(00:00):
The evidence shows that 60% of people have somekind of chronic illness or metabolic disease.
(00:05):
That's a massive number.
That's a huge majority.
So how can we combat that with natural things?
Right?
How can how can our lifestyle become medicine?
Welcome to Health decode, your number onesource for real health information with your
host, doctor Alessi and Matt Tack.
Alright.
Welcome to episode 1 of Health Decoded.
(00:28):
I'm your host, doctor Alessi, and your cohost,Matt Tan.
Awesome, man.
Awesome.
Well, very exciting what we're doing here, man.
And, this first episode, we just really want tointroduce ourselves and let the audience know
kind of what we're doing.
We're pivoting from the full fueled podcast nowrebranding as the Health Decoded podcast
(00:51):
running in tandem with our functional wellnessclinic in Tampa, Florida.
And the mission, man, as it's always been, buteven more so now is to help people to really
discern what is health and what is maybe someBS.
Right?
And I think that's the biggest thing when itcomes to functional health and functional
(01:12):
medicine is, like, there's so many people outthere just putting out information, what's real
and what's not.
And we have enough experience behind the bothof us combined to really give people the truth
and, honestly, keep it simple.
So excited to be here.
Excited for this.
Let's do this.
Let's just give a real quick kind of summary ofwho we are and where we come from, and I'll let
(01:33):
you go first, man.
Yeah.
So my name is Matt Tack.
I, am a certified personal trainer.
Haven't used it a number of years, but throughNASM.
And I would consider myself in terms of, highlyeducated in the health and human performance,
and what that means to be proactive about yourhealth, especially for those men, and women
(01:57):
that are getting into their forties and fiftiesand kind of thinking and longevity mindset.
What does that mean to them?
So I've spent a number of years just, unpackingwhat it means to me and helping out other
individuals through the coaching process, ofwhat human performance looks looks like, when
you're entertaining thirties, forties, fifties, and sixties, and how you can still be optimal
(02:21):
at any age.
So I am a human performance specialist, both inthe nutritional realm and then in the,
physiological in terms of exercise.
Awesome.
Awesome.
And And I'm doctor Alfred Alessi.
If you're a patient in our office or if you'refamiliar with myself, you know that I'm a
chiropractor and functional medicine doctor.
(02:42):
And the goal is always prevention is betterthan cure, but there's oftentimes where people
are behind the curve on some disease orillness.
And what ways can we use natural solutions to,to achieve optimal health and not have to go
through the conventional medicine route, whichhonestly can just be frustrating and just a
(03:04):
rabbit hole of symptom based care.
And so that's really what we wanna tostreamline and kind of focus on with this show
is how can we use natural solutions?
How can we use our own our body's own intuitivehealing systems to heal from disease and to
stay healthy long term?
So, you know, the reason, man, we were, like, rebranding this this show is because we were
(03:28):
very much focused in our other podcast fullfueled on a niche of men looking to optimize
their health, which is that's not like this isgonna go away, but we just find that we can
serve, like, the same with our clinic.
We can serve more people with the approach thatwe're taking right now.
And, really, the questions we always get, and Iknow you get it all the time, is, like, people
come to you.
Hey.
Is this, you know, is this true?
(03:50):
Is this real?
Is this is this is this right?
And they always have a million questions onsomething they heard online.
So, you know, we both kinda came together onthat.
But, let let me ask you this, man.
Like, if you had to say tell tell the listenerswhat's, like, the mission, right, between
Alessi Functional Health and Health Decoded?
Yeah.
It's just a being more informed.
(04:10):
Right?
I think one of our big things in terms of,like, how what our outlook is, and what we
always talk about is, constantly challengingthings.
Right?
Being intuitive, more than reactive aboutthings, having be more being more proactive
about your health instead of reactive aboutyour health.
And so then what does that look like in termsof just like pure layman?
(04:33):
And it's becoming more knowledgeable.
Right?
You when you have more knowledge, you have moremore power.
And so if you can utilize that and make itpurposeful and put it to action, there's a lot
of intention with your life around that.
Right?
And there's a lot of empowerment, in terms ofhow I can control, my daily activities when it
(04:54):
comes to from very basic things to nutritionselection, all the way to, like, how I spend my
time.
Right?
And how I efficiently spend my time so thatmaybe I can feel better, look better, play
better.
