America's political landscape is shifting before our eyes while markets reel from bold economic policies. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk's government-slashing experiment, has citizens deeply divided – with some praising its claimed $130 billion in savings while others condemn what they call a "sledgehammer approach" to complex problems. Fox News surveys reveal a fascinating contradiction: most Americans believe government spending is wasteful, yet a majority oppose cutting government jobs.

Meanwhile, President Trump has coined a new term for nervous investors as markets experience their worst two-day slide since 2020 – don't be "panicans." As the Dow, S&P 500, and NASDAQ tumble for a third straight day following his sweeping tariff announcements, Trump remains defiant, insisting short-term pain will yield long-term American prosperity. Though he hints at flexibility with allies like Japan, China appears firmly in his crosshairs despite their 34% retaliatory tariffs.

Beyond economic battles, we're witnessing unprecedented infrastructure challenges as tech giants demand more electricity than entire utilities can currently produce. AI data centers are creating a planning nightmare for power companies caught between risking blackouts or potentially overbuilding on ratepayers' dime. Most alarming of all – Russian spy sensors have been discovered tracking Britain's nuclear submarines in UK waters as part of a Putin-directed "grey zone warfare" campaign, with super yachts owned by oligarchs reportedly serving as floating spy platforms. This Cold War throwback reveals the evolving nature of modern security threats beneath seemingly calm surfaces.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello America.
Joc, here with your rantingpolitics headline updates, where
we are diving into today's mostexplosive political stories
that you need to know aboutComing up.
Americans are giving ElonMusk's Department of Government
Efficiency some wildly mixedreviews in its first 100 days.
Some think it's revolutionary, while others are calling it a

(00:23):
sledgehammer approach todelicate problems.
Then, as markets continue theirnosedive for a third straight
day, trump is telling Americansnot to be what he's calling
panic hands about his tariffpolicies.
We'll break down what thismeans for your wallet.
Plus.
There's a power strugglebrewing across America as big
tech's insatiable appetite forelectricity to feed AI data

(00:45):
centers has utility companiessweating bullets.
And if that wasn't enoughtension, we've got a Cold War
throwback, with Russian spysensors discovered tracking
Britain's nuclear submarinesright in UK waters.
Yes, you heard that correctly.
Putin's playing underwaterchess while the West is just
figuring out the board.
Stick around for all this andmore in your daily dose of

(01:06):
unfiltered news and common sensecommentary.
This is Ranting PoliticsHeadline Updates.
Talk about your governmentefficiency report card.

(01:39):
Americans across the country aregiving some seriously mixed
grades to Trump's Department ofGovernment Efficiency, or DOGE,
led by tech billionaire ElonMusk.
According to Fox News Digital, which conducted interviews in
Knoxville, dc, detroit andHouston.
Citizens are deeply divided onwhether this government-slashing
experiment deserves an A or anF.
Some folks, like Candace inDetroit, are absolutely thrilled
with the initiative, calling itfantastic and pointing out that
government waste has been goingon for decades.

(02:00):
She even mentioned that Obamatried tackling this back in 2011
, but claimed no one ever didanything about it.
Matt from Tennessee seems toagree giving Doge a solid B
grade, but hold your horses, noteveryone's drinking the
efficiency Kool-Aid.
Micah in DC slapped Doge with abig fat F, saying they've

(02:20):
wholesale damaged our nation'ssystem of government.
Art from the Capitol didn'tmince words either, calling
their performance very, verypoor and criticizing their
sledgehammer approach.
Richard in Houston went evenfurther, describing Doge as the
worst thing to ever happen toour country.
Talk about not holding back.
According to Doge's own claims, they've saved Americans $130

(02:43):
billion so far.
That's about $807 per taxpayer.
They've been busy cancelingdiversity initiatives,
consulting contracts, leases forunderused federal buildings and
what they call duplicateagencies and programs.
Here's where it getsinteresting, though.
A recent Fox News survey showsAmericans are caught in a
contradictory mindset.
A recent Fox News survey showsAmericans are caught in a

(03:04):
contradictory mindset.
While most think the nationaldebt is a crisis and that
government spending is wastefuland inefficient.
A slim majority actuallyopposes cutting government jobs.
About 56% disapprove of how theTrump administration is
identifying and reducingwasteful spending and a whopping
65% worry there's not enoughplanning going into these cuts.

