While health advocates celebrate this long-overdue ban on eight petroleum-based additives, food manufacturers are scrambling to find alternatives before the 2026 deadline.

food dyes that have been turningour kids into walking science
experiments for decades.
Treasury Secretary Besant isdangling the possibility of a

(00:25):
beautiful rebalancing with China, whatever the heck that means.
Meanwhile, jd Vance is playinghardball with Russia and Ukraine
, basically saying take our dealor we're out of here.
Down in New Mexico a judge gotthe permanent boot after an
alleged gang member was foundcrashing at his family's pad.
And get this.

(00:45):
A Michigan dentist is fightingback against mandatory implicit
bias training that apparentlyteaches only some folks can be
racist.

(01:31):
Breaking news from the FDA thisweek, as health officials
announced, they're phasing outeight petroleum-based artificial
color additives from theAmerican food supply by the end
of 2026.
This is a massive shift that'sgoing to completely transform
how many of your favoritecolorful grocery products look
in the coming years.
Fda Commissioner Marty Macarididn't mince words at the press
conference saying they'reestablishing a timeline for food

(01:53):
manufacturers to switch tonatural alternatives.
The targeted dyes include thosefamiliar numbers you've
probably seen on ingredientlists red 40, yellow 5 and 6,
blue 1 and 2, green 3, citrusred 2, and orange.
B Macri went full dramatic mode, claiming For the last 50 years
we have been running one of thelargest uncontrolled scientific

(02:14):
experiments in the world on ournation's children without their
consent.
Tell us how you really feel, commissioner.
Health advocates have beenpushing for this move for
decades, pointing to researchsuggesting these artificial dyes
might contribute tohyperactivity and attention
problems in some kids.
Meanwhile, europe and Canadahave already started shifting

(02:35):
away from synthetic colors, often using warning labels that
essentially scared manufacturersinto finding alternatives.
Not everyone's thrilled aboutthis move, though.
Industry groups are freakingout, with the International
Association of ColorManufacturers warning there
aren't enough alternativesavailable and the National
Confectioners Associationpractically begging for more

(02:57):
time to find viable substitutes.
Food activist Vani Hari, betterknown as Food Babe, called this
a new era in safe food forchildren, while former FDA
official Dr Peter Lurie didn'thold back saying the DAI's only
purpose is to make foodcompanies money by making
ultra-processed foods moreattractive to kids.

(03:19):
Some companies are alreadyvoluntarily jumping on board,
with dairy producers pledging toremove artificial colors from
school-supplied milk, cheese andyogurt by mid-2026.
As reported by Newsweek lookslike the days of unnaturally
vibrant cereal and candy arenumbered.
In.
What could signal a major shiftin US-China economic relations,

(03:41):
treasury Secretary Scott Besantis extending what appears to be
an olive branch to Beijing.
Speaking Wednesday at theInstitute of International Trade
and Finance in Washington, besant suggested there's room
for a substantial tradeagreement between the world's
two largest economies.
There is an opportunity for abig deal here, besant told

(04:01):
attendees using surprisinglyoptimistic language that stands
in contrast to the moreconfrontational tone we've heard
in recent years.
If they want to rebalance, let's do it together.
The Treasury Secretary evenchanneled famous investor Ray
Dalio in his remarks saying Ithink if Bridgewater founder Ray
Dalio were to write something,he could call it a beautiful

(04:22):
rebalancing.
This potential thawing inrelations comes as many American
businesses continue to voiceconcerns about tariffs, supply
chain disruptions and marketaccess restrictions that have
complicated US-China tradedynamics in recent years.
While Besant didn't offerspecific details about what such
a deal might include.

(04:42):
His comments suggest theadministration may be looking
for pragmatic solutions ratherthan escalating trade tensions.
The timing is particularlyinteresting, given ongoing
concerns about China's economicslowdown and discussions about
additional tariffs that had beenfloated earlier this year, as
reported by CNBC.
Besson's comments offer aglimpse into what could be a

(05:03):
more cooperative approach toaddressing trade imbalances that
have been a point of contentionfor multiple administrations.
Vice President JD Vance istaking a hard-line stance on
Russia-Ukraine peace talks, essentially telling both nations
it's now or never.
Speaking to reporters duringhis diplomatic visit to India on

(05:24):
Wednesday, vance didn't mincewords about the administration's
patience wearing thin.
We've issued a very explicitproposal to both the Russians
and Ukrainians and it's time forthem to either say yes or for
the US to walk away from thisprocess, vance declared bluntly.
We've engaged in anextraordinary amount of
diplomacy.
This ultimatum comes ahead ofcritical negotiations scheduled

(05:47):
in London, where PresidentTrump's proposal, described by
insiders as his final offer, ison the table.
Secretary of State Marco Rubiowas notably absent from these
discussions, with Trump'sspecial envoy, keith Kellogg,
representing American interestsinstead.
According to reporting from theNew York Post and Axios, the
peace plan contains severalcontroversial provisions that

(06:10):
would drastically reshape theconflict's resolution, the US
expects Ukraine to acceptofficial American recognition of
Crimea as Russian territory, along with de facto recognition
of most areas Russia hasoccupied since its 2022 invasion
.
The deal would also permanentlybar Ukraine from NATO
membership, a major concessionthough.

