Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, it's Laura.
Welcome to this week's Peak ofthe Week.
It is 9.25 on a Thursday nightand I am still processing what
just happened this week.
So on Tuesday, july 29th, shineBrighter officially launched
into the world.
On Wednesday, I found myself onFox 9 Good Day talking about
(00:26):
the quiet epidemic of burnouthigh-functioning burnout and
then that same evening, wecelebrated at the most
incredible launch party I couldhave ever imagined.
And here's what continues toamaze me the incredible power of
(00:47):
authentic community and whathappens when you stop performing
and striving and chasing andachieving and start showing up
exactly who you are.
Start showing up exactly whoyou are.
So when I first wrote or beganwriting Shine Brighter, I
(01:15):
thought it was just for me.
This was a way to process myown journey from
high-functioning burnout tosomething that felt more like
actually living and being thereal me in the world.
But the messages that startedflowing in this week they've
completely overwhelmed me in thebest possible way.
Like the amount of messagesthat have come in this week,
(01:41):
it's like all of that pain wasworth it.
Like, laura, this is exactlywhat I need to hear right now.
Laura, I feel like you'reactually like talking directly
to me.
I didn't realize how much I hadbeen striving for something
that I actually don't even want.
What moves me the most isseeing how the message resonates
(02:06):
differently with everyone.
Some people connect with the4A's framework, others find
themselves really in thevulnerable stories.
Some love the practical toolsand others maybe just need
permission to stop trying sohard.
There's really something foreveryone and, honestly, it just
(02:27):
tells me this message is so muchbigger than any of us could
have realized, and so when I wasthinking about throwing a party
, I was like do I really want todo this?
Do I really want to throw aparty?
Is that kind of weird to do itfor myself?
And I thought you know what?
No, this is about community.
(02:51):
And when I was looking for avenue for the launch celebration
, I kept thinking not a ballroom, not a boardroom.
I wanted a space whereconversations would flow
naturally.
Just the energy would matchwhat Shine Brighter is all about
Authentic connection andcommunity.
And the space at gatherings atStation 10, with its soaring
(03:16):
ceilings and exposed brick andgorgeous wood floors, just felt
like the perfect backdrop forwhat we were celebrating
together, and it was pure magic.
So many smiles, so manyincredible conversations.
And the conversations weren'tsurface level.
(03:36):
They were sharing real storiesof transformation.
One woman told me about finallyleaving a job that was slowly
killing her soul.
You know, a business leadertalked about how he's learning
to lead from presence instead ofpressure, and someone else
(03:57):
shared how they're redefiningsuccess with their teenage
daughter.
These weren't just partyconversations, these were life
conversations, and watching ourcommunity come together around
this shared understanding thatsuccess should feel as good on
the inside as it looks on paper.
(04:18):
That is the stuff.
That is the stuff that remindsme why we are doing this work.
And then being on Fox 9 Good Daywas just surreal in the best
way.
You know, when they asked meabout burnout being a quiet
epidemic, I got to sharesomething I have been seeing for
(04:40):
years, like years, through myrecruiting work that some of our
highest performers are also ourmost exhausted people.
You know we discussed some ofthe telltale signs that
persistent tiredness, that sleepdoesn't alleviate, that
(05:01):
disconnection from what used tobring you joy and that feeling
that you're just going throughthe motions instead of actually
living your life.
And as we dove into my four A'sprocess which, by the way,
awareness, attitude, action,alignment, awareness, attitude,
action, alignment I mean get itthrough to you.
(05:23):
It was a roadmap to beingfulfilled in both work and in
life, and what I loved the mostwas getting to say on live
television like you're notbroken, you're not.
You're not broken, you're justmisaligned.
Because that's the truth I wantevery high achiever to hear.
(05:49):
So, getting the book out, that'sjust the beginning.
Like now comes the beginning, the work.
You know the part that's, youknow really where the rubber
meets the road and what I'm mostpassionate about, which is
spreading the message in a waythat creates real change,
(06:10):
lasting change.
I'm diving headfirst intokeynote speaking and customized
workshops to reach more people.
Of course, I will continue todo one-on-one coaching, but I
just feel called to do more ofone-to-many, focusing on leaders
(06:31):
, identify and address thishigh-functioning burnout in
their organizations before it'stoo late, because here's the
thing people are just leaving orthey're quite quitting.
