Healing requires openness, trust, and presence – three elements that massage therapist, reflexologist, and Reiki master Tina Meyer has masterfully cultivated over her 25-year career. In this deeply insightful conversation, Tina reveals how she intuitively tailors each session to meet her clients' evolving needs, often shifting between modalities as their energy dictates.

The power of breath emerges as a central theme throughout our discussion. When clients arrive with emotional shields up, Tina demonstrates how simple breathing techniques can create openings for profound healing. These moments of presence – often just three conscious breaths while holding a reflexology point – can dissolve resistance more effectively than complex techniques.

Reflexology enthusiasts will appreciate Tina's clear explanation of how this powerful modality works through specific points on the hands, feet, and ears that correspond to every part of the body. "What I love about reflexology is that it can be extremely targeted," Tina shares, noting how she can address everything from physical ailments to emotional trauma through precise touch. Her description of combining reflexology with massage creates a beautiful picture of complementary approaches – starting with reflexology to work the entire body through the hands or feet before moving to massage, with Reiki energy healing as "the icing on the cake."

The conversation takes a fascinating turn when Tina discusses intuition in healing work. After decades of practice, she's learned to trust the subtle guidance that directs her hands precisely where healing is needed. This intuitive connection transcends technique, creating powerful healing experiences that clients often can't explain but deeply feel.

Whether you're an experienced wellness practitioner or simply curious about holistic approaches to health, Tina's practical wisdom offers accessible entry points for everyone. Her reminder that even five minutes of intentional self-care can shift your entire day provides hope for even the busiest listeners. Okay, so I am super, superexcited to be talking with Tina
Mayer today.
We have already highlighted hergreatness and the wonderful
accomplishments that she's hadCan.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
I just stop you real quick, tina Mayer, mayer, okay
let's start again, all right,okay?

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Oh my gosh, I am super excited to have Tina Mayer
with us Today.
You've heard the introduction, her great accomplishments.
Oh my gosh, I am super excitedto have Tina Meyer with us today
.
You've heard the introduction, her great accomplishments, and
we're going to get right into it, as we usually do.
So the first question I alwaysask everyone, tina, is what does
healing mean to you?

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Healing, oh, my goodness, I feel that healing,
first of all, hello everybody,it's nice to be here with you.
And healing, that's a big one,because it's not just a simple,
you know, answer.
Healing to me is very personal.
There's all kinds of differenthealing in regards to there's,

(03:23):
you know, spiritual healing, physical healing, mental healing
, you know, the list goes on.
So there is a lot that goes inwith.
What does healing mean to me?
I feel that the person that isbeing healed needs to be open to
accepting the healing.
You know, in my experience I'veI've seen both where I've had

(03:47):
clients walk in and they're justopen.
They're like, bring it on, Iwant this so bad, and the
session goes perfect.
And then I have the naysayers.
The ones that walk in are alittle bit closed and I can tell
I can almost bet money thatthose people will probably, you
know, they're not going toaccept it into their bodies.

(04:08):
So, um, so, and healing is?
You know, healing can be a walkon the beach and you can be
healed so there is a lot thathas to do with healing and yeah,
I, I, yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
I'm actually, you know, based on what you just
said.
It's interesting because I toohave, you know, experienced.
When your client comes in, theycall you, they're very excited,
they want change, they wantsomething, but you know they are
a little apprehensive.
Or you know they are a littleapprehensive, or you know a
little on the fence of is thisgoing to work?
When I'm talking specifically, you know about Reiki itself and

(04:54):
do you do you?
How do you find working withsomeone when you can, the whole
time you're feeling like this isnot, nothing's happening, know,
it's not.
I can feel that that shield, shields are up, right.
What is your process?
To help someone slowly, kind ofbring that shield a little

(05:16):
closer or dissipate it so thatthey do get some benefit out of
it?

Speaker 2 (05:28):
get some benefit out of it.
Breath I feel that breath isalways one of the best ways to
get somebody centered, getwhatever chatter it is that's in
their mind quieted down.
I try to bring it more into thesession, like perhaps I'll
start talking about what it isthat I'm doing the the session,
like perhaps I'll start talkingabout what it is that I'm doing
and the benefits that they couldreceive from it.

(05:50):
Um, that's on a, on a physical, outward speak in my mind or in
my body, and what I'm creatingfor them is just asking for, for
peace for them, asking for the.
You know the powers that be tocome in and help them to be a
little more more open, morereceiving to the, to the session
.

(06:12):
You know, however, I just keepcoming back to breath.
You know, you can just lay your.
If I can really feel thetension in their body that
they're just, it's, they're justI'll just lay my, I'll just
stop what I'm doing.
I'll lay my hands on them.
If I'm massaging, if I'm doingreflexology, there's a solar
plexus point.

