Welcome back to another episode of HealthDecoded.
I'm your host, doctor Alessi.
And your cohost, Matt Tack.
(02:03):
What's up, man?
You have to m on the hat for Matt.
I like it.
M on the hat for Matt.
That's exactly right.
It is
not conceded, bro.
It's cool.
Awesome, man.
It's it's good to see you, brother.
I'm excited for this episode, you know, to kindof preface what we're going to talk about.
We normally have a pretty cool cadence with ourshows that I think drives a lot of value and
(02:24):
people have given us feedback that they like itbecause it's digestible.
Know, with the four segments of how we approachthings.
Sorry guys, this one's going to be a littledifferent.
We're going to kind of go off script here andjust be a little bit more organic with the
conversation, but there's a lot happening rightnow within the walls of our clinic as well as
without, you know, outside of that more on likethe more virtual front, but some really cool
(02:50):
things that we want to just make sure peopleare aware of so they can take advantage of
those.
And so that's what we want to talk about today, man.
Yeah, I'm really excited.
We got a lot of exciting things going on withour podcast and even at the clinic.
So let's let's dig right in.
Yeah, man.
So let's just start by let's kind of chat alittle bit about you know, number one is we are
(03:12):
bringing on another doc very shortly likeideally within the next month month and a half
to just help better serve our patients you knowwe've seen that we've gotten pretty busy and
doctor Rennie is doing an awesome job.
But there hits you know there hits a capacitywhere like anything right you your ability to
serve people to the highest level can get maxedout when you're serving a lot of people.
(03:36):
And so, rather than being like a lot ofcompanies out there in different industries
where they get too busy and then their level oftheir quality of service goes down.
We're trying to proactively get ahead of that.
And, you know, bring on another another highlevel quality provider to assist our patients.
Definitely really looking forward to that and,you know, God leading the charge on us finding
(03:59):
somebody.
Yeah, I think, know, one thing we always talkabout specifically, the cadence at which we
operate within clinic and it really honestlyeverything we do.
We had this conversation yesterday, but like, how do we go above and beyond?
Like, what is that level of care that's aboveand beyond?
And I always go back to the Ritz Carlton.
(04:19):
Right?
The Ritz Carlton has this, like when you hearthe word name Ritz Carlton, right, you think
of, like, this concierge, this elegance, like, you're walking into the most premier hotel
likely in the world.
Right?
And so that's how we want our patients.
That's what we're building is this Ritz Carltonconcierge feel.
(04:40):
And, we don't we we always wanna be the barsetter of, like, what we do.
And that's that's the big conversation as we'rehaving behind the scenes as far as how we build
this and how we incorporate new people is thatculture that we're bringing on so that people
do feel that way when they walk through ourdoors.
So that's I hope, you know, as a patient, youfeel that way.
(05:02):
If you're listening now, like, of how we justtreat people, number one, but then also the
care that you feel like you're getting.
Yeah, I think we've created an atmosphere oflike, like it feels healthy, right?
When people walk in, there's good energy, itfeels healthy.
Everybody on our team is like jumping up tohelp or go out of their way to do, you know,
(05:24):
what the patient needs.
And that's why people get better.
Because you know, when you're in an environmentof negativity or you know, those kind of
depressive emotions, right?
Like people aren't going to have as good of anoutcome because the energy is not there.
Maybe the level of trust or hope right is islost so yeah, that's something really exciting
(05:45):
that we're both really looking forward to isadding you know just adding to our team and
growing ultimately.
And then some of the other services that we'rebringing into or you know treatment systems.
Number one thing I'm super pumped about is thered light therapy.
So, we invested in a whole body red light unit.
(06:06):
There was like a production issue on their endwhere it got delayed about a month.
So, we were expecting to have it by now butit's looking like it's going to be more like
September.
But essentially, the concept of red lighttherapy and I actually just talked about this
in a previous episode is that photobiomodulation component of how the red light
stimulates internal mechanisms within the bodyfor healing and repair, as well as
(06:30):
mitochondrial and energy production, and, youknow, detoxification as well.
And so being able to pair that with some typeof internal detox functional medicine, right,
is going to enhance just the outcomes we'reable to get with our patients.
And that's what we're all about is like, youknow, I'd say everything we do in the clinic if
you are a listener and you don't know by now isnot just like one thing, right?
(06:54):
It's not like it's rare if somebody comes inhere and does one treatment system.
It's like we are pairing things togetherbecause there is this summative effect that
comes from that.
And we're able to like enhance outcomes as wellas shorten the time it takes to get those
outcomes.
And so it's all about like that that efficiencypiece.
Yeah, and so you know, we've just seen thatthat is so much better for patients.
(07:15):
They're not going, you know, to multipledifferent places to get different things,
right?
