with a rowdy Michigan rally, declaring it the most successful
first 100 days in Americanhistory.
But hold up.

(01:08):
Well, well, well.
Freedom comes with a mic dropmoment.

(01:28):
Mohsen Mahdawi, the 34-year-oldPalestinian Columbia University
student who was detained by ICEearlier this month, is now a
free man, and he's not stayingquiet about it.
According to the New York Post, mahdawi was released yesterday
following US District JudgeJeffrey Crawford's orders, with
the judge, stating he didn'tbelieve Mahdawi posed any risk

(01:48):
to the public or was a flightrisk.
What's particularly interestinghere is that Mahdawi has been a
legal permanent resident for adecade and was actually arrested
during an interview aboutfinalizing his US citizenship
Talk about timing.
The moment he stepped outsidethat Vermont courtroom, madawi
didn't mince words.
Quote I am saying it clear andloud to President Trump and his

(02:11):
cabinet I am not afraid of youFighting words from someone who
just experienced the full weightof government detention.
What makes this case politicallyexplosive is how Judge Crawford
framed it.
He compared the current wave ofmigrant detentions to
McCarthy-era politics and theRed Scare of the 1950s.
That's not exactly a flatteringhistorical parallel for the

(02:33):
administration.
The State Department, for theirpart, is sticking to their guns
.
They claim Madawi is removableunder immigration law, with
Secretary Rubio arguing hispresence would have serious
adverse foreign policyconsequences and compromise a
compelling US foreign policyinterest.
Strong words from the Secretaryof State, the heart of the

(02:54):
government's case.
They accuse Mahdawi of engagingin threatening rhetoric and
intimidation against Jewishstudents during protests at
Columbia.
Mahdawi's legal team flips thescript, claiming he was detained
as retaliation for leadingthose anti-Israel protests on
campus.
Under the judge's ordersMahdawi gets to keep his
permanent resident status, return to New York City,

(03:15):
continue his education andgraduate from Columbia Not
exactly the outcome theadministration was likely hoping
for.
For context, mahdawi wasn'tjust any student protester.
He was co-president of ColumbiaStudents for Justice in
Palestine, which helped leadthose campus protests against
the Gaza War.
The group has since beensuspended by the university.

(03:36):
Outside the courthouse, madawiled Free Palestine chants and
called on people to defend freespeech, telling supporters never
give up on the idea thatjustice will prevail.
We want to stand up forhumanity, because the rest of
the world, not only Palestine,is watching us.
This case sits at theintersection of immigration
policy, free speech, campusprotests and foreign policy

(03:58):
interests A perfect politicalstorm that's unlikely to quiet
down anytime soon.
The administration now faces ajudicial rebuke at a time when
their immigration enforcementinitiatives have been one of
their higher pollingachievements.
We ain't seen nothing yet.
That was the battle cry fromPresident Trump.
At his fired-up Michigan rallyTuesday night, where he

(04:19):
celebrated the first 100 days ofhis second term with
characteristic bravado, thecommander-in-chief didn't hold
back folks telling the crowd ofroughly 4,000 supporters that
his administration hasaccomplished more in three
months than most administrationsaccomplish in four years or
even eight years, and he madesure everyone knew this is just

(04:40):
the appetizer.
Believe me, we're just gettingstarted.
Trump emphasized to thunderousapplause at the Macomb Sports
and Expo Center in Warren,michigan.
Immigration took center stageduring his 90-minute speech,
with Trump declaring underPresident Trump, america is a
dumping ground for criminals nolonger.
He even unveiled what the NewYork Post described as a

(05:03):
dramatic video showing deportedgang members arriving at El
Salvador's notorious HellholeMega Prison, which reportedly
had the crowd absolutely eatingit up.
Despite some bruising pollnumbers lately, immigration
remains Trump's strongest issue, with voters with approval
hovering around 50%.
On his handling of the border,I banned all welfare to illegals

(05:25):
and I signed an order that willend automatic citizenship for
the children of illegal aliens.
No citizenship, he touted toCheers, taking direct aim at his
predecessor, trump claimed.
For years, joe Biden and themedia told us that stopping the
flood of illegal immigration wasabsolutely impossible.
He said it was impossible.
He didn't know what the hell hewas talking about.

(05:47):
It turned out that all weneeded was a new president.
The setting itself looked likesomething straight out of a
campaign rally rather than apresidential address, with walls
plastered with gigantic signsproclaiming jobs, jobs, jobs,
the golden age, buy American, hire American investing in
America and the American dreamis back.