(06:32):
I might come to the solarplexus point and just hold that
and just have them take threedeep, calming breaths, and that
actually will do the trick.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Wonderful, thank you.
Okay, so I do have somequestions here for you.
You know, based on everythingthat we we know about you.
So you've been practicing since1998.
So what first drew you tomassage therapy, reflexology and
Reiki?

Speaker 2 (07:09):
you to massage, therapy, reflexology and Reiki.
Well, kind of a fun story.
It really started with myfamily and my friends.
We would get together.
I've always been a touchy, feelyperson.
I'm a hugger, I you know.
When I talk with you, I alwaysput my hands on your shoulders.
So I've always been veryengaged with being physical and
when we would get together, likeI said, either with family or

(07:30):
my friends, it always seemedlike we would end up in a
massage train.
You know, somebody would bebehind me, I'd be in front of
somebody and we'd be rubbingeach other's shoulders or
rubbing each other's feet.
So I've always been verysensory, like I just had a
memory come into my mind with myvery best friend that I've
known since birth and blessedthat I still know her today.

(07:51):
We used to sit on the bed andwith our, our hairbrushes and
like brush each other's backsbecause it just felt so good.
So I mean, that goes way backto, oh, you know, 20 years ago
when we were children.
But yeah that you know, I'vealways just been very sensory

(08:12):
and and it's just, it justblossomed into where I'm at
today.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
That's beautiful.
So how actually have yourpractices evolved over the years
, especially with your multimodality approach?

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Well, let's see, I just you know experience, I
think, just getting out thereand the fact that I've been
doing it for so long and youknow if, if I receive a massage
and there's something thatsomebody does to me that might
spark me to go look into thatand I'm just constantly growing.

(08:54):
I started with massage back in1998.
I added reflexology, probablyin 2000, say 15, maybe 10, 15.
I've been involved in thereflexology for longer than that
, but professionally it wasprobably around 2015.
And then Reiki has always kindof been that.
The energy healing has kind ofalways been with me.

(09:14):
I just it just has evolved intowhere it's at today.
So I think just the fact thatyou know constantly and they're
doing it and and being, you know, exposed to it has really
helped me be who I am today.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
So I just actually was going to ask this question
off the top of my head, but it'shere, so I'll ask it.
This way you tailor eachsession sorry to the client's.
You know current needs.
So how do you intuitively orpractically decide like, what,
what they need in the momentwhen they're?
You know they may call you andsay, hey, I want a Reiki session

(09:55):
.
And then they show up in yourroom and you're like, maybe you
need something else.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Yeah, exactly, and that's pretty much how it works.
I just it's that intuition.
It's just when I get a clientand you know, like you said,
they walk in thinking they'regoing to get one modality, and
then I hear their story and thiscould be a client that I've
seen for the last 15 years andshe always comes in and gets

(10:22):
massage, let's just say, andthen something shifts in that
session.
She walks in, she's been havingsome something going on in her
life to where I say, you know, Ireally think perhaps
reflexology will will be betterfor you today.
So, or you know, what are youopen to?

(10:44):
For me to just kind of quietyou down and do some relaxing
Reiki on you, just hands onReiki, just to kind of calm your
whole you know nervous systemdown.
Kind of neat that I do have thedifferent modalities.

(11:07):
I feel that you know massageand reflexology.
Reiki for me is the icing onthe cake.
Reiki for me is what it's kindof calms everything down, where
you know the massage and thereflexology.
That's the physical part ofwhat I do.
And what's beautiful with that?
Because I have got friends orcolleagues that are just massage
therapists and then I havecolleagues that are just

(11:31):
reflexologists.
But I feel that it's neat thatI'm both, because they they
marry well together.
They really really do.
I usually will do reflexologyfirst in a session.
If I'm going to do acombination, I'll do reflexology
first because that's basicallyand I know we'll get into that
in a little bit, but that'sbasically I can work the whole

(11:54):
body.
Let's say, on a hand, I canwork the whole body on a hand.
So by doing, let's say, theirhands, by reflexing their hands,
I've already worked their wholebody.
So then by the time I get tothe massage part of it, they're
already.
They're already done, they'realready relaxed.
Their muscles have been, youknow, there's no more tension in

(12:16):
their body, you know, musclesrelaxed.
So I just feel that thecombination of both really work
well.
And then, like I said, then youjust put the little cherry on
top with the reiki.
I call it infusing.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
I infuse my sessions with some reiki oh, I love that,
I love it, I love it, I love it.
And you also blend hot stones, aromatherapy and sound therapy.
Wow, that's a.
Your clients must be so happywhen they come to see you.
You know like they are, andthis is what happens, wow.

