What if the energy you bring to your career transition matters more than your resume? In a revealing episode, I share the stark contrast between two professionals with identical backgrounds facing the same market conditions—one struggling in fear for months while the other thrives with excitement and purpose.

The difference isn't luck or connections. It's the fundamental energy they bring to every conversation. When you approach your transition from fear, you scan for what's wrong, collect evidence of difficulties, and treat each interaction as a test to pass. But shift to a place of love and genuine curiosity, and something magical happens—people remember you, want to help you, and opportunities begin flowing instead of being forced.

Many talented professionals have been conditioned to believe they're small or that their skills don't matter. These are lies. You're not broken and don't need fixing. The real work is realigning with your authentic gifts, passions, and values. When you're grounded in these with a heart of service, you can't get it wrong.

Before your next networking call or interview, try this transformative question: "How can I be genuinely curious and helpful to the person in front of me today?" Not how to impress them or what to get from them—but how to serve. This small shift changes everything.

Whether you're currently in transition or sensing one on the horizon, consider this: what if this transition isn't something happening to you, but for you? What if it's actually a gift—precious time to reconnect with who you are when you're not performing someone else's version of success? Your next chapter begins with a mindset shift. Are you ready to approach it from a place of abundance rather than scarcity?

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, it's Laura.
Welcome to this week's Peak ofthe Week.
We're talking about energy.
You know, energy, energy, Ihave been told.
I have a lot of energy and ithas really helped me.
And it wasn't something I fullyunderstood until I kept kind of

(00:22):
peeling back layers and layersand layers.
And I want to give you somegood stuff today.
So, as usual, I have thewritten peak of the week and
then I kind of go off scriptsometimes, just as I feel
compelled to share more.
Does that sound good?
And for those of you who don'tknow this, go buy Shine Brighter

(00:47):
on Amazon and Barnes Noble.
So many, so many amazingmessages are coming my way,
including yours.
What has that meant to you?
If you've read a chapter, ifyou've read the whole thing, if
you've read even a tiny portion,I love, love, love, love, love

(01:10):
hearing from you.
So please do not be shy.
Love to hear epiphanies, breakthroughs, even just aha,
moments that you have whilereading the book, moments that
you have while reading the book.
All right, here we are yourpeak of the week.

(01:35):
So I was talking with a newclient last week when she said
something I hear all the timeLaura, it's so awful out there.
The job market is terrible.
I've got so many friends thathave been going on 12 months, 18
months with no job.
Two hours later I'm on thephone with another client same

(02:03):
industry, similar background whosays something like this Laura,
I'm having an absolute blast.
I can't remember a time in mylife where I've been able to
just focus on meeting new peoplewith genuine curiosity, getting
to know them and being socaptivated by possibilities for
the future.
There's just so many problemsout there to solve and I just

(02:25):
know that I will be led exactlywhere I'm supposed to be.
Guess who lands faster?
Yeah, you know.
You know the answer.
There's a difference betweenswimming upstream and downstream
.
And, no surprise, after placingthousands of professionals

(02:49):
working with thousands ofprofessionals in the recruiting
space, the energy you bring toany transition makes all the
difference.
Two people, same qualifications, same market conditions,

(03:10):
completely different outcome.
One operates from fear, scanning for what's wrong,
collecting evidence of how hardeverything is approaching each
conversation as a test.
Everything is approaching eachconversation as a test.
The other operates from love, genuine curiosity about people

(03:37):
excited about solving problems.
What I find heartbreaking isthat our society or this might
be, you know, a toxicorganization that you've left
behind has convinced so manytalented professionals that
they're small, insignificant andtheir skills don't matter.
Lies, lies, lies.

(04:01):
The work isn't about fixingwhat's wrong with you.
You're not broken.
We just need a realignment.
The real work is coming backinto knowing your gifts, knowing
your passions, knowing yourvalues.
When you're grounded in thosewith a heart of service, you

(04:27):
can't get this thing wrong.
And let me ask you this questionwhat if this transition is
actually your gift?
I have seen this over and overand over People who have these
resumes where it's like one year, one year, one year, 18 months,
one year, 18 months.

(04:47):
They're misaligned, theyhaven't figured it out yet.
And okay, yes, there could besome other very different
circumstances, but if you'regoing through the same cycle and
feeling the same way, that's apattern.
So what if this transition isactually a gift?