They can kind of knock everything out under oneroof, which is fantastic, right?
And that's where, honestly, you're the one whokind of came up with the idea for the three
pillars.
Why don't you touch on that real quick ifpeople haven't listened to that episode?
Yeah, well, I mean, the way that we operate,it's the cadence, Of that, what you call the
(07:41):
summative effect.
And so, you can be, you can work on thephysical, right?
And the physical is really important.
But naturally the body's gonna haveinflammation built up.
Know, no matter what your age, there's likelygonna be some level of inflammation, right?
That you need to cater to.
We see leaky gut every single day.
But for me, you know, functional med was likekind of the reason why I came in originally.
(08:04):
I did have sciatic issues.
So I've had both of those things, and Iconsider myself an athlete.
Like, I wanna push I wanna push my body stillto limits.
But then there's this all also this proactiveapproach or necessarily it kind of bleeds into
you getting better, maybe faster.
And that's the regenerative component.
(08:25):
So now we have this like physical, functional, regenerative, right?
And yeah, there three different pillars that wefocus on, but it is the summative effect of
everything because you don't just want to dothe physical without the functional, and you
don't want to do the functional without theregenerative piece too, right?
(08:46):
And so we play by our own standards and like, where are our standards?
And I know that you and I leading this chargeis like, we are thinkers.
Like, we want to dabble into like new ideas andthen become masters at those ideas.
And so we are constantly looking into variousforms of, how we can improve ourselves, maybe
(09:10):
recover faster, feel better, and so operatewhere our standards are incrementally growing,
right, and climbing.
Where somebody might tell you as you age, oh,you're just getting old, right?
People say that a lot, you're getting old.
And the reality is, yes, I'm getting older, right?
I turned 40 this year.
(09:30):
But the fact is, is that I get to set thestandard of what that actually physically looks
like when I am using all three pillarseffectively.
And that being the physical medicine, thefunctional medicine, the regenerative side.
And so, that's what I just love is that I canadd in the modalities that I need in order to
(09:52):
set that standard.
I don't want to be that partner in a clinicthat doesn't look like the role as well.
And so I know like if you're if if you'reoutside looking in and listening to our
podcast, we very much set ourselves as models, for how we're going to project because we are
(10:14):
the brand, right?
And so I think that, you know, that is veryimportant to us to project that brand with the
excellence that that we know, you know, that wewant to because if you come in, there's
definitely gonna be a judgment factor for weweren't representing the brand well.
Yeah, 100%.
I mean, that's it's like who you going totrust, right?
(10:35):
You go to the gym and you hire personaltrainer.
You're to trust the guys, you know, eating adonut and maybe three thousand forty pounds
overweight or the guy who's cut up, right?
You're more likely going to be like, this guywalks to talk and probably knows what he's
talking about.
That doesn't mean that the guy doesn't knowanything and it doesn't have knowledge.
It's like somebody who can't implement that,right?
They just ask me all the time.
(10:56):
It's pretty funny.
Like we'll take an X-ray and we're going overthere.
Shape of their spine right that lordosis in thecervical spine.
And they're like, do you have a perfect neckcurve?
I'm like, it's not perfect.
It's only two degrees off though.
Like, know, do the work man like, I'm not overhere telling you to do something that I
wouldn't do myself.
So, you get like setting the example and thenobviously being able to lead and guide people
(11:17):
is how we operate.
And so, yeah, you know, adding adding more andadding more value to be able to help people
better faster with with enhanced outcomes iswhat we're all about.
And I think that actually comes from like ournature as athletes, right?
We're both athletes.
We still are athletes.
Athletes are always trying to get that edge, right?
(11:39):
Like whatever if you could get like 1% betteras an athlete, you're going to do what that do
that thing to get you there, right?
That's just how we are.
So we pass that on to like how we want to helppeople as well.
So if we could get people 1% more relief withsome type of treatment system, we're doing it.
And so, super exciting to have the you know, bring in the red light therapy.
(12:01):
We will keep people informed as to what thattimeline looks like.
But within the next thirty days, I believe isrealistic.
And then the other cool thing that we'veactually been doing now for a couple months,
but I don't think everybody is aware is thatwe've brought in phlebotomy to the office.
So there was a bit of the probably the littleconstraint of when people would order blood
(12:24):
work and then they're having to wait for, youknow, receiving some type of blood work kit and
then take it somewhere.
Now that's another appointment versus they'recoming in, it's like, let's just knock it out
right now while you're in the office.
So, we are working on trying to expand thatavailability as well.
Currently, it's one day a week, but gettingmore opportunity and availability on that
(12:45):
schedule.
As well as we have the concierge service wherewe send the phlebotomist to you.