(12:48):
So how do these add to theexperience or the healing
outcome?

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Well, the hot rocks are just there.
You know, heat is always good.
So I use the hot rocks mostlyin my massage.
Now you can and I haven'texperienced this yet, but you
can bring rocks into reflexologyand, as I said, I haven't
experienced or haven't done thatmyself yet, but that is an

(13:15):
option.
But with massage I just bringin the hot rocks, I lay the
rocks on their back just to warmtheir muscles up.
I use the rocks in my hands togo through and work the muscles
with the rocks in my hands.
You know you can use it allover the body on the legs, on
the arms, up and through theneck.
There's even little stones thatyou can use on your face.

(13:37):
So it just it's.
It's just another, anotherlayer of of what we can peel
away with using the hot rocks.
It's just another way to getdeeper and deeper and deeper
into the muscles.
And then with the essentialoils, I just get called and I

(13:58):
know I can say that in thisforum because we're all the.
We're all the magicians herethe miracles.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
I love how you said that, yes.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
So I just get called to um use specific oils, and
sometimes I'll just stand thereand just think, okay, what is it
that I should bring in?
And it's like margarine.
So I'll just grab my bottle ofmargarine and I'll I'll use that
on on.
You know, lavender is auniversal oil, so that's always
good.
But I love infusing my, mysessions with the essential oils

(14:35):
.
I'll either, you know, blendthem with the, the carrier
carrier oil that I have in myhands.
I'll have them breathe it in,you know.
So there's all kinds ofwonderful things that you can do
with the essential oils.
And then the sound healing Ihave.
I should probably it's a chime,I have a chime, I call it the

(15:00):
fairy bells because it justsounds like little fairy bells.
And then I have a really nicebrass sound bowl that I'll use.
It's the vibration.
It's again, it's another form, another layer that you can get
into with the healing.
It all helps.
It's you know, if you cook I'mthinking of cooking analogies If

(15:24):
you cook, it's you know.
If you cook, I'm thinking ofcooking analogies.
If you cook, it's you know youcan make, you can find a recipe
and it says add A, b and C, butyou just know that this and
that's going to add even alittle bit more.
So it's kind of the same thing.
It's like, yes, a straightmassage is going to be great,
but oh, if I bring in a littlebit of essential oil, or oh, if
I rub them with the, with thehot rock, or oh, let me use the

(15:47):
little have a tuning fork.
You know you can get in thetuning fork, so all of that just
adds to the, to the experience, into the session.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
And I'm going to ask you a little bit more about a
couple of things, Because Ithink that most of us know what
massage is, and but let's talkmore about the reflexology.
I mean, I know the overallconcept of reflexology.
Like, we have certain points onour feet I didn't have hands,

(16:19):
to be honest, I was speakingabout the feet.
So what is reflexology?
How does it work?

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Wow, reflexology can actually be done in your feet,
your hands and your outer ears.
And there's even facereflexology, which I don't do,
that again I'll say yet.
But what I practice is the feet, the hands and the outer ears,
and it's based on the theorythat there is a map of our
bodies, our everything, everything from the top of our

(16:50):
head down to the tips of ourtoes, a map that is, I always
say, superimposed on your feet,on your hands and on your outer
ears.
The feet and the hands aresimilar because we have the palm
of our feet and our hands, wehave the back of our feet and
our hands, we have, you know, five digits on each.
I'll get to the ears in amoment, but very quickly.

(17:14):
So the map is superimposed onthe feet and the hands.
So anything from this point ofour toes and our fingers on up,
that represents everything fromthe neck on up, hmm, the soft
palm of your hand and of yourfeet, that's all your soft

(17:36):
organs, all of your organs, andthis is very brief.
Midlines, midlines.
This has to do with the midlineof our body, so it's the spinal
, the spinal column on theoutside of our feet and our
hands.
It has.
That represents our legs andour and our arms, and then then

(17:57):
there's all kinds of other stuffinvolved in there and the ears.
As I said, ears are a littlebit different.
It's almost like you have alittle body or a little embryo,
and if you just turn it upsidedown and superimpose it on the
ear, that's where all of thereflexology points are going to
be on the ear.
It's very complicated, or notcomplicated, but there's a lot

(18:18):
involved in that.
So I'll save that for thein-depth later.
But you will find all thesepoints, all these reflexology
points, on the feet, ears andthe outer ears, hand, feet,
hands and outer ears.
And then what happens is we gothrough and we do what's called
reflexing.
So we have different, differentstrokes, if you will, of

(18:41):
reflexing and we go through andwe reflex through these points,
these reflex points, and thatstimulates the area that it
represents in our body, workswith the central nervous system,
that works with the nerveendings and all the other.
You know that it works withcirculatory system and the
lymphatic system.

