1. Which SEC coaches are on the hottest seat?
2. New Section of the show called: State your case! And defend it as we critique it.
1. Texas- Sarkisian has the highest expectations going into 2025. They’ve been in the playoff for the last 2 seasons. With Quinn Ewers gone, the team is now in the hands of Arch Manning. 4 starters on the offensive line need to be replaced. Can they protect Manning?
2. Georgia- the days of Georgia just reloading may have passed, but they are still highly regarded this season despite only returning 7 starters. Gunner Stockton replaces Carson Beck.
3. LSU- Brian Kelly has a lot riding on this season. They have been good but not great since he came from Notre Dame. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier passed on the NFL for one more season in Baton Rouge. After throwing for 4,052 yards and 29 touchdowns last year, Nussmeier ranks among the top QB’s in the nation. Brian Kelly hit the portal hard, picking up receivers, and some key defensive players.
4. Alabama- Year 2 for Kalen DeBoer. Ty Simpson, Austin Mack, and Keelon Russell battle for the QB position. Alabama is ok everywhere else both defensively and offensively. DeBoer has high expectations this season, and he’ll be expected to make the playoff.
5. Florida- Billy Napier saved his job last season with a strong finish to what looked like a washed up season in Sept. DJ Lagway is anticipated to be one of the best QB’s in the Nation. Additionally he was a veteran crew around him at the receiver position, running back, and one of the best offensive offensive lines in the SEC. Defense, especially at the Corner position is going to remain a question mark. They do have 5 returning starters in defense.
6. South Carolina- after going 9-3 last season, the gamecocks are going to have high expectations for Shane Beamer. They do have Lenoris Sellers returning, and he is a game changer.
7. Ole Miss has won 10 games for 3 of the last 4 years. Jaxon Dart will be missed, but Lane Kiffin is also missing a lot of production on both sides of the ball. He has a top portal class though, and hopes to hit the ground running with some veteran players. Austin Simmons will be the QB.
8. Texas A&M- Mike Elko will go into his second season needing to make a mark. Marcel Reed leads the team at QB. He showed promise last season, but was #11 in the SEC. They have the most returning starters in the SEC, so matching last years 8-5 may be underestimating them.
9. Oklahoma- Brent Venables is on the hottest seat in the SEC right now. This team can stand out, and has the potential to make a run…. But we say that every year. John Mateer from Washington state will be the qb. Defense will be fine, it’s the offense that needs to step up to win games.
10. Tennessee- Joey Aguilar from App State will lead Josh Heupels offense. They are anticipated to have a strong defense this season.
11. Auburn- May be the sleeper this season. Hugh Freeze had a team last season that beat themselves game after game last year. Clean that up, and they make the playoffs. They have a strong recruiting class both from high school and from the transport portal.
12. Missouri- Beau Pribula and Sam Horne will fight for the qb spot. This is a team last season that was dominant, although their schedule was one of the easiest in the country. That’ll be the same this season. They returned seven starters on defense, so it should be hard to score against them. This might help the fact that they may have some challenges on offense.
13. Arkansas-Sam Pittman is looking to beat his seven and six record from last season..
14. Vanderbilt- .
15. Kentucky- Mark Stoops is likely a candidate for the hot seat right now. Yes he’s had some great seasons in the past, but it seems like they’re moving downhill. They did not have a very good
16. Mississippi State- anticipated be the worst team in the SEC,.
