(01:03):
Hey there, happy Monday andwelcome back to another episode
of Healthy Hot Mess Podcast.
Thank you so much for tuning in.
I'm so grateful that you arehere and taking some time to
listen to a podcast that isabout bettering yourself and
your health and well-being.
So thank you so much for beinghere.
I am so excited about today'sepisode.
I thought I would just dosomething a little bit fun, a

(01:24):
little bit light, and I wouldgive you some of my best
products, tips, ideas of thingsto get into your life this
summer season, things that aregoing to help you be healthier,
help your wellness, make youfeel good, just give you good
vibes, because that's what weall want, right?
Okay, so, in no particularorder, I just have a bunch of
things that I want to share withyou.

(01:44):
So first thing is going to becovering, like sun protection,
which you know I am very fairskinned.
I burn, like at the first sightof sun when the weather starts
to turn, and it's something thatI'm really cautious about
because I've burned so manytimes in my life.
But a couple products that Iabsolutely love.
The first one is by Clear Stem, and I've mentioned them before

(02:04):
in this podcast, but I love allof their stuff.
Specifically, it's called SunnySidekick and it is their
powdered SPF 30.
So you can keep it in yourpurse, you can pop it open, you
can reapply it on your facereally quickly.
You can put it on your arms, you can put it on your hands,
your shoulders if you're outside, like whatever part of the skin
is exposed.
But it is a powder formula andI just find that, like you don't

(02:26):
get all gooky.
You know, like a lot of thecreams and gels and sprays,
you're all like sticky and gooky.
I don't know about you, but Ihate feeling that way.
So this is like my number onego-to sunscreen and I do have a
link if you put my code in hotmess, mom health, you get 15%
off anything from the site and Ido love all of their stuff.
But specifically speaking aboutsunscreen, I absolutely love

(02:49):
their sunny sidekick sunscreen, now also being fair-skinned.
I don't know what it is about mylips, but they always get burnt
by the sun.
So there's a whole line of likelip balms, lip gloss, lip stain
, clear colors, all kinds ofthings from Supergoop Really
funny name, but they have tonsof stuff with all SPF, good for

(03:10):
your lips, hydrating, love allof their stuff.
Like, if you want somethingclear, they have something for
that.
If you want more of a balm, they have something for that.
Or if you want just a littlebit of color.
They have something for that aswell, all with SPF in it.
So make sure you don't burnyour lips.
Check out Supergoop for that, and everything's going to be
linked in the show notes whereyou can just click a link and
it'll take you right to what I'mtalking about.

(03:32):
Next, again under sun protection, is recently I was at the pool
and I just was like, oh, I wishI could have like a better sun
hat, but with a ponytail holder, and I didn't own anything
besides like a baseball cap.
So I started perusing theinternet and I found this
company called Ponyflow and theyhave the cutest ponytail whole

(03:55):
hats like all kinds of hatsbucket hats, sun hats, baseball
caps like all different kinds ofbaseball caps, all different
kinds of bucket hats, alldifferent kinds of sun hats but
they all take, you know, inaccount that you have a ponytail
.
So I recently ordered aboutfive hats from there and I
ordered one for my daughter, andright now they're running a
promotion where they throw in afree guy's hat.

(04:16):
So my husband has one too now.
It doesn't have the ponytailholder, but it's totally
breathable, waterproof, dries inseconds if it's dry, and
they're really good quality.
So far I've been really happy.
So check them out if you'relooking for something that's
going to give you, like, morecoverage for your face and also
coverage for the back of yourneck.
So a lot of times if I'm at thepool or outside, like during a

(04:36):
hot sunny day, I don'tnecessarily want my hair down
because it's just so hot.
So I want my hair in a ponytail, but I also want my neck to not
get burnt.
So having that like bucket hattype or the sun hat type with
the ponytail holder is a win-winfor me.
So I hope you can check themout.
The link is in the show notesfor their sun hat collection,
but you can peruse their website.
Really cute hats.
Okay.

(04:57):
Next thing is I don't know aboutyou, but just because of the
sun and just being feeling dry,I kind of like look to more,
like exfoliate in the summer andhave my skin just looking
brighter.
And another product fromClearStem that I love is called
Pregame, and this is something Ikeep a little jar in my shower
all the time.
Once a week, whenever I'mfeeling like my skin's starting

(05:18):
to need like a refresher, likemaybe I've been in the sun too
many days, I will use thisproduct.
I will wash my face firstbefore I do anything else in the
shower, and then I will putthis on as a mask and leave it
on for about five to six minutesand brush it like rub it off
with the water and let me tellyou, your face feels like a
baby's butt.
It's so just like soft andsmooth and and I don't even know

(05:42):
how to explain it but it's likeone of the best masks that I've
ever used.
So, like I said, I don't gowithout it.
It's always in my shower.
The link is in the show notesand again, you can use my code,
hotmessmomhealth, for 15% offanything from Claire's website.
My next thing that I'm going totalk about is I don't know what
you call it, but like avegetable chopper, I guess.

