teamis scoring runs, there is very few
ballparks in America that that offer youthe kind of game day experience. And

(33:43):
did you get here in Philly?Well, and I had said that to
Chris yesterday, Um, that playthat uh, that that's made in the
first inning yesterday. Yeah, thatthe sound that comes out of this ballpark.
Andy. My boys looked at it, like Dad, it was it
was a great play, but likeit's not like they scored a home albody
hit a runner. And I'm like, I'm like, guys, I told
you Philadelphia. It's different. Absolutely, we go nuts overall that stuff,

(34:08):
which is great, which is great. We don't win a lot here you
know, championship, So we haveto take it any of which way that
we can. So, as Ihave said, Adam is the Yankees fan.
So you know right now, theYankees. They got themselves out of
last place yesterday because the Red Soxlost and they won. But they're still

(34:29):
in that division race. I mean, everybody is crammed up. I think
they're all within eight and a halfgames of each other. But there are
some Yankees fans that are growing impatientabout their team and are thinking about selling
at the trade deadline. What doyou think this team should do? Should
they buy? Should they sell goinginto the July thirty first trade deadline?

(34:49):
Look, I mean after we coulduse another outfield back, right, especially
with Judge going down, it's obviousthat Stanton is not going to be consistent
enough to carry the offense, eventhough he can when he gets hot,
but then he pulls a ca butthen he pulls a cat. Yeah,
you play him too much and thenyou know, you know his big you
know his his pain. I wasgonna say big toe, but that's where
Judges. Ye, Judge has thebig toe. So maybe maybe it's Stanton's
pinky toe, you know whatever.A quad you know, a hang nail

(35:15):
um. But in growing frustrated,I mean I've been frustrated for about five
years with the way how Steinbrenner runsthe team like him and cal. If
you want to talk about someone whoshould have been fired, it's Bryan Cashman
that should have been fired, notthe hitting coach. Firing the hitting coach

(35:36):
on the New York Yankees is theequivalent of rearranging the chairs on the deck
of the Titanity. This is notsolve anything. So I mean, Shaun
Case, can he come in andhelp Anthony Volpi Oswaldo P, Yeah,
yeah, he can help those guysresurrect Nobolton, who's now going on the

(35:57):
aisle. Is he gonna resurrect Stantonand get him consistent? Now? Rizzo,
No, who's batting averages dropped sixtypoints since the judge has been on
the IL. I would either standpad or sell. And I can tell
you what they're gonna tell you.All these people that want us that you
go out and make a big splashtrade, you're not gonna get that because
how and Brian cash we're gonna tellyou that the guys we're getting back off

(36:17):
IL is the equivalent of making atrade. Ye brings repeat. I always
love hearing those ones, and Iguess it's good news there, murph.
As and once again here on theprogram we get the national anthem practice going
on. I'm waiting for I'm waitingfor God Bless America to hit soon.
So maybe the guys are clearing upjust a little bit here. But before

(36:38):
we go to break, and whichis a perfect time for us, they're
gonna break with them practicing this rightnow. I would be remissed if I
didn't say and point out that ourgood friend Philip Rivers is expecting child number
ten. Um, murph, Iappreciate your your input here. What kind
of wild man is Philip Rivers tobe going down on the paths of hell

(37:00):
with the ten cap? Hey?You know, there's nothing better than than
being a father, right and ifyou can afford to ten children, which
obviously Philip Rivers can afford ten kids, Uh, I got no problem.
I love it. Look good forhim. Uh you know he's uh,
he's enjoying that part of his life. And you look, you know,

(37:22):
you know me, I'm living.Let live so uh, if if that's
what Philip and and his wife wantto do ten kids. Look, if
I had boatloads of money like thatand didn't have to worry about, you
know, college and all that kindof thing, Yeah, line them up.
Kids are free. I mean thereason why I asked this question is