So, if you want to, in the middle of a busy dayat work and somebody's going to show up on your
lunch break, tap your blood real quick andthen, you know, you get back to work like
that's awesome.
And so, at work, at home, really wherever theycan come out to you.
And we love doing that for our patients aswell.
(13:06):
It's kind of that that next level it factor, right?
Where we're serving people.
So you actually did that.
You had someone come to your house one timebecause you were just in a busy season.
You were like, man, I can't leave the houseright now.
I'm just got got stuff going on and so theyjust came to you.
Yep, I did the concierge and then yesterday Ihad a pulled in clinic, right?
So again, it's part of the process that we liveby example.
(13:28):
So I had my blood work pulled yesterday andexcited to get back the data.
Yeah, man.
And it's, know, it's like you get the data.
Now we have information.
Now we tweak certain things and we progress, right?
And so those are those checkpoints that all ofour patients have, you know, with its
functional medicine.
We're checking in every month, every couplemonths, and then blood work, you know, twice a
(13:49):
year, bi annually.
And then with more of the physical medicinepatients who are doing some type of corrective
protocol, it's more frequent because we're, youknow, we're doing more intervention.
So it's like every twelve- twelve visits, probably every month or month and a half ish.
We're following up, following up, following up,making sure things are going in the right
direction.
We're not just guessing taking shots in thedark.
We're actually ahead of the game, right?
(14:11):
And so making the right modifications.
Other things coming up man.
We've got this cool challenge coming up.
We did a challenge back in May ish March, something like that.
We did a challenge not too long ago.
Maybe it was even June, you know, times justflying.
I apologize if I forgot.
But challenge coming up here starting October 1that we are calling the repair clear and thrive
(14:33):
challenge.
And the name is because that's what it is.
Like we have a system or a protocol ofnutraceuticals and nutrition and kind of
dietary guidelines that helps the body torepair like within the gut and within you know,
the internal repair the systems, clear outdetox, clear out the bad stuff.
(14:54):
And then at the back end of that, you're you'rethriving, right?
You're getting to that level of of health.
So there's a few things within that challenge.
So, you know, maybe you can touch on kind ofwhat that looks like and why we're doing it.
Yeah.
Our last challenge winner was Justin Morton.
Shout out to Justin for doing a great job onour last challenge.
(15:15):
And then this one, we have a massive, wellnesspackage challenge like that you can win.
Like, I it's over $2,500 worth in value thatyou ultimately can win, from this challenge.
But, the challenge is a component of building, you know, we always say this, right?
Your diets are limited, but habits areeverything, right?
(15:38):
And so when you start building the proper habitformation over a period of time and make that
like commitment, things change.
And you change, right?
And you evolve as a person.
We're constantly evolving.
Right?
We do we do we live by the motto of if we'renot we're not growing, we're dying.
So how are we doing this?
We do this through challenges.
(15:58):
We challenge ourselves.
And so how do we step into a little bit ofdiscomfort?
Not even you know, it's this what's cool aboutthis challenge is, so we partnered up with
Apex, and Apex is the nutraceuticals that we'rebringing into this challenge for the repair and
clear.
We use this in clinic for a detox portion.
So what's really awesome about this is ifyou're experiencing any sort of gut related or
(16:23):
microbiome issues, this is a protocol that wewould put you on anyway, right?
And so, we would put you on this detox, thissix weeks detox, it's a six week challenge.
And then we're gonna give you access all sortsof coaching through an app, where you're gonna
have platform to start building in thesedisciplines of just exercise and and then it is
(16:46):
I honestly, if you're if you're more of likethe kind of what we say untrained or you
haven't trained in a while, what's good is thatthis is a good road map to just, like,
incrementally build these things in.
The why and the timing of it all is rightbefore the holidays, right?
What better way to get yourself disciplinedright before the holidays?
(17:07):
People wanna take that time off and just say, hey, I'm, you know, I'm gonna be a little
unhealthier during this time frame.
But what better way to start building thesedisciplines in right before the holiday season?
You're coming into Thanksgiving and Christmaswhere things get hectic.
And you're like, you know what?
I'm gonna I'm gonna start thriving before thatto set myself up and set a new standard.
(17:28):
So we are super excited.
We're gonna start this on October 1.
It's gonna be the start date for this, andwe're excited for everyone that's gonna get on
board.
For the first 10 people, they do get correct meif I'm wrong.
What's what's the incentive for the first 10people that sign up?
Yeah.
The first 10 are gonna get a $100 off the introprice, so they save they save money as well as
(17:51):
they'll get a free like functional medicineconsultation.
So you know, that's huge that's that's alreadya ton of value and then obviously all the
things that they're going to get within thechallenge is the repair and clear protocol.
So that's the foundation the base.