(03:24):
Even Republicans aren't totallyunited behind the effort 39%
share the same concerns as mostDemocrats and independents about
how the reductions are beingimplemented.
As for Musk himself, only 40%approve of his dogework, while
58% disapprove.
Just this Monday, the LaborDepartment announced they're
returning $1.4 billion in unusedCOVID funding back to taxpayers

(03:49):
, while trying to recoveranother $2.9 billion.
Is this proof that Doge isworking or just low-hanging
fruit?
That grade, my friends, probably depends on which side
of the political aisle you'resitting on.
Buckle up America, becausePresident Trump is telling folks
to hold steady as his tarifftsunami rocks the markets for a

(04:09):
third straight day.
The commander-in-chief took toTruth Social Monday morning with
some colorful advice forjittery investors Don't be weak,
don't be stupid, don't be apanican.
Yes, you heard that right.
Trump just invented a newpolitical party for the
faint-hearted.
According to the president, panicans are a new party based

(04:30):
on weak and stupid people.
Instead, he's urging Americansto be strong, courageous and
patient and promises greatnesswill be the result.
Well, the markets weren'texactly convinced by the
presidential pep talk.
Within just 30 minutes of WallStreet's opening bell, the Dow
Jones and S&P 500 both plungedmore than 2%, while the

(04:50):
tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped 1.65%.
This comes after a brutal endto last week, when the S&P 500
nosedived 10.5% over Thursdayand Friday, its worst two-day
performance since the COVIDcrash of March 2020.
The NASDAQ took an even harderhit, falling 11.4%, while the

(05:11):
Dow dipped 8.1%.
Behind all this market mayhemis Trump's sweeping tariff
package, which includes a 10%minimum base tariff on most
imports and significantly higherlevies on certain countries.
The president doubled down onhis trade policy Monday, while
hinting there might be somewiggle room, at least for
certain allies.
Trump revealed he spoke withJapanese Prime Minister Shigeru

(05:33):
Ishiba that morning, who'ssending a top team to negotiate
the hefty 24% tariff slapped onJapanese goods.
They have treated the US verypoorly on trade.
Trump declared they don't takeour cars, but we take millions
of theirs, likewise agricultureand many other things.
Don't expect any olive branchesextended to Beijing, though.

(05:54):
China, which has alreadyretaliated with 34% tariffs on
American goods, won't get a dealuntil the US solves its trade
deficit with them.
According to Trump, as hebluntly put it, it all has to
change, but especially withChina.
When asked Sunday evening howfar the markets would need to
fall before he'd considerbacking down, trump didn't mince

(06:15):
words.
I think your question is sostupid.
I don't want anything to godown, but sometimes you have to
take medicine to fix something.
Meanwhile, trump's economicteam seems to be sending mixed
signals about the tariff'sduration.
Commerce Secretary HowardLutnick is painting a rosy
picture of trillions of dollarsof factories being built in
America due to the policy shift, while Economic Council Director

(06:39):
Kevin Hassett emphasized thatover 50 countries have reached
out to negotiate lifting thetariffs.
The big question remains isthis short-term pain for
long-term gain, or is Americastrapped in for a prolonged
economic rollercoaster ride?
Either way, according to theNew York Post, the president's
message is clear Don't panic orrisk being labeled a panic hand.

sponsor, whose support helpsmake this show possible.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Hold on to your power strips, folks, because
America's electric grid isfacing an unprecedented
challenge from the tech giant'sinsatiable hunger for
electricity.
According to a Reuters report, utilities across the country are
being bombarded with massivepower requests from big tech
companies looking to build datacenters for their AI operations.
And the numbers are absolutelystaggering.

(08:42):
A survey of 13 major USelectric utilities found nearly
half have received inquiries forvolumes of power that would
exceed their entire peak demandor existing generation capacity.
That's right.
These tech companies are askingfor more electricity than these
utilities currently provide toall their existing customers

(09:02):
combined.
Take SEMPRA's Texas subsidiary, encore Electric, which serves
the Dallas area.
They've received requests toconnect an additional 119
gigawatts of power, nearly fourtimes what their system
currently handles at peak usage.
Over in Pennsylvania, ppl hasfielded requests for more than
50 gigawatts, including at leastnine gigawatts in advanced

(09:26):
development stages.
That's higher than theircurrent generation capacity of
7.2 gigawatts.
This puts utilities in aclassic damned if you do, damned
if you don't situation.
If they underestimate thecoming demand, we could see an
unstable electrical grid.
This puts utilities in aclassic damned-if-you-do,
damned-if-you-don't situation.
If they underestimate thecoming demand, we could see an
unstable electrical grid withincreased blackout risks If they

(09:47):
overbuild, guess who picks upthe tab?
That's right, you and me, therate-paying public.
What's making this planningnightmare even worse is the tech
industry's shotgun approach tosite selection.
Companies are approachingmultiple power providers across
different states, seekingcompeting bids for the same
project.
This effectively inflates powerdemand forecasts, making it
nearly impossible for utilitiesto predict what's actually

(10:08):
coming.
As John Gordon from the cleanenergy trade group Advanced
Energy United put it, what we'reseeing is this huge proposed
influx of these abstractprojects that.
James Richmond, ceo of energymanagement company E2 Companies,
explained the tech strategyplainly the data center process
is to have a competitive bidfrom three companies in many