(05:10):
What if this transition isactually a gift and a year from
now, you're going to look backat this time and you're going to
say thank goodness because Igoing to look back at this time
and you're going to say thankgoodness Because I needed to
stop that pattern.
And what would change if youapproached whether it's a career

(05:32):
transition, whether it's anytransition not as something
happening to you, but assomething happening for you.
Happening to you, but assomething happening for you.
What if this time isn't aboutempty space to endure, but
precious time to reconnect withwho you are, when you're not

(05:59):
performing someone else'sversion of success, that quiet
ache, maybe, that you've beenfeeling, it's not a weakness,
it's actually wisdom trying tocome through, it's your inner
compass, recalibrating towardssomething that will actually
fulfill you, not just pay you.

(06:23):
So here's what I want to ask youwhether you're in transition
right now or sensing one on thehorizon, are you approaching
your next chapter from a placeof fear or a place of love?
Fear says I need to takewhatever I can get.
The market is terrible, I'mrunning out of time.

(06:45):
There's scarcity, scarcity,scarcity, scarcity.
Mindset.
Love says I'm exactly where Ineed to be.
I'm learning somethingimportant right now.
The right opportunity willrecognize my value.
The difference isn't justphilosophical, it's practical.
It shows up in your energyduring interviews and how you

(07:08):
network in the opportunitiesthat seem to find you.
So, if you're in transition, one small shift here's.
One small shift that can changeeverything.
Before your next conversation, whether it's a networking call,
an interview or a coffee chat, Iwant you to ask yourself one

(07:32):
question how can I be genuinelycurious and helpful to the
person in front of me today?
Not how can I impress them, orwhat can I get from this.
Or I wonder, like if they'resizing me up and judging me.
No, how can I serve?

(07:53):
How can I serve?
When you show up to serve, something magical happens.
People remember you.
They want to help you.
Opportunities start flowinginstead of being forced to

(08:24):
approach your transition orreally anything, honestly, from
love rather than fear, to have adifference in the energy.
It's backed by an abundancemindset versus a scarcity
mindset.
I want to help.
So two ways I can help.
One you can book an activationsession where we'll reconnect

(08:50):
you with your authentic valueand craft an approach that feels
as good on the inside as itlooks on paper.
We don't just strategize yourjob search.
We will ground you in yourgifts and create a plan that
honors both your practical needsand your deeper truth and for

(09:12):
deeper transformation, withcommunity support.
Join my next Pursue yourPurpose workshop.
That's happening the morningsof September 11th and 12th and
it's not just about careerstrategy I mean career plays a
role but it's soul level clarityabout who you are, why you're

(09:33):
here what you're meant tocontribute.
You'll leave with a clear senseabout your authentic path and
have a supportive community tohelp you walk it.
While I'm at it, I would likefor you to begin to have this

(09:56):
thought I am my best investment.
I am my best investment.
I am my best investment.
Now I get it.
Sometimes you just can't makethe investment.
But when you're spending moneyon things like Starbucks, coffee
and I mean I was going to saychat, gpt, okay, okay, sometimes

(10:25):
these other things that you'respending money on, put them to
you.
You, if you could land one monthfaster by approaching this
transition differently, how muchwould that be worth to you?
What about two months faster?
What about six months faster?
And, beyond the whole financialimpact, what would it mean for

(10:49):
your confidence, your peace ofmind, your sense of just trust
in yourself and your future?
I'm just wanting you to pauseand think about these things.

(11:11):
You don't have to just do thesame thing over.
You can change.
You can approach thisdifferently.
You can have something thatrecognizes your gifts, values

(11:32):
your perspective and allows youto solve problems that you
actually care about, because theworld needs what you have to
offer, and it's time that youbelieve that too.
You don't need to listen to thepeople who are doom and gloom.

(11:54):
Doom and gloom, doom and gloom, because for every one doom and
gloom, there's like 10 of us whoare infinite possibilities.
Like this is your life tryingto wake you up.
Are you going to get it thistime or are you going to go
around and do another circle ofthe same thing?
Because something is trying toget your attention and you've

(12:17):
got to pay attention, otherwiseyou could go on the same loop.
I don't want you to go on thesame loop, so book an activation
session, come to the next, pursue your Purpose workshop,
believe that you are your bestinvestment, and whatever

(12:39):
scenario you're in today whetherit's a career transition,
relationship, family well-being,health, all of it are you
coming at it from a place offear or a place of love?
One simple perspective shiftcan truly change everything.

(13:03):
I'm rooting for you.