(37:42):
because Adam's here. Adam should should? He really did? I'm just like,
what another four more and he's gettingto have his own seven on seven
in the backyard right there? Yougo? Even better? Why not go
to eighteen to play? You canhave two baseball squads. That's There's There's
one thing for sure. Don't trustthe rivers to pull out of your driveway.

us the rest of your top five. All right, So we talked about
having kind of know when I wasin that high school range. So eighty
six to eighty nine was my highschool. Uh, it was my high
school range. So if you ifyou hit into that range, and maybe
you're a winner in exist. Iwas bored six. What's that? I

(40:57):
was born in an eighty six. There you go. Yeah, I was
already doing great things. I mean, come on, catch up, let's
go all right. Next up forme, as I put my reading glasses
on because I'm old. Um.Next up Steve Winwood, Higher Love great
too. Every time I hear that, yeah, um, that brings me
right back to the holy frost, back to here high school Mac mcdaddy days.

(41:22):
That's right, that's right. Yeah, they weren't very mad, but
whatever, um guns and roses, sweet Child of Mine, which is one
of my all my favorite songs anyway. Um, but uh but that was
you know, we were they werein their heyday, uh at that point.
And uh so, so that makesthe list bon Jovi again. You
know, they were crushing it leftand right, living on a prayer.

(41:43):
I put bon Jovie living on aprayer. And then I had to go
one sappy, you know, hairband love song because that was the all
the rage back then too. SoI went with Poison every rose as the
Storm. Yeah. I mean wealways had that like those kind of songs
you know, you went and yougot to you had to be in your
feels in your high school years.I mean I it's like, because you

(42:05):
were always longing for that love andsome of us didn't get it into college,
some of us going to get aftercollege. It's just yeah, so
you might as well. But uhyeah, I'm actually looking forward to your
reaction to some of the songs thatare on the list, because there ain't
no chance in hell that you're you'regonna pick one of these songs. But
hey, let's let's figure it out. Lip Biscuit Rolling, Great Song,

(42:27):
Ocean Avenue by Yellow Cards, Someone'sTrying to Tap Into My Feels, my
Friends Over You by Newfound Glory,Party Rock Anthem, LMFAO love that Jam,
another one, Bites the Dust byQueen, The Taste of Ink by
The Used, Intergalactic by the BeastieBoys, but himI and Rhapsody by Queen,
Somewhere and Somewhere on Fullerton Alistair Oasis, Champagne Supernova or Holiday In by

(42:52):
Chinny Wow. Yeah, I knowyou're gonna pick the last one, so
let's let's cut the crap. YeahNo, I'm not because I've never heard
of it. Um So, Iguess now you go too. If I
had to pick something off that list, i'd pick either one of the queen's

(43:13):
songs, because that's my error. But um so, I'm going Bohemian Rapsody.
But you know, y'all, letyou young guns figure out the winner
of this one. Oh yeah, also TLC Waterfalls. I'm sorry, I'm
looking at that on the board rightnow. I don't think you were voting
for them anyway, Yeah, no, you weren't. You know. I
love it. Bohemian Rahpsody is thebest song, hands down on the list.

(43:35):
That other ones are great for mytime frame, in my genre,
in my era, But I'll goBohemian Rapsy back I'll keep in mind.
But Heemian Rapsy Wayne's world. They'rein the car jam into it, right,
I mean that's the whole theme that'spart about the movies. Tia corrac
there's no doubt. Gotta love slash. Look look up who who the winner
is and let me know. Congratulations. Who ever took Bohemian Rhapsody by a

(43:55):
Queen? All right, murv, last week you took the big fat zero
oh and three. Last week you'regetting really big for your britches. You
had, you had the Provado, you were half point behind me in the
standings, and you took the bigol last week, while me, on
the other hand, three and ohfour point week going into the All Star
break. I'man you know, I'mjust I'm just saying, I mean,

