Mary Ann Cotton, la primera asesina en serie de Inglaterra
La literatura, el cine y la prensa están repletos de referencias a Jack el Destripador, un personaje que llenó de terror las calles de Londres en 1888; pero, décadas antes, hubo otra persona que cometió 21 asesinatos, convirtiéndose en la primera asesina en serie de Inglaterra.
Su nombre era Mary Ann Robson (aunque cambió su apellido por el de Cotton tras su cuarto matrimonio) y su carrera como asesina en serie estuvo activa entre 1852 y 1872, siendo este último año cuando fue descubierta, juzgada y ejecutada un año después. En total, acabó con la vida de sus 11 hijos, 3 maridos, 1 amante, y su propia madre, su cuñada y 4 hijastros.