(06:04):
But what it is, I don't knowthe technical term for all the
blades, but the one that I use Iput in the show notes.
It's from Amazon.
It's not expensive at all.
The one I think I selected toohas a 25% off like discount
right now, so it's super cheap.
But it has the little like cubed, like it almost puts like your
onion or your tomato in like alittle cube.

(06:25):
And I don't know about you, butif I'm like trying to eat
healthy and trying to eat moresalads, like just incorporate
more fruits and vegetables in mydiet, I like them being cubed.
I don't know what it is aboutit.
Maybe it reminds me of likewhen I was little and I used to
go to the Ponderosa Diner at thesalad bar.
I don't know if you can relateor if you've ever been to that,
but the little ham that wascubed.
It seemed like their tomatoeswere cubed.

(06:47):
Everything was in these tinycute little cubes.
So I don't know, but this thingreminds me of it, and you
basically put your food on thiscube grate and it chops it
instantly with stainless steelblades into this bottom vat.
So you can do bacon, you can doeggs, you can do you know,
onion tomato, you can do yourlunch meat, like if you want to

(07:08):
like have everything kind ofdiced really nicely on your
salad.
It's super easy to do.
So I love this thing.
You can do tons of other stuffwith it too.
Like I said, it's a 13 in one,so like it shreds, it grates, it
does all this stuff.
But honestly I love it it andit's worth it just for that
little cubing um blade that itcomes with.
Like I said, I don't know thetechnical term, but it makes

(07:30):
things cute and like cubed.
So I'm in for that and okay.
My next thing and this issomething that I feel like all
of us need like a good flowydress that we just feel good in,
right, like that we just feelconfident in, and my two, like
that we just feel confident in,and my two places for going to,
for this.
Now, I am also five foot tall.
I'm super petite.

(07:50):
So when I'm looking for dresses, petite dresses are definitely
something I'm gravitatingtowards, because otherwise I'm
getting things hemmed and allthat other stuff which I'm just
not into.
But my two go-to stores I'm notputting or linking a specific
dress, but if you're out andyou're just looking for a place
to go and you want to check outand I do shop online a lot too I

(08:11):
do just shop and then returnwhatever I don't like because
I'm kind of lazy and I don'thave a lot of time.
But if you go to loftcom, Ilove their petite dresses and
obviously they come in regularlengths as well, but they have a
lot of cute options typicallyfor, like, just maxi dresses,
cute flowy skirts, things likethat, and my other go-to is,

(08:33):
oddly enough.
So there's obviously JCrew, andthen there's their JCrew outlet
which is called JCrew factory.
I find that the better flowydresses that are just like cute
for summer actually are at thefactory and they're much cheaper
and they have better sales.
I do like JCrew, but when itcomes to like looking for cute
summer dresses, I have betterluck, especially if you're

(08:54):
petite, because I don't see alot of petite options on their
regular dresses most of the time.
So my go-to for that is JCrewfactory, and a bonus with that
is they usually have likesometimes every season they'll
have one or two dresses that mydaughter matches, so we'll have
matching dresses, which is supercute too.
Um, so for cute flowy summerdresses that just give you good

(09:16):
vibes, make you feel good, um,loft or jcrew factory are my two
go-tos.
All right, the next thing isgoing to be it's called the
finished journal.
I put the link in the shownotes.
Now I I knew this was comingout and I ordered it right away.
So I have one coming.

(09:36):
I do not physically have it yet, but it's by a guy named John
Acuff.
Now he has a podcast.
He's.
He has written a lot of books.
He's all about goals, reachingyour goals, how to get there,
the best ways to get there, allof those things.
So I really look up to him whenit comes to thinking about how
I'm going to better reach mygoals, how I'm going to do it
more efficiently, how I'm goingto stay consistent, things like

(09:58):
that.
And he came out with this thingcalled the Finish Journal.
Now I, like I said, I don't haveit in my hands, but to me this
is a must have if you arelooking to attain any goal.
It has positive things.
It has almost a book in it Ithink, from what I read, like a
42-page book but basically ithelps you plan, track and

