(00:00):
Hi, I'm Tyler Simone and this is the Happily Self-Conscious podcast, the show where it's
(00:06):
cool to be self-conscious.
As a personal development enthusiast, I love to learn how I can become better in all areas
of life and I want to share with you transformative tips and tricks to help you also become your
best self.
Together, we'll learn how we can become more self-conscious.
Let's do it.
(00:26):
Hello there.
Welcome to another episode of the podcast.
I'm so happy you're here, especially because today we're going to be talking about one
(00:50):
of my favorite topics, which is intuition.
I love to read about it, learn about it.
It's just so interesting to me.
If it's also interesting to you, after this episode, go listen to episode number 24 because
in that one, I talk about what intuition is, what it means to be intuitively intelligent,
how to increase your intuitive intelligence, and all the benefits of following your gut.
(01:14):
There are many.
There really are.
It's a totally different way to live.
When we think about intuition, I feel like a lot of us maybe think about listening to
our intuition when something bad is going to happen or when something's not right outside
of us.
There's some sort of threat and it's good for that.
It's really good for sensing threats and we have to definitely listen to our gut when
(01:39):
it comes to that.
It's also great for determining what's best for us or what direction to go in or not go
in.
Bad vibes might mean that we are going the wrong way.
Bad vibes, sensing bad vibes, getting that feeling literally in your gut.
(01:59):
Those bad vibes are really important to be able to detect because ignoring intuitive messages
that are communicating to us that we need to go in a different direction could be really
dangerous.
It might mean that we don't trust our intuition at all.
Sadly, I feel like most of us are taught to trust everyone else and everything else.
(02:24):
It's not super surprising that a lot of us maybe don't trust our intuition but it's
just unfortunate.
It doesn't have to be that way.
We can learn how to better trust our intuition.
That's the good news.
Lately I've been practicing trusting my intuition more and I wanted to let you in on this new
(02:47):
practice of mine.
I've been keeping an intuition journal close by and writing down what my gut feelings are
and the dates that I have them.
Sonia Schochette recommended this practice in her book, Trust Your Vibes, one of my favorites.
She says that every time you write something down, you validate it even if it doesn't make
(03:10):
sense at the moment.
Quote, it trains your mind not to dismiss or ignore these subtle messengers but instead
make a note of them and expect them to make sense eventually.
End quote.
It's not really about acting on that intuitive hit that you had.
The practice is more about just acknowledging your intuitive hits and acknowledging that
(03:34):
your spirit or your intuition is trying to tell you something very important.

My intuition journal is teeny tiny.
(04:19):
It's a little bit bigger than the palm of my hand, which I love because I can just kind
of toss it in my purse and take it with me wherever I go.
And I've been able to put what it is that my intuition is communicating into words
since doing this whole practice.
It's really similar to free writing, which is a journaling technique where you just kind
(04:40):
of let the words flow.
No editing, just a stream of your thoughts.
And speaking of that, I'll make sure to link a recent blog post I wrote about free writing
and other journaling techniques.
I'll link it in the show notes, but back to the intuition journal.
So having one to write down what your intuitive hits are when they happen, it's its own special
(05:03):
practice because you start to get really, really clear about what you're feeling.
And normally you might notice that you're getting bad vibes from something or someone,
but you might just know that you don't feel good doing that thing or being around that
specific person.
But after allowing your intuition to speak more often and acknowledging it more often
(05:28):
by writing things down in the moment, you get more and more clear on the specifics of
why you feel those things.
It's like scary clear.
And you might also start to notice that you have lots of intuitive hits.
This is how I feel.
You might start to notice that you have more hits than you have ever realized because we
(05:52):
aren't always choosing to be aware of what we're feeling.
You kind of have to choose to pay attention to your intuition in order to hear it.
I learned that when we stop ignoring our intuition, we reestablish the connection that we have
to our true self because that's who speaking after all.
And we strengthen that connection.
(06:13):
Intuition, it truly is our true self talking.
And we all have an intuition, but we're not always being aware enough to catch those
gut feelings when they happen.
Honestly, I've been really surprised by some of my intuitive hits.
Some of them sound a little crazy in the moment, but it's just really interesting to see what
(06:36):
my inner self is feeling in relation to what's going on around me in real time.
So if you're looking to work on being more self aware or being more mindful of how you
feel and you're kind of up to try something new, I definitely suggest keeping an intuition
journal to just acknowledge the intuitive hits and the inner guidance that's being
(07:01):
revealed to you throughout your day.
The quote for today is, your intuition knows what to do.
The trick is getting your head to shut up so you can hear.
Thank you so, so much for listening and for being here.