(19:02):
So it really targets and hitseverything that is involved in
the body.
What I love about reflexology isthat it can be extremely
targeted.
So if somebody comes to me andthey are having, I'm going to
say, kidney issues massage.

(19:24):
I can go in and I can give thema massage, but I'm not
necessarily going to bemassaging their kidney, but with
reflexology there is a form ofmassage that you can do.
This to keep it simple.
But with reflexology I can goright in and work the
reflexology point that has to dowith the kidneys and I can help

(19:48):
bring healing to and healing tothat part of the body.
So I love that part aboutreflexology that it can be very,
very targeted and you can workon just about anything that ails
you, be it physical, if it's aneck ache or a stomach ache or

(20:09):
an ear ache or a tooth ache, Ican do something reflexology
wise to help that.
If it's emotional, you knowPTSD, anxiety, depression I just
worked on a lady that hasmultiple sclerosis, so it's vast

(20:45):
of what we can work on throughon the feet, hands and ears
through reflexology.
There's no oil involved.
I, because I do massage, I havemy room set up so I have a
table which is where I have myclients.
But you can do it reclined, youknow, in a reclining chair, or

(21:08):
you know just at a chair, or ifI just see you and you say, oh
gosh, you know, my sinuses arereally bothering me today.
I can grab your hands or yourears and I can help you.
And you say oh gosh, you know,my, my sinuses are really
bothering me today.
I can grab your hands or yourears and I can help you with
your sinus issues, just likethat.
So reflexology is is I love it.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
That's incredible.
I actually didn't know, knowthat at all.
I didn't it's that, it's thatintense.
I mean, like I said, I have avery general view overview of
what reflexology is, and so I'mso glad that you were able to
say that, because there are someclients that are more nervous

(21:42):
about getting on a tableundressing, or they could be
allergic to the oils, you don'tknow what's going on.
But then to have something thatcan still give you a really
good release, or like you'retalking about anxiety and
depression, I didn't, I didn'tknow that you could use
reflexology for that.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Absolutely, and you brought up a really good point,
nina, in regards to somebodythat comes to me.
Like you said, that's a littlebit nervous or apprehensive.
You know that maybe they don'twant to take off their clothes,
they don't want to get undressed, they're very nervous about
having somebody touch them.
Reflexology is perfect for thatand I have worked on people in

(22:27):
those kinds of situations.
You know, perhaps I have aclient and they say my husband
or my friend or my client, whatever you know, they have
somebody that's like that.
I'm like this is so uninvasivethat it it'll work on them, and
then that could open them up tothe trust, to where it's like oh
okay, she's worked on me nowfor several months on
reflexology, maybe I'll let hermassage my back.

(22:49):
You know something to thateffect.
And the other really good thingabout reflexology is that you
can do it on yourself.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
So I was just gonna ask about that and I thought
would it be cool if you couldshow, show us or explain,
because this is where we have anaudio podcast.
We have this on YouTube as well.
So you know, if you couldactually take a minute maybe to
give us something simple that wecan do to help with where we're
all.
Most of us are stressed out, wehave issues with shoulders and

(23:20):
necks and or whatever you thinkwould be very cool for us to
learn.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
Okay, well, for let's see, put on the spot, let's
just say so.
As I said, on our hands, this,in this middle part of our hands
here, this represents ourspinal column.
So we have here is the cervicalgoes down into thoracic and

(23:46):
then it goes down into thelumbar lumbar area.
So right in this area here, ifwe have low back issue, what you
would do is you just gentlytake your hand, your fingers
wrap it around your hand andtake your thumb and there's a
little bone right in there andyou can just place it on that

(24:07):
and just you're just going tokind of dig in and come out and
dig in and come out, and dig inand come out, and you're just
going to work yourself all theway up.
I'm just going to do the wholespinal column.
You can just work your way allthe way up that edge of the
thumb and by that you're workingyour spinal column and you're

(24:32):
just going to go to the firstlittle section of your thumb,
that the part that's closest tothe hand, not up, up through
here, and we never go, you never.
You always go up, you can godown, but you're not going to go
down this way.
Okay, all right.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
So I encourage everyone who is listening in to
hop onto YouTube to see thisdemonstration, because you I
think you have to see it andthat is part of what I'll be
doing, for miracles is there'sgoing to be a whole session just
for self care.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
So I'm going to have different videos specifically
for backache, for migraines, forstress relief.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
So let me preface this for the listeners.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
For those of you who are out there miracles, ultimate
wellness resources.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
We are putting together something called the
healers Academy, which will belaunched soon, and we have
wonderful instructors such asTina, coming on to share their
knowledge in differentmodalities.
For those who are alreadypractitioners and want something
more to add to their, to their, their tools, and these are all

(25:46):
introductory, and then you know,if you want further education,
of course, you can connect withour healing heroes directly or
for the you know, the seekerswho are like let me, let me
figure out, let me, let me lookinto this.
We will be having that.
So stay tuned dot com, which isour parent company, and sign up

(26:11):
for our newsletter so that youare, you know, in the know of
what we have brewing in our backpockets, as we're always having
something, something that we'reoffering to help the help,
healers as well as seekers.