(44:17):
like, this is not all ofus can be great at this thing.
Um, but you know, I'mjust gonna have to put it out there
that right now you're at nineteen andseventeen twenty three and a half points.
I am now twenty two and fourteenw twenty eight points. So let's see
if you can make up some groundtheir partner, what do you got for
me? I could make up groundbecause we can still got three months to
go. So that's what you failedto recognize. This is a little It's

(44:39):
a marathon, not a sprint.So I, oh, three week,
Yeah, it happens. I'm coolwith that. So I gotta get back
on it. So I gave exactlythirty five seconds amount of thought to my
three picks today because which means youyeah, because last week I put like
time in trying to date and Igo on three. So so here we

(45:00):
go. I am just throwing itup against the wall this week. First
up, I'll take my favorite, and why not. There's no shot that
the Atlanta Braves lose today to ChicagoWhite Sox theory minus one seventy eight.
They lost last night. I meanthey bounced back and win the game.
I hate saying it, but theBraves are the best team in baseball right
now. So they beat the WhiteDogs that they're my favorite. I'm taking

(45:21):
that. Steve Sutter is the onethat's a bohemian and Rapsidi foo queen by
the way, So congratulations Steve. And I looked at the Braves too because
they were under minus two Andre andI was like, I can't do it
because I want us to make upground. But I'm gonna go with the
Rangers last one thirty five at homeversus Cleveland to sweep the series. Martin
Perez is on the hill today forthe Rangers. I'm gonna take the Rangers
to take down Cleveland as my favorite. Give me here underdog, all right,

(45:42):
my other dog is again. Ithink this one was a little bit
of a Headstrackers. Rand I sawit, so I said, all right,
I'm taking it. The Brewers areunderdogs to Cincinnati today. I know,
look, I know Cincinnati's played well, but I don't believe in Cincinnati,
and I think the Brews are apretty good team. The Burs have
already won the first two games ofthat series. I think they end up
swooping the Reds out. It's abattle for the top spot in the NL

(46:05):
Center. So they're plus one ten. I'm taking the Brewers is one hundred
dollars. See, that's my overunder this week. But I've over eleven
in Cincinnati. The Reds have beenshut out three consecutive games. Adrian Houser
and Ben Lively, you're starting againstone of each other and they're both having
decent years. There's no shot. Why is that that eleven is course fields?
It's not. It's right, Imean it's it's not All American Ballpark,

(46:30):
a great All American ball park.I just can't see it. I'm
going over eleven in that game.Give me your under. I'm going over
eleven. Absolutely, there's a waythat's screaming take under eleven. They've been
shut out three consecutive games, Likeyou would think, I'm going over eleven.
All right, all right for meunder over under this week, Washington

(46:51):
and Saint Louis. The number isnine. These are two bad teams getaway
day. You know, they're probablynot a whole lot to play for,
an a whole lot of energy outthere. I'm going under nine. And
here's God bless America for you aswell. So I'm going under nine Washington
and Saint Louis today. I believethat games in Saint Louis. Okay,
my underdog for this week is gonnabe the Pittsburgh Pirates plus one twenty at

(47:14):
home versus the Giants to avoid thesweep. Just a hunch. The Giants
are good, but I don't thinkthey're that good as far as going into
Pittsburgh and taking three. So can'tyou believe it? Thousands of water six

(47:47):
to five and the wild things arebead? Can you believe it? Can
you believe in two things we foundinteresting from this past week in Major League
Baseball? Obviously only a few fewdays worth of games since the last time
we were together, but you canyou can piggyback off of the Major League
Baseball Draft or the All Star Game, which is what I'm doing today.