(06:07):
Trump zeroed in on Michigan'sauto industry, promising the
Heartland audience that a lot ofauto jobs are coming back to
the state.
They all want to come back toMichigan to build cars again
because of our tax and tariffpolicy.
He claimed positioning himselfas the champion of American
manufacturing against globalistpolicies.
After decades of politicianswho destroyed Detroit to build

(06:30):
up Beijing, you finally have achampion for workers in the
White House.
Trump proclaimed.
And instead of putting Chinafirst, I'm putting Michigan
first and putting America first.
The president brought severaladministration officials on
stage during the event, including Defense Secretary Pete
Hegseth and top advisor MargoMartin, who got the crowd

(06:51):
buzzing by teasing Trump 2028,anybody Conservative.
Cnn analyst Scott Jennings alsomade an appearance, joking that
I gotta get a farm in Michigan, because when you own as many
libs as I do, you gotta get aplace to put them all.
Looking ahead, trump promisedhis one big, beautiful bill,
which House Speaker Mike Johnsonhopes to pass by July 4th,

(07:13):
would deliver the largest taxcuts in American history, and
that will include no tax on tips, no tax on Social Security, no
tax on overtime.
He also doubled down onoutgoing Doge chief Elon Musk's
pledge to cut more than $1trillion in wasteful and
unnecessary spending.
In classic Trump fashion, hewrapped up with big promises.

(07:36):
We're going to have somethingthat you won't even believe.
Well, the economic honeymoonappears to be over for the
second Trump administration,folks.
New data released yesterdayshows the US economy contracted
at a 0.3% annualized pace in thefirst quarter of 2025.
This marks the first quarter ofnegative growth since early

(07:57):
2022,.
This marks the first quarter ofnegative growth since early
2022, and it sent marketstumbling.
President Trump wasted no timeresponding on Truth.
Social writing no-transcript.
The president went on to defendhis tariff policies, claiming
they'll soon kick in and thatcompanies are already moving

(08:19):
into the USA in record numbers.
Trump urged patience, writingin all caps that the economic
issues have nothing to do withtariffs, and promised that when
the boom begins, it will be likeno other.
But here's where things getinteresting.
According to the CommerceDepartment report, a major
factor in the GDP decline wasactually a surge in imports,

(08:41):
with companies rushing to stockup ahead of Trump's promised
tariffs.
Another contributor was reducedgovernment spending,
particularly in defense.
This attempt to distancehimself from economic troubles
stands in stark contrast toTrump's position.
Just a few months ago, back inJanuary, when markets were
soaring during Biden's finaldays in office, candidate Trump

(09:01):
declared on social media this isthe Trump stock market, because
my polls against Biden are sogood that investors are
projecting that I will win.
Economic experts are alsochallenging Trump's inflation
claims.
Just yesterday, at his Michiganrally, trump boasted that
prices are coming way down andtook credit for it.
However, the same GDP reportshowed the Fed's preferred

(09:24):
inflation measure actuallyjumped to 3.6% in Q1, up
significantly from 2.4% in theprevious quarter.
Meanwhile, a separate reportreleased yesterday showed
private payrolls increased byjust 62,000 in April, less than
half of what economists expectedand the smallest gain since
July 2024.
Many analysts are pointingdirectly to uncertainty

(09:48):
surrounding Trump's tariffpolicies as the cause for both
the employment slowdown andplummeting consumer confidence.
Former Biden White Housespokesman Andrew Bates didn't
mince words, saying Trumpinherited the best performing
economy in the world that wasleaving other wealthy nations in
the dust, and that now we'replummeting toward a Trump

(10:08):
session.
The economic data couldn't comeat a worse time for the
president, who's scheduled tomeet with more than two dozen
business leaders at the WhiteHouse today.
It'll be fascinating to see howthe administration navigates
this messaging challenge, takingcredit for good news while
deflecting blame for troublingindicators as we move deeper
into Trump's second term.
Well, that's all we've got timefor today.

(10:31):
Folks From a PalestinianColumbia student sending a
defiant message to Trump afterbeing freed from ICE custody, to
the president's victory lap athis Michigan 100-day rally.
And finally those concerningGDP numbers showing economic
contraction.
It's clear the second Trumpterm is already delivering
plenty of drama.
The intersection of immigrationenforcement, presidential

(10:52):
promises and economic realitywill continue to define this
administration in the monthsahead.
As we've seen today, therhetoric often doesn't match the
numbers and the finger-pointinggame is already in full swing,
less than four months in.
