minutes, let everything else goand just listen and smile. I'm
your host, Julie Jackson.
Hey, friends, I hope this findsyou doing well. This is actually
(00:27):
a follow up on last week story.
Last week I shared with youabout little Allie, my little
Corgi Sheltie mix that startedit all for me, probably. And
this is just one of my all timefavorite Allie stories. And I If
my mom were still living, I mayget in trouble for telling this
story. But it was so funny. Somy mom, after my parents were
(00:48):
retired, mom would often youknow, she had her chair, her
Lazy Boy had her little tablenext to her and it had all of
her, you know, her books and herwhatever. You know, she did like
a lot of embroidery and stufflike that. And whatever she was
working on, it was all rightthere. And a lot of times she
(01:09):
would spend a lot of time justin her chair doing her thing.
And just a little bit about mymom, my mom was the most
outgoing friendly person you'veever met. Just just so warm and
embracing everyone just soloving and fun. And she took a
genuine interest in everybody.
(01:29):
She knew everything abouteveryone but not in like a busy
body way but in a because shereally cared way. And she would
run into people she hadn't seenin years and be like, Oh, hey,
whatever happened last time Italked to you, you're so and so
was having tests run? Are theyokay? I mean, she just she
(01:50):
remembered every detail abouteveryone and was always
genuinely concerned. And so didthis is just an aside, but at
one point, she had a mild strokeas she got older and she was
really struggling because shewas so upset about the memory
loss. And we kind of had tomarvel because we said after the
(02:10):
stroke with her memory loss, shestill remembered more than most
of us ever remembered when wewere perfectly healthy. So that
that was a little bit about mymom, but my mom loved the dogs
and especially Allie. Allie wasthe first granddog, if you will,
and Allie and my mom had aspecial bond. Mom was the one
(02:32):
you know that Allie probablyquickly identified as the
weakest link as far asaccidentally accidentally
dropping food and things likethat. So when mom would sit in
her recliner alley and remindyou, you know, we Allie got to
the point where she was a littlebit over fluffy. So it wasn't
even like it's this little bittytiny lap dog. But Allie would
(02:56):
hop up in that recliner, onceshe'd let mom get in. And then
once mom was in there, Alliewould hop up in there and then
she would back her rear end inbetween mom and one of the
armrests and wiggle her way downand then she'd sit there and a
lot of times she had her frontpaws kind of hanging over the
(03:16):
armrest and they would sit thereand rock for as long as mom
would stay in that chair. If momstayed in that chair for hours,
Allie would sit there with herand rock for hours. And that was
their thing. We would go to momand dad's house often a lot of
times once I moved back where Iwas closer to home, I would
(03:38):
often go visit them at leastonce a weekend. And of course
Allie always came with me. Sothat was a big thing. She was
super excited when she'd see theseatbelt coming out because she
knew we were going to see Mamawand Papaw's. So one day, we're
over there, and we're visiting.
We're visiting and mom's sittingin her recliner. And Allie sees
(03:59):
it and Allie trots over there, and she's poised in her ready
position about to jump upwaiting for mom to get situated.
And all Allie starts making thisawful noise and, and I hear mom
going Allie, stop it! Stop it,stop it! I go over to find out
what's going on because it'sthis terrible, terrible sound.
(04:20):
And there is the most awfulsmell. My mom when she sat in
the chair had passed gas and wastrying to pretend like she
hadn't and she was trying toplay it off. And Allie starts
making this hacking, gaggingsound that you can hear
throughout the whole house. Andthen of course my mom making a
(04:40):
big production about trying toget her to stop and drew all
this attention to it. And we'reall coming over there to make
sure everyone's okay. And thenwe all of course realize what
happened. And there was no wayMom could deny it. So I still to
this day get so tickled when Ithink about that, because my
(05:01):
mom, she, she wasn't pretentiousat all. But you know, she was
she was raised in the south inthe 20s and 30s. And that just
wasn't something that you talkedabout and, and so of course, she
was just mortified and soembarrassed, and it's still to
this day, it's one of myfavorite dog stories. And it was
(05:22):
so funny. So she did forgiveAllie for ratting her out. But I
will just never forget the daythat that Allie blew the whistle
on her. And she there was therewas no way around it, she could
not play it off. So anyway, Ihope that y'all have a wonderful
week. And I hope that your dogsdon't rat you out. Bye y'all.