(48:07):
So Murph, give me your first. Can you believe it? For today,
all right, Massa Taka Yoshida ofthe Red Sox. The Red Sox
have been playing pretty good baseball oflate. I'm sure Adam knows that he
has eight streak. He had hadeight straight games with at least two hits,
and that was the longest streak fora left handed Red Sox hitter since
Ted Williams did it back in nineteenforty. So he's been swinging the bat

(48:31):
well. Anytime you get matched upwith Ted Williams, that's worth mentioning.
So if it's done. The NationalLeague won the All Star Game for only
the third time since nineteen ninety six, which is the last time that the
All Star Game was in Philadelphia twothousand and ten, twenty twelve and now
this one and two of the lastthree managers to do it are Phillies managers

(48:51):
Charlie Manuel in twenty ten and Topperthis year. But the last time they
won the All Star Game in twentytwelve, Bryce Harper and Mike Trout appeared
in their first All Star Games.Derek g led the league and hits at
age thirty eight. There was threeperfect games that year, Philip Humber,
Matt Kane, and Felix Hernandez, who was the last one to do it
prior to the last one that justhappened a couple of weeks ago. Teo
Gonzalez led the league and wins withtwenty one, and Carl's Corea went number

(49:15):
one overall in the Major League BaseballDraft. Damn good stuff. All right,
all right, here's my second one. The Brewers Milwaukee Brewers are the
first team in Major League Baseball historyto record those three straight shoutouts while striking
out at least twelve batters in eachgame as well. So that's pretty the

(49:37):
part about this that it's amazing. That's the first time that's ever happened in
baseball history. Anytime that something happensthat's never happened before in this game that's
been around for one hundred and fortyyears or whatever or longer, it's amazing
to me. So there you go, right there with you speaking of the
Brewers, did you know that nota single one of the Brewers past twenty

(49:57):
five first round picks has played afull season in the majors for the Brewers
twenty five and that's not including thisyear's or last year's picks. Twenty five
crazy to think, all right,Murph, we got another big week ahead
for the Phillies, trying to wrapup the series today and take the series
against the San Diego Padres day offtomorrow. And we had three against the

(50:20):
Brewers here at home before we goto Cleveland for a three game set,
quick three games at another one ofthose where we're just jumping out for three
games that we're coming back. Buthey man, continue to make up ground,
continue to try and get into thatwild card race even further, because
right now it's looking like a fiveteam race for those three wild card spots,
because you know, if you're notincluded six, if you want to
include the Annal Central teams, butone's gonna win a division, one's gonna

(50:44):
be in that race. But everybody, five teams are within one game right
now or a game and a halfof those three wildcard spots. And then
you know the Padres seven and ahalf back. Big week ahead for the
fighting Phils, no doubt about it. I mean, you know, this
is a big game here today.Hopefully we get this game in between the
rain drops. But you know, winning this series against the Podres, especially

(51:06):
after losing the first game, it'sjust I think it's just a real statement.
You know, this is a goodPinders team. I know they're not
playing well, but they're good team. Their lineup is good, they have
some good pitching. I think pitchinghas been most of their problem, but
they have some good pitching. Ithink winning three out of four in this
series out of the All Star breakis a really positive statement. And then

(51:28):
you get the day off and thena good Guardians team coming in here our
excuse me, I'm sorry, agood Milwaukee team coming in here, and
then you go play a good Guardiansteam. So yeah, it is a
big week. But you know yousay this all the time on Sundays.
First things First, win today, right, win today, finish up this
series, Take three or four fromthe podres. I think you feel pretty
good about yourself. It's been afew Sundays since we've had a W partner.

(51:51):
I think we need to add one, but we haven't had one since
the Mets game where they came backin the eighth inning. So let's get
a W today partner. I appreciateyou joining us today from across the street.
Looking forward to seeing you live fromCleveland. You'll be there at Progressive
Field next Sunday, and then we'llrecon being here in a couple of weeks
over we're here at Exfinity Adam Gilmourappreciate you joining the program and enjoyed the

(52:14):
rest of your vacation and time herein Philadelphia. Thanks brother, thanks for
having me on good times and forSlash joining me here at Exfinity Live and
the two Shawn's back in studio holdingdown to Fort. This is Chris Sacker,
Green Legion Radio and like a threeone pitch to Ryan Howard, we
are out of here. Let's go, Phillies, take down the Padres,

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