They're going to get the app, which hastracking for you know, it has meal plans, it
has exercise videos and plans, it has coachingaspect from us so like people can, you know,
(18:15):
interact with us daily.
And then they are going to get a biometricscreen as well where we do like a wellness
score.
It's basically like an overall screen of liketheir health, you get a kind of a grade or like
a number.
And then after the challenge, get another oneand it's like, okay, like how good did we do
right?
Again, that's that tracking piece.
I think the biggest thing too is like withthese challenges is like there's
(18:36):
accountability, but then there's theeducational component and I like what you said.
You know, I think in this country, the standardis like people think about their health early
in the year for the first couple months, thenthey just go about their lives and then the
holidays come around and they get derailed andlike everyone gains 20 pounds around the
holidays and then because the stress componentto right not only the eating unhealthy, there's
(18:59):
so much stress around that time of year.
And then oh, January's here.
Let's let's think about our health again foranother three weeks versus like we just want to
create this concept of like if you have theright habits, you're not going to be on that
roller coaster of getting derailed and thengaining weight, losing weight, gaining weight,
losing weight, you'll know what to do and maybelike what things not to do ideally and how to
(19:20):
maintain that structure and that discipline.
You know, yeah, there's a lot of value in thewinning whoever wins a challenge is going to
win a lot.
But the win is just doing it and getting theresults and learning too.
So and you know, not everybody has, you know, that amount of money to throw up front all the
time.
So we created like a like a payment structureas well that anybody can do like realistically,
(19:43):
it's so affordable.
So, you know, if you're listening and you wantto learn more, this is on our website,
lesseefunctionalhealth.com/challenge.
That's what that'll take you to that page.
And so you can read more about it.
There's a video that I filmed me talking aboutit kind of what's involved, what you can win.
And it's going to be awesome and it's it'sengagement too.
(20:05):
So it brings people together.
And we really just see like really positiveoutcomes when people could start to challenge
themselves and others.
For sure.
I think that's one of the biggest pieces likeyou galvanize that level of community,
engaging.
So if you're part of our clinic too, westrongly want to urge you to consider getting
(20:26):
into this challenge.
I think it's gonna be a really good opportunityfor just the the people, you know, just around
within our clinic and within Tampa Bay forsure, just to really kind of galvanize and and
look ahead towards what, you know, what we'redoing and really driving the charge of just
having healthier lifestyle and making, youknow, that that model of being it's better to
(20:51):
be occasionally good than consistently perfect.
Right?
So occasionally perfect and consistently goodis what I mean by that.
I I got it.
So got that reversed.
But at the same time of like, just really thebuilding blocks.
Right?
We wanna we wanna incorporate the habitstructures to live that healthier lifestyle.
So with this challenge, this is us kinda is isreally stirring that on and, you know, building
(21:15):
something within the community that we havehere in Tampa Bay.
Yeah.
And, you know, I think what maybe hangs peopleup is like doing something like this on their
own right they don't know if they're gonna beable to do it on their own so bring a friend
bring a partner spouse.
The second person who's you know involved getslike a discount we created that way so we can
kind of get people that you know want engagetogether with this and also obviously help
(21:36):
people out more, but you'll get better resultstoo because you'll have that person who's in
your life that is going to be pushing you alongthe way outside of us obviously And so, you
know, yeah, if if if you think that's been thefactor, maybe that would hold you back from
doing something like that.
You everybody knows somebody who would want todo it right?
Everybody has that a friend that would do itwith them.
(21:57):
So yeah, you know, reach out to somebody andand see if this is something you're ready for.
The cool thing is man, we made it.
It's so easy to do like it's streamlined likewe give you everything you need.
You just have to do it.
And so, it's all really guided and laid out foryou.
And then you just have to follow through whichthen again, breeze results for people and
(22:19):
creates that level of empowerment, right?
Like man, I could do this that you can doanything, right?
And I think maybe people don't believe inthemselves enough.
And so we're here to say we believe in you and,you know, you should believe in yourself more
and you can you can really rise up.
So really excited for that man.
I'm just excited for all this stuff.
The energy has been so so electric lately witheverything we got going on.
(22:40):
And with this podcast too, you know, we'realways trying to push out more value, more
valuable content.
We're going to create a more of a streamlinedstructure for where we're, you know, putting
out this content so people can have betteraccess to it.
And more people can kind of learn.
You know the the good stuff we're doing so.
Yeah, anything else you wanna you wanna add inman?
(23:03):
You know, I know I think we're good man.
I think this episode was a wrap.
I think it's fantastic.
We just wanted to update people on kind of whatwhat's ahead in the things that we have in the
pipeline.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So we'll do these, you know, every now and thenjust to make sure that our audience can kind of
stay in touch and stay in tuned.
(23:24):
Life is busy.
We get it.
