Speaker 1 (00:16):
Hi there, and welcome to her Business Elevated podcast. This
is a podcast where we inspire and empower women entrepreneurs
to build thriving, impactful businesses. And I'm your host, your
fellow solopreneur and friendly content strategist, Demetria, and I'm so
excited to have you join me on this journey today.
(00:37):
So before we get started, I wanted to plug my
course which is called Content with Confidence. It's on holiday
self right now for fifty percent off, So I just
had to say that at the beginning of the show.
It's only right now going for thirty six dollars, and
it's a comprehensive course that includes six training videos, a
fifty page coaching workbook, and an audiobook companion, all created
(00:58):
to help you craft content with confidence and clarity. And
it's normally valued at one twenty seven, but this special
offer is available only for this holiday season and there
is no promo code required. You just simply click the
link in the show notes to snag your copy today.
So in this episode, we're diving into a topic that
I know so many of you have wandered about, and
(01:19):
it's a strategy that I use regularly in my own
business to generate consistent traffic and leads. So we're talking
about evergreen content. This is content that keeps on giving.
If you've never heard of the term evergreen content, you're
going to hear a lot about that in this show.
This is something that I've pretty much banked my online
business on for the last twenty years, and I just
(01:40):
wanted to really emphasize how much content and especially evergreen content,
has made a big difference for me. Now, if you've
ever felt frustrated about your content becoming outdated shortly after
you hit the published button, this episode is for you.
Stick around because I'm sharing insights and actionable strategies to
help you create content that remains valuable over time. Just
(02:03):
so you know, I also have another version of this
episode in video format, and it's on my YouTube channel.
So as part of my updated content strategy, I've begun
recycling my topics to make the most of my content.
I realize that not everyone who follows my podcast also
follows me on YouTube and vice versus. So if you
(02:23):
happen to love visuals and you like to see what
I'm talking about and what I'm presenting on camera, if
it makes more sense to you to watch the videos.
I would love for you to do that. You would
probably get a lot more impact on this topic. So
I invite you to follow my channel. It's called Demitria
Zinga's Solopreneur Lifestyle and the link is in the show notes.
(02:44):
So here's what you'll hear in today's episode of Her
Business Elevated. We'll talk about what evergreen content actually is,
and we're going to break that down into how it
stands out as a long lasting, valuable tool for your
content marketing strategy. And then we'll talk about why evergreen
content matters for your business, because I always believe in
(03:06):
not just talking about the what, but the why. You'll
learn why creating this timeless content is essential for consistent traffic,
better SEO and strengthening your digital presence on platforms that
you actually own. And then we'll talk about some additional
long term benefits of evergreen content and how this type
of content saves you time and serves as a silent
(03:26):
team member to some degree, it helps you promote your
business around the clock, and I'll give you some examples
from my own business success. And then I'll talk about
the how, so not just the what and the why,
but how to plan your evergreen content for your business.
And I'll give you some actional steps for planning impactful content,
understanding your audience's needs, and choosing some topics that would
(03:47):
help you to make that type of content. And then
we'll get into some final thoughts and I'll wrap things up.
But I just want you to know that this episode
is packed with inspiration, practical advice and kind of gives
you a roadmap to help you create content that serves
your audience and drives lasting results. And lastly, before we
hop into the content, I just want to let you
know that if you need additional support with creating your
(04:08):
own content strategy, that is exactly what I am doing
in twenty twenty five. So as I've been helping solopreneurs
to launch their websites and create beautiful, well designed sites
on WordPress, I want to take this a step further
in the year to come and actually help you with
your content because I feel like that is the most
important aspect of generating the type of clientele that you
(04:31):
wish to have for your business. And though I realize
that designing a website that gives you the best setup
for success is really important, I know that it doesn't
just stop there with your website. It needs to go
further and expand the reach of just having a beautiful
blog that's set up and ready to go. You actually
have to start creating momentum, and that's where content creation
(04:55):
comes in, and that's where the strategy of that content
comes in. So I want to help you this upcoming
year and strategizing your content so that you're able to
gain some traction online. So we're going to jump into
what is evergreen content because I've had a few people
ask me about evergreen Why do I use that term?
What does that mean? And it really is an industry
(05:15):
standard term that is used to mean content that is
helpful year round, all the time, not specialized content, but
content that is something that your audience would want to
search for, no matter the time of the year, no
matter what's happening. As far as trends go, it's not
a trendy topic. We're going to break this down and
think of evergreen content as the slow cooker of content marketing.
(05:39):
It's not that flashy microwave meal that gets attention for
just a few minutes and then it fades away. So instead,
evergreen content is designed to stand the test of time.
