Hi, I'm Edwina Griffin. Today, I noticed behaviours in my dog and newly acquired rescue piglet that reminded me of the workplace. Territorial issues, conflict, and stress are present in both environments. Sometimes, these behaviours are evident and manageable, but other times they go unnoticed, impacting organizational culture.

On Saturday, August 2nd, I'll be delivering the keynote opening for the Women's Ignite Fitness Conference, discussing the silent killers: bullying, harassment, and abuse. These issues affect all businesses, directly or indirectly. We'll explore how to identify and manage these problems within your team, the shift from conflict to bullying, and the three most common types of bullies.

You'll learn your own conflict style and the five common traps in difficult conversations. I'll share a plan to prepare for these conversations, emphasizing that managing them isn't innate but requires preparation. Join us for an interactive and fun session on a serious topic. Get your tickets now for a fantastic networking opportunity. I look forward to seeing you there!

(00:00):
Hi, I'm Edwina Griffin. Today, when I was witnessing my dog and my newly acquired
rescue piglet, I recognized behaviors that I sometimes see in the workplace.
And what I mean by that is, evidently, there were territorial issues.
Evidently, there was conflict. There was stress. And sometimes those behaviors
present in front of you and you can manage them.

(00:21):
Other times, they might happen in the corner of your eye, but you can't quite nail them.
And other times, you don't even know what's going on behind your back.
And this is a sort of behavior that can happen in workplaces around conflict,
around stress, and the impact that can have on an organization's culture.
Now, on Saturday the 2nd of August, I'm excited to be doing the keynote opening

(00:44):
for the Women's Ignite Fitness Conference, and in that opening,
I'll be talking about the silent killers.
The silent killers being bullying, harassment, abuse, and the impact of that
in Australia, the current status, impact on your business, whether directly or indirectly.
Now, these problems aren't isolated to just bad companies or big corporates.

(01:06):
In fact, all companies or gyms are going to be impacted by these silent killers
whether directly or indirectly, whether with your direct staff,
whether with your clients and or both.
What we're going to be looking at in a fun way, in an interactive way,
is how do you know if there's a problem in your team and are your staff trained

(01:26):
to identify and manage these issues and why should you care?
I'll also be discussing at what point does conflict shift into bullying and harassment?
You'll learn the three most common types of bullies.
You'll learn your own conflict style and I'll also outline the five most common
traps people tend to make when they're having a conflict or a difficult conversation.

(01:50):
I'll also share a plan for you and your team to plan, prepare for difficult
conversations to try and build and improve this skill set.
Although many people think they can manage difficult conversations.
Everyone thinks because we can speak, it means we can.
It's not necessarily something we're comfortable with. It's not innate.
Naturally, conflict can bring in the fight or flight, so it doesn't come easily to everyone.

(02:14):
And if the fight or flight comes in, you've got no hope. so
it's all about preparation and that's what we're going to have fun with in
this opening address a bit of interaction bit of
fun on quite a serious topic so if you haven't already got tickets to the ignite
women's event on saturday and also there's the friday event so if not one both
then click and get a ticket now you've got two weeks until it till it happens

(02:36):
and it's gonna be a fun day always is it's also fantastic networking so i look
forward to seeing you there.