(26:31):
So thank you for that so much.
So, speaking of teaching, you've been teaching as long as
you've been practicing, so justa few years.
What do you love most abouteducating new practitioners?

Speaker 2 (26:46):
I love to teach, I love to be in that arena.
What I love most is just to seethe students light up and to
see their enthusiasm.
So I teach at a local massageschool and it's just for me and

(27:09):
I tell my students this all thetime.
I am, yes, I have the title ofa teacher, but I am their equal.
I just have a few extra yearsbehind me on this and the joy
that I get is that I'm able toshare my passion and my love of
massage and reflexology.
So I just I love to be in theroom, I love to talk about it.

(27:34):
I sometimes I have to take astep back in my head, thinking
where's this all coming from?
Because it just it just comesout of you.
You know, I just comes out ofme and I just I love to just
share and to to share my passion.
You know, yes, we have a blackand white structured manual to

(27:55):
go through, go by, but I'll usethat.
But then I just expand on itwith what I, you know what I
love to do, and it's like, oh,look at this, you can do that
too, and I just I love it.
I just love to be able to bethere and to share it's mostly
sharing my passion.
If you had to pull it down toone thing, it's sharing my

(28:18):
passion is what I love mostabout teaching, that's wonderful
, that's wonderful.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
So I know we talked about reflexology, I know we're
a little bit all over the road, but this is just the way it's
gonna go.
I want to talk a little bitabout Reiki now, but this is
just the way it's gonna go.
Um, I want to talk a little bitabout reiki now, because
there's different types of reikiand you are, um, trained and
and developed in a couple, Ithink two systems that you see
what you see.
You, how do you say that?

(28:45):
you sigh I'm not you, you sigh, because that's what I'm trained
in, and then then there's a holyfire three reiki system.
So what are the differences, ifthere are any differences, and
do you blend them both whenyou're working with with your
clients?

Speaker 2 (29:05):
there isn't a huge difference.
Uh, there was a man, uh,william Lee Rand is his name,
and he came up with the um, theholy fire uh system and it's
just more refined.
Uh, he kind of took it and justkind of went a little bit more

(29:27):
into it, a little more detailed.
So for me I only see milddifferences.
It's really the same.
It's really the samephilosophies, the same
everything.
It's just he took it and kindof expanded on it a little bit.
He does the attunements alittle different.

(29:49):
He has something called anignition, which is, you know,
we're igniting that holy fire inus or in our clients.
So there's just milddifferences.
But what it comes down to isit's the same.
It's the same energy.
Energy is energy, and it's thesame kind of energy is energy,

(30:14):
and it's the same same kind ofenergy.
We still call upon our, ourpeople, um, our spirit guides
and and the such that comes downand works through us.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
but uh, ultimately, at least for me, it's uh, it's
pretty much the same, okay and Ithink maybe we need to back it
up a little bit because I'm justmaking an assumption here.
You know our, our listeners arelike oh yeah, I know what Reiki
is, but they probably have some.
Some out there may not have anyclue what Reiki actually is and
how it works and the way itworks with the energy systems in

(30:41):
our body.
So can you just give us a briefkind of explanation or
introduction into what Reiki is?

Speaker 2 (30:49):
what Reiki is?
Reiki is a it's an energyhealing.
So it's not it can be hands on.
Some people prefer to put theirhands on their clients to do
the healing.
Some go above, you know theydon't actually touch the client.

(31:11):
And then there's actuallysomething called distance
healing, so to where I could besitting here and there could be
somebody in Ontario, canada thatmay need something, and I can,
you just get yourself centeredand in the zone and I can do the
healing.
Distance, distance, distantly.
Yeah, that's a word, but you cando it Right.

(31:33):
Yeah, and it's just, it's energyhealing, it's going in and
working with.
It's actually not me that'sdoing the healing.
I am just the vessel that thehealing is coming through me,
from the belief system of yourchoice, that comes down through

(31:54):
you and then you're doing thehealing on on the person.
So some people feel warmth, some people might feel tingling.
It's very relaxing.
You know, some people can go onlittle journeys in their heads
when they're receiving Reiki andit's quite beneficial.

