美国的政治舞台上不容易看到华人的身影，而选择从政的第一代华人移民又更加罕见。 齐丽丽不仅是马里兰州的第一个在中国大陆出生长大的众议员，而且也是全美国第一个在中国出生长大的州议员。 她非常鼓励华裔参政，她说：“最重要的就是你要参与民主，不管你投谁的票。”
