Today, we’re talking about GST, the Goods and Services Tax. It’s a 10% tax added to most goods and services in Australia, and while it seems simple, many businesses still get confused.
If you run a business, at some point you’ll need to register for GST, charge it on your sales, issue proper tax invoices, and report it to the ATO.
The benefit? Once registered, you can also claim GST credits on your business expenses, which helps reduce how much you actually pay.
It’s also important to remember that not everything attracts GST. Essential items like basic food, education, and medical services are GST-free.
