Speaker 1 (00:16):
Hey, their friends. Welcome back to another episode of the
HERB Business Elevated podcast where we talk all about elevating
your brand, your business, and your impact. I'm your host, Dimitria,
and I'm so glad you're here. If you're new, welcome,
and if you've been rocking with me for a while
you already know. Grab your coffee, your tea, because this
is going to be a good one. Speaking of coffee,
(00:37):
if you ever want to sit down and chat with
me about your business, your content strategy, or just get
some clarity on your next steps, I offer virtual coffee chats.
These are casual, one on one strategy sessions where we
dive deep into your goals. Head over to my website
to book your time with me. All right, today we're
talking about one of the most important elements of your
marketing strategy, which is your customer avatar also known as
(01:00):
a buyer persona. And if you've ever felt like your
messaging is falling flat or you're not attracting the right
people to your business, this episode is for you, so
let's go ahead and get into it. First off, we
need to define what a customer avatar is and if
you want even more detailed info on this episode. I
invite you to head on over to my YouTube channel
to see the entirety of this episode. So what is
(01:23):
a customer avatar. It is a fictional representation of your
ideal client. And this isn't just about demographics like age
and gender. This is about truly knowing who your dream
customer is. So you want to understand their story, their
pain points, and even their favorite coffee order, because, let's
be honest, knowing that can help you truly relate to
(01:45):
your customer. So when you have a clear picture of
who you're talking to, everything in your marketing becomes laser focused.
Your website, copy, your social media posts, your emails, and
even your product offers will resonate so much more. You'll
go from generic messaging to speaking directly to your people.
So here's a few ways that you can create your
(02:06):
customer avatar. And the first way I'm going to recommend
that you find out who they are and what makes
the tick is to run customer surveys. I love running
surveys because they give me real insights into what my
audience wants. I send out polls and forms to my
email list, and I always offer a little incative to
thank them for their time. People are really busy, so
(02:28):
giving them something in return, like a free resource or discount,
makes it worth their while. In my surveys, I ask
what are your biggest challenges in business or what are
your interests and that would come from the types of
books they read or the podcast they listen to. And
then I ask them what do you wish existed to
(02:49):
solve your problems? What is it that you need that
you haven't found yet? And these responses help me to
shape my content, my products and services to meet exactly
what my audience needs. Secondly, social media listening is a
great way to figure out what your audience needs. And
this one feels a little sneaky, but trust me, it's
(03:11):
just good business. I hop onto Instagram or TikTok or
Facebook groups wherever my ideal customers would be hanging out,
and I read through these comments to see what questions
people are asking and what frustrations they have. This is
free market research right at your fingertips, so never underestimate
the power of social media listening. Then I want to
(03:33):
move on to competitor analysis. I also keep an eye
on what others in my industry are doing, but of
course never to copy. Instead, I analyze what's working for
them and see if there's a way to put my
unique spin on it. I look at how they engage
their audience, the language they use, and what makes their
content successful. I create a detailed customer profile from all
(03:55):
of this information. So once I gather all this data,
I put it together into what I consider to be
a very detailed customer avatar profile. I even give them
a name, a backstory, and a personality. For example, let's
give her the name Lisa. Even though my avatar is
named Monique, we're just going to call her Lisa for now.
(04:16):
So let's say she's a forty year old entrepreneur who's
juggling a business and a family. She struggles with content marketing.
She wants a clear strategy that does not require ads,
and she listens to business podcasts. She loves Macha Latees,
and she wants to feel more confident about her brand's growth.
Do you see how specific that is for me? At
(04:36):
least now, every time I create content, I'm speaking directly
to Lisa. And that's the power of knowing your customer avatar.
So creating a strong customer avatar is the foundation of
your marketing strategy, and when you know who you're talking to,
you can write copy that converts, create offers that actually sell,
and then you can attract the right people to your business.
(04:59):
And if you have and build your customer avatar yet,
I encourage you to start doing that today. Take a
few minutes to think about your ideal client and start
gathering insights using the tips from this episode. I wanted
to make this episode a short one because I know
just how busy you are, and I promised some shorter
action packs episodes on my podcast this year, and this