(32:17):
It's quite beneficial.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
I would agree.
Speaking as a Reiki mastermyself, I think it's absolutely
what I found very powerful.
Is that relaxation that happens, you know, when we end with a
client, or sometimes they fallasleep during the sessions.
Yeah, some people fall asleep, which you know.

(32:41):
When I first started out, I waslike, oh, did, like is this
working?
There's been so many times likeis this working?
Is this what is happening here?
I'm just, I want to share as apractitioner.
Sometimes even we're like justwhat is going on, like is this
real, absolutely.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
Especially at the beginning, oh yeah that's.
I completely relate to that.
And comparing the threemodalities massage, I can see
and feel what I'm doing.
I can feel the muscles relaxingunder my hands.
With Reiki, same thing.
I can feel the texture in thefoot or the tension in the foot

(33:23):
or hands.
I can feel that change and youcan, you know, you can see it.
But with Reiki, reiki isprobably the one modality that I
don't want to say struggle with.
But, like what you said, it'slike you know that little voice
in the back of my head is thatreally working?
Am I really doing something?
But then the client will get upoff the table and they're like,

(33:43):
wow, that was so powerful.
Say, for those of you that aregoing out into this specific
world, perhaps, or perhapsyou're going to be having it
done, trust, just trust, thatthat it does, it does work.
Um, so yeah, I just um, andthat would probably, like I said

(34:06):
, the example I said of you know, when the client gets up off
the table and they're like, wow, that that was really powerful,
I could feel that it's kind oflike a little inside.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
I you know, I talk to my girlfriends because I just
happen to be surrounded byhealers and when I, when I talk
to them, I say the same thing, because we're all Reiki masters
and I'm like, do you ever havethat feeling Like, is something
happening, is what is happening?
Because the experience as ahealer is, you have that

(34:41):
intuition that maybe you shouldmove here, maybe you should go
here, maybe there's somethingthere.
And you know, you, you movethrough the different chakras
and you know release ordifferent parts of the body and
you begin to release.
And because you're not actuallytouching and feeling, like you
said, there's this piece of likeis this, is this what I'm

(35:03):
supposed to be doing?
Am I just making this up or amI truly connected to that source
that is using me to movethrough and do the healing?
And I know, for a lot of you whoare listening, it may sound
woo-woo because it's not like, like you said, a muscle that you
physically touch or inreflexology, where you can feel

(35:24):
what's going on through thehands, the feet and the ears.
But there is this piece oftrust that has to happen Even
when somebody's touching you.
You have to have that trustthat they're going to have that,
you know, in a Reiki session.
How do you begin to build thattrust with your clients?

Speaker 2 (35:44):
Oh gosh, I would say it's just again I'm going to
have to come up with, you know,um, um, experience and just
having them come back and um andbeing open.
You know, being open, I'm very,I'm, I'm very, I'm an open book
.
And I will tell even my massagestudents that it's okay to

(36:07):
always admit that you don't knowhow to do something.
So, like you know, when they goout into the world and they
start massaging, there's alwaysan apprehensive of oh my gosh,
am I doing it right?
You know, in the beginning it'salways hard.
So it's just being open to letthe client know.
You know I'm just starting out,or you know I'm I'm not quite

(36:31):
sure if you're feeling something, or just you know how can we
help each other.
So I just think communicationis key there.
So I might say to a Reikiclient you know, just let me
know if you're feeling anything.
You know, are you comfortable?
Just always check in with thema little bit, not so much that
it's annoying you, okay, so youdon't want to get to that point,

(37:00):
but just check in with them andyou know, just be, like I said,
open communication.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
Yeah, I think that is very important, especially when
you have what I'm going to sayis two newbies together a newbie
client and a newbiepractitioner.
It communication is is alwaysalways key.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Yeah, so, and Reiki, reiki is my, my last modality
that I've been using itintuitively, I believe, from the
beginning of when I starteddoing, when I started on this
back in 1998, I believe that theenergy has always been there

(37:42):
and I never put a name or alabel on it.
And then the Reiki came inlater and I'm going to be
perfectly honest, I've alwaysstruggled with that just a
little bit, just because of thefact that there's the label of,
of the energy, reiki because Ijust feel that energy is energy

(38:05):
and it all comes together.
Now, I love, I love Reiki.
I'm not saying anything badabout it, but that's been my
little bit of a struggle withthe energy and the Reiki.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
And I think a lot of people struggle with that.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
Yeah, but through the years of experiencing Reiki and
taking you know I had taken itonce a long time ago with, which
has actually turned into afriend of mine um, I was attuned
from her and um, I think I onlydid level one and two with her.
I never took the master withher.
And then a few years ago um iswhere probably probably or maybe

