I'm incredibly grateful to be able to share this episode.
Talia Molé believes in the artist as a rebellious and revolutionary teacher whose purpose is to disrupt the status quo inspiring conversations that lead to greater questioning and awakening within a communal body. As an artist, she has dedicated her time to understanding social change through different social spaces and disciplines within academia and beyond. She molded and polished her role as an activist/scholar with the help of a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance, an M.S. in Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Anthropology and Social Change. Her field of research and exploration emerges from lived expressions of mother/motherhood/mothering, within marginalized populations, that serve as a radical remembrance of matriarchal ancestry, lineage, and community.
Braiding multiple artistic mediums with counseling modalities and traditional practices (such as storytelling, meditation, breathing techniques, and image cards), Talia finds joy in facilitating difficult conversations, while holding space for healing and creative exchange. Her greatest goal is to continue using her artistry as a process of learning and (un)learning that inspires the disruption of systems of oppression, cultivates fruitful curiosity, and nurtures aesthetic platforms that generate collaborative imagining toward meaningful revolutions. She is currently working on her forthcoming book “Motherhood Phoenixing: Queer REBELations.”