(10:30):
markets that one-thirdautomatically is going to win
and two-thirds is going to dropout.
The situation has gotten soconfusing that Pennsylvania is
considering creating aclearinghouse for data center
power requests just to get ahandle on what's real and what's
speculative.
Jacob Finkel, deputy Secretaryof Policy for Governor Josh

(10:52):
Shapiro, admitted it's somethingthat we're looking at pretty
intensely.
Adding to the uncertainty areskyrocketing construction costs
and potential technology shifts.
Building a megawatt of datacenter capacity cost nearly $12
million in 2024, and that pricetag has only increased since
then.
Trump's tariffs on materialslike steel, are expected to

(11:14):
drive those costs even higher.
There's also a wild card in thedeck emerging AI models like
DeepSeek that promise to requiresignificantly less computing
power, which could mean muchless electricity needed in the
future.
Td Cowan analysts recentlyreported that Microsoft, one of
the world's biggest AI spenders, with $80 billion planned this

(11:35):
year, has already pulled backfrom projects representing two
gigawatts of electricity in justthe last six months.
As utilities announce billionsin additional capital spending
to meet this potential demand.
The big question remainselectricity in just the last six
months, as utilities announcebillions in additional capital
spending to meet this potentialdemand, the big question remains
are we witnessing the birth ofa new energy-hungry digital era,
or are we setting ourselves upfor a costly overbuild?

(11:55):
The answer, like yoursmartphone battery life, remains
frustratingly uncertain.
In what sounds like a Cold Warsequel with modern surveillance
tech, russian spy sensors havebeen discovered tracking the
United Kingdom's nuclearsubmarine fleet right in British
waters.
According to an alarming reportfrom the Sunday Times, this

(12:15):
discovery has been kept underwraps, despite military
officials considering it aserious national security threat
.
The Royal Navy has found thesespy devices lurking in waterways
surrounding the UK, raisingfears that the Kremlin's covert
operation aims to monitor andpotentially sabotage critical
British infrastructure,including the country's four
Vanguard submarines that carrynuclear missiles.

(12:36):
One senior military sourcedidn't mince words, stating
there should be no doubt thereis a war raging in the Atlantic.
This is a game of cat and mousethat has continued since the
ending of the Cold War and isnow heating up again.
We are seeing phenomenalamounts of Russian activity.
Intelligence suggests thisisn't just random spying, but
part of a coordinated gray zonewarfare campaign personally

(12:59):
directed by Vladimir Putin.
Beyond the submarine trackingsensors, officials have
discovered additional covertequipment planted on the seabed,
spy gear washing up on Britishshores and unmanned Russian
vehicles suspiciously positionednear deep-sea communications
cables.
Even more concerning 11underwater cables in the Baltic
Sea have been damaged over thepast 15 months.

(13:20):
A senior source revealed thatBritain relies on 60 internet
cables connecting it to theoutside world, some of which
aren't even publicly known.
In a particularly brazen move, british intelligence indicates
that super yachts owned byRussian oligarchs have been
deployed as floating spyplatforms to conduct underwater
surveillance operations.

(13:41):
Captain Simon Presti explainedthe military's response.
Our role is to both defeat anythreats to the UK as well as
take it out of the grey zone.
We do the latter byunderstanding who is involved
and providing that evidence toavoid misunderstandings and make
those who threaten the UKaccountable for their actions.
While Russian vessels operatingin UK waters isn't exactly

(14:04):
breaking news, the government isnow scrambling to secure
funding from technology andenergy companies to help protect
underwater infrastructure.
In the immediate term, themilitary is launching a project
codenamed Cabot, to bolsterresources through partnerships
with private industriesdependent on underwater
infrastructure.
Some Navy sources areadvocating for more extreme

(14:25):
measures, suggesting the UKshould deploy sea mines, a
defensive strategy not usedsince the Cold War ended.
The Ministry of Defenseresponded with a statement
emphasizing their commitment tosecurity.
We are committed to enhancingthe security of critical
offshore infrastructure.
Alongside our NATO and JointExpeditionary Force allies, we

(14:45):
are strengthening our responseto ensure that Russian ships and
aircraft cannot operate insecrecy near the UK or near NATO
territory.
For now, britain's continuousat sea nuclear deterrent
continues to patrol the world'soceans as it has done for the
past 56 years, though perhaps nolonger quite as undetected as
they'd like to believe.

(15:07):
And that wraps up today'sranting politics headline
updates.
What a news day we've had fromAmericans giving Elon Musk's
government efficiency departmentevery grade from A to F to
Trump, telling panickedinvestors not to be panikins
while markets tumble.
For a third straight day, we'veseen utilities struggling to
handle big tech's insatiablehunger for power as AI data

(15:30):
centers multiply, and discoveredthat Putin's Russia is playing
underwater spy games withBritain's nuclear submarine
fleet.