(38:46):
five years ago is when I just Istarted back into my Reiki
practice and um got attuned one,two and three with um, another
gal, and she's the one that's inthe the holy um fire Reiki.
So I went through the wholething with her and I'm still

(39:07):
taking classes Like she'll havelittle you know she'll have.
Actually she'll have like Reikishares and has other classes
that I'll still go to Becauseit's an ongoing.
It's an ongoing thing learninglike everything else right.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
So just for those who are tuning in that it's it's
never a one and done when we'rein, I'm going to say the healing
arts.
Whatever those healing arts are, you're where we are always
doing something to continue tolearn and grow Like, for
instance, add to the repertoireyou do massage therapy,

(39:43):
reflexology, sound therapy, sound healing, you're doing the
Reiki.
So there's always differentways to support your clients,
different ways that, as um, ourlisteners who maybe are looking
for healing that you can.
You can actually find that andhealing is not woo, woo.
There's, you know, there'sthere the healing.

(40:06):
It's true, we all have energy,we're made of energy.
If, for those of you who areskeptical and are just diving
into this world, do someresearch, I really, really
strongly urge you to do someresearch about how our bodies
actually work and how it'sconnected and the.
You know the smallest piece.

(40:27):
We're all just energy andmatter and we just happen to be
put together in the sack of abunch of Right.
And I would say we all haveintuition.
This question has been in theback of our mind the whole time
we've been talking is.
Let's talk about intuition fora minute, because you brought it
up a couple of times I feel thesame way.

(40:48):
There's this intuitive pullsometimes for certain things.
Of times I feel the same way.
There's this intuitive pullsometimes for certain things.
So let's talk a little bitabout intuition just before we
wrap up, about how, for you, does it play a role in your life

(41:08):
and in your?

Speaker 2 (41:09):
practice.
It's huge and it's somethingthat I had to learn to trust and
really tune into, you know, because I realized that I'm a
very intuitive person.
I can't think of an example, but something comes up and I

(41:38):
think, oh, later it's like I hadthat thought that I should have
turned left and instead I wentright.
But you know, right led me intowhatever where left was an easy
road.
So I started really having totune into those, those when I
would get that tap, when I wouldget that that feeling of
something was coming in.
I'm even so intuitive that youknow the typical right before

(42:01):
the phone rings, you know it'sgoing to be a friend of yours.
Or you know, right before thesong is played on the, on the
radio, you start humming it inyour head.
So those little things arethat's your intuition and if you
start tapping into that, it canreally get stronger and really
lead you into fun, funsituations.

(42:22):
So, bringing it back into themy, my modalities and all of
that, it's just really when Iteach, I'm going to bring it
into the teaching.
As I said, you know, you have,I have a handout that I've
created and I give them thishandout in black and white and
it's right there and everything,and.
But I'll tell them, it's likethat's just a guideline to get

(42:45):
you to where you need to go.
But the but, the true healingcomes from inside and you need
to bring that up and out andinto your hands because that's
where it's going to work.
And I've had, you know, I'll beworking along and somebody will
say, how did you know to gothere?
And honestly, I cannot tell you.

(43:06):
I cannot tell you except for ifthey, you know they probably
get up and run.
If I said, you know, the voiceis in my head, and it's not even
so much the voices in my head,it's just all of a sudden I'm
there, I just know that that'swhere I need to be.
And it's not even a consciousthought, it's not even like I

(43:27):
don't even get.
I don't, I really don't get.
You need to move on to theirrhomboids or whatever.
I don't get that thought in myhead.
It's just suddenly that's whereI'm at and, as I said, you have
to tap into that, quiet yourmind and just kind of just again
, the trust, trust, intuition, Ithink kind of goes hand in hand

(43:48):
, that you're going to just knowwhat and where you need to go
and kind of bringing that up.
In regards to when you asked mein the beginning of this you
know how I tailor make each oneof my sessions.

Speaker 1 (44:04):
It's that, it's the intuition, so it just kind of
all blends in together other, and I love what you said about
just quieting, quieteningyourself a little bit to kind of
connect to intuition.
For those that are out therewho are like, okay, I hear this
intuition, I, you know anotherword could be your gut instinct
Like you get this feeling andmany people say, oh, I was in

(44:28):
this area and I just feltshivers and, you know, I thought
maybe this is not a good, likethere was nothing else around
except for this feeling thatmaybe it's not the right place
to be.
Or, oh, you're in a place where, like, oh, yes, this is exactly
where I need to be.
Or, like you said, oh, my handsjust kind of move where they're
going to move and you're,you're led by intuition

(44:49):
connection, whatever it is.
So with that, I really wantedto ask what are some self-care
or grounding practices orpractices you do to connect to
your intuition, or that yousuggest to our listeners or to
your own clients to help thembetween sessions?