And so we always go around the clock on what, Iguess we could talk about the pillars, at which
(05:14):
we move, although we won't purely, like, explain these in every episode, but it fuel
movement, sleep, mind, spirit, and work.
And if you can check those consistently on adaily basis and being like, Hey, where am I at
with these things?
You can ultimately evolve into a much betterhuman.
So that's what we wanna stay true to, as ourpurpose, but get people more educated and have
(05:39):
them be cognizant of the decisions that they'remaking on
a daily basis.
Amen, man.
So, yeah, the goal is definitely to providelisteners with a ton of valuable knowledge, not
just, you know, me and you talking, but reallyjust sharing, like, real, like, factual
evidence.
Like, hey.
The evidence shows that 60% of people have somekind of chronic illness or metabolic disease.
(06:00):
That's a massive number.
That's a huge majority.
So how can we combat that with natural things?
Right?
How can how can our lifestyle become medicine?
And, honestly, we're gonna share a ton ofpatient testimonials from the office.
We're gonna bring patients in and have patientskinda tell their story on the podcast, and we
want people to submit questions to us that theyhave.
Like, if you have a burning question, we wantyou to send it to ask at AlessiFXHealth dotcom.
(06:24):
And if you send us that question, we willanswer it on the show with your permission.
And, you know, that being said, man, a primeexample is a patient that we had and how us as
practitioners all work together.
We had a patient come in.
She was actually referred to me from a friendof mine who's a chiropractor.
Right?
And so you can think, like, why is achiropractor sending a patient to another
chiropractor?
Well, her gut based symptoms was a little bitmore in line with what we handle in the office.
(06:48):
This patient had been to multiple MDs,gastroenterologists, endocrinologists,
everyone.
And all they did was a bunch of reallyexpensive tests, colonoscopies, put her through
this whole ringer of things just to tell herthat they they couldn't figure out what was
going on with her, and they put her on protonpump inhibitors saying thinking that she had,
high stomach acid.
It was the opposite.
She had low stomach acid due to insufficient, balance in her gut bacteria.
(07:13):
All it took was a simple gut test to figurethat out, which nobody ran because conventional
medicine doesn't really know these kind ofthings.
Right?
So these kind of cool niche, I guess, nuancedtests that we're able to run with functional
medicine, we found out what the problem was.
Within 3 months, she was symptom free.
Back no bloating, no indigestion.
She could eat all the foods again, and it wasbecause we eliminated the bad, reinoculated
(07:36):
with good bacteria, and ultimately got her backto feeling amazing.
And so that's just one story out of a a bunchof stories we're gonna talk about on this show,
man.
Talk about, man, talk about some of the thefrustrations you've seen, you know, in the
world of health care and and modern medicine.
Right?
If we talk about conventional medicine, notthat we're knocking it by any means.
Right?
It it is there for a reason, and it's helpful, but sometimes can miss
(07:59):
the mark.
Anyone that highlights highlights to you?
Yeah.
I would say, you know, yeah.
We definitely don't wanna come across as, like,we're anti medicine.
Right?
Like, anti, you know, it's it's more so havingan under understanding and more intuitive,
outlook with, with how you how you look atlongevity and the overall health.
(08:23):
Right?
And how you maximize the days ahead.
And so I would look at it, purely as, what kindof what I stated before, in terms of, like,
alright.
What what things what checks, and balances canI make in my life, to ultimately feel better?
We have this model of look good, feel good, play good.
(08:43):
Right?
And so how am I incorporating these, like, small tactical things that ultimately can
optimize my living?
And so, as we look at our gut health, you know, that's a big thing is is really understanding
how your gut and how it's correlating to eventhe hormones in your body and how they're
transitioning.
Right?
(09:03):
Because a lot of times we're interrupting ourgut, at its fullest capacity, and we're
minimizing what the the benefits of it it doeshave.
And then our hormones get all out of whack andour metabolism, and we blame it on aging.
Right?
But the the the reality is it's it's definitelynot aging.
And so then it becomes like, alright.
(09:24):
Well, what do I need to do to reset things?
And so that's why we wanna, like, utilize thisplatform and kind of decode the podcast of,
like, what that means because a guy on ourteam, that's what he does for us.
Right?
He really he he would we take you through anentire process of leveling out your pH levels,
(09:46):
getting your gut to perform at a higher levelof efficiency, and resetting your metabolism so
that you're living at optimal health.