(10:19):
accomplish your next goal.
So I'm so excited to get mineRight now.
It looks like the website.
They're only doing wait listsbecause it's sold out so fast,
but something to keep your eyeon this summer.
If you are working towards anygoal and it doesn't have to be
health and wellness related.
It could be any goal at all, whether you're trying to reach a
financial goal, maybe you'retrying to look for a new job,

(10:40):
maybe you're just trying to bebetter with your spending.
Whatever your goal is, and ifit's weight loss, health and
wellness.
Obviously, that would work too,but it could be for so many
different aspects of your lifeand to me, like I always look
for things that are going tohelp me strategize and keep me
on track in the most efficientway possible, and everything
I've read if you go to the link,it just looks like this is like

(11:00):
so motivating, so positive, moving you forward, keeping you
on track, keeping you on target, and I haven't seen a lot of
other things that are like thisout there.
So I wanted to recommend thisCheck out the website, get
yourself on the waiting list andinvest in yourself to get one
of these.
Once I get mine in the mail, Iwill maybe even do a whole
episode on this, because I thinkit's that important that when

(11:22):
there's something out there thatcan help us reach our goals,
that we invest in it and weutilize the tools that we have
to make us achieve our goalsfaster, right, okay, Next thing
is a good podcast.
We all need a good podcast.
Thank you for listening to thisone.
However, if you're looking forsomething else that maybe is not
as directed towards health andwellness, that is going to just

(11:44):
be that go-to motivation, scientific, you know, deep dive
into, like how to betteryourself.
I love the Mel Robbins podcast.
If you've listened to thispodcast, you know I absolutely
love and adore Mel Robbins.
I just think every single timeshe interviews someone she is
just like bam, bam, bam, hittingall the nails on the head.
She asks the most amazingquestions, she brings on the

(12:05):
most amazing guests and and hertopics just like they just reach
deep, like they really hit homewith me and I'm just going to
assume that if you're listeningto this, you're similar to me,
so they're going to resonatewith you too, whether it's like
how to be better in yourmarriage, how to ask better
questions, like justneuroscience stuff, psychology
stuff, how to be better withyour money, how to reach goals

(12:27):
she has some health and wellnesson there too, but it's mostly
just about how to become thatbetter version of yourself and
that change for you is possibleand she just has a way.
But I find her so motivating,so engaging and all the things.
So if you're not listening toher podcast, I highly recommend
you subscribe to the Mel Robbinspodcast and I did link that in
the show notes as well.

(12:48):
And last but not least, we allneed a good summer book.
Now I just finished reading thisbook.
It is amazing.
If you're on a health andwellness journey, I cannot
recommend this book enough.
Again, I think I'm going to doa whole episode on this book
like a book review.
It is that good and I honestlybelieve that every single person
that can read a book shouldread this book.

(13:10):
It's that good.
It is called Good Energy byCasey Means, and she's a doctor
and she has been through her ownhealth journey.
She had watched her mom passaway from cancer and she's
worked in the medical system andsaw.
You know all the things that goon internally and just between

(13:30):
her and her brother and whatthey know.
You understand and make senseof all the technical things and
really brings it down togranular things that we can do

(13:54):
every single day to makeourselves have good energy.
The book's called Good Energyand it's really about, like, the
connection of what we'reputting in our mouth, what we're
consuming and how to havehealth, like how to have overall
health and how to bring moregood energy to your life and all
the different ways that you cando that, and I just think she

(14:15):
makes it so tangible for all ofus.
So if you're looking forsomething this summer to read
that's not like superlyscientific, but that it was
going to bring you some hardcoreinformation to make you
understand and realize, kind oflike, the outer workings that
are going on all around us asfar as, like, the food companies
how food is affecting us, howdifferent light is affecting us,

(14:38):
how screens are affecting us,things that we can do to, you
know, negate some of this stuffand really digging into like
mitochondria, health and ourmetabolism and all of the things
.
I cannot recommend this bookhighly enough.
I might even read it againbecause it's so good and I want
to make sure I got it all.
But if you're looking for abook that just is something that

(15:00):
can maybe, you know, bringsomething better to your life,
help you understand the healthand wellness field a little bit
more, I love this book andcannot recommend it enough.
So I hope you guys foundsomething interesting or new
product that you want to try onthis list.
I know that I'm super excitedabout getting the finished
journal and everything else onhere I have and I love and I
hope you guys do too.

(15:20):
But please feel free to emailme or share with me how you guys
.
You know like these episodeswhere I give you some product
knowledge, product things thatI'm using.
If you try them, please let meknow too.
I would love to know howsomething's working out for you
that I recommended, as always.
Have a great week and I willtalk to you next.