Speaker 2 (45:11):
to help them between sessions.
I, for myself, it's a self-care.
I try to lead a good, healthylife.
I do my yoga, I meditate.
A perfect example of today'smeditation was not sitting
quietly either listening toguided meditation or anything

(45:35):
like that.
I was literally in the showerand I thought, oh, I kind I
still did my thing before I getout of bed, but I was in the
shower and that's when I kind ofjust tapped into it.
I, I try to be conscious ofeverything that is out there.
You know, like when you'retaking a walk, just thank you

(45:58):
for the ground that I'm walkingon, the air that's touching my
body, the beauty that I'm ableto see, just trying to and I'm
not perfect by any means, believe me, perfect by any means

(46:18):
, believe me, it is a constantum, something that I need to.
It's like it's something thatI'm constantly bringing into my
life and I feel like that's whatkeeps me grounded, um, to where
I don't fly too far.
I mean my personality,absolutely.
I I can go in 18 differentdirections.
So when I walk into the massageroom, I try to leave everything,

(46:38):
or my session room, I shouldcall it.
I try to leave everythingoutside of the door.
And again, I'm not Buddha.
So suddenly, as I'm working onsomebody, I start thinking about
what are we going to have fordinner?
And then I just try to bring itback, you know, just bring it
back to.
Okay, I'm not going to thinkabout dinner, I'm going to put

(46:58):
the client, you know, and I I'mpretty much sure that's not just
me speaking, and I think that Ican speak for a lot of
different healers that are outthere.

Speaker 1 (47:16):
That 100%.
I was thinking the same thingAm I?

Speaker 2 (47:17):
am I the only one who has?
That weird thought right in themiddle of a session I'm like
Nope, not now Exactly.
We're over here.
We are just human and this isjust the way our brains are
wired.
A hundred percent.
And then what would they saidthere was like a second part and
then clients?

Speaker 1 (47:28):
It's like what?
How do you?
What would you recommend toyour clients in between sessions
, or even not clients, peoplewho are listening what would you
recommend that they do to keepthemselves perhaps grounded, or
some sort of self-care routinewhere they can?
Maybe you know we were talkingabout intuition, so let's just
go there.
What would you say or whatcould you give our listeners

(47:50):
that would help them begin toconnect to that, that level of
intuition that I would say youand I could have because we're
more practiced?

Speaker 2 (48:00):
I would just say, you know, quieting the mind is a
huge thing, and if anybody outthere knows the answer to that,
please let me know.
But I'm just quieting the mindand really tuning into those
subtle little things that happento you throughout the day, the
little, the little, I'll say,the little taps on the shoulder

(48:23):
that says, you know, oh, payattention to that or pay
attention to this.
I would say, you know, starttuning into that.
And just, you know, bringingthemselves back to center and
then, in regards to, like, thein-between sessions and you know
how they can keep themselves ina good state is to, you know,

(48:51):
get themselves on a goodexercise routine.
Maybe, you know, maybe, if it'sstretching that's going to help
, say, their lower back, thenmaybe look into doing some yoga.
Or, you know, I usually give myclients some self care tips to
take home with them so they cando that.
Suggest, you know, meditation,or suggest just just to take

(49:16):
five minutes.
You just need five minutes.
Sometimes, you know, we go, go,go.
We're in such a high stressedsociety this world is just
there's just always so muchthat's coming at us that, you
know, take, take five minutes, walk away from this, this, this
laptop whatever it is, thatyou've got in front of you, you

(49:37):
know.
Step away from that and takethat break.
Take, you know.
Roll your shoulders, drink yourwater, do all the things that
we constantly hear being told todo.

Speaker 1 (49:48):
That's so true.
I think you know it's.

Speaker 2 (49:52):
all you need is five minutes true, it I think you
know it's.
All you need is five minutes.
Yeah, it really can make sense.
There's, you can even do fiveminute yoga.
Yeah, okay, I'm always thinkingof things to to compare the
other day.
I set the the microwave.
I had something that I wasmicrowaving for three minutes
and during that three minutes Igot so much done.

(50:13):
Flittering around my house I'mlike, wow, I got a lot done in
three minutes.
And I kept looking, I keptgoing back and checking the
microwave and it's like, yeah, aminute and a half.
Well, this time is it was goingon and on and on.

Speaker 1 (50:32):
I mean, sometimes time goes like that, but when
you really just kind of comedown it's like well, you can get
a lot done in the three or fiveminutes, so you can apply that
to yourself, to take that self, that five minutes for self care