So, you know, one of the things that I see intoday's day and age is specifically, I think
people are questioning more and more about, like, our food and what they're putting into
their body.
I don't think that has actually correlated tothe action component yet.
(10:08):
Right?
I think a lot of people are questioning, butthey really don't care.
Right?
They're like, yeah.
But it's there.
Right?
It's easy.
I think that will evolve and come along.
But that's part of the process of what we'redoing here in Health Decoded is we're we're
really saying, hey.
This is why you gotta shape and, shaping up andsharpen, kinda your the tools in your toolbox
(10:31):
because ultimately, what you're doing ishindering your your highest level of
optimization.
Yeah, man.
That's so true.
And, you know, we're gonna talk about a lot ofdifferent things, but mostly all will kinda tie
back to, the concept of, like, decoding what ishealth.
Right?
Getting to the bottom of it.
And health is not just merely not feeling sickor the absence of disease, but health is it is
(10:55):
my body performing, and is my body able toheal?
Right?
Like, because it should.
Our body has these built in mechanisms thatshould heal if you get an injury, if you get an
illness.
It should do its job.
Now when it doesn't, that's because there'ssomething in the way.
There's a hindrance.
So, you know, we're gonna talk about root causemedicine, what it is.
We're gonna talk about inflammation, guthealth, weight loss, real weight loss, not
(11:18):
like, you know, just, artificial medicineweight loss that then kind of rebounds and
makes people more sick.
Wanna talk about nutrition, detoxing, so manythings.
The the list goes on and on.
We're gonna bring on some really awesomeguests, people that we've had on the show
before, people that we're gonna bring back, newguests.
We're gonna revamp some of the older episodesthat that were really popular and kind of
(11:40):
reinvigorate those topics again.
And I think it's it's just gonna really becool, man.
We're gonna once a month try to do a an episodewhere we just answer our listeners' questions.
So we really want people, whether you're apatient or not, to to submit those questions to
ask atalesifxhealth.com, and we will answerthose for you live on the show.
(12:00):
I'm excited, man.
I I really think, like, just the mission is isso solidified as to why we're doing this and,
you know, the import the importance of of thesehonest conversations and, like, debunking these
health myths, man.
Because, again, like, how many times is theresome influencer who has zero credentials or
credibility, but they're popular on Instagramand they're saying a bunch of things, and then
(12:22):
how many people start trying stuff?
Now that being said, we we're proponents oftrying things.
Like, it's not like I'm saying not to trysomething if you think it might help you.
But, I mean, there's a fine line between thesome of this kinda weird fringey stuff and
people just trying to make a buck off of you.
And so that's not what this is at all.
We're not here to turn a profit off of anyone.
We're not here to, you know, use someone's,illness as a way to make money.
(12:46):
We are here to just give free information andvalue.
And so we want people to be engaged, and wejust want them to deliver, man.
And act.
Right?
One of the biggest things, components, actionon the backside of that.
So, how are we incorporating this intopotentially our daily lives?
And a lot of them a lot of the stuff that we'regonna be going over here, like, that was super
(13:09):
basic.
I never thought of it that way, but we wannaexplain health, and what it means and how to
decode health at a 3rd grade level where everyany anyone and everyone can understand it.
And you can feel like your 20 year old selfagain.
So, you know, a lot of our listeners areprobably gonna be in their thirties and
forties, maybe even older, fifties and sixties.
(13:31):
And they're like, man, how can I get my healthback?
Right?
And it really is, like, one day at a time, onestep at a time, but building those fun getting
those fundamentals, back in place, likeshooting free throws.
Hey, I need to hit a couple layups.
That's right.
And you build those.
And, man, you're you feel like a completely newperson.
So, that's what we're gonna be walking youthrough.
(13:52):
We'll get we'll get some nerdy on some stufftoo, but, that's ultimately how we wanna just
you know, we just wanna give it to you at atits core level, at the basic level, and, hope
that you can understand and take some action.
Yeah.
The goal is to keep the information raw, real, but simple to digest, but based on science and
fact.
And so, that's the goal of this podcast.
(14:14):

So we're gonna talk about what is root causemedicine, versus symptom based care.
We're gonna really get into the the topic ofthat and how we can kinda shift the mindset of
(14:37):
our country to prevention versus waiting untilsomething goes wrong.