And what if we could helppeople find alignment in their
current roles instead ofwatching them burn out and
(06:52):
having to replace them?
I'm also expanding and also, bythe way, the curriculum is
getting amazing revamping toconnect with the book.
The next Pursue your Purposeworkshop will take place
September 11th and 12th.
I want you to sign up theseintimate sessions.
(07:16):
It's for anyone.
Anyone who is searching formore or feeling like this ain't
it?
This, this career, this, thisain't right, like this, is not
resonating in my soul.
This is so important that youlisten and realize that you are
(07:41):
not alone.
I absolutely adore watchingpeople reconnect with who they
really are, underneath all ofthe expectations and all of the
shoulds.
Stop shoulding on yourself.
Everyone needs this workshop.
Heck, if you've done it once,do it again.
(08:03):
I have had people come in againbecause they get something new
every time.
They get something new everytime.
Repetition is the mother of allskill.
And then, of course, you knowthose of you who've been asking
about individual coaching.
(08:25):
I love working with leaders whoare ready to do the deep work of
aligning their success withtheir soul desire.
Not because you need fixing, but because you are ready to
stop swimming upstream andyou're ready to move with your
natural current.
(08:45):
And I am living proof.
Living proof when you begin toalign with the desires of your
soul, how things just begin totake off.
But you've got to do the actionpart.
Remember awareness, attitude, action, alignment, the micro
(09:07):
move.
Guess what?
None of this would havehappened if I hadn't made one
small decision in May of 2023 toactually listen, when my body
and soul were trying to tell mesomething.
The ranking email that left mesobbing in Miami.
(09:27):
Then the triple threatdiagnosis of high anxiety, not
sleeping and ADHD.
This breakdown that felt likethe end of everything.
It was actually the beginningof the most authentic chapter of
my life, if I could go back andtell that younger version of
Laura don't worry, don't worry, this is good, this is good.
(09:52):
Your pain turns into yourpurpose.
Sometimes, the most radicalthing we can do is simply stop
pretending everything is fine.
I was the queen of everything'sfine.
Everything's fine, butunderneath, if you squeeze me, I
would just rage, anger, bitterness, shame, anger, and I
(10:19):
had to start telling that truth,if it was even just to myself.
So what I want you to know, ifany part of this week, this
message or this journey, resonates with you, trust that
feeling.
Your inner wisdom is alreadypointing you towards what you
(10:44):
need.
Maybe it's permission toredefine what success looks like
.
Maybe it's the courage to havethat conversation that you've
been avoiding.
Maybe it's simply a reminderthat you don't have to burn out
to shine brightly.
Whatever it is, you don't haveto figure it out alone.
(11:05):
That is what I am here for.
That is what community is herefor.
I have cultivated one of themost incredible communities in
the Twin Cities.
You are not alone in this.
This is why we are heretogether.
You are not alone in this.
This is why we are heretogether.
(11:28):
I am so, so, just overjoyed,like I think I've.
I think all the tears are donenow.
I think I've cried all thetears and now it's just turned
into excitement and I want youto spread this Like, if this
resonates with you, share itwith someone that you love,
share it.
Someone needs to know thatthey're not broken, they're just
(11:52):
misaligned.
And sometimes the most powerfultransformation is reaching out
to a friend to say you are notalone, and I would love for you
to join the next Pursue yourPurpose workshop, september 11th
and 12th.
It is the best gift to yourself.
It is the best gift to yourselfand it is so reasonable.
(12:15):
It is so reasonable for theamount of content, for the new
connections and for the newwisdom that you leave with.
Can you tell, I'm convicted,I'm beyond convicted, because I
believe in your magnificence andif I believe it more than you,
(12:40):
guess what it's going totransfer?
Because you have a gift.
You have many gifts.
It's about time that you usethem on the daily, because that
is your gift to the world.
Your gifts can be your gift tothe world.
(13:05):
And it doesn't mean you have toblow up your life.
It doesn't mean you have tocompletely change your job.
It's changing your perspective, because when you see this whole
thing differently, everythingchanges.
You see this thing differently, everything changes.
And if this is resonating withyou, you know what to do.
(13:28):
Lauraekingcom activationsession.
Pursue your purpose.
Hire me to come to your company.
I am here for transformation.
(13:48):
Thank you, thank you.
Thank you for the honor, theabsolute honor, to be speaking
with you right now.
I do not take this lightly andI am so grateful for this
privilege.
Go have a rocking day.