(06:31):
It could potentially join theEuropean Union.
In exchange, ukraine wouldreceive what's being described
as a robust security guaranteefrom various European and
non-European countries, thoughspecifics remain unclear.
Economic components of theproposal include lifting all
sanctions imposed on Russiasince 2014 and pledges of

(06:52):
increased economic cooperationbetween Washington and Moscow,
particularly in energyproduction.
Ukraine would regain a smallportion of Kharkiv Oblast,
currently occupied by Russia, and secure complete access to
the Dnieper River, along withunspecified funding for
rebuilding efforts.
This aggressive push forresolution follows a meeting

(07:13):
last week between American, british, german and French
leaders, where the plan wasdiscussed.
With Vance's latest comments, the pressure is mounting on both
, warring nations to acceptterms that would effectively
cement many of Russia'sterritorial gains, while
attempting to provide Ukrainewith alternative security
arrangements.
In a stunning development fromNew Mexico, the state's Supreme

(07:35):
Court has permanently bannedformer Judge Joel Cano from ever
returning to the bench after analleged member of the notorious
Trendy Aragua gang was arrestedat his home earlier this year.
The court's order wasunambiguous and sweeping in its
scope, according to aspokesperson from the
administrative office of thecourts.
In its scope According to aspokesperson from the
Administrative Office of theCourts, cano can never hold a

(07:59):
judicial office again, be acandidate for a judicial office
and cannot exercise any judicialauthority in the state,
including officiating atweddings.
This harsh punishmenteffectively ends any possibility
of Cano's return to thejudiciary.
The former Doña Ana CountyMagistrate Court Judge had
already submitted hisresignation back in March, but
the circumstances surroundinghis departure have raised

(08:20):
serious concerns about judgmentand associations.
According to Fox News reporting, the trouble began in January
when Homeland Securityinvestigations in Las Cruces
started investigating Venezuelannative Cristian Ortega Lopez,
described in court documents asan illegal alien from Venezuela
and a suspected member of acriminal gang who was residing

(08:44):
with other illegal aliens and inpossession of firearms.
The investigation culminated onFebruary 28th when federal
agents executed search warrantsat a property owned by Cano's
wife, nancy.
During the raid, authoritiesdetained Ortega-Lopez and his
roommates, seizing four firearmsfrom the residence.
Court documents reveal thatOrtega-Lopez admitted to

(09:05):
illegally entering the UnitedStates from Mexico in December
2023.
The alleged gang member toldinvestigators he initially met
Nancy Cano while installing aglass door for her in El Paso.
After performing several jobsfor her and being evicted from
his apartment in April 2024,nancy Cano reportedly offered

(09:26):
him accommodation in a casitalocated on the property.
She to April Cano, the daughterof Nancy and Joel, who
reportedly allowed him to holdand sometimes shoot various

(09:48):
firearms.
The court was originallyscheduled to hear oral arguments
on disciplinary cases thisThursday, but that hearing has
been vacated.
Now that Cano's case has beenresolved, with this permanent
ban from judicial service, aMichigan dentist with 40 years
of experience is taking a standagainst what he sees as
government overreach in hisprofession.

(10:09):
Dr Kent Wildern has filed alawsuit against the state of
Michigan over mandatory implicitbias training that Governor
Gretchen Whitmer implemented inthe wake of George Floyd's death
in 2020.
Rather than comply with therequirement, wildern made the
difficult decision to surrenderhis dental license in 2021.
Speaking exclusively to the NewYork Post, he explained his

(10:31):
reasoning.
Everybody needs to listen toMartin Luther King from way back
in the day.
It's who you are, not whatcolor you are At 71 years old,
wildern has an impressive careerhistory that began in childhood
.
I've worked in the healthcareindustry since I was a boy.
I worked at my dad's pharmacyat nine.
I was an Eagle Scout by thetime I was 13,.

(10:52):
He told the Post, despitegiving up his license, he still
has a desire to return todentistry, saying simply I like
taking care of people.
The controversial trainingrequirement affects
approximately 400,000 Michiganhealth professionals across
various fields.
It stems from ExecutiveDirective 2027, issued by
Governor Whitmer in July 2020,just two months after Floyd's

(11:15):
death and one month after shemarched with Black Lives Matter
protesters.
Wildern is being represented bythe Pacific Legal Foundation,
whose attorney, david Hoffa, argues the training rule exceeds
the Department of Licensing andRegulatory Affairs authority.
We just don't find that there'sany lawful authority granted by
the legislature to Lara to makethat type of rule.
What particularly troubledWildern and others about the

(11:37):
training was its assertion thatonly certain groups can be
racist.
One training module definesracism as the systematic
subordination of members oftargeted racial groups who have
relatively little social powerby members of the agent racial
group who have relatively moresocial power.
Another health professional,chiropractor Garrett Soldano,

(11:59):
who continues to practicedespite his objections, was
blunt in his assessment.
It's freaking garbage.
You're basically telling everyhealthcare professional in the
state of Michigan that they'reracist and accusing us that we
base our care schedule on racistbias.
Michigan has already finednon-compliant professionals
between $125 and $2,500 andsuspended some licenses,

(12:23):
underscoring the seriousconsequences for those who
refuse to participate in thetraining.
And that's a wrap on today'sRanting Politics headline
updates.
What a news day we've had, fromfood dyes getting the boot to
high-stakes internationalnegotiations and some serious
domestic legal battles.