It's the how to guides. If you like creating those
tutorials maybe or frequently asked questions, you can also do listicles.
All these things help your audience to continue coming back
(06:00):
again and again to your blog, to your website. Unlike
news articles or seasonal content or trendy content that have
a short shelf life, evergreen content stays relevant long term
and continues to bring value to your audience. So should
every solopreneur who's running their business online have evergreen content
be a part of their content strategy. Absolutely yes, and
(06:25):
I believe this is one of the best ways to
attract your audience, the audience that you need coming to
your website and seeking your services. So let's talk for
a minute about why evergreen content matters for your business.
Why is it so important for you? First and foremost,
as a solopreneur, you need to think about your consistency
(06:46):
level and when things are done right. What evergreen content
does is it creates a steady flow of traffic to
your website. And that's what we're looking for. After you've
done the work of creating that initial piece of content,
you're just waiting for the traffic to happen as a result.
So if you've been following me for a while, you
know how much that I advocate for focusing on your
(07:08):
home base, which is your blog or your website. Now,
social media platforms are great, Okay, I use them, don't
use them as often as I would like because I
just don't always have the time to focus on my socials.
But they're great, and they are one of the ways
that I'm able to get my content out there and
(07:28):
to attract new clients and customers. But social media platforms
are borrowed space. But your website, that's your digital property
and it belongs to you. So when you prioritize creating
evergreen content on your blog, you not only own that space,
but you also reap the benefits of better SEO. And
(07:48):
I think I talked about SEO in an earlier episode,
so I'll have to go back and see which episode
it was, But I do talk about SEO quite a bit,
and I do have a YouTube video that talks about
why SEO is a game changer for your business, so
I will leave a link to that video. Also, what
that means is that with evergreen content, because you can
focus on your SEO. It means higher search engineerankings, it
(08:11):
means more traffic, and let's be real, it also means
more opportunities for new clients, new sales, and new connections. Now,
another reason evergreen content is a game changer is because
it saves you time. You create it once, like I
mentioned a few minutes ago, and it just keeps working
for you. It's like having an extra team member who's
(08:32):
out there promoting your business twenty four to seven. So
let me give you an example from my own business. Now,
I run a blog. Some of you might know this already.
I've been running a homeschool block for about twelve or
thirteen years. I usually just say over ten years ago,
and I once created a blog post for my homeschool
(08:52):
audience called Wholesome Books for Teens. Now, that single post
brought in thousands of views and hundreds of clicks in
just a year. And why did that happen for me?
What was the reason for so much exposure on that
one blog post. I believe it was because it was
optimized for search engines, and of course I used Pinterest
(09:15):
as my other platform to help me to gain traction.
But also this blog post addressed in need that my
audience has year round, not just during a specific season,
and the result is that more subscribers, more engagement, and
more opportunities were there to serve my audience with the
resources that they were looking for. I showed you some
(09:36):
examples of this in my YouTube video, so again that
link is in the show notes if you want to
actually see those examples. I do have some blog posts
I created for the homeschool Blog which were not Evergreen,
which were Christmas themed or Thanksgiving themed, and those as
well did get a lot of traction during the holidays,
but not year round. So if you're looking to create
(10:00):
content that brings in customers twenty four to seven all
around the clock, you want to focus on creating a
good set of content that helps your audience no matter
the season or any specific time of the year. Also,
trends come and go, so you might want to choose
a topic that allows you to hop on a particular
(10:20):
trend and ride out the wave of that trend. But
once the trend is over, that blog post or that
piece of content is no longer as relevant and then
you won't receive the same traction for it. So always
be thinking about ways that you can write about topics
that your audience needs to know about all the time. So,
now that we know why evergreen content is so powerful,
let's talk about how you can plan it for your
(10:41):
own business. And my first tip for you is to
know your audience. And again, this is your foundation. You
need to understand their pain points. You need to know
what they're struggling with and the questions that your audience
is asking. What problems can you solve for your audience.
The better you know them, the more impactful your content
will be. And then secondly, I advise you to do
(11:04):
some keyword research. I always talk about this because it's
part of my content strategy that has been the most
one of the most helpful ways for me to actually
gain momentum online year after year after year, because I'm
choosing keywords that people are searching for and specifically my audience.
So I use tools like Google Keyword Planner or sem
rush to find high traffic, low competition words. You can
(11:28):
look for search terms that have long term relevance rather
than seasonal appeal. For example, instead of writing a post
about top marketing trends for twenty twenty four, I might
create content like essential marketing strategies for small businesses or
small business moms or solopreneurs. So I tend to add
in specific keywords that help me with my strategy and
(11:50):
the type of audience that I want to reach, and
this will help me remain useful no matter the time
of the year. So I believe that this tip can
really help you with your content creation as well. Once
you start thinking about those topics and those articles that
you want to produce, think about keywords that your potential
audience is looking for. Because that potential audience is going
to be your audience and you want to draw them
(12:11):
into your funnel, into your list, into what you're offering.
But in order to draw them in, part of your
marketing strategy has to be how you position your content,
and using keywords is an important part of that. It's
a long term game. It's not an overnight success strategy.
It is a long term strategy, but it is very,
very powerful and useful. So I highly recommend keyword research
(12:34):
and thirdly, focus on timeless topics. Think about what your
audience needs to know next year, the year after, and beyond,
not just in the next three to six months. Topics
like tutorials and best practices. These are all foundational skills
that are great starting points. So, speaking of tutorials, in
the upcoming year, I plan to create more extremely practical
(12:58):
tutorials for you, and maybe even some technical tutorials. I've
always wanted to do that. I've always thought about it,
dabbled around the idea of it, but not fully jumped
into it, just because I know that tutorials, once I
start committing to making them, I like to have a
system that where I can help my audience to follow
(13:19):
through on them and provide even additional resources such as
courses and products that can help them dive deeper. And
until I was ready to launch those courses, I didn't
want to start creating random tutorials. So my strategy was
to wait until I'm ready to create those courses. And
so I'm at a point now where I'm ready to
do that, and so you'll find more tutorials from me
(13:42):
in the upcoming year. Hopefully, at least that's the plan
I have right now. We'll see how it goes, but
that is my plan because I do want to help
you as you start asking questions about content strategy and
how to position yourself online. I want to be available
to help you do that, and so I'm really excited
about the changes that are coming up or to twenty
five and beyond, and just really excited. I'm excited about
(14:03):
the YouTube channel, I'm excited about this podcast, and I
can't wait to help you with your content strategy. I'm
always available for other things as well, such as like
I said before, we're website set up and design and
podcast coaching. These are things that I continue to practice
and offer, but I wanted to make sure that this
(14:25):
year I provide strategy support because I feel like that
has been the biggest obstacle for small business owners who
have talked to me about what their needs are in
their business. So a lot of times they already have
a website, they already have a podcast, or they've already
begun one, or they're thinking about starting one, but it's
(14:46):
just the strategy of what to talk about and how
to present online that is confusing to them. And so
I want to position myself in business where I'm able
to best utilize what I know about twenty years of
online my business to help business owners who are trying
to figure it out. And there's a few things that
I have figured out that I just know that if
(15:08):
I can just help someone else, it would be my
pleasure to teach and to train and to support content
creators like yourself, solopreneurs, small business owners, to get that
content that's inside of your heart, locked away in your
mind and out into the blog of Sphirit, out into
the world, into the Internet super Highway, and just get started.
(15:30):
So that's why my very first course is called Content
with Confidence. It's my very first one for this year
because I wanted to start by launching a product that
helps to release solopreneurs to create that content and to
do it confidently. But from there, we're going to start
digging into the house the nuts and bolts and the
why and how to go about doing this content strategy.
(15:52):
And so think of me as your content strategist support system,
your friendly content strategists. In addition to all the other
things that I've been announcing and sharing with you over
the past two years of this podcast, I have so
much more that I want to offer you in the
upcoming year, and so my focus will be more or
less on content strategy and so I can't wait to
(16:12):
help you. And my bottom line for this episode is
that evergreen content is a powerful tool for growing your business,
but it requires intention and consistency. So remember this is
a long term strategy and it's not an overnight fix.
So roll up your sleeves and let's commit to creating
(16:33):
content that serves our audience as well into the future.
I promise you the results will be worth it if
you just keep at it and keep doing all the
things that you know to do, and keep learning and
implementing the things that you're learning in your business. And
don't forget your content isn't just about driving traffic. It's
(16:53):
about building trust and providing value to the people who
need what you have to offer. So even if you
have a release or you only have a handful of
people to talk to, as long as what you're offering
is creating value for that audience, then you're doing a
great work. So I just want to thank you so
much for tuning into this episode. If you found today's
(17:15):
discussion helpful, I would love it if you could share
this episode with a fellow entrepreneur or friend who might
need a little content inspiration. Don't forget to subscribe to
this podcast so you don't miss future episodes where we
continue to dive into strategies to elevate your business and
leave a review for this podcast as well. And if
